  • @samhugh4965
    @samhugh4965 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Website recipe states 200 grams brown sugar; TH-cam tutorial states 165 grams. Which is correct? That’s a huge difference.

      @@tammybozza4703 according to google, 3/4 cups brown sugar is 163 grams, not 200. He stated 165 grams verbally so I’m assuming the website stating 200 grams is incorrect.

      It’s pretty straightforward. You saw him forget to zero out the scale - that’s the main thing to remember. 1. Turn on the scale, place your bowl, hit the “TARE” button to make the scale read zero, add your ingredient, hit “TARE” again for the next ingredient. Sometimes I use an old plastic bowl & weight things ahead before assembly.

    • @sarahbrown5373
      @sarahbrown5373 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@danbev8542 I find that if I put the bowl on the scale before I turn it on, the scale doesn't register the bowl at all, so it starts at zero. Then, I just tot up the amounts so that I have the correct number of grams for each item. That's quite straightforward.

    • @bobr6318

      This is a great question... I'm in the UK where we learned with weighing scales not cups at school - easy to take such knowledge for granted! There's already some vids on TH-cam, in case you can't wait for John to show you how 🤓

    • @sarahbrown5373
      @sarahbrown5373 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bobr6318 I'm British, in the UK....scales are so easy to use. The way I described is the easiest and most efficient way, and John has actually shown how to do it in older videos. It's the most accurate way to measure food. Modern scales will also measure in both grams and ounces, which Americans use, so these modern scales do make cooking easier on both sides of the pond.

    I have to admit, I’m a little surprised you went with chocolate chips instead of rustic chocolate chunks from a chopped up bar. But these definitely look and sound delicious!

    I love this guy……but I tried this recipe and I ended up throwing the batter out. The cookies were horrible, they had a sand like consistency, not good. I bake frequently so it’s not me it’s the recipe, maybe the baking soda.

    Why do you say 165g of brown suger but caption 200g of brown suger?

    The mixing time was much more than 5 minutes about 15 minutes to get a light mixture. Successfully done with a bit more flour than in the recipe ! what about letting the cookies resting in the fridge for 24 hours ?

    People cup-measuring things like peanut butter or mascarpone, drive me INSANE, this is one of my biggest pet peeves, haha. One more reason to love this channel.

    Tried this without the chocolate chip and they are full of peanut buttery goodness. I did have to reduce the sugar by a good 15-20% without the cookies ending up as diabetes bomb (sorry but I find western baking recipes tend to be too sweet for my taste and tbh even at that percentage of reduction in sugar I still found the cookies a tad on the very sweet side, though not overtly so. Didn’t reduce much further for fear of affecting the integrity of the cookie itself).
