Bro u really helped me, I saw 1000 tutorials and none of them helped me, Battery Drain Method worked for my Steam Deck in my case all the buttons worked and also the touchpad but the screen was completely black and I couldn't even access the BIOS. Fr ty bro ❤
I tried the battery drain method. It didn't work out the same as in the video. I pressed the buttons, the light didn't blink but the fans kicked on, and I decided to wait to see if they'd stop and I'd have to do it again, but after a short time, the screen came back on and it's been working fine now. I wouldn't have tried it if not stumbling on this video, so thanks!
Valve needs to take serious action and hopefully there's a update or patch for this kinds of thing. For now my Steam Deck OLED hasn't have this issue. I also heard that you shouldn't use your steam deck until the battery is completely dead that also causes hardware malfunctions and black screen of death. I always charge my device at 20%!
What if it dies just from not being used? I go through periods of weeks at a time where I don't touch my Deck. Haven't had the issue but naturally, I'm concerned now
it's not a 100% it happens I had my battery lose power 2 times why I'm gaming but no problem with screen that I seen, it must be weird bug thats is hard to fix.
this is what happend to me i was playing forza until batery ran out , never came back up i have the pads feedback but no screen , is there a way to repair or send to a store to repair without valve?
@@samuelcalderon5525 I think mine used to drain within 2 weeks of not used and now charging from a drained battery I think it might had killed the screen... Barely use it, maybe a month worth? But I've had it for over a year sitting there so I doubt I have warranty anymore...should had used it more...
The black screen can also happen if you have literally no more storage for an update, so always try to make sure that there's space on the internal hard drive.
@@jedschrock7636 I had the same problem. I fixed by holding the 3 dots and power button. OS system comes up. Open option B and boot from Linux. Will factory reset and work again
I can't do any of these methods, it boots into the bios but only if I have it plugged into the charger because before this issue happened I ran into a battery problem. My Steam Deck stayed at 48% and wouldn't go up but if I unplug it then it goes down. It eventually hit 0% and will refuse to boot into Steam OS. I tried to reset it with the USB method but it will not go into the bios unless it's plugged into the charger so I unplug the charger I can't use the USB to go into bios.
So i tried everything from bios update to reinstall steam os, my deck would only work from external display. After contacting steam support this fixed mine. we would then recommend you try the following steps to reset your unit's firmware and BIOS, this may help with some issues that can cause powering on or boot issues: Ensure the device is fully powered down by holding the power button for 10 seconds or if possible select shutdown from the Power menu. Once the device is shutdown, hold down both the volume - button and the "..." button, then press the power button once. Then you can release all the buttons. You will hear a chime and then the white LED light will begin to blink (it may take 5 or more seconds before the blinking begins), which confirms this process is working. Note: This process may take 1-2 minutes to start the unit up again during which the display will remain black.
This finally worked for me!! My deck was working with an external display. So I used that to shutdown. Then held down the volume - button and the "..." button, then press the power button once while still holding the volume - button and the "..." button for a couple more seconds. Then let everything go. It took quite a while for it to come back up. Like I didn't think it worked and had just set it down next to me and randomly heard it beep and startup...SCREEN WORKING!! So give it some time. It was probably at least 10+ minutes for mine to come back up. Draining the battery did not work for me. I did enable developer mode, changed to update channel to main and updated to the most current version of the OS I was able to. Not sure if that played a role in getting it to work, but just incase anyone else is stuck.
@@Nate-kw7cn it seems like most things I found didn't clarify how to get to it and usually skipped a step. So I can see where you would be lost.
