I've always been interested in Pikmin, but never got around to actually playing any of them. With the release of Pikmin 4 this year, I figured now is the time to actually check it out. I decided to play every single Pikmin game, even the spinoff, and see what these real-time strategy and puzzle games are all about.

I love how olimar has canonically:
    - had sex at least two times
    - smoked weed
    - fought or at least been threatened by space pirates
    - gotten spam from lonely housewives in his area
    - attended a rave
Olimar has lived a wild life.

Powerful streams of light, nonstop beats that assault the senses, a haze of smoke and music, and dancing Pikmin! It's like being back in the discotheques of my youth!”

      What God Values.
The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.
      -Luke 10:1
It was a critical time in the ministry of Jesus. His ministry in Galilee was over, and His journey to Jerusalem had begun.
So Jesus selected seventy-two disciples in addition to the Twelve who already were following Him. He gave these new disciples a special commission to work like an advance team going into various communities and cities.
He also gave them these instructions: “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields. Now go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves”
      (Luke 10:2-3).
Clearly Jesus cared about people. In Matthew’s treatment of the same story, we read, “When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd”
      (Matthew 9:36)
Jesus felt compassion for these people. He loved and cared about them. Everywhere Jesus went, people mobbed Him. And not only did He take time for the people who wanted a touch here or a word there, but He also sought out hurting and empty people.
For instance, there was the woman at the well in Samaria. Because of the tension between the Jews and Samaritans, it was highly unusual for Jesus to go to a city in Samaria. Not only that, but He sought out an immoral woman who had been married and divorced five times. Then He engaged her in conversation. He went out of His way to meet with her.
He also went to Jericho and met the tax collector Zacchaeus. He called Zacchaeus to come down from the tree where he was sitting and said, “I must be a guest in your home today” (Luke 19:5)
People criticized Jesus for talking to someone who made his living off the misery of others. But Jesus said, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost”
      (verses 9-10)
In the original language, the word Jesus used for “lost” speaks of something with value that is broken. And people are broken because of sin.
Yet Jesus sees behind the facade. He sees behind the defense mechanisms and hears the real cry of their hearts. We need to see people the same way. They are people for whom Christ died.
These are critical times for getting the gospel out. There are open doors today that may not remain open forever. Jesus, speaking to the last days church, said, “I have opened a door for you that no one can close”
      (Revelation 3:8)
We need to recognize how valuable souls are to God. Jesus said there is rejoicing in Heaven over one sinner who repents (see Luke 15:7).
God cares about souls. And we need to care about them as well.

Purposefully sacrificing pikmin without a shred or remorse. HATING on the BREADBUGS?!?!?! And completely skipping Man-at-legs in 2 is a travesty. But the one that threw me across the room like a gary's mod ragdoll was the fact that they didn't find white pikmin in 4 until THE VERY LAST LEVEL OF THE GAME. Absolutely wild video but hella entertaining seeing someone play the game this differently than I did. Glad someone else got into pikmin but I feel a bit bad knowing I'll be seeing this person on the news for committing some crazy crime in a couple of years.

In case you didn't know, in the first two games you can use the C-Stick to direct the pikmin around you. When using the C-Stick, your pikmin will attack any enemy, break any wall, or pick up any object that they come into contact with. It's really easy to combo enemies by throwing the purple ones from a distance (which stuns them), followed by using the C-Stick to swarm the enemy. It basically deletes enemies. The pikmin 3 Final Region can be easy if you use Brittany with 10 wings to carry olimar and run in circles to distract the blob. You have to utilize the go here function and the make the way for her so she can reach the final boss stage.
And the final boss can’t kill you with 100 rock pikmin you just have to kill the cubes before they can do elemental damage. And the reason it took you so long was because it kept recovering it’s health through it.

Pikmin 3 was supreme and my favorite before Pikmin 4. At first, I thought Pikmin 4 wasn't good, but I gave it one long play one night and was convinced it was the best. Lots of variety in P4.

I very recently (like last weekend) completed my first CO-OP of Pikmin 3, a feature they should've included in Pikmin 4, and it was A LOT of fun. I just don't understand Nintendo. They have the best games, but hardly any online games and very few co-op games. SM Wonder finally included some co-op like New Super Mario Wii a DECADE ago. I just wish Nintendo embraced the internet for a change.

great video!! its so much fun as a pikmin veteran to see how new players react to the franchise. i've played all the games again since Pikmin 4 reminded me how much I love the series and I have to agree with your rankings. I went into Pikmin 4 thinking Pikmin 2 was my favourite in the series, but seeing how well they handled the caves in 4 really shows the flaws of 2's random generation. Pikmin 1 i think is just the perfect level of complexity to make you want to keep going back, optimising and replaying it, and something about the simplicity of the narrative hits so perfectly compared to the complexity in the other games. Olimar's end of day logs are also so insightful and really made me love him as a character. Recently learned all the logs were written by an engineer at Nintendo who bought 4 different books to work each day to read, and that honestly makes so much sense with how lovingly written they are.

In the final boss of Pikmin 3, you deal damage by destroying the blobs that fall off after attacking the main body. Based on your footage and narration it seems you thought you just had to throw pikmin at its body, that's why you had a hard time fighting it.

this was a nice video to watch, seeing someone play pikmin for the first time without any nostalgia or previous connections to it. pikmin 3 is my favorite and i make a point to play it start to finish every day if i can (i can beat it in less than an hour don't worry, i do have a life) usually i get frustrated watching people play since they act like they know what they're doing when they clearly don't but you didn't do that and it was so fun to see what you do in situations where i would do something more "optimal", brought me nostalgia from when that was me.

The crimson banquet this needs 100 pikmin and gosh is it repetitive it’s kind of button mashing because it keeps saying “there’s no treasure nearby that you have enough pikmin for!” Then you find 3 more and you repeat it again if you really want to you can but I personally think that it’s mid because you just reset after, so yeah.

I think in Pikmin 4, they missed the point of caves and made them more accessible, which has its pros and cons. It's really up to personal preference, but to be clear with what I mean, they removed the resource management aspect of these caves, and the cave are no longer randomly generated and that made them so much easier. I mean, the only time I reset was during the final boss, which is a bit of a shame.
