She's so real- unhinged, emotional, authentic, there for the high highs and low lows of relationships. Every song, manic positive or depressive negative i was like: wow- too real. 😂😭
Me too like bro this album is a masterpiece work of art and Chappell roan voice so strong and beautiful best songs for me pink pony club/ kaleidoscope/ casual/ my kink is karma/ naked in Manhattan/ femininomenon i love her 💗
my favorite part about my kink is karma is how the closer it gets to the chorus the more she sounds like she's hitting a... climax as she gets to the "but my kink is watching YOU" and you is finally when she hits the peak and it's so fun and cool and wowowowow
her name is chappell after her late grandpa’s last name and roan after his favorite western movie “the strawberry roan” ! she’s from southwest missouri. she wrote california after she was dropped from a record label a few years ago. she said kaleidoscope is about falling in love with her best friend. also I’m so glad you loved it! pink pony club for sure put her on the map when she released it a few years ago. I’m from the same area as her and I was able to go to her opening night of tour last week in her hometown and she gave some explanations for some of the songs. she’s so cool! I love her stuff and I’m excited for more.
wheb you say "movie" i think you meant to say song. Strawberry Roan was his favorite song. also, the label dropped her after Pink Pony Club was released because it didn't do well enough in their eyes. most likely because it was the pandemic.
The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess gives me the same queer joy Born this Way gave me when that album dropped in 2011. Chappell is the best, this is album of the year for me! Thanks for reacting :)
THIS... and SAWAYAMA for me. Srly, Rina's album is a perfect match do Rise and Fall and BTW because of how bold sonically and lyrically they are for pop standards. Also, they all start it out with such bangers (Femininomenon, Marry the Night, Dynasty) that encapsulates the rollercoaster that is about to come (and in the case of SAWAYAMA and BTW also my favorite track from each)
the first song i heard from her was "kaleidoscope". the metaphor of a relationship changing shape (friends-lovers-friends) but also colors (queer) is one of the most genius things ever. "all the colors of the rainbow / don't be afraid to hold it close" is one of the most heartbreaking and romantic and beautiful lines I've heard, like, "do it even though it might not work out in the end." that with the lush strings and the gorgeous vocal performance and UGHHHH it's kind of perfect honestly. and then I heard the other singles and was completely taken by surprise at the sheer campiness and almost goofy energy. took some adjusting for sure lol, her range + versatility is off the charts
Omg I just saw her opening for Olivia’s concert and she played some of her album songs and let me just say, her STAGE PRESENCE! I knew nothing of her before Olivia’s concert and best believe I QUICKLY searched her up and became obsessed! Now I’m here and I’m so glad you enjoy it as much as I do!
To me, this is what pop should be 🤷♀️ if it were more like this, I would actually like it more. It is eccentric but isn't that what pop is about? She's reviving the genre, in my opinion, and I'm absolutely here for it 🙌🏼💖🔥
as a longtime fan of chappell (thank u for answering my request!!!) seeing you experience her artistry for the first time was just magical. i love that you commented on her uniqueness, she's truly one of a kind
I've not gone through all the comments, but I also just need to say that Daniel Nigro produced "Pink Pony Club" a year before Olivia broke out. I do not want to compare the girls at all, but it SHOULD be said that Chappell's song came first based only on the "This sounds like Olivia" moments in this video.
@@bennshouts Late to this video and your joy while unraveling each song was infectious. Re: PPC - I remember in an interview Chappell was pretty crushed that the PPC rollout ended up coinciding right with the dawn of the pandemic (April 2020). She'd written it as a "gay club anthem" for us to *DANCE* to and then all of the gay clubs closed down. She was scared it would just get buried and I'm happy it's now getting the kind of play it deserves!
Also Chappell Roan did record backing vocals for a couple of Olivia's songs when she was touring and couldn't get to the studio, so that might be another reason why people hear Olivia Rodrigo in her music.
its always so fun to see how different straight vs gay ppl react to red wine supernova nog that straight ppl don’t like it but queer women liveeeee for it
@@priiifrgI’ve specifically sought out men to react to this to see how many get it. just gave this album a listen yesterday one of the most impressive debuts in a long time her music makes me so happy and it’s so fresh and unique will be on repeat for the next year lol red wine supernova and my kink is karma are definitely on my top and Chappell is on the radar of becoming one of my top 5 artists :) truly such a iconic one for the girls and the gays

I never heard of her before but we went to a concert and the support act was a lady whit guitar who covered casual. I loved that song so I looked up Roan on Spotify and TH-cam. Love it!
i’ve loved chappell for a hot minute and she’s so underrated. this album is perfect and so fun but i cannot get over her turning down and editing the beat in my kink is karma.. that was my fav chappell song and beat and it was ROBBED. but other than that she devoured.

The most underrated artist on my radar right now. WHY she hasn’t blown up yet, I have no idea. So many pop gems on this.
LITERALLY! She deserves it all!
I agree! Although I think she’s gonna blow up quickly… a lot of her shows sold out and her vinyls are almost sold out too!
Banger after banger
I wonder if she'll get more popular once Olivia Rodrigo goes on tour since she's opening for her
@@TaylorsVersio13Is she really? Thats great for her! She's so good, more people just need to hear her.
her being such an out and proud queer woman and making music that is different and weird is apart of why i love her so much
