I like my ZV1. I use it for capturing family and documenting life, like a camcorder, as a P&S pocket camera & for a bit of talking head videos for TH-cam I’m working on. This new one adds some good stuff, but nothing that really makes me feel a strong need to sell my XV1 and get it, so I won’t upgrade yet…but this is definitely a great choice for vlogging with some cool features.
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema I would say that I would want the lens optically stabilized, the 2.8 aperture at the long end, better battery life and ideally, the same price point as the original. And if we can’t get the lens stabilized or IBIS, I’d at least like to see the regular steady shot with less crop as we saw in the first camera.
As someone who has a Nikon Z6 and an A7iv I just wish I had a smaller body during my recent trip in London. I was carrying the A7iv + 24-70mm 2.8 sigma in my peak design 3L all day. My back just couldn’t take it anymore 😂. Plus I also had my 3K gorillapod, which wouldn’t fit in my bag because it’s ready stuffed because of the camera and the lens and I had to unplug and unscrew the RodeMic Go II which I also had with me and then set everything up, whenever I wanted to shoot or vlog and it attracted so much attention and people kept looking at me. That’s the only moment I realized how a smaller camera is so useful and why so many people go for a smaller one compared to a bigger set up, so I ended up getting getting the ZV-1 because I don’t think there’s that many improvements compared to the Mark II apart of the menu, which I thought had the same as the A7iv at first, microphone and lens, which for me is not really an improvement I do get the fact that a lot more like to showcase their surroundings when vlogging, but I just think that whenever I talking to the camera I don’t need the image to be super wide, which I believe is the thought of many vloggers tbh and if I need to show where I am at or the surroundings I just turn the camera around so people can see the actual place without my face in the middle of it. I don’t know, it’s just my thought process behind the whole thing. Although I will say the battery door is a huge improvement 😂😂
Thanks! I shoot with a Sony A7III and a ZV-1. The former on car trips, the latter when on a motorcycle tour. The ZV-1 is a great little camera, but I am trading it in for something with a viewfinder.....I don't know which camera-there are so many to chose from...
@6:00 its really a big one, the biggest mistake is they did not offer a plug to put a Dummy battery in, the E10 has it. a tough decision it is I love to see my background, and OIS and wider FOV but this makes me think to hold off some

The only advantage is the battery door/tri pod mounting--a biggie. I use a gimbal so the wider angle is not an issue as with the gimbal, the active stabilization is off on the ZV1. The updated mic is not an issue since I only use the Sony wireless set up. The lens is better on the ZV1. Touch screen is not an issue. Agree, wish the ZV1 II would have done more.

Just a question, with the mark II and only having a 720p webcam stream included you only meant with the out of the box function - right? You can still connect it like the older ZV-1 to your PC and use OBS Studio with the full resolution right?
I have the ZV-1, the ZV-E10 and the A6600 and the Rolling Shutter and lack of IBIS on the ZV-E10 is pretty bad... If you want to capture moments, while vlogging on the go, I would take the ZV-1. It's super handy and fits into almost every pocket. And as a bigger camera I would wait on newer models that are coming this year.
@@kiez_insider it's the end of the year and no new model are coming this year. if you have 4k there cameras on the market to buy. Maybe 2024. I might wait myself a little longer. I can still using my Panasonic G5. The stabilization so so, but the view finder has a dilate of 1 to 2 seconds, before it find the face or objective.
The interchangeable lense feature entice me at first, however, I remember that this camera is supposed to be as handy as your Iphone but with higher quality. So I want to pull out the camera out of my pocket and shoot immediately.
Sony should do Pocket 2 style camera with Alpha features. I like the size of the zv1m2. Also that small microphone without cords is super good. I have a question. Can camera record the card full if it is connected to the AC power while recording?
Probably the right question here is should you get the zv-1 or the zv-e10. For the form factor the difference isn't much, but for what you get for the money, the price of zv-1 is steep. With zv-e10 you get a larger sensor, an OK kit lens for which basically like free. Not the mention the freedom and options later on when you yourself "upgrade". I just can't come up with much reason with sanity to go for this one. Yes they are capable machine, I myself shoot with camera like this when I was a kid and I totally enjoyed it. But when you got to choose your own camera and you have other options I just can't see why.
I've been lugging my A7siii with 24-70 g master lens around Malaysia for the past three weeks... Love the quality of the a7siii but really starting to think if its necessary to tell travel stories. The Sony ZV-1 M2 could be a game changer for that.

A7sIII is for memories and the zony ZV-1-mark II is for chatting. sony ZV1-11 will get you more subscriber than A7sIII. why? People like to see more talking then just recording. my opinion.
That's a good point. "cinematic travel" has been played out. There's only so many cool drone shots you can watch. People what authentic experiences. Hey Jason, thanks for sharing all the information. Great video! I've got a question about using the Sony ZV1 II. I am recording my 18 holes of playing golf and consider to buy that camera, but I am not sure about the setup. Currently I use my Smartphone as a camera with an external microphone and an additional powerbank to charge my phone during the session as my battery won't last long enough. The clue is: my microphone uses USB-C as well as my phone, so I am using a splitter to charge my phone and use the microphone simultanously. How does it work with the camera? Would it be charged via my phone or would I need to buy a lot of batteries to film ~5h straight?
You would have to buy a lot of batteries definetly... I guess about 5 or 6... I think in that case another cam like the bigger alpha ones with an all day runtime Jason recommended in this video would be better...
You didn’t mention with of the cameras has the screw mount near the battery door. That is a bad feature and I don’t want that. But you just “this one is mount near door and this one doesn’t”. Which one??
I prefer the 1/4 20 in the center because I take a lot of low angle shots and often want the camera vertical. I guess for the MII I'd want to see how the screen flips up when vertical in proximity to the balance point.
Good one saved me some money on this as I was eager to get the ZV-1 Mark II but after this video I felt the Sony ZV-1 is just going to be fine for vlogs.
you should not make a big deal of the thread. there are bottom plates for ZV1 to deport the bottom thread enabling to have tripod/stick and full battery/SD card access

Other reviewers got decent onboard results indoors but yeah....I'll get a wireless first, to be used on phone and other bodies as well. 11:35 nice, I really don't want to get into LOG LUT LALA at all, 10 profiles and cine vlog mode and touch menus could sway it vs. ZV-1 I for me, taking a look at your video now, thanks. Question about files on the zv1. Each video comes with an xml. What is it for? Can I delete it or should I transfer it wherever I transfer the video it belongs to?

The Sony ZV1 Mark II is a step up from the original, but, once you turn on the stabilization, the crop you get makes it only a tiny bit wider focal length than the first iteration of this model. Simply put, not different enough to warrant it's high price. Silly toaster filters that scream novice add no value. If you want that cheese you can do it in post with a click. I don't understand the excitement about Canon Powershot V10 either. My prediction is this will go the way of the FLIP cameras. It's a toy let's be honest. Sure, it's cheap, but still is seriously flawed and ridiculously gimmicky. If you buy into the accessories by SmallRig, the thing is no longer stealthy, just butt ugly. An older GoPro has higher specs and quality, and you might even argue, the cell in your pocket produces more pleasing video. I don't understand why none of these companies can get this right. It's maddening. A race to the bottom evidently. Saying here comes this VLOGGING camera is like putting the word KETO on things, some will just buy for that alone. #disappointing #stickwithyourphone #stickwithyourGopro
Please do not but this camera, ONLY if you want to use the 18 mm + crop stabilization all the time , an NO OTHER FOCAL LENGTH. For People who owns the ZV1 it is not worthty ... for new videographers, BETTER the ZV E10 (apsc sensor, interchangable lenses, cheaper) + 11mm f1.8 + 50mm 1.8 lense and just a few dollars more for better ... i dont understand why all my Favorite TH-camrs and recommending the ZV 1 Mark 2 if they know there are better options .. please be real!

Added some useless “cine” picture profiles And all this for - MORE MONEY! This is one hell of a downgrade….! I am genuinely confused what were they thinking… maybe they were confused and wanted to release ZV-1F ii? I don’t understand.

@@JasonMorrisphotocinema the only thing this offers over the OG ZV-1 is the wider lense. This is what the 1F SHOULD have been. They can rename this camera the “ZV-1W” (for wide) 😀
Here is an interesting comparison. The New ZV-1 II with 18-50 mm (FF equivalent) lens has been priced at 900$. But if you look at Nikon, they have a Z-30 body which is priced at 600 currently. And a 12-28 mm (18-42 mm FF eq.) lens priced at 350! The whole setup will cost around 950! The lens has 4.5 stops of optical IS which sony one doesn’t. It has better battery. You can interchange lenses when you need. And because it's an apsc, the image quality will be better & better low light performance. If I have the budget around 900, I think it's better to go with the nikon.

Does anyone vlog these days anyway, the only time I see people vlogging is when content creators are trying “vlog cameras” the lens for me is a downgrade. If I do vlog I always have a tripod selfie stick. I would like the touchscreen capabilities and the Mount screw location, that’s about It otherwise my zv-1 is better. Oh wait “cinematic vlog mode” …..haha what a waste of development time. I can still use the hfr too, I can’t believe they are ditching this😤. If only Sony released firmware for their older cameras like Panasonic did. Even if it’s a paid upgrade for the touchscreen, I would pay that put I’m sure as hell not gonna buy this new camera for it
the FOV is much more important for short girls like me my face will pretty much fill up the screen wih GV-1, even when i try stretching my arms as far as i can😂
Definitely not close to that. ZV-1f is very very budget and not really as useful. Different lenses, focussing systems, menus systems, and much more as in the video

I'd rather save $100 and get the ZV-E10 with kit lens. This is a very lackluster "upgrade" that in someways is a downgrade at the same price point.

The Sony ZV1 Mark II is a step up from the original, but, once you turn on the stabilization, the crop you get makes it only a tiny bit wider focal length than the first iteration of this model. Simply put, not different enough to warrant it's high price. Silly toaster filters that scream novice add no value. If you want that cheese you can do it in post with a click. I don't understand the excitement about Canon Powershot V10 either. My prediction is this will go the way of the FLIP cameras. It's a toy let's be honest. Sure, it's cheap, but still is seriously flawed and ridiculously gimmicky. If you buy into the accessories by SmallRig, the thing is no longer stealthy, just butt ugly. An older GoPro has higher specs and quality, and you might even argue, the cell in your pocket produces more pleasing video. I don't understand why none of these companies can get this right. It's maddening. A race to the bottom evidently. Saying here comes this VLOGGING camera is like putting the word KETO on things, some will just buy for that alone. #disappointing #stickwithyourphone #stickwithyourGopro
Canon v10 is on another level
Please do not but this camera, ONLY if you want to use the 18 mm + crop stabilization all the time , an NO OTHER FOCAL LENGTH. For People who owns the ZV1 it is not worthty ... for new videographers, BETTER the ZV E10 (apsc sensor, interchangable lenses, cheaper) + 11mm f1.8 + 50mm 1.8 lense and just a few dollars more for better ... i dont understand why all my Favorite TH-camrs and recommending the ZV 1 Mark 2 if they know there are better options .. please be real!

Better battery (still bad life)
New menu (only thing they did)
Better stabilizer (they completely removed)

Better quality slo-mo (they completely removed it!)
Added some useless “cine” picture profiles
And all this for - MORE MONEY!

@@JasonMorrisphotocinema 4k60 10 bit. The sensor is obviously capable. Overheats sure but I have a custom aluminium base plate that presses up against the back and 100% solves that.
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema the only thing this offers over the OG ZV-1 is the wider lense. This is what the 1F SHOULD have been. They can rename this camera the “ZV-1W” (for wide) 😀

Here is an interesting comparison.
The New ZV-1 II with 18-50 mm (FF equivalent) lens has been priced at 900$.
But if you look at Nikon, they have a Z-30 body which is priced at 600 currently. And a 12-28 mm (18-42 mm FF eq.) lens priced at 350! The whole setup will cost around 950! The lens has 4.5 stops of optical IS which sony one doesn’t. It has better battery. You can interchange lenses when you need. And because it's an apsc, the image quality will be better & better low light performance.
If I have the budget around 900, I think it's better to go with the nikon.

Does anyone vlog these days anyway, the only time I see people vlogging is when content creators are trying “vlog cameras” the lens for me is a downgrade. If I do vlog I always have a tripod selfie stick. I would like the touchscreen capabilities and the Mount screw location, that’s about It otherwise my zv-1 is better. Oh wait “cinematic vlog mode” …..haha what a waste of development time. I can still use the hfr too, I can’t believe they are ditching this😤. If only Sony released firmware for their older cameras like Panasonic did. Even if it’s a paid upgrade for the touchscreen, I would pay that put I’m sure as hell not gonna buy this new camera for it

Definitely not close to that. ZV-1f is very very budget and not really as useful. Different lenses, focussing systems, menus systems, and much more as in the video
