Thanks for the video Nick. You made this assembly look so easy!
I'm about to revamp my home art studio / office (small bedroom actually) and have been looking at ways of maximizing the space without spending a fortune. I have decided on Alex drawers - the one with wheels and the narrow ones, probably 2 of each. I have a decent thick mdf work top so will stick with that for now, unless I get a good deal on an Ikea kitchen or desk top.
I also need wall shelving to replace the current home-made mdf shelves that are now sagging! I do have a lot of books so need something pretty sturdy that can be attached to the wall.
Ikea's Kallax range looks promising. Tho I'm not a great fan of the 'cube' design, it does seem strong with lots of separators for books to lean on and a plethora of extras and add-ons that can be purchased later.
The Billy range of bookcases look promising too but there are no seperators. Not sure if extras are available. Still looking into this one.
Do you think the Kallax shelving unit could be attached to the wall only, without resting on the floor, and still hold lots of books? I'd like to place it above the height of my desk.
I know you may not be able to advise but I thought I'd ask anyway!
Many thanks. 😊
Hi I would say it's far too deep for a bookcase. Also it's very heavy by itself so I wouldn't advise putting it above a desk.
