Back from 2014-2017 , PS3 where I live was being sold cheap in flea markets and GameStop. A few games I passed on I regretted not getting then and had to pay a bigger price years later. But yeah I’m at 500+ PS3 games and I need to check my value at some point.
My collection is averaging £2223. For 2 60GB systems and 77 games. I have an official Dualshock charger in box which sells for quite a bit these days, an eyetoy and 4 extra controllers. One of my 60GB PS3's is the USA model which seems to cost more than double the PAL version just for the reason that its a Mk1 machine. The PAL version was already on MK2 when it launched. There are quite a few really nice limited editions on the PS3 which I have many. Much of which are not shown in many collections.
That’s incredible! Didn’t know the ntsc ps3 was a lot more money really that’s good to know! I’ve been intrigued by a couple special editions but it’s just having space for them.
@lawnasRetro some of mine are same size as the normal edition. There are 2 ratchet specials, dead space 2 limited, there is one for dantes inferno etc.
As a business, CEX obviously need to make money from any purchase/exchange. 35-40% cash value seems pretty fair considering there's no guarantee when they'll see any return on their investment. If you sold them all on ebay, taking into account fees/postage etc... the CEX cash value would be more like 50-60% of what you would receive at the end of it all
Yeah it’s true I think if you’re looking for no hassle of course you have to accept that you’ll get less in return which is understandable. But good point though, appreciate you watching!
I did this exact same process the other week. Now for context, I invested in ps3 approx 8 years ago, so value wise they were pretty low across the board. I did exactly what you've done but in a reversal process. I went onto CEX, put ps3 games as my search criteria, then sorted from high to low, and visually created a list of the first 500 vanilla games that I knew I have in my collection, and then added any collectors editions (steelbook editions excluded unless specific to a collectors edtion - example Tekken Tag Tournament: We Are Tekken Edition). After correction (ie some missing titles I had 496 listed, so for the first 496 games..here are my totals. To purchase instore (before any postage) which would be impossible..but hey ho. It would cost a buyer today £11,856.00. Trade price for me to voucher up was £7,779.00 and to sell for cash £5,390.00. The lowest value game on the list was Tekken 6 (vanilla) at £6 and the highest value item was COD Black Ops 2 Care Package (with the drone) at £135 as of October 2024. I will not be selling anything, and I will come back to this list in 6 months and revalue to see the price difference. For sure..never sell to cex ever, but as a valuation tool. It's pretty good.
@@superdazdj that’s absolutely insane £12k is nuts would love to see the whole collection I bet that’s amazing! But it’s nice like you said to go back and see the ups n downs from it and what has changed etc. thanks for watching!
Lawnas do you have an app for tracking your games? There are a couple you can put CEX value in manually or they use price charting and you can add your purchase price and you can revisit it whenever you fancy.
@@GameStashAdventures only app I’ve sorta semi used would be game eye but that’s to only track what I have rather than value wise as I think it can be quite inflated other than that no not really done much
@lawnasRetro So gameye is decent, i still feel it's an app very early in its development still and will only become better with time. I would recommend CLZ games, I pay just under £2 a month and it's really great to have. I used CLZ for the whole collection and I use Gameye for Japanese PS3 games.
Honestly don't understand why anyone would sell to CEX or any pawn shop.. legal daylight robbery in my humble opinion. I'd just get myself online and seel them at my own price (after researching) Anyway.. new sub.
Would agree on the most part but you also get incentives such as they take everything all at once so no hassle I guess. But I wouldn’t sell my whole collection to them definitely not. Smaller things maybe. Welcome my friend! Thanks for watching!
Oh man. Please don't do these videos. Cex valuations on your collection videos aren't a flex, if anything they just highlight how truly scummy cex really are. Here's 60p now we sell for £60.
@@AnotherNormalYorkshireman I do get that, it was never supposed to be a flex as said in the video was more of a baseline and intrigue for me personally. I will agree the discrepancies between sale price, voucher and cash back price is rather high and has opened my eyes a little more. Appreciate the feedback as always.
@lawnasRetro I just take issue with cex as a whole to be honest. The way they destroyed the independent scene really wound me up. I've never bought from them personally and after seeing the massive variations you highlighted, that won't change anytime soon.
Nice video man. This was interesting.
Thanks man appreciate the watch!
