Lyrics:
I am changing, trying every way I can
I am changing, I'll be better than I am
I'm trying to find a way to understand
But I need you, I need you
I need a hand
I am changing, seeing everything so clear
I am changing, I am going to start right now, right here
I am hoping to work it out, and I know that I can
But I need you, I need a hand

Goodness, this woman was the best vocalist of all time. God personally kissed that voice...
Nicole Stewart Nicole, I'm so glad that I was brought to the planet the same time Whitney graced it! If I had to explain to someone about this voice, they wouldn't believe me.
Yasss then Cissy added à grand of salt to it. 😍😍😍😍
100% agree with that!
Mariah. enough said
I Just Wish The Band Had Been Better.
I Would Have Been Happier If She Sang With No Music.
Rest In Heaven, Nippy.❤😭❤😭❤😭❤😭❤😭
I MISS YOU SOOOO MUCH.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the best vocalist of all times Whitney Houston
I accept this gift from the universe
Mikey Oto yes lord
Yes, we ALL do and will do foreva!
God*
The gift came from God who also created the universe! Jehovah God is infinitely powerful and wonderful and good to us all...Please don't forget him. He has feelings that can be hurt but there is NO weakness found in Him!
@joel prince Gotta represent Joel. I don't like it when people forget. I know it hurts Him but I need to make it known that there is neither flaw nor weakness to be found in Jehovah and to use his name because he has one. Everyone does.
In my opinion, Whitney's chest voice was like a clear lake with no ripples. Just perfect. And her falsetto or head voice, you better back the hell up. No one, not even Aretha or her mama, can match the control Whitney had over her falsetto. The woman is the Voice - this was a clip of the young voice knocking on the door to let you know she's coming.
I can’t think of a soul, dead or alive that was even half as good as Whitney. I too, concur. This woman was simply untouchable!
the amount of chest she pulls up to belt is insanely impressive
For real! No one can match this woman
Yes 🙌 yes she like a 🧜♀️ mermaid-
Amen!
She was the Voice, but that smile Whitney gave so often is heavenly!
If I had ever met her in person and she smiled at me I think I woulda cried and be stuck right where I stood. Fa real tho.
Beautiful voice and smile indeed :)
She's the best singer of sll time no questions asked
That voice is an instrument all on its own.
candid0111 they said her voice was a Stradivarius violin amongst regular fiddles, banjoes & hambones!
@@AnnaMaeBullock that's true
Anyone who doesn't think Whitney is the best, wasn't there for the ride. I fell in love with her voice in 85..... Damn, i miss her
THIS Arista performance may be the most KNOWN version of this song Whitney has done but I urge you to check out the link below. She did this 10 minute concert version about 2 years after the Arista version and it is vastly superior in terms of intensity, power and velocity. It is easily the greatest (and most exhausting) live vocal performance of her entire career; and quite possibly the greatest live vocal performance of all time, from any singer! It is AMAZING.
th-cam.com/video/FvWdnimqgeA/w-d-xo.html
Yes, 1985, I remember sitting in the living room watching the "You Give Good Love Video" in absolute amazement...
Of all singers, Whitney Houston had the widest vocal range, tone, pitch and vocal gymnastics. Even her belting was not constricted and similar to her natural voice....full of emotions.
All of these things are 100% true, but people really SLEEP on how BRILLIANT her TONE was. Going from Head Throat, to Chest and holding it STEADY..
UNMATCHED!!
Whitney was a vocalists in the same light as Donna Summer the only difference was that Whitney made great use of melisma.
I'll disagree on the vocal range and pitch, but what made Whitney THE Voice was the way she connected with the lyrics and could emote like no other singer could. There will never be a singer who had a voice as rich, smooth and expressive like Whitney.
Patently false. Mariah carey is the single greatest singer we have very had by every single technical metric. Her range on both the low and high ends are greater than whitney. She was more capable wirh melisma (agility). Her tone was better. She had an actual vibrato unlike whitney gospel jaw houston. The list goes on. The delusion kf whitney fans is unparalleled. She was great. Not the best. Frankly celine is better too.
@@joeg6114Mariah and Whitney were friends. The ultras can learn a lesson from this here. 😀😀
No reverbs, no effects, no echoes, just pure raw voice -- The Whitney Houston.
This is so under appreciated👏🏾- the fact that this performance audio is a flat recording without things like reverb added to it is a testament to how freaking brilliant this performance is. You don't even realize those things are gone when Whitney sings
She’s definitely THE VOICE!! What a gift.
I've never seen a singer as talented as Whitney Houston. I don't see talent like that anymore and please don't talk about Screamifer Hudson. Rest in Peace Dear Whitney. You are deeply missed 😢.
Amen.
Screamifer made me 🤣🤣 so freaking hard!!!! Jennifer can sing though but I can understand why you called her that.
Not a screamer a SANGER!😘
Don’t knock Jennifer’s version, it was great also, cannot be discounted. They both are unique and in their own league!
@@TheRetroWoman80 My friend calls her Yellifer... Who's the winner ? Screamifer or Yellifer ?
For the other comments, I'm not saying she isn't a good singer, I believe she could improve her singing, instead of screaming or yelling...
this song motivates me to change myself to be better, and I will make it happen.
The last time I listened to this song, I was completely broken in every way possible. This song was just a glimpse of God's power that would soon shine into my life and place me on a much better path. As I sit here listening to this, far away from those dark days, I'm greatful. I'm greatful to even type this comment. Jesus is too good.
Yes he is 🥰

ABSOLUTE WITNESS!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Jesus is GOOD all the time❤❤❤
That was her performing before she became the iconic "WHITNEY HOUSTON" and she already slayed that performance. That was iconic in itself
If there was a Time when the R&B girls knew that someone was COMING for THEIR spot…THIS WOULD BE IT!!! 👌🏾
Whitney sang "I Am Changing" in her setlist on every single date during her 1986 'The Greatest Love' World Tour ❤
she just snatched my soul right out me!!!! SANG IT NIPPY!!!!!!!! i miss the 80s
Her voice here was outstandingly beautiful and resonant.
Ignasi Martí Palet
Everything ist resonance - whitneys special resonance comes from singing insanely loud ;)
Raffael W. No her singing is actually resonant. She doesn’t need to shout because she is a spinto and exudes natural powerful belts! Don’t come for her resonance and support if you don’t know shit!
@@Insert639 She has certain qualities of her mother's voice, but they do not sound the same lol
@@skip031890 I hear some Aretha too but Whithney's voice is more delicate
@4:07 She sounds like Cissy.
Her range was ridiculously high in the 80s! This whole song was sung in the 5th and 6th octave!
Yeah she was using a lighter mix to get to higher range. I think her lifestyle made her lose that range in the 90s and also in the 90s she sang with more power which could have also affected her range but her tone made her voice stand out regardless of loss of the range.
@@somebodyouloveLol what mix???? her voice was extremely highhh in the 80s
@@diorrboyyyy yeah so there are different registers to singing. Singing in the mix register makes it easier for singers to access higher notes. Whitney used a more chestier approach to mixing in her later years. In her earlier years it was more balanced(between head and chest)/heady approach. So the approach she used in accessing higher registers in the 80s was lighter than the 90s. The 90s mix had a more darker quality to it. Hope this is clearer to you. Her voice wasn’t a light voice. She just used a lighter mix in the 80s in comparison to the 90s.
@@somebodyoulove Whitneys voice was light lol…. it only sounded darker before childbirth because she was using a tongue retraction technique…. and no she wasn’t mixing her chest voice💀 her chest goes up to g#5…. where are u getting your info from….
@@somebodyoulove80s female music aesthetic had a younger/girlier sound than the 90s
The best female voice to ever to sing a song

She Was A Gift Music For Us From God Classy Beautiful R.I.P. Whitney Love You Forever
when she goes from that roar to that whisper at 2:33 it just gives me chills 🥲
There is a reason she is called THE VOICE !
2:36 her control and conveying contrast was amazing especially when she sings "now I can see" from a rough to soft transition, so smooth and beatiful!
That made the hairs on my arm stand! #amazing
Thank You Jesus For Giving US This Gift Named Whitney Houston Gone But Never Forgotten 🙏♥️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Her voice is completely complex… and the emotional dynamics she experienced clearly had much influence…. ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹

She's beautiful in every way. Such power from such a frail girl...incredible !

She could slay in any setting, small medium or large!
This is before she became famous; the voice making it's run.
LOVE THIS! Whitney was way ahead of her time. Can you imagine if she was this age around now and this video came out? Social media would dragggggg those critics and never let them out again!!!!
OMG, the vocal dynamics and transitions. I wish I had her voice....
We all tho🤩
I don't think you would want it. It's too powerful. You wouldn't be able to handle it. It would be like putting a 2 year old in the seat of a race car
I would never shut up lol
In terms of technique, she sounds like her mother in this video. Even her vocal resonance, just like Cissy. Thank you Cissy for allowing Whitney to spread love all over the world.
I can't stand people disrespect Whitney Houston and bring other female artist in this video this video not about Beyonce or Mariah Carey or Jennifer Hudson its about Whitney Houston people make me sick why judge Whitney Houston she was not the only person in the music industry was using drugs so why do people come on this video talk bs this women is singing heart out no audio tunes no lip syncing and no background singers &shake grinding on stage it just Whitney sunnnng
And she accomplished SO much despite of that! She was a gift on this earth! There's never been anyone like her and many things she's done are in the record books! Whitney will remain of this earth! That's what really bothers SOME people. Those miserable souls don't have a prayer.
Me. I am WhitneyHouston Eternal love fan♥ and? All of the women mentioned lip synched and use background singers, but if you think that diminishes their talent that's completely wrong, just like how a comparison to them wouldn't diminish theirs or Whitney's talent. This was far from Whitney's best performance, probably her "worst" good performance, and no comparison will change the fact
PREACH 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yep!
Yes Whitney is flawless Her voice touches mine soul❤️
I can only imagine if I were in the audience, I would be stunned by her voice & be thankful that I've just witnessed one of the greatest vocalist in the world, ever.....
Ikr. I'd be drowning in happy tears from all that lovely art offering in my emotional space.
The riff in 1:06 is to be worshipped 😭😭‼️
Such a performer, simply one of the best.
The best not one of the best
Beautiful voice, beautiful face, beautiful soul! RIP Whitney
She is just astonishing here.
cindy Queen , If you think this is astonishing, check out her 1986 performance. She mastered it. 😊
Whitney is / was a beast
Lord she sound just like Momma Cissy here. She betta SANG it like Momma trained her!!!!! Them ladies CAN SANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The anointing on her Voice she felt that Holy Spirit every time she opened her back then.
2:38 That Riff is so amazingly good. It’s HEAVEN
Like, I kept replaying that part 🤯
I think that's one the best she gave. Despite the low recording quality for the image, this moment was magical and this vid remains one of my favorites from WH.
Yes, GOD 🙌🏽
Whitney Houston is the real deal. She truly sing from her heart and soul.
Singing was just like breathing for her.. There is just no words.. 👏🏾
I gave my life
Rest In Peace Whitney Houston. Beautiful Woman, Beautiful Music, Beautiful Voice.
I forgot how beautiful her voice was. This makes her end even sadder.
I LOVE WHITNEY, but nobody can sing this LIKE Jennifer holiday @ RIP nippy FOREVER in OUR hearts
Dear God That woman could sing assembly instructions and make it a hit!
The majestic miss whitney Houston, flawless like a perfect diamond
2024 , my first time seeing this video it's an amazing rendition .
Just a baby. A gifted child. Rest In Peace. I miss you. I met you in Boston. You smiled at me. … how lucky am I.
The Queen !
I love seeing this stripped down, raw version of Whitney. She is rocking her real hair and it is more beautiful than any of the wigs or extensions she would wear. I wish we could have seen more of her like this. I love this video.
What Whitney did at 2:38 is signature Whitney style. That transition was beautiful.
She has a really big diamond with no lapidation ams influence for all this things that destroy all our big artists!
It's eerie. It's like she's singing to her future self. The lyrics are so haunting. She DID try her best though, right towards the end. She DID try to change and start again on the bright path. Please don't forget that. RIP mama. RIP Bobbi Kristina. They are rejoined now.
I would also like to add that this was an Arista Records 10th Anniversay affair, this was live, not recorded in a studio with re takes, stacks and backgrounds layered. Live music is not perfect, but her Power is unmatched! Only haters thumbed this down.
TheMusicalEmpress: Yes, yes & yes. The folks who gave this a thumbs down, need to have their ears flushed out!
R.I.H a true talent 💯truly missed and will never be replaced.
My goodness 😢wtf she’s too good 😌 ❤
Best Treasured Chest Voice!!!!!
1:06 I was done. this woman is and will forever be the voice.
This is a sign if a passionate singer. As she always said that she sang from the heart so that she can inspire others. What I always admire about Whitney is that she was able to enunciate the lyrics of songs and that touches the heart of everyone.
She was always flashy, but the attraction was to her incredible ability to sing strong and loud and soulful
High energy 😍💜

For all those speaking badly about Whitney, she has won over 600 awards, she was a legend, and people when you win an emmy for you're grammy performance you know your badass. She was also the most sought after model all around the world. Best known for her lovely looks & heavenly voice. Haters can hush.
You can have all those awards and still have a bad performance. She's human and this performance was not the best.
@@imaniaigheyisi7426 how?
seoi v. Voices aren’t always 100%. They get affected by sickness, exhaustion, air quality, humidity, the food you ate, etc. You may not have as much control over your voice as you usually do one day. You may be straining too much that day vs other days. Having a ton of awards means you’re talented and people like you, it doesn’t mean that you’ve never had and never will have a bad performance.
@@imaniaigheyisi7426 ah, makes sense.
