The formats complement each other very well, I think people should be willing to play both and stop trying to stake a claim that one is better than another.
exactly, they really aren't that comparable to each other. If you want a more "turbo" style of gameplay but don't like how far true modern yugioh has gone, Edison is the absolute perfect middle ground. If you would rather play a slower more card trading style of gameplay, or simply don't like archetypes or "extra deck" era, Goat will objectively serve you better than Edison.
1 point which you really overlooked in favour of Edison particularly, is that deck building is way, way more varied Edison. Most people don't choose a format based on its card variety alone, as "quality" is more important than "quantity" when it comes to enjoyability of the format's gameplay. You could make a laundry list of formats that were very diverse but had pretty dull gameplay. Troop Dup Format (summer 2007) probably being the best example of that. Meanwhile, you had formats like Plants (fall 2011) that were mostly just mirror matches but had pretty interesting gameplay. I don't really find one factor to be related to the other. A buffet of shit is no better or worse than one plate of shit.
@@GoatDuels Okay fair but you still have yet to mention that though there are a number of different decks in goat format, due to the use of the same 10 spell and trap cards deck varity tends to feel somewhat samey. @@elib7911it’s true, however you don’t have to play all 10 for a good deck, in deck building for goat I often will have only 3-4 shared spells between decks because the play style in each deck is totally different. So it’s not always the same 10, but at least it’s always the same 2 (pot and graceful) Edit: I looked over my goat decks and it’s more like 5-7 shared spells on average for a competative deck
Think your forgetting how Popular Gx and 5d anime were for people who also play Edison heavily. Dont underestimate the power of Anime nostilgia briging people back to past formats. Seems you kinda upset Goat been around for 10+ years isnt hasnt really had the same type of fan fair Edison has been getting this past year but idk @@GoatDuels
Hmm, I feel like your view of Edison is centered around the perspective of playing frog variants. Yes Substitoad is insanely broken, no denying that. But I view it as the Reasoning Gate deck of Edison (Goat has their high roll combos too!) However the deck’s ceiling only goes so high and the combo version you’re playing hasn’t been taking down rbets and other events. The decks that are winning the most; Vayu Turbo, BW, Hero Beat, and to a lesser extent Diva Hero are much closer to the classic yugioh advantage based style of play than you’re giving the format credit for.
As a Magic player, GOAT format appeals to me more. That said, both formats do a great job of capturing thier respective strengths in gameplay and merging them with both relatively diverse metas and iconic and powerful cards. People should strive to master both, like being good at both Modern and Legacy in MTG
lol @ Edison having a non toxic community. The entire yugioh community is mostly toxic. Full of keyboard warriors that have zero grasp on life. They may act “glhf “ but they turn fast into little creatures
13:50 I may be wrong, but you can't actually respond to Vayu with d.d. crow, as it all happens at once. You have to do it prior to them using Vayu's effect.
I started playing again a year ago after 18 years off. I was barely able to take people's toxicity at the beginning and almost gave up playing. win with honor and sportsmanship and respect for your opponent, or its not winning. How many times I say good luck bro and no one will even reply to any play commentary unless absolutely necessary (ex calling reasoning level) is ridiculous.
It’s really annoying having to type “good luck to you too” every single new match. When you play dozens of games, it becomes a chore. I hope you understand. That being said, I’m still not going to say anything impolite.
@@justinmadrid8712 I can't imagine a simple 2 letter "gl" is really that hard, especially when someone makes the effort to say it to you first. If both players want to play in silence that's fine, but at least don't leave a polite player hanging if they say gl.
@@anothervocalist1944 Let me blow your mind. It is actually _more_ rude to demand someone respond to you in chat for something that is not a requirement to play the game. I do not like typing 'glhf' at the start of every match. I find it very annoying and meaningless, because many of the people who say 'glhf' end up being toxic anyways. In real life, it is a totally different story. But online when people are grinding game after game, it just becomes a meaningless obligatory routine to say 'glhf' every single game.
I love both formats and currently trying to get decks for both. I'm missing a bunch of cards, but i'll get there. Even if people like one format over the other, that's okay. They can both be enjoyed seperately or together.
You mentioned in the video that you didnt understand why blackwing decks were only playing one oppression. The reason for this is because blackwing variants (eother traditional or turbo) are perceived to be one of the strongest deck choices, and particularly when edison was first becoming popular it was the most consistent by far of placing decks in the top cut of tournaments (one event even had all of the top 4 decks place were either traditional blackwings or vayu turbo) sp the meta became to only play one oppression since it was only ok against the mirror. I think edison has gone past that point and other decks are putperforming blackwing variants in the format, but you know how lazy yugioh players are with deckbiilding choices, they see that list x only had one oppression in the main so im just gonna copy that without thinking about it.
I think the sociological reasons you mentioned for Edison being more popular on the ladder atm are valid. But as goat player thinking of trying out Edison it’s because I’m tired of playing against Chaos Turbo, dealing with both Sorc AND bls is not fun to play against and whether it’s tier zero or not it is waaay too common.
I just think that goat players are getting tired of the format in general and a lot of making the jump to Edison because it’s still not as crazy as Advanced format but still way faster than goat. There’s a shop in my city that used to host goat format tournaments and maybe like 10-15 people would show up for them, now that same group of guys and even new people started playing Edison and they no longer host goat format it’s just Edison now. That alone convinces me that Edison is just becoming way more popular than goat has been even the last 5 years
New suscriber, and thank you for taking Edison format topic on your channel, hope u'll create more content about it. I was triying to play goat in my country but it's a little bit difficult cuz card lacking, still I'll recieve your knowledge about it and will support my comunity at least to do it online, peace ✌️
i agree with the section about quality of community regarding goat format. i enjoy the gameplay of goat format more than edison generally, but the goat format community just isnt a very fun place to hang out much of the time
Im glad you exposed the toxic behaviors of the goat community, It really was the community that drove me away from the format. Edison does have a better community although I feel like both communities need to be more welcoming to newcomers, I've had many experiences in both where the opponents get offended if I don't know the rulings or errata of certain cards. Yugioh is very complex and is more confusing going back to old formats that have inconsistent rulings that differ from modern or that are just counterintuitive.
Edison does have a ton of different viable decks in comparison to GOAT. Honestly there feels more and more like there are only really 2 tournament viable GOAT decks. Even moreso 9/10 GOAT decks feel the same and use a huge portion of the same cards. Compare that to edison and you are looking at a whole different animal. You have honestly 12 decks that could easily win a huge tournament. Blackwings, Vayu, Fairy, Plants, Heros, Frog monarch, hero frog, norealas, Dragon control, dragon turbo, ect. Edison has a very creative scene where people are constantly invovating and driving it forwards as well. Its not perfect, there are some really problematic cards (Brain Control, Future Fusion, Absolute Zero, Dark Armed to name a few) but outside of brain control you may of may not see alot of those cards played against you. Compare to GOAT where no matter what you play you will see PoG, Graceful, Duo, BLS and serpent
@@exiledknight3961 yeah but to defend the edison guy, chaos turbo and warrior are braindead, that's what is the big issue. I think that Goat Control mirrors can be extremely skill expressive but how much do you see them really.
@@exiledknight3961 that depends on what you want, regardless of the skill expression some people might find the lack of variety boring and stale. I like the skill expression in goat but I can see why that format wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Also, I wouldn't sleep on the skill gaps in edison. I myself enjoy both formats and feel nostalgic for them after being heavily turned off by modern yugioh.
Goat format is far more explored than Edison. How long has Goat format been on duelingbook? If you go back a few years, you would see WAY more variety than what you see now. People eventually discovered the best decks and how to optimally play them and that pushed most decks out of the meta and into the casual sphere. Edison JUST came to duelingbook; I guarantee that there will only be 3-4 "viable decks" in a year or two. That's not a knock on the format; that's just the simple truth of EVERY format in YGO. If a format is played enough, the best decks will eventually just push out the rest.
Before watching the video, I been thinking about diving into Edison, so glad your breaking the ice. I’m really curious on what’s like the best decks are for the format and how do they win or how is it different from other formats. Anyways, glad to be watching this. Cheers. I have Yugioh Tag Force 5 I think, for PSP. I just like playing yugioh on consoles over PC, im wondering if it’s close to edison.
After even more time playing since I recorded this video, I'm quite confident that the best 3 decks are (in no particular order): Frogs, Blackwings, Dragons.
The video is interesting but your observations need to be a lot more nuanced imo. A good ladder winrate isn't very meaningful when the ladder deck spread is all over the place, the skill level is low on average and the machmaking/elo system is flawed. I'm not saying that's worthless either but it's definitely not enough to jump into informed conclusions. For exemple, saying with confidence that vayu turbo is bad, based on the fact that you went 7-1 against random people on ladder isn't good logic imo, considering how well the deck does in high level online tournaments. You can't make accurate competitive analysis on a semi-casual environnement.
I don't think you can overstate the importance that community has on the format. I'm a longtime TCG player and actually made the comeback to Yu-Gi-Oh in the past year. I was poking around for a cool retro format to play with some of the cards I grew up with and initially found Goat on DB. When I was playing with people, I was pretty often met with rudeness, dismissive attitudes, and a lot of condescending tones from many of the players in unranked games. Not all of them, and there were some cool people, but enough. I ended up finding Edison and, even though a lot of the cards were new to me (quit during GX era), I found the gameplay to still be fun and scratch that itch, with the players being on the whole a lot more cool and respectful. If I did something silly like try to Bottomless a Gorz or when first starting off, the player would just let me know I couldn't do that. If I mis-sequenced, they'd let me take it back or point out a better line so I could learn for a future game. The community felt like a place where people were more focused on having a good game, rather than sharking or egoing on their opponent, which made me choose that format over Goat. I think that Goat's gameplay has a lot of great pros, and I actually prefer a lot of what that cardpool offers over Edison, but I have had a lot more fun playing Edison because of who I am sitting across the table from in paper or on DB. Games are meant to be fun after all, and you can try hard and play to perform without being a "try hard," which some people in the Goat community struggled to recognize in my experience.
I think the format is full of copium. prime example people throw a DAD/ 1 sorc on a deck and call it dad or chaos lol. It’s also full of nerfed copium engines/ Almost full power engines. The only thing that gets established playing the Edison format is what was the better deck only for that SJC. The format also changed rapid with next few releases. At least with GOAT format it was a full format of these decks without much change. personally I’d like to see “edison “ advance up too the last available card pool b4 next banlist. Just like GOAT was.
Adding infiernitys and herald of perfection would be good for the format so blackwings can have some competition. that set also contains good generic cards like into the void so i really support your idea but i dont think the community will be willing to go for such huge change before even building a proper competitive scene and solving the format like goat
Deck's fun, it once was believed to be the best deck of the format but those dreams were crushed by Vayu Turbo's Deck Dev or Dragon Turbo wiping out defenses, going full board with Koaki Meiru Draco for game.
I think Goat format is the Halo 2 of Yugioh while Edison is the Halo 3 of Yugioh. It even overlaps with the player base, the age of players, and to a lesser extent (not everyone had xbox and FPS) what the player base literally played. This is the best comparison as both those games are respected from the Halo community as the golden age and have haters between communities as well.
TLDR: Vayu looks like it's bad on paper, but in reality, the deck is insane and it keeps winning. Thinking Vayu Turbo is overrated isn't really a hot take, everyone who plays Edison for a decent amount of time ends up saying something like "why is Vayu Turbo so good? It seems pretty bad on paper". And while yes, on paper it doesn't look like it would be good, you are overlooking how adaptable the deck is. Ryko may be slow, but it's not like the deck needs Ryko for it to go off. But even so, it is the best Ryko/Caius deck in the format because the cards you want to mill have utility on their own (even Vayu can be set as a bluff and if your opponent burns resources to out it, you have turned a card doing nothing in your hand into a 1 for 1 trade. And in a format where card advantage is so relevant, that is important). So apart from being the best deck for the Ryko/Caius engine, the deck is also: -the best Grepher deck: You mentioned that the deck is slow but those hands where you are allowed to go Grepher, pitch Vayu/Sirocco for their counterpart, summon an Armed Wing and attack with both accelerates the gamestate so much. You have just delt 4000lp to your opponent all because they didn't have a monster they wanted to commit to the board. It might not seem like a big deal, but being under like 4500lp in Edison is not a safe place to be. -the best deck for Burial: I don't have to explain this one, Burial is an insane card on its own and the fact that it can turn into 1 or maybe even 2 huge monsters by itself is ridiculous. -the best Royal Oppression deck: you mentioned that the format is so combo heavy and as long as that stays constant, Vayu is going to be a good deck because Royal Op counters that while it doesn't hit their own gameplan at all. I apologize for the long message. I just wanted to give a little insight because I think everyone goes through the phase of thinking Vayu kind of sucks. But, the deck continues to do well, and even with all the optimizations we have made over this year, it was the best deck of 2023 by a pretty wide margin.
I never judge decks based on what they look like "on paper." Out of my 100 matches, I went 7-1 vs Vayu Turbo. I would've loved to feature one of those matches in the video, but most of them were very boring. The deck would typically just do nothing for a few turns and lose. Their key combo only does 4000 vs an empty board and no Gorz/Trag/Fader. On the other hand, Dragons' combo does 8000+ while often stopping the opponent from dropping Gorz/Trag/Fader. Crow is also massively underplayed, which also happens to disrupt Vayu a lot (and siding Crows in definitely helped me). Ryko/Caius isn't very good in modern Edison because again, too slow. Even in the Plant/Frog deck, Ryko underperforms, and Caius is only here because it's great with Treeborn. I played vs a lot of Ryko+Caius style decks on the ladder, and they're all massively underpowered compared to basically anything else you can be doing. Sure, you can cheese some wins with Oppression, which while being a great card, is not really something that you can base an entire strategy around. Most decks have ways to kill it, so you'll need to win most of your games without an Oppression in play.
@@GoatDuels the format is not fast enough for Ryko to be pushed out entirely. It's gotten faster, yes, but decks aren't consistent enough to go all turbo all the time. You mentioned Dragon Turbo a number of times in the video and it'sa good example of this. The deck build has been optinized to be pretty consistent, but it still isn't the best deck because it isn't consistent enough. If it were, it would probably be tier 0, because if it gets it's play off, it probably just wins. I'm also willing to bet that most of the Vayu players you played against weren't very good. Not trying to take anything away from you because you seem like a pretty good player and you clearly have a good mind for the game, but Vayu with a good pilot is an entirely different story. As I said, the deck keeps winning in spite of the fact that it looks like it shouldn't. It won NA Nats, RBET Rulers, and a number of other big tournaments this year. So until it actually gets pushed out, I can't help but agree to disagree with you.
Got into goat format recently, it's fun and nostalgic. On one hand, it's decent in terms of mind games and skill... On the other hand there are times where it's degen af and tosses all that skill out the window. I guess that's part of the appeal lol. Duo is the only card that format I truly hate. Think I'mma try getting into edison next.
I think the market sets the game. Because goat format has tighter gameplay (I hesitate to say better, because it really depends on the person playing) it means there is less deck variety therefore, less match up dependency therefore, more skill required to win a game. This along with the prize support as you correctly identified means that it is just a more cutthroat environment where there is more at steak for people. I think it is inevitable that the more competitive game has the more toxic scene, there are so many anecdotal examples of this. The tighter gameplay is inherently linked to the toxic environment and your reach isn't enough to make people start treating people with respect. I personally prefer Edison format, but I have got a big history with both formats. Additionally I genuinely feel that some people enjoy the toxic environments which is another reason things wont change. You should know from experience that it is very easy to get caught up in the drama even if you don't want to, I think a large majority of discord users in general have an inherent desire to get the last word in on a debate.
honestly, i went to edison because goat often feels solved, and edision seems unsolved AND has like 10 good decks, while goat has like 5 good decks and 3 of them are chaos variants
Lets be honest, every format has its problems, but it comes down to the quality and the number of people who find enjoyment in that format. Both goat and edison have their problems. The cards dont vary much from deck to deck in goat but the small decisions that can change games and short turns with counterplay is appealing. Where as granted theres engines and synchro and summoning and some small combos in edison, the variety in the format is also very appealing, blackwing, vayu turbo, heros, frogs, amarylis, glads, machina, Lightsworn, fairies. And theae are just some of the tier 1-1.5 decks. I dont think they'll ever be a "best" format but these are both very fun to play and each have their merits
I returned to Goat after a while and forgot some minor rulings and people were really kind and we could discuss it. I said mb sorry and they said np and we continued our match But maybe thats because i play unranked
I went from goat to Edison when my local shops did the same. Tbh there is no real difference between them. Sack is sack. Edition is more rng and goat is set spy summon bls
To adress "microdesicions" point, I would like to point out, it highly depends on the deck you're playing. If we talk about frogs (as shown in video), then yeah you have several objectives you're optimizing to hit ASAP, however decks like vayu or quickdraw often have multiple lines where it's rarely obvious what you should be doing...
No disrespect to the channel, but I genuinely associate debates like this with autism. Goat is the superior format in terms of skill, but I prefer to play both as there's literally no reason to restrict yourself to one format. Edison has the less toxic community 100%.
My cousin keeps trying to tell me to play Edison but I'm a goat format type guy. I played before the first banlist until chaos was banned and I basically stopped playing quite a while before synchros or pendulums (whichever came first).
Why? I remember my first synchro spamming days as a teenager without really trying. I think it was some time after edison. Level eater was broken back then. My point is that, to a goat format seeking person, more than one deck having more than two special summons per turn is very very silly. I can only think about Gorz being a very interesting effect back then. Idk.
Exactly, after Edison. There's no deck in Edison that can Synchro spam turn 1. Edison is a relatively low powered format, even next to other historic formats around the same time (TeleDAD, Frog FTK and Tengu Plant are all high powered and around the same timeframe as Edison). Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is all about big, consistent combos turn 1, something that does not exist in Edison.@@guilhermeandradedaveiga5605
I think Edison is much closer to Goat than it is to modern Yugioh. I get that there's some powerful monsters like Substitoad, but even when you resolve it fully, all you end on is a dupe lock, which only protects itself from battle, and the main advantage of this is to defend yourself in order to slowly make 1 or 2 plays each turn. It doesn't even remotely win the game by itself. In other words, there's still back and forth over several turns and most decks need Traps to be able to protect themselves on the opponent's turn. Card advantage and +1's are still the main focus. "Building boards" and comboing isn't much of a focus at all because boss monsters are all easily beatable, and it's usually better to take it slow, set some traps, and not over-commit. This is drastically different from modern yugioh, where the whole game often takes place in 2 turns so you have to combo on turn 1 consistently.
I don't think it makes sense to main or side. All of the backrows that you're most scared of are ones that stop you from going Substitoad into Unifrog (like Royal Oppression). It really only has a couple of niche applications like killing Future Fusion, forcing your opponent to use up their set Mirror Force, or naturally drawing it to kill Oppression while you have Treeborn. Lyla/Caius seem like a better way to do the same job unless Rivalry of Warlords starts becoming popular (and even then, there's still Mobius)
I like how you don't have anything good to say about the game play of Edison and only use the whole video as advertising for goat and don't even try to make a fair comparative of strengths and weakness of both formats that would have been a good video but not just trying to convert people and nothing else.
Let me guess, you'd also find it unfair if you came across a Fortnite channel that was promoting Fortnite, or a Minecraft channel that was promoting Minecraft?
@@GoatDuels Yes if the premise of the video where: Let's compare Fornite to PUBG and instead of trying to compare the two the video just ask me to play fornite, I know you prefer it and that is fine but in order to your opinion about it hold any value to anyone else you should speak about the pros and cons of both fairly, nobody expects you to be neutral or to pick Edison, just try to be open about it, both formats have lots of pros and cons, so is not like you don't have much to talk about it. If the premise of the video where: Why I don't like Edison that is perfectly fine, but who is the target audience from that video? People who already like goat more would not get anything out of it, people who prefer Edison are not going to get anything since you don't seem to know why is fun for them, and people who are undecided or just getting into retro formats are not getting any real arguments or comparison.
@@freischutz898 I explained the differences in gameplay and said, "Which one you prefer is a matter of preference." If that's not fair enough for you, I don't know what to tell you. Go make your own video I guess.
If you think Ryko is bad, then by extension Lyla must be even worse because it is probably the worst normal summon in the deck. Why not take this engine out? Or do you think just the game where you open/draw Charge are worth running these cards?
Frog is a know pain in the ass. Its the burn of edison format. The solution is heavy siding against it. Its not fun to play against it but its not the end of the world. I dont even like Edison Format that much but its variety and decent gameplay is enough to make it appealing to most. Goat Format is nice but it has its flaws and eventually you grow tired of playing the same decks, considering that chaos turbo is the best decks. Also i'd say that not all people play Frogs but nearly all decks (only Burn doesn't)play Delinquent Duo,so a new player that tries the format may be put off from being DD.
Playing against or using burn is a lot more fun than frog to me. Goat's burn is the most balanced and fun form of burn out of all the popular formats. A better comparison would be library ftk which is easily the most toxic in goat. Also, one of the best decks in edison is dragons which again is similar to library ftk, even more than it is to reasoning. If you think edison is without sacking you need to watch the feature matches and replays of people who actually won the popular Edison tournaments or rbet, with or without duo sacking is a part of yugioh. Goat is repetitive, but it's a good kind of repetitive. For example, Halo 2 with competitive settings is better than Halo Infinite with its larger sandbox even if Infinite's weapons are mathematically designed to have similar TTK. I prefer the "mirrors" of goat format just like I prefer a BR start on midship over a "balanced" modern shooter on more maps. Maybe Edison would be more of a Halo 3 or Halo Reach in this analogy, but the point still stands.
@@ZL_cloud well,im one of them and won a big Edison tournament (was 100+ people) with Hero Frog. Edison is also a sacky format (there's no perfect format) but it's sackiness is countered by the big variety of playable decks. BTW there's no perfect Yu-Gi-Oh format and all formats have their sacky cards: GOAT has trinity + all the power spells and monsters. Edison has brain-con, Dupe Lock starts,DAD,Hamster+Caius starts and Future Fusion;Tengu Plant has BLS,Dark Hole and Royal Tribute + Necrovalley and Dragon Turbo;Vegas has armor+geargiagear start;HAT has hands and soul charge. In the end you just have to pick your poison and people are choosing to be poisoned playing a large quantity of decks (Edison) over poisoning with few decks(GOAT). I never played Halo or war videogames so I didn't understand your analogy, sorry.
I think goat format is the best format ever IF .. they banned grace/duo and bls. it has so many different decks, different strategies. the only thing that sucks is that your opponent can often just sack you and win out of nowhere for no reason at all. u don't have to be good to use duo/grace, u just win by simple +3 for no reason at all. this is what ruins goat format
I consider Edison garbage, period. I have no interest in it when I look at replays. Not to mention GX/5D is the worst era of Yugioh for artworks. Nice ultimate rare. A shame the monster looks like a doofus. Seriously Dark Armed Dragon's pose is terrible. Keep coping. I will stick with modern and play boomer goat only when I am completely bored.
Currently, you JDZ and even Ruxin are the current leaders of the goat format community. The amount of assholes on ladder can change as more new players experience the community under the example you all set. It’s only getting better. Edit: Arnt you still working on your own platform? That’s a step in the right direction imo
Everyone go and do yourself a Favor lol. Go look at the Past GOAT Format Big events and their top decks....Now go and look at Edison Big events. While I personally think Edison is THE modern yugioh (cause that was around when I played), for most people it might be old school.
Goat all the way
As a Magic player, GOAT format appeals to me more. That said, both formats do a great job of capturing thier respective strengths in gameplay and merging them with both relatively diverse metas and iconic and powerful cards. People should strive to master both, like being good at both Modern and Legacy in MTG

I started playing again a year ago after 18 years off. How many times I say good luck bro and no one will even reply to any play commentary unless absolutely necessary (ex calling reasoning level) is ridiculous.

It’s worth a try. I was mainly a goat player until I tried Edison. Edison is bonkers fun
That alone convinces me that Edison is just becoming way more popular than goat has been even the last 5 years
That's literally why I've been getting bored of goat too, every game is literally chaos turbo. Edison is a lot more fun.
Unfortunately, theres also an issue where the larger a player base gets, the more assholes there are even if it’s a small percentage of the pie.

Variety isnt always better. Many of the formats that were considered the most skilled formats were, formats, that were mirror matches.
@@exiledknight3961 yeah but to defend the edison guy, chaos turbo and warrior are braindead, that's what is the big issue. I think that Goat Control mirrors can be extremely skill expressive but how much do you see them really.
@@АнгелЩупалов I wouldnt really say they are brain dead, at the higher levels. But if u want to simplify than many edison decks are brain dead.
@@GoatDuelsWhat if you played 100 games from the perspective of a BW or dragon deck? Maybe your top 3 might change.
Some of the matches that I played were with BWs. Solid deck, and Dark Armed Dragon is probably the best card in the entire format.
You can't make accurate competitive analysis on a semi-casual environnement.
what are the 15 cards in the extra deck? i am not familiar with all the edi syncrhos and wanted to try this out
I don't think you can overstate the importance that community has on the format.

Love them both ❤
I think Goat format is the Halo 2 of Yugioh while Edison is the Halo 3 of Yugioh.
So apart from being the best deck for the Ryko/Caius engine, the deck is also:
-the best Grepher deck: You mentioned that the deck is slow but those hands where you are allowed to go Grepher, pitch Vayu/Sirocco for their counterpart, summon an Armed Wing and attack with both accelerates the gamestate so much.
@@GoatDuels last major edison turnament finals were vayu vs vayu... lol
@@GoatDuels the way you described vayu turbo sounds really similar to chaos turbo in goat format
Never could get into Edison all too much. Now if Tengu Plant format pops off? Hell yeah, I'll break out some Gravekeepers.
Yeah, Tengu Plant format is underrated for sure.
honestly, i went to edison because goat often feels solved, and edision seems unsolved AND has like 10 good decks, while goat has like 5 good decks and 3 of them are chaos variants

Wait, you're playing cyber valley and Quickdraw with a bunch of level 1's and 2's, but no Road Warrior? 😮
Vayu Turbo is definitely overrated.
I said mb sorry and they said np and we continued our match
But maybe thats because i play unranked
That's a really weird thing to say bro lol
idk if there's any fighting game players here but goat format = sf2 hyper fighting and edison = super turbo

I’m primarily a goat player but Edison is very fun. I get bored of playing the same decks all the time
The fact that you think Edison is an equivalent of modern Yugioh just shows your lack of knowledge of both Edison and current Yugioh.
Modern Yu-Gi-Oh is all about big, consistent combos turn 1, something that does not exist in Edison.@@guilhermeandradedaveiga5605
edison format is't even the same as DUEA era, let alone the modern era with snake eye.
Auto liked great idea

I don't think it makes sense to main or side. All of the backrows that you're most scared of are ones that stop you from going Substitoad into Unifrog (like Royal Oppression). It really only has a couple of niche applications like killing Future Fusion, forcing your opponent to use up their set Mirror Force, or naturally drawing it to kill Oppression while you have Treeborn. Lyla/Caius seem like a better way to do the same job unless Rivalry of Warlords starts becoming popular (and even then, there's still Mobius)
@@GoatDuels I've found it helps the grind game and gets you more advantage off sub

Goat format ladder toxicity is fun. To each his own.

Edison has brain-con, Dupe Lock starts,DAD,Hamster+Caius starts and Future Fusion;Tengu Plant has BLS,Dark Hole and Royal Tribute + Necrovalley and Dragon Turbo;Vegas has armor+geargiagear start;HAT has hands and soul charge.

While I personally think Edison is THE modern yugioh (cause that was around when I played), for most people it might be old school. So i think be careful with the term "modern" as no retro format wants to be compared with current format.
Otherwise good video, mainly as intro to edison. I just wish u said good thing about Edison other than " its not shit like goat". Cause I've never tried Edison again but that frogs plays look helllla fun
This video and commentary shows well why i started to dislike the game :) . We play goat IRL with couple of ppl but some people are hmm let's start playing edison aswell. First i checked well i don't have cards for edison (no synchros etc).
But just watching the replays and HELL NO. I'm fine with GOAT :D
