    I never comment, but I just wanted to say thank you for actually comparing an ALR projection screen with a flat white wall. You are like the only person on TH-cam who does this in detail!

      @@NexiTech have you looked into "CLR" screens? I'm wondering if the following statement is true, or is it just marketing/ snake oil.. to take your money
      Quote
      "Regular ALR will not work with a UST projector.
      ALR is retro reflective and reflects light back to the source, so all the brightness is going back towards the UST projector's lens nowhere near your eyes.
      CLR (ALR for UST) is meant to reflect light from below, straight out toward the viewer, and reject light from the ceiling (ceiling light rejection) and from the sides and even from straight on a bit."

    This is honestly the best projector setup I have ever seen, the projector image perfectly matches the screen and it really looks like a TV and it's amazing how bright it stays even with the lights on.

    fantastic content. has helped me decide on which projector to get. I was leaning more towards a short throw projector and stumbled upon a review that said an alr screen is needed. your videos pretty much proved that the difference is minimal in a dark room, which was my intent with a theater room. I have a set up where a 55 TV is wall mounted on the wall with a pull down projector screen that will only be used on movie nights with the kids. thanks so much 🙏

      This video is useless, and you can check at 6:28 that he’s doing a false screen comparison by color grading both video pictures. Watch the wall itself “affected” by the different screen, lol. How is that possible? The picture has been color graded for the screen to look better.

      Depending of where you live in the US or outside of US I place the screens with the same or similar preformanse screens that are available. All screens in the links have the same type of UST ALR horisontal micro lines pattern fabric which have the same or very similar preformanse.

      On mine Z5500 control pod Back light went bad, I opened it solder again every contact for LCD and it works for a few months fine and then back light died completely. I will probably change the LCD or get the similar led diodes at some point in the future. Other than that my z5500 works like a charm. Crystal clean sound and awesome ground-shaking bass. I love it!
      P.S. I have one more Z5500 in the storage room still in the original box :) I brought it many years ago as a back up.

      @@atomictrousers2998 Sure! VAVA is in fact brighter and it is awesome projector but for some reason VAVA 4K Projector disappeared from Amazon Website together with all customers reviews which I found to be very strange. It's like it never existed on Amazon which I'm trying to investigate what happened. Until then you might want to go with the Xiaomi 4k or some other option as I don't like the fact that some product can only be purchased from manufacturer website where they control all the reviews and information.

    Hey, I hope you've still got the same setup and can tell me a measurement. I've used an online calculator and it's saying for me to get an 80" screen size, the throw distance would be 41cm. I'm unsure if that is to the unit itself, or to the projection output.
    For context, I want to mount this on a shelf on the wall. The depth of unit is 290mm. So if its to the units total depth, would I need 410mm +290mm, =700mm?
    But if it's(the 410mmm) to the output on the unit, by the looks, the shelf would only need to be ~500mm deep.
    Could you please take a measurement as if yours was mounted on a shelf, what would be the total(minimum) depth needed? I can scale down the measure to 80" from there.
    I live in a tiny house so space to the cm is vital.
    Sorry for mixed units of measure, happy to convert them all to imperial if that helps.
    Thank you !

    • @NexiTech
      @NexiTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry my friend I don't have the same setup I have 120 inch screen with motorised cabinet and different projector. Check my last videos. But I do believe that I have answered to your questions on some of the comments in this video or in other projector related videos.
      Also I will tell you that I would not go under 100 inch for the projector screen. 80 inch is not that big and you can found 80 inch TV nowadays for reasonable price so I would choose a TV instead if we talk about 80 inch screen size.

    Don't you find the sound bouncing about like crazy with those ceramic tiles on the floor? They look very nice and all, but really not the thing for a cinema room, I'd have thought. Or is this a wife-pleasing ploy? Oh, and nice review as always.

    • @NexiTech
      @NexiTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Well these tiles are granite(stone) tiles and under them is a concrete floor with underfloor heating and on other side of this room under the stairs we have a sump pump installed under the floor(house french drain) so tiles was only logical and practical option. In comparison with laminate floor which is terrible for acoustic/sound room, these tiles are light-year better option. For example just drop a tiny screw on laminate floor and you will hear it :) Now in terms of sound/echo/bounce this room is not bad at all and we have very small echo in it. I believe that's because numerous of reasons like a thin wood ceiling with very thick insulation, because of that huge 4.5m long sofa on the opposite side of the speakers, picture on the wall, The fact that projector screen covers most of the front wall so the sound don't have many clear walls to bounce off. Also this entire room is in basement under ground so I believe that gives walls extra dampening effects. But that's just my thoughts :)

    • @trendyprojectors4743
      @trendyprojectors4743 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few ways that you can tell which is the top and bottom of the projector screen. One way is to look at the screen from the side. If the top of the screen is closer to you, then that is the top of the screen. Another way is to look at the screen from the front. If the top of the screen is closer to you, then that is the top of the screen.

    Thanks for the great review. Do you happen to have any suggestions for my situation? I am getting my first UST soon (Formovie Theater) and also will be moving in the next couple months. I was hoping a "foldable" white regular 1.1 gain screen could hold me over and them get a real ALR screen, but will the regular screen be terrible until I can? Thanks for any advice you or others may have 😀.

  • @FishFish1995
    @FishFish1995 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Regarding the "all lights off" scenario:
    There are two main differences:
    One is a pro and the other is a con.
    Pro: Firstly you get better contrast due to 1. Less ambient light, since most projector light is directed to the viewer and not the ceiling 2. The screen is grey. Naturally, black will appear a bit darker... Everything is a bit darker...
    Con: Since the screen is gray, white balance is slightly off. Everything will be darker than intended. You will never get pure white. If the projector is REALLY bright, you'll get close, but never pure white.
    Regarding any other lighting scenario, this screen's PROs far outweigh its one and only CON. However, if you are going to be watching the screen in a dark room anyway (because you want to have the best image quality possible at all times), better get a white screen...
    If you own an ultra short throw projector, search for a white ALR screen (basically one that directs light towards you and not the ceiling...)
    That's my opinion anyway... Although backed by any scientific documentation you can think of xD

      @@NexiTech hey, thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciate it! Will definitely consider Banggood then!
      I’m debating so many things with myself, whether to go with a 77” LG C10 or a short-throw. I’m also kinda not wanting my living room to look like a “man cave” so I still don’t know how far I can go 😅
      My viewing distance is only 3m (a fairly small apartment) so if I go with a projector, I’m thinking I won’t really be able to enjoy the full benefits, as I’d probably go with about 90” or so.
      Price-wise, the C10 (which is an awesome tv, and I do love oled, have a 55” C9 currently) costs about 30k SEK now, which is more or less the same I would spend on a projector with a nice projector screen.
      I’m always overthinking these things way too much 😅 I’m in Stockholm btw :)

      No problem man! Well my friend you have to decide for yourself but let me tell you that In my old place I had pretty small living room as well, with around 3m watching distance and 100 inch projector screen was a blast. It filled up the whole wall and it was very cool. Back then I had Xiaomi Mi 4K laser projector and in a smaller room was really good enough. Of course the projector can't beat the TV in terms of brightness and contrast in a daylight but it does feel way superior in image quality in dark and in lower light condition in my opinion for numerous reasons, also I like the fact that with the projector you can go much bigger then 100" up to 150inch or more when ever you want. I like that there is no reflection from windows or mirrors on the projector screen like from a TV, the image on a projector screen feels much easier on my eyes with no fatigue compare to TV screen. With the projector you watch the image that are reflected from projector screen like your eyes see the image/light that reflects from the objects in real life. The projector screen also have no hot-spots or uneven backlight or light bleeding that many large size TV-s suffers from and I also like how I can switch off image on a projector whenever I want and just listen the music on TH-cam or on other apps while on TV, screen must to be ON all the time. Also the price, for example you can go with Xiaomi 4k 1S UST projector(latest model) and with this 100" ALR screen, that's around 20k which is pretty good deal actually and compared to 100 inch TV which cost a fortune. I'm sure you will be satisfied with it but again that's just my thoughts and my opinion my friend no hard feelings :)

      @@NexiTech thanks man! I agree with all of your points regarding the projector pros, but it does come with some additional things that need to be worked out - like the placement of my center speaker, being able to dim the room properly (despite the negative screen, I’d of course always prefer a dark room) etc.
      Lots to think about 😅

    I really like your videos, because they are so naturally and without any frills...:)
    I'm really interested into buying an alr screen in the upcoming future.
    Could you tell if there is a noticeably difference between the vividstorm and the fengmi in relation to image quality?
    kind regards
    Phil

      Hi Philip, Thanks man! I didn't want to replay to your comment before I did some testing first. I rolled down Vividstorm ALR screen over the Fengmi scren around half way and I play some 4K samples and full screen Image test in different colors like White, Black, Red, Green,Blue and I did testing with and without lights. Both screens perform pretty much identical and I can't tell them apart.
      Thank you so much for your kind words and your support my friend! People like you give me positive energy and strength to stay on TH-cam and continue making more videos. I couldn't do this without you guys!

    I have a different question. It is about sound setup in conjunction with the VAVA projector. Did you connect the Logitech Z5500 directly to the VAVA or a receiver? And are you using the speaker in the vava in this setup? Is this even possible?

    • @NexiTech
      @NexiTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Z5500 is connected to the VAVA projector over the optical cable. And yes you can choose speaker output to be internal speaker, optical output, 3.5mm stereo, HDMI or over Bluetooth.
