Y’all I apologize for thinking some of these tracks she’s singing about men! I just had brain fart moments. After researching how much of an icon she’s become for the community already it had me respecting her music even more. Anyway 10/10 album and thanks for watching!
Honestly, even if a few of the women-loving-women moments went over your head, your commentary was still giving all kinds of green flags 💚💚💚 we love a man who appreciates Chappell in all her freak-flag-flying glory.
One of the gorgeous things about this album is many of the songs she wrote were originally about men and she explored her sexuality, shifted, changed perspective and now a lot of those songs are now about women. It's so honest. It reminds me of Joni Mitchell's lyric "I've looked at love from both sides now, from give and take and still somehow, It's love's illusions that I recall, I really don't know love at all."
There’s no need to apologize! chappell is for everyone and it’s ok when art is relatable for people in different ways. Still appreciate you doing some research on her story! she is a huge advocate for queer rights

It may be hard to imagine, but she's arguably even better live. Between her singing and the iconic outfits she wears at festivals it's a must-see experience. If you have Hulu they should be streaming her at Lollapalooza next weekend.
My jaw dropped when he said it was about a guy 😭😭 I am begging for straight people to remember that we exist, especially when the reminder is literally playing in their headphones as they speak
@@pinsandneedles3 yeah, the problem is that straight is like a social default. Which is why I really love Chappell's music videos for so many of these songs. No room for mistakes, she shows you what she means 😂
Chappell has such diversity in her voice and in her tone. Her music is just so fun, descriptive, and campy while being both retro and fresh at the same time. Genuinely became one of my favorite artists over the course of just a few months of having discovered her A few of my notable favorites are Red Wine Supernova, Casual, My Kink is Karma, Picture You, and Pink Pony Club (most of which have music videos that I also think you should check out, whether for the channel or just for your own entertainment)
I highly recommend Remi Wolf, her tiny desk and album that came out this year - Big Ideas. It's like if punk garage band Amy Winehouse was crossed with dance pop, disco, funk, ska and surprise reggae. And Remi is similar as a vocalist to Chappell stylistically, but Remi sings in a lower register naturally. Plus her tiny desk is super fun and she does a couple of songs from Big Ideas.
@@ChappellsDaughter Honestly, same lmao. I just wish more reactors would do full song reactions though :( some do on Patreon but I still wish lol. I know that would mean 100% demonetization but still...
the 80s comparison isnt far fetched! a lot of people have actually been calling her a modern Kate Bush, and you can definitely hear it on songs like Good Luck Babe! and HOT TO GO! Super Ultra Graphic Modern Girl is also heavy Madonna vibes
I was at the drive-through getting food and I low-key forgot that I was watching a reaction video and I thought I just had the music and I was just jamming to the outro of casual and background like what the fuck great reaction by the way
Ooof, when Chappell and her crazy talented back up singer start going back and forth at the end of Red Wine Supernova on the Tiny Desk Concert performance it's just full body chills for me 😍😍😍
HER LIVE PERFORMANCES ARE EVEN BETTER THAN STUDIO!! please react to her bc her live vocals are ON TOP. and if you watch her music videos you can see the song meaning clearer
Bonus points for guessing the pronunciation correctly. Her songwriting is pretty clever, so don't apologize for thinking it's about men. A few tracks actually are, at least in a past tense where she's referring to older relationships. A few tracks are deliberately ambiguous. A bunch have coded references about Lesbianism but aren't overt. A few others ARE overt, like saying "she" when talking about her lover. Okay, maybe an apology for Red Wine Supernova IS a good idea. Chappell says "She" over and over in that one. 😄 The important thing is while she's writing about being a lesbian... about DISCOVERING she's one while writing this album (she hadn't known previously, just fantasized) ... she's pretty deliberately writing this music as (at least outwardly) accessible to all listeners. If lesbians get more out of it? It's still great music regardless. Men are the heels in a few songs, but it's all in good fun, not angry.
I mean her and Renee Rapp both came out as lesbian in the time frame, Renee’s early stuff was men but her last album biconic album btw, she didn’t come out as a lesbian until last year. The queer icons are iconing
I am so confused on how you listened to Good Luck Babe first, then Feminominom, and then still thought Red Wine Supernova was about getting freaky with a guy??? Chill out on the Coke, dude!

I openly WEPT through her Lolla set because omgggggg she iconic and I love her.
There’s no way to feel down or sad while listening this album. Well actually you can feel sad and great again it’s a roller coaster 🎢 🕺🏻
I can't make it through "Kaleidoscope" without crying but that's followed by "Pink Pony Club" so... all better
There's something so special about her that no one else in the music industry has rn
The straight lens can be so strong at times, can’t it? 😅 Red Wine Supernova is about a woman. 😉
Yeah... She's literally singing "she" was a playboy 😂

She has the same producer as Olivia Rodrigo and Conan Gray. Dan Nigro

Everyone mispronounces her name at first:
Chappell - Rhymes with "Apple"
Roan - One syllable, rhymes with "Phone"

Just a note Chappell is a lesbian and Red Wine Supernova is about infatuation with a girl.
My opinion- Best debut album by a female artist since Madonna's debut...
