I think 4GB file limite is defined by file format of SD card SDHC (Fat32 limit 4GB) SDXC (uses exFat has no 4GB limit). Stated by Sony: When an SDHC memory card is used to record an XAVC S movie over extended periods of time, the recorded movies will be divided into files 4 GB in size.
Thanks for the explanation! I don't understand much of this, but I have a Zv-e10 and did record videos that resulted in files larger than 4 GB, so I wanted to understand what was the reason why I could while he couldn't do that 😅
Update 10/3/21: I was able to get my hands on a ZV-E10 and ran some tests. I was able to record over 30min to a Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC C10, U3, v30. With this card I was able to get one file instead of it being broken up into sections. The card is formatted to exFat. So if you use a lower end card that isn’t equal or greater than the above specs you will get the broken down files like mentioned in the video. I wanted to share my findings. I believe someone else in the comments mentioned this also. Original post: Thank you for the awesome comparison. I was considering the ZV-e10 as a C camera for weddings but the files being broken up if your filming a ceremony for example is a big downer. Happy I watched your video. Nobody else had pointed that out.
@@vincenta1886 Hello Vincent. If you look at your SD card that you own, and or if you are in the market for one, you want to look at the "smaller numbers" on the cover of it. For example, I would suggest getting a Sandisk Extreme Pro with a v30 (or greater aka v60 or v90). You also want to see the number 3 inside a U shape and number 10 inside a C shape. In the end, what will make the biggest difference is the video speed class, or v30 (usually $30 to $40 now a days for $128GB card at 95mb/s write speed), v60, and v90. Hope that helps.
I went for the ZV1. Despite the fact the ZV E10 wasn't around the time I bought the ZV1. No regrets, no complaints. It's a good quality camera, simple and a straight up beast for its size
@@derekroberts5931 honestly your best bet is the ZV1 or the ZV E10 (depending if you want interchangeable lenses) they work okay with dim light but it also comes with an ND filter option in the camera witch allows you to brighten up your shot as well as the ISO

I think the issue with the ZV-1 is if you want to shoot wide. With the Sony ZV-E10 I can add a few different wide angle lenses and get more in the frame, like the Tamron 11-20. If you don't need a wide angle, then the ZV-1 might make more sense.
I sold all my DSLR and SLT stuff and got a ZV-1 a year ago. Sure, my Sachtler, my jib and grip equipment is a bit oversized now for the ZV-1, but other than that I like the reduced setup. For my current work (mostly gimbal shots during dog trainings for educational videos and some twitch streaming), it's quiet good. And since I'm german I hike a lot on vacation which is way more enjoyable with a ultralight setup. Maybe I'll get a A7C II or a A7IV at some point in the future, but right now I'm not missing my bigger setup much. :) Edit: Oh, and I got the ZV-1 for only 400€, cause I complained to Amazon that the advertised webcam feature was a joke (before they released the firmware update with the new streaming options). ;)
I respect your decision in chosing the ZV-E1. However, I don't see any gains for choosing something that would limit you long term for the exact same value. For newbies: Go with the ZV-E10 You can't go wrong with this. You will want to buy an aftermarket lens eventually anyways. Also = sensor alone says it all. Hands down ZV-E10 is an obvious choice rookie or not.
Thank you for this. I was beginning to have doubts about my ZV-1 purchase, and as someone mentioned below, I even considered trading it in. However, after watching this, I feel more confident about my choice, especially as a beginner.
I JUST bought the ZV-1 and almost broke down because I learned I paid the same price for an older camera... Was releaved to see the E10's lens make it much more expressive!
In essence, you compared the Sony ZV-E10 to the Sony A7S III b/c you didn't actually make your decision based on the individual cameras alone. You chose the Sony ZV-1 as the best option "as a companion camera" since you already have the Sony A7S III, I am assuming, to do all that the the ZV-E10 does. However, if you didn't have the Sony A7S III, which camera would you choose between the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sony ZV-1?
You can most likely solve the 4.2gig file splitting problem by formatting your sd card to exfat format. also sd cards with 64+ gigs of size usually never shows this issue. But do give it a shot with the formated SD card to exfat.

when panning on ev10 it has a terrible rolling shutter, whereas with the zv1 it has a stacked sensor which eliminates it. Best comparison video hands down. 🎉
Thanks so much!
+1 for a settings video. I'm getting mine this weekend if it shows up.
Thx alot for helped me,i get the Zv1 today cant wait for a opgrade!
Video stabilization. The ZV1 is poor and jittery. Is the E10 a marked improvement. Want to record while hiking
Bought both, actually I have upgraded to the ZV1 ii, as my EDC camera
Why is the e10 better than the zv1 for a TH-cam studio camera on a tripod?
I need a good camera to film football games full
Field coverage for my team? I currently use my iPhone 11pro and it’s really grainy when I edit it. Will the 4K recording improve the graininess with either of these? Or should I just get the iPhone 13 pro?
Is the e10 easier to remove battery and memory card while on a tripod?
Does it really overheat?
If the ZV1 only has a wider lens, it would've been the perfect camera.
You can equip Ulanzi Wide adapter at the end of the lens. It will go down to about 18mm
and usb-c port
Use a longer handheld tripod. :)
@@thatswhatisaidCA What?!
I think zv e10 is best because it can change lenses
Are the screens the sane size? It's easier to find high quality screen protectors for zv-1. They look identical to me? Thanks
Great video but still confised?
Zv1 (52k) and zv e10 (62k) need for TH-cam sitdown videos and very occasional vlogging or shoot short films. This will be my first camera. Making videos through webcam until now.
Great video thank you so much!
