It's fun. Definitely say a few more cards in this video that I'll needs to add. Your golden pig is a great card I didn't know existed. Lol. Thanks for the video!!
I also have a sliverless deck. Commander is Sliver Overlord. A 5 color deck that mostly uses Blue and Red cards. It has spells that copies and counters. Shapeshifters: Clones and changelings. Some mana dorks. Enchantments that clone and copies spells. Artifacts: Mana Rocks. Lands: Dual and multi color type lands (ex. C.O.B.)
@@Disturbedelv121 right but only a limited number of cards do that and its obviously better to have a card like standardize where you can pay 2 mana then steal a bunch over paying like 3 mana to get back a changeling card from your discard then pay more mana to recast it. You don't need to tutor every single thing out of a commander deck for it to work. You can also just draw things you need.
I will give this deck a try. It's sounds so janky and hilarious and on the same time absolutely evil. And I think my playgroup will like the fact that they don't die to my Torbran deck (the damage output is ridiculous, 20+ damage per turn to each opponent is quite normal).
I just met a player two days ago who played Slivdrazis and it was so fascinating to watch work. I've never hated Slivers myself, they made me a friend in a player who got a ton of hate for being a Sliver main and I'm thinking of ways to build a less brutal Sliver deck for some casual groups; but seeing a deck titled "Slivdrazis" 90% of the time put Eldrazis down and only play Slivers with beneficial effects FOR said Eldrazi, was an absolute blast.
"Yeah guys, this deck is brutal so bring a higher tier" *players reveal 3 control decks* "This deck is no longer brutal" I've strayed away from opponent depending decks lately because a lot of the times it doesn't work out but if your playgroup is small and creature / non board wipe heavy then this is a fun deck indeed.
It definitely becomes a lot less brutal but you can still frustrate people by stealing away their commanders and utility creatures, which they can absolutely not get back unless they run Homeward Path. You'll have a lot of trouble actually winning, though.
this could also be a tribal tribal deck, you can tutor for mirror entity and there are plenty of good lords with activated abilities. Maskwood nexus has an activated ability so it can also go in.
I have a sliver overlord deck based on your idea for a lord tribal deck actually. A lot of the same tribal instants are in my deck though so I can steal threats away, so I've leaned into both abilities, but the primary thing is lord tribal. I have about 10 ways though to change my opponents creature types
a fun potential addition (though more than $1) is Lin Sivvi, who can put your changeling cards from your graveyard into your deck. With Sliver overlord, Lin Sivvi and Zirda out, you get a repeatable 2-mana instant-speed regrowth.
2 words you need to learn.... "Reito Lantern" that would fit really good here, you can put the white spell on the bottom and fish it out, Reito Normally takes 3 to activate but can be 1 in this deck. The price seems to be around $0.10 so it meets the cost prohibition. It's also a reusable card that places cards back into the deck.
One card that would go great in this deck that was printed after this episode is a card from Kamigawa. Shigeki, Jukai Visionary. One it does not break the Zirda restriction since has activated ability. Two it doesn't exile itself when getting multiple cards from your graveyard. So you can get back multiple card at instant speed and it's channel effect I'm pretty sure is also reduced from Zirda. So would only take 2 colorless and 2 green to get back 2 cards from your graveyard. What this allows you to do is then is create an infinite recursion loop making this deck even more toxic. Channel Shigeki, get back Shield, and regrowth. Then use Regrowth or another graveyard recursion spell and get back Shigeki. Rinse and repeat till the table throws you out.
Run this in my tribal tribal deck inspired by Tomer. Only pulled it off one time because I use The Ur-Dragon as my commander. Was a fun time for me and me only haha
I love decks like this. My playstyle is very off the wall and wacky; I'm known in my circle for playing weird things like Timin/Rhoda creature tap stax, Krenko goblin aristocrats, and this is the perfect new deck for my lineup.
Hello Mitch, I tested it, it's not bad at all, actually is very interesting mechanic BUT I believe it needs something I can't identify in order to make it even faster because if people know what your deck does... they focus you, and because there are not many creatures in your deck for 5-6 turns you are completely without any ways to survive..There are plays that even with 1 LP you could capitalize but it's not occasionally. On the other hand if they will not focus or play in a way to kill you, they are doomed... This is the problem, they play against you like they know what will happen since turn 2 or they leave you be and they lose most of the ways to go against you late game.. You are out since 7 turn or you win most of the times.. and because this is kind of absolute it's like they will do you the favor to win or kill you fast. For this reason isn't brutal in the level to not use it, but at the same time is brutal for you to take so much focus from the start of the game.. So i don't find it brutal for others but for you. Maybe in a less budget way could play faster and also with more creatures.. Don't take me wrong, the reasons I write this comment is because I loved so much this mechanic and i try to fix it in the level it is as brutal as you put it on your video.
You want enter the infinite, manabond, solve the equation, maskwood nexus and elixir of immortality. All these are well under $10, and cheap to play for the most part. Enter the infinite allows you to pick up your whole library and put one from your hand back on top of the library but cost 12 mana to play. Manabond is a single green, and allows you to play all the lands in your hand, maskwood nexus makes every card you control a sliver and every card in your deck as well. Elixir allows you to shuffle your grave into your deck, and solve the equation allows you to search for a sorcery or instant. For as fast as this deck can ramp, you want to find solve the equation, or enter the infinite, pick up your whole deck. On your next turn play elixir, and manabond. After discarding everything tap the elixir to get it back in to the library. You now have all the mana, 5 additional hp, and if you have maskwood nexus in play, every creature you take is a sliver and they share abilities. If you get promise of tomorrow out as they die they go to your exile pile not their owners, and once you have no creatures sacrifice promise of tomorrow and bring all of them back to your field as slivers that share abilities.
Not a commander expert by any means but I think the issue is mainly that while the trick it does is great it doesn't need to focus every single card on that trick. That and it being a very low budget deck. I think just building a very powerful sliver commander deck as either a sliver deck or 5c goodstuff then saving 2-6 slots for the all changeling card + the companion plus some tutoring effects if you don't already run them would be better than only relying on trying to do this over and over.
I love this deck. This is why I’m subbed to you. No one does janky/obscure things like this the way you do! Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!
I had this without cycling. Much better draw aspect. I tossed in an Isochron Scepter for added shenanigans. Unnatural Selection and Evolution too. Might be expensive now.
if you have tutors for plains, for example fetchlands, then a good budget option is mistviel plains. because all cards can be tutored out so easily, and zirda and overlord are both white permanents, it allows you to recycle the changeling cards every turn.
As the Golden Pig Award I would suggest : Unnatural Selection. It do not target every single creature for 1 mana, BUT, its a repeatable effect. So between this and the commander+Zirda, its pretty much a "Pay 2 generic, steal any creature" until someone remove a piece.
Maskwood nexus in this deck would be good as well because it gives all creatures in your deck and hand all creature types as well as the ones on your board. I use it for a swarming skeletons standard deck. On that note meathook massacre is kind of OP in that deck, I get a board wipe for as little as two mana and I keep getting creatures
Mitch, I've been hurting to play sliver overlord but couldn't afford the full tribal deck. This is sheer brilliance. Can't wait to dig through my bulk cards and do awful things. >:]
I don't think enter the battlefield counts as activated abilities. If i remember correctly it is considered a triggered ability, and if i am correct Zirda goes into the 99 Sadge
Seeing changeling being used as a core part of this deck reminds me of my goofy changeling tribal deck with Reaper King as the commander. It's not even remotely competitive, but there's something fucking hilarious about a deck with Utvara Dragon, The First Sliver, Leaf-Crowned Elder, Conspiracy, Descendant's Path, and a bunch of other goofy tribal stuff and just haphazardly glues them together with changelings, particularly Mirror Entity. It's silly, and loses most of the time, but god is it fun when the stars align. Elf tokens attacking and summoning dragons, Kindred abilities going off 100% of the time, and, if you have The First Sliver and Conspiracy down, every. single. creature. cascading
i know it technically breaks the less than $1 rule but you can get a basalt monolith for $2 and it generates infinite colorless mana with zirda allowing you to tutor for every changeling in the deck that you want and stealing every creature on the board.
I actually put a few of these into my sliver deck so that I could steal creatures as a side benefit. A cheap upgrade for your deck would be conspiracy, that way you can search for your non sliver creatures.
That unfortunately wouldn't work with the companion condition of Zirda, since Conspiracy doesn't have an activated ability. It might still be strong if you added some tutors, then put Zirda and other creatures that reduce ability costs like Biomancer's Familiar in the 99.
Hey Mitch, your deck list at the end has Skullwinder in the deck. Wouldn't this not allow Zirda to be your Companion since Skullwinder is a creature without an activated ability?
This is how my Overlord deck works. Amoeboid Changling, and lots of other cards to change creature types. I will have to make some changes from here, though.
Im one of the 45 on edh rec with a zirda companion sliver overlord deck. Unfortunately I had 3 different deck ideas to actually build out and I didn’t end up going with the Companion build.
Add Quirion Druid and or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa to take opponents lands. Add Karn, the Great Creator targeing opponents artifacts with his +1 and now they're your artifacts
Ashnods alter is a bit expensive but that would be an amazing card for this deck. Steal a creature for 1 mana, get 2 back, sac a creature steal 2 more, and so on
I'd make a single change, and that is to add Shay Cormac from the Assassin's Creed set His activated ability is that all opponents' permanents lose shroud, hexproof, ward, indestructible and protection
Uhh Mitch, how're you doing buddy? Sliverless slivers isn't a cry for help is it? Haha keep being your jank self my good man.

Chuck in March of the machines, and I know it's pricey but, add in fractured identity, so their artifacts are also creatures :D
Would like to see a no budget constraint of this deck :)
As the Golden Pig Award I would suggest
: Unnatural Selection. It do not target every single creature for 1 mana, BUT, its a repeatable effect. So between this and the commander+Zirda, its pretty much a "Pay 2 generic, steal any creature" until someone remove a piece.
No one:
Mitch: *snorts a line* I have no slivers but I also do. Also, you have slivers too.
So the deck does have slivers
@5:07 you missed silver queen. It has an activated ability.
I have been wanting to build a deck like this using overlords second ability forever and just haven’t known where to start! Thx for the help👍🏼
Oh man I love this deck lol xD
Zirda is the really powerhouse the engages the combo though!
Aw I had so many typos, thanks for reading my comment CQ! I’ll try and check this channel more, really great content. :]
I don't understand how a deck can have such concentrated jankiness.
This is what MTG is supposed to look like.
MTG isnt SUPPOSED to look like anything
I don't think enter the battlefield counts as activated abilities. If i remember correctly it is considered a triggered ability, and if i am correct Zirda goes into the 99 Sadge
Activated abilities must be paid for, either thru tapping/untapping or paying mana.
Elf tokens attacking and summoning dragons, Kindred abilities going off 100% of the time, and, if you have The First Sliver and Conspiracy down, every. single. creature. cascading
Mitch. You’re insane. Mad mage Mitch is definitely an earned title.
i know it technically breaks the less than $1 rule but you can get a basalt monolith for $2 and it generates infinite colorless mana with zirda allowing you to tutor for every changeling in the deck that you want and stealing every creature on the board.
I saw this decklist this morning on your website and looking forward to this video
the perfect way to deal with my brother's avacyn deck lol
I can't believe it's not Slivers!
I literally built this deck (with a few more costly upgrades) a few months ago! I love it!
What upgrades?
What kind of upgrades? Im building this deck as well.
@@Jason-fv4rg Good catch, maskwood Nexus is the one you would want for that effect (and really is better anyway)
I played Magic only twice with a starter deck 10 years ago, and I just watched this video.
I knew immediately is was gonna be changelings lol. And they don’t even have to be changelings, with Maskwood Nexus. Very interesting idea!
This deck is amazing for it's price and I love it.
When I built my Sliver deck, Slivers were budget.
Fun idea - I might give it a go and sike out the playgroup.
Hey Mitch, your deck list at the end has Skullwinder in the deck. Wouldn't this not allow Zirda to be your Companion since Skullwinder is a creature without an activated ability?
And here I thought Slivers couldn't get scarier. This is horrifying XD well done!
I tried to build this before but couldn't get it to work... Yet you say this works... I need to revisit it.
Wow this deck is spicy. Well done! Will you do a $50 or $100 upgrade video of this deck?
This is how my Overlord deck works. Amoeboid Changling, and lots of other cards to change creature types. I will have to make some changes from here, though.
Rubinia SoulSinger is a deck that i built that does this. Use new thasa, conjurers closet and deadeye navigator to blink and keep em.
Im one of the 45 on edh rec with a zirda companion sliver overlord deck. Unfortunately I had 3 different deck ideas to actually build out and I didn’t end up going with the Companion build.
I was cakling like a mad man through this whole vid. I love it
One good reason for all of your opponents to have Homeward Path in their deck!
I know the 0 sliver thing is cool, but if you added sliver queen it does have a useful activated ability
My friend: oh you’re just gonna tutor a bunch of slivers and get big.
Me: wellllllll you will see.
I'm new to commander, could I please get some advice? Would Reaper King interact with Maskwood Nexus the way I think it will?
Yes it would
Yeah it would. It makes all of your creatures Scarecrows, so every creature you cast triggers Reaper King's ability.
Reaper King is a great
Add Quirion Druid and or Kamahl, Fist of Krosa to take opponents lands. Add Karn, the Great Creator targeing opponents artifacts with his +1 and now they're your artifacts
Should consider adding “natural affinity” and/or “Sylvan Awakening” for that more of that Na.
*clears throat pedantically*
NaCl
This sounds brutal for sure haha. I love how cheap all these unique decks are! Thanks and appreciate the great ideas!
Shields of Velis Vel is a star player in my Hazezon Tamar. Works as a one-sided boardwipe.
i've just seen the disclaimer, don't know shit about the deck yet, but i'm definitely surprising my friends with it
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼well done sir! I really like this and look forward to making people cry while playing it.
This deck has a weird flavor i kindof dig, like an alien hivemind turning hordes of people into its thrulls
Ashnods alter is a bit expensive but that would be an amazing card for this deck. Steal a creature for 1 mana, get 2 back, sac a creature steal 2 more, and so on
You put the MAN in comMANder!
I'd make a single change, and that is to add Shay Cormac from the Assassin's Creed set
His activated ability is that all opponents' permanents lose shroud, hexproof, ward, indestructible and protection
This is right up my ally. Only thing, my play group favors low cost removal and graveyard removal.. so a lot more protection is needed. lol
Would love to see you test out your decks. Whatever happened to close quarters??
Damn, I was gonna guess that the golden pig of the deck was gonna be Amoeboid Changeling.
