Get the inn keeper at the elven village to like you enough (with flowers or so on as gifts), and she'll hand over the item for your pawn to learn elvish. Took some gift giving, a stay over night, and another gift to trigger it for me. Also, noticed some NPCs will get a bright blush on their face, that gets brighter as they like you more. And lastly, if your pawn or one you recruited, starts to hold their head every so often? Chuck em in a lake. A deep one.
Or instead of yeeting your pawn into the water, just wait for them to jump into the water for no reason, which my main pawn loves to do. Did it in the first 5 minutes of me having him….
@@psivampire13 they just want to take a swim... stupid brine monsters... though... technically you get to fight the brine in the true ending so sorta revenge?
@@ohnstale6545 if you chat with them, there should be an option to give a gift as a button prompt next to the standard ui progress dialogue buttons, circle for instance on ps5.
Tip I found playing. If a griffin or drake flys off, if you don’t wanna chase it down just save and reload. Should be flying above you and will attack momentarily. Will not recover hp.
Forager is a lot more useful than it sounds. It marks not only materials on the map but materials that enemies drop so it basically lets you track bosses as it has to mark the enemy that drops that material.
I apologize for this ignorance I'm about to have but how do you get it to Mark Boss materials? When I click on the item I don't see anything to mark it like in Zelda breath of the wild
@@Rain1 so I was kinda wrong. They do mark materials but they only mark materials you need to enhance what you’re equipped with. Go to a smith and try to enhance and they will mark where you can get them on the map as blue crystals.
@@AceTheMadAngel dang that still sends amazing though. I got to try that out. Been wondering where the heck I find this wailing crystal at without looking it up online. If I could figure it out in game somehow I will. I'll try what you said
WARNING ABOUT THE GRIMOIRE QUEST: Do not I repeat do not just give the Old man just 3 tomes collect ALL OF THE TOMES (5) total make copies of each give him the 5 FAKES give the real ones to a little girl you find later on wanting to learn magic return and stop her to get the other mastery for Sorc and Mage. You miss out on good rewards if you only give 3.
what do you miss out on? gave him three fakes, and got the robe and the skill (in case you didn't know, the skill is only dependent on relationship so you can just give him a spellbook or two. (the normal cheap ones) and he'll give you the skill without needing to wait on 5 copies from the forger
If you want to explore the Castle freely go in through the right door. There is a chest with the armour the guards wear. If you equip it, the guard will leave you alone.
@@AesirUnlimitedno, they don't. As part of the main quest to talk to the guy in prison, I went in with my normal gear. The music changed to being far more threatening, and I was attacked by several guards when walking around looting chests. I wore the guard armour, and, they didn't attack. 😊👍
@@benjolley4120I’ve tried that armor but nothing will guarantee not being attacked on areas you shouldn’t .. from what I’ve seen the range of being caught is just huge or only a few NPCs can trigger it (or maybe a combination of both)
The stealth in this game is a joke and completely broken. I've had guards ignore me in the castle while I was wearing my normal gear, and I've had them attack me while I was disguised. The stealth missions in this game are completely obnoxious and busted
Also dont forget to progress the fighter vocation at least until you get the "thew" augment. It adds +10 to carry weight, which is HUGE imo, and can be used on any voaction once you obtain it.
Here's the thing about 10:08 you don't really need the key to get in the vault, all you have to do is wait for the knight to leave that area and the queen regent to go in which unlocks the place for you but in doing so you need to stay out of her line of sight when you go in there, The guard leaves at the start of night which gives you the time needed to sneak in while the regent is in there.
PROTIP!!! When you return to Melve and it’s attacked by a dragon. You can head up to the tower with the Ballista and use it to kill the dragon before it escapes! Took me 3 full shots to kill it. And with it dead you instantly learn the Mythic Spearhands Ultimate skill after talking to the vocation npc. And if you’re SUPER LUCKY *like my brother* you might get a weapon (Dead Ringer) a Mythic Spearhand weapon with a drop rate of 12.35% looting the corpse. Edit: you need your pawns with you at the Ballista so they can help operate it!!
I just ran straight through the checkpoint. The gate opens as you approach so I just booked it and outran the guards. You even get an achievement for it!
Get through (run or use the cart). Get achievement. (Step out of cart if that is how you passed the gate). Get tackled and caught. Get free ride to jail... escape easily. Follow path to town. Drop Portcrystal. Make an Inn Save via the cheap inn (not the Flagship one) or buy the home.
You can also pick up the guard and move him away from the gate and the gate will open when you walk up to it, however everyone on the other side will attack you
When you sleep in the house the lady sells u in vernworth, or any house actually, its considered a “last inn save”. So if u have something ur tryna do that will require trial and error, this is a safe way to get around the autosave
@@todaysking10 well ur game broken or something lol. U can jump in the cart that spawns near the border gate. It’ll take u right thru the gate, when u jump out guards might agro, but u can easily just sprint past and escape them.
Interesting detail. [minor mechanic spoiler] My brother and I were playing the game post ng+ our pawns started chatting and one started talking about scars. After we checked. Our pawns have literally gained scars over time. My sibling who's pawn has taken the most damage seems to have deep and large scars whereas mine has a cross scar on her chest. Pawn scarring is absolutely real.
@@judahofjudea4601 it’s only your main pawn and when they die in your service so maybe? Keep your pawn safe, bro. Also I think you can clear scars at the barber.
@@AceTheMadAngel you cannot... the only way to cure the scars gotten from dying is to take a trip to the volcano hot springs... paying 100g and sitting in the water with your pawns will heal all your scars.
Me too! Seen 90% of the game while he must be a depressed alcoholic by now. I’m lv61 and my pawn maxed all vocations. I almost talked to him but i discovered new things that i need to go discover first
once I hit the main city, I've just been ignoring the main quest (poor man, sitting in that bar 24/7 while I'm out collecting random junk) and just traveling around leveling vocations, collecting seeker tokens, doing whatever side quest I happen to come across. About to advance Beren's quest chain before heading back to the cave to get those books. Probably gonna die to that lich a few times. once I've explored the map, unlocked and leveled most vocations (not touching trickster) and put together my own version of the Mystic Knight, then I'll go speak to the guy in the bar to see what he has to say.
This is me like when i play the first game on switch. I just do the extra dungeon while ignoring the main quest. Before i knew it i was already level 190 and i still haven't get to the dragon in the main quest.
Basicly how i played so farr, i only did the monster subduegation mission for him, but other than that my arisen is less than interessted in becomming a royal figure. and to explain trickster, i am sure the class is fun and all but i have no idea how to actually fight with it (i can only rely on moody pawns todo the actual work).
The lich fight can be made easier/harder by knocking him into the chimera boss room. Now I didn’t know the chimera was down there until i accidentally knocked the lich down there. That became an absolutely chaotic fight with all 3 parties fighting each other.
@@blackgod5028 It's not good. It can't do any damage, literally any, on it's own. The entire play style for the class is managing a really low health shade that you summon, while constantly generating aggro to yourself or your shade if it's alive, but if you ever get hit the shade instantly dies, and it takes ~2 seconds to resummon it even with the passive speeding it up. It's impossible to keep it alive (the only way to heal it is to hold your vocation skill button, which causes it to float behind you drawing all of the enemies straight to you) if there's more than like 2 enemies hitting it. The **only** redeeming skill Trickster has is an aoe buff that drastically increases the damage your pawns do, at the cost of constantly draining their health, but it's 100% not worth being stuck as Trickster for.
Melve never ended up being taken over by soldiers for me because I threw a certain npc into the brine who was supposed to tell the other npc about filling melve with soldiers 😂 I only did it because they were annoying me
I got to Bakbattahl by sneaking up on an ox cart going through it, it's a totally legal thing to do that will definitively not have the guards on the other side of the gate attack you as soon as you get out of the cart.
0:43 there is another way for crossing and you can see it behind your character at this second. Sometimes you can see those "luxorious" wagoons, and you can go into them and pass the checkpoint. However guards will be hostile if you leave it (I left game on, went to make tea/something to eat and i was already behind checkpoint, but when i go out and moved back, guards started attacking me) Here not sure, but either Pawns or in the city you can hear "tip" for this. Like "OH did you hear that they are letting wagoons pass through checkpoint all the time?" Something similar to this :P
Did this accidentally with the thought “Well he says I can’t get in the cart but that door doesn’t have a lock” and the next thing I know I’m through. Laughed for a while and got two achievements
I did that too and because I fight anything that farts, the fight didn't go more than 5 seconds that they ended up just putting their weapons away. And I was free to roam and die from the damn goblins.
@@BlackSteelRaven The entire reason I wanted to go down there was for the Magick Archer, so I just ran from the guys. Only fights I did were the ones I couldn’t avoid, like the double cyclops
Adding onto this, a quick way to get the luxury cart to spawn is to use the oxcart signpost at the entrance of the town to "wait for oxcart", which will spawn the regular oxcart that is headed to Vernworth, you should then use the "doze off" option on a bench one time which removes the regular oxcart (best to use the bench in the inn building, as the one right by the signpost made the oxcart keep reappearing for me), if you then run across the bridge out of the town the luxury cart will spawn there on the road. Also, to not be attacked by the guards on the other side of the gate, just stay on the cart until they are out of view, or alternatively, if you have a gaol key and want a very quick trip to Bakbattahl (the Battahl capital city) just let the guards on the Battahl side of the gate "kill" you (you don't actually die, they take you down to 1 hp), and they'll send you to the prison in Bakbattahl, at which point you just open your cell with the gaol key and walk out.
I’m sure someone has already mentioned this, but if you are at the checkpoint rest town, you can hop inside a fancy oxcart and jump the border going right through where you would normally be asked for a permit. Remember them yelling for everybody to get out of the carriage, but I stay inside and let me through. On my ng+ play
With the Maister teachings and all, they're affinity based, not quest based it seems. Passed the supposed quest to get Lennart's for my fighter pawn. Raised his affinity and he gave me the scroll.
Really?! TY! Will try it out. My Ulrike/Lennart quest decayed because I pushed the main story too far. I feared that I have to do fighter ult in NG+ for the trophy. Now only the seeker coin riddle is in my way. I guess the lack of affinity also might be the reason of why I didnt get the chirurgeon tome from that one person yet. Because I did the quest and all though. Didnt think about affinity being a factor.
Passing by the gate with the permit DOES NOT require a mask necessarily. It depends on what you do during the Arisen's Shadow quest. If you handle that quest one way, you can pass without a mask. If you don't, you must be a Beastren to cross. If you are not a Beastren, you need a mask.
If you save all your apples/grapes and their ripe versions until you get to bakbattahl (or are lucky enough to find the wandering beastren merchant in checkpoint town), you can sell them for 10x their base sell price and it adds up very quickly. if you don't have a stockpile of them like i do, you can buy them for the cheap price at various places in vermund, particularly in melve (until that quest happens) you can buy 5 of each, sit on a bench for a day or so, and buy more and toss them into your storage using the inn right across the street. there are also ways to make this more efficient like only selling ripened fruit or by using portcrystals and regularly using profits to grab a couple ferrystones. credit to kibbles gaming.
There’s an easier way to get across the border when the taxi that’s what I call it goes past the border he’s not gonna take you he just go inside and stay inside until the gate open and when the gate opens, you can just go through as long as you stay inside the coach
OmG I missed the melve quest. I thought I finished the whole quest line before moving on to the next area. I already found Ureka and report to Lenneart. And I thought it was all over…
Around 8:50 I got that place open by going there at night and pissing off the skeletons who broke the board guarding the door. No need for fancy movement skills.
1:38 a warning for people, Guerco Cave is actually FAR more harder than that. When I approached the cave, there was a *Drake* sitting right in front of the entrance to the (chasm? Not sure what to call narrow passage before cave) Took a long time to kill that, but I did. Next problem, that you can see briefly in the video, is that there is a *Griffon* flying close enough that it will very likely *aggro* on your butt. If that’s not bad enough, there’s a chance the Griffon could land on the bridge, or some stray fighting hits the bridge and it collapses. This is the only bridge possible to use this passage, so if it knocks out, you have to sprint back to the valley before the cave and camp out there for a few days until the bridge gets repaired. (And why would you spend enough time there for the Griffon to aggro on you, you might say? Because there are a bunch of annoying bandits in the ruined houses just before the bridge on that cliff.) Not even at the end of the problems. There’s a whole ass Golem and a Chimera waiting for you in the later lengths of the passages, only the Chimera is really in a place that it is an ‘optional’ boss fight. At the very least, if you run through all this and survive, the passage will spit you out straight into Bakbattahl’s little farming area in the residential district (hope I spelt that correctly) so you won’t have to run into further desert horrors to get to the city. But yeah, you’re gonna earn your right to skip over the border here. 😅😅😅
You can get a borderpass that lets you pass without being Beastren or needing the mask. Pre-coronation you eventually get a "tail" catch him, decline offer, try not to kill him Brant will come take them away for interrogation and which will lead to the non-Beastren pass. With the tomes the guy also gives you a relatively late game (Hot Spring late) Sorc/Mage armour.(I gave him 5 fakes) Also a side tip for those that got Mildred's house, since the initial gate to Vernworth can have large monsters spawn in including Drakes.... If you spot it(panicked and cowering NPC's will tell you something isn't right) without agro you can run back to the house and rest, resetting the town so you don't have to deal with it or risk NPC's dying in the process of killing them.
Is there away to change back your pawns specialization to an older one? or is it just one time use and u lose it forever?? cant see any option to change back
@_fluffypuppy_ Totally agree with you. They have added so many complications and extra steps in this game that it is ridiculous. The first DD was a joy to play, but this one just feels like it is too big and has too much going on. I'm still trying to play through it, but I definitely don't feel the same sense of enjoyment and freedom that I had with the first game.
@jonipalumbo4802 just play and enjoy there's always new game plus also if you have to try out the things and are stuck a bit you get to really try em and see what you like. When you change their specialization maybe changing inclination would help as well like a forager or logistical with the personality to match also some are better at certain jobs.
I dragged that whole crew of soldiers into the waterfall cave "on the way" to the city proper. Had to reload save a few times tying to fight the lich underleveled without also losing the main npc tied to the escort quest.
Earliest easiest one to get is on top of the smithy in the checkpoint area where you first summon your pawn. Like 5 minutes into the game. That's my first for "that quest" lol.
One thing of note about the Logistician specialization: There's a quest in Bakbattahl where a dwarf wants an elven stew made with rotten apples and fish. If you have a pawn with the Logistician specialization in the party, it's impossible to complete the quest since they will immediately use your apples and fish to make potions rather than allowing them to rot. Well, you CAN find rotten materials on the ground, but those are random.
For looting the castle in vernworth you can use the marchers diguise it works in jail and when running round at night also all the way at the top of one of the towers the one with the lift there are some goodies but the real prize is another dragons gaze. So you can get one before completing brants quest. Also for the magister quest before you go to finish it stop at the forger and forge the goal key give the fake to brant and you get a permanat goal key.
Waterfall cave can also be entered by going back to where the griffin crash landed at the start of the game where Rook goes "fishing". When the griffins body disappears u can get in the cave, go through A LOT of saurians and get to the Wight/Chimera area.
I noticed a lot of people don’t mention it enough, but if you wait long enough at the border to Battahl you can avoid getting a permit/alternate routes entirely by just waiting for the gate to open for somebody else or a wagon/carriage to be passing through, then quickly running beside it or right through as the gate opens. Sure The guards will aggro but if you haul ass you can easily make it way past their aggro range and they will just forget anything ever happened. Also bets you a secret achievement/trophy for illegally crossing the border.
Detection only works on wakestones and seeker tokens. Not high quality chests. Recommend doing the girls book quest at eini's house first (keep all the forged books in your stash). Give her the 5 real ones, progress quest/complete and get a turquoise ring. Now do the man in checkpoint resttown and wear the ring when interacting. You'll receive additional dialogue. 😉👍 Not sure if more will come from it, but it seems like the door is opened for something new to occur... Don't want to spoil anything.
Lucky i did rush things. I'm clearing side quest and unlocking master skill. 30hrs still a lot of things to do. Fast travel is a problem in DD1 we have the eternal ferrystone.
@@cantremember6794 Buying full game + Dark arisen dlc came with the eternal ferry stone. Those have the main game just buy the dlc don't get it. But after a lot of complaints from us , they patched the game , so eternal ferry stone is now in everyone hand who buy the dlc .
Its unfortunate that the Mage/Wizard is the only ones that can get to a Ton of hidden areas for chests and tokens. - I WANT to play as just the fighter, but i HAVE to play Spearhand for the ability to get up on higher ledges. I fear that the only way to play Fighter is a 3rd playthrough, after getting all the tokens/boxes. But who knows if ill want to play through a 3rd time. Fighting the same things, in the same locations, knowing nothing new will come of it.
You can also just jump into the wagon that passes through the gate. The guards on the far side will get mad, but running away and back will reset their memory.
On pawn specializations and in general, no need to specifically do quests affinity with nocs can give you good things for once the gifts at your house but also, tomes and even specific items, of course doing some quests for them boost affinity as well so expect to have high affinity with frequently visited nocs abd story npcs, boosting affinity with gifts is very adviced, you can check a list of items of npc liking in the game "history" tab
To get past the border you can get in an oxcart around midday (morning and one snooze) on its way to batthal and just wait for it to cross. you also get an achievement :)
Large/boss type enemies seem to almost all have rare gear drops, some of which are available surprisingly early on for how good they are. These are also all mostly in the stealing pool, so it's insanely worthwhile to have a thief in your party with the stealing skill equipped at ALL TIMES. Some of the notables include the lich/wight drop of a +45% fire damage archistaff, the medusa's 4x exp bow, among many others. (also a LOT of all-class or very abnormally good single class armor, such as a fire resistant mage coat) You can use this to get some REALLY good power buffs super early game, especially if you savescum certain early bosses for them, or even just abuse the steal mechanic against enemies you can't currently defeat. In particular, the fire archistaff is obtainable in waterfall cave, and the medusa bow is technically available as soon as you leave to go to the capitol, you just have to make your way over to any wild medusa spawn, which I believe there's at least one somewhere nearish the checkpoint town, and will make you level up RIDICULOUSLY faster.
supposedly you can actually ride a cart through the checkpoint at the border to the desert. it's a fancy cart that goes right through. ll you need to do is go inside before it reaches the guards.
For waterfallcave, the chimera i fought was controlled by the goat which was fkn crazy, 2 pawns had died before from fall dmg(Not parkour masters) and that fight was insane. Definitely one of my most satisfying encounters
Sleeping at your home also counts as an "Inn Rest" for purposes of reloading a save from last inn rest so that's another perk. Saved me alot of time I thought I'd lost because I only slept at an actual inn like twice
There's a pawn specialization that stops them talking unless absolutely necessary, got it from Enio, same place as the eini house. Gave it to after completing the book requests for the girl, might need to give him some gifts if he talks to you with distain, his dialogue will change to be more positive after a couple of gifts.
You can get through the gate without a permit by waiting for an ox cart headed that way and hop on the foot rail..... You will briefly be attacked by like 3 people and everyone else will kind of freak out but just run down the road around the first turn and go back and everything will be fine
To get to the desert even easier just wait for the carriage oxcart and jump in the cabin. Simply stay inside and wait it out. Will get an achievement/trophy this way also.
Is the forager pawn thing what makes those 'rock with a blue outline' icons appear on the map? Ive been seeing those on a lot of vids so im curious. The icons even appear in darkenes areaa that have not been visted yet.
you can also kidnap deisa and use her as a key just pick her up carry her through door for some reason it just works/wait for her to go to the vault at night if you dont want to be chased by guards
You can cross the border by getting into an empty ox cart, the ox carts have priority and are not checked. But don't step out immediately after you cross the border, otherwise the guards will attack you.
So it turns out if you do the quest “an arisens shadow” and capture them you get a version of the gate pass that you don’t need to be a beastren for, the quest disappears after coronation so keep an eye out for it
Just so you know: 'tis not neccessary to cheat the guard before the vault, there are actually multiple ways of getting there, without abusing errors. First: get a guards uniforme, wear it and go there at night. (You can also go there at night, without the uniforme, but... dont get seen) 2nd: Increase sympathy with Disa by giving her gifts untill she blushes, when talking to you and afterwards follow her to the vault, once she walks there. 3rd: (i did not try this, its just what someone told me would work as well) tricksters mastery skill to scare off the guard, than walk inside the vault.
near to the vernworth castle gaol tower you can climb down a ladder, where you can find an armor. If you wear that armor you can walk in the whole castle and gaol tower, cause they think you are one of them.
Funny how I found these quests through my preferred method of gaming: leaving the main story alone until I have explored and done the side missions I find through said exploration. Exploration is it's own reward... especially when the map is pristinely fog free.
Beware, if you decide to fight the gryphon at it's nest in early/lower levels. After fighting for a bit a second gryphon (it's mate?) joins the fight and makes things MUCH harder. Learning how to fight gryphons can make the a lot easier and reducing it's life to near death before letting it leave the initial point of battle can help avoid fighting 2. But leaving the nest can be even harder. The problem here is that it's connected to a fog forest where you can't see the way to go and if it's night, which is likely considering how long the gryphon (or 2) will take at lower levels, you'll be dealing with undead... and that's just the beginning. Thankfully there is a Ferry Stone in the nest, so make sure you activate the Port Crystal in the big main town beforehand and you'll have an easy emergency escape method if needed.
You can also get though the checkpoint if you get into a cart and then go though it. how ever the guards will come after you if spotted. but the gate opens anyway.
"Detection" doesn't ping random high quality chests, it pings wakestone/shards. Those are the only chests that will ping, similar thing can be achieved with a dragon eye which marks shards near you on the map.
If you turn your "stalker" in to brant instead of letting him go, you don't need to be beaserin to cross the gate. He gives you a different kind of permit
I completely missed the Ulrika stuff in the beginning of the game with the Oxcart quest to Melve. I got the quest and got on the Oxcart but during travel, the cart was ambushed and destroyed. I went back to Venworth and hopped on another cart. But it was also ambushed and destroyed. So i just decided to leg it to Melve. Got there, delivered a letter and went on doing whatever. Then a couple days later, my husband was like "where can i find Ulrika?" And he told me some other stuff about the quest, i dont want to spoil for you if you havent done it. But i was like... i dont remember that at all! And i realized.. the quest triggers with the arrival of the Oxcart in Melve.. and i was on foot.😢
Get rich by tab over to specialization/ quest in the rift and just lok for 10k quest like cyclops or ogres, very common or the 10k one arrow..just aim for 10k quest to make molla
To pass the border you can just wait until they open the gate and run through 😅 I've been border hopping since lv 14 without doing any story quest to get vocations early
10:12 there you are. the Wyrmhunter's Cloak is one of the pieces of equipment i'm after. i've been hoping the Wiki would have the information on how to get it. no need, now; i'll just keep this page open.
detection only detects chests with wakestone shards. not all valuables just wakestone shards. the daggers in the seeker tokens (when equipped) will act similar when near any chest though.
For Trickster you can go straight to the Maister on top of the temple and she’ll give you both the master ability and the class. Saves you a some gold lol

Accidentaly grabbed (pinned down) the nun without collecting the evidence first. They took her to court but she got out since they had no evidence to imprison her. So the quest ended and i only got 4000$ for my efforts. And she is probably still torturing people in the basement. 😒
I didn't pay attention to my pawns being this is my first dragon's dogma game so all of vernworth died. Now the first time one pawn acts defiant, they go for a swim
Yea that lich was a surpriseish cos u expect it sometimes in gaming but my pawn did mention something about not always being treasure in chests a few times previously and I immediately thought MIMIC lol I was only level 9 but I bested it thankfully. Imma explorer
i didnt go back to melve before pushing the story, so missed the dragon attacking melve, and missed out on the fighter meister skill, and pretty much cant do any quests related to melve anymore lol.
How do I know if I'm in the early mid or late game? The only thing I've done so far was that first part of the story quest where he wanted you to call the monsters a bunch of side quests and I pretty much sprint it straight to unlock magic archer and then went back to the beginning area. That was hard. I kind of like that I can get to magic Archer without doing that first story mission and I kind of like that it's so far so I can't just willy-nilly walk back and forth there and skip a bunch of stuff like I went there for the magic archer I made sure I looked at what I want to look at talk to I wanted to talk to but because I knew once I ferry stoned back to that first major city it was going to be a journey to get back to where I was. But it's okay because all I wanted to do was unlock the class I wanted to play and now I'm going to play the game normally. So I feel like I'm still in an early game but just doing that alone. I'm already level 30 if you vocations to level five or six and my main pun almost has one of his vocations maxed out I ran past as much as I could but most enemies you could fight and even if you don't feel like you're doing enough damage as long as you don't die you can pretty much just eventually whittle down an enemy until they are dead and I did die a lot. I spent 7 hours doing it and there was a lot of dying. 1:30 I see you took the path I took to get down there. The only difference is to get from the first area to the second area. If you get inside one of the the carts the royal carts that are covered you can sneak past the border guard. I even got an achievement for doing it
If you use one of the pawn specialisation scrolls, and then want to change it to another one, does it remove the previous specialisation forever or are they there to change out whenever you want?

Tip I found playing. If a griffin or drake flys off, if you don’t wanna chase it down just save and reload. Should be flying above you and will attack momentarily. Will not recover hp.
Forager is a lot more useful than it sounds. It marks not only materials on the map but materials that enemies drop so it basically lets you track bosses as it has to mark the enemy that drops that material.
Thank you, this is a wonderful tip👍
I apologize for this ignorance I'm about to have but how do you get it to Mark Boss materials?
When I click on the item I don't see anything to mark it like in Zelda breath of the wild
@@Rain1 so I was kinda wrong. They do mark materials but they only mark materials you need to enhance what you’re equipped with. Go to a smith and try to enhance and they will mark where you can get them on the map as blue crystals.
@@AceTheMadAngel dang that still sends amazing though. I got to try that out.

If you want to explore the Castle freely go in through the right door. There is a chest with the armour the guards wear. If you equip it, the guard will leave you alone.
They leave you alone anyways. The game has no stealth features.
@@AesirUnlimitedno, they don't. As part of the main quest to talk to the guy in prison, I went in with my normal gear. The music changed to being far more threatening, and I was attacked by several guards when walking around looting chests. I wore the guard armour, and, they didn't attack. 😊👍

The stealth in this game is a joke and completely broken. I've had guards ignore me in the castle while I was wearing my normal gear, and I've had them attack me while I was disguised. The stealth missions in this game are completely obnoxious and busted
A note on the Detection Augment, it does not ping "any high value chest/item" it ONLY pings Seekers Tokens and Wakestone Shards, as far as I am aware.
Can confirm. The seeker reward daggers detects chests, while the augment detects Seeker/Wakestone
Thanks, super helpful. I just did it lol
Thief's Shadow Cloak/Veil ability helps with hiding for Disa, she also only seems to go to the vault post-coronation.
Time Stamps would be lovely for later referencing in video's like this.
I somehow got the weapon and didnt manage to kill it fast enough

I just ran straight through the checkpoint. The gate opens as you approach so I just booked it and outran the guards. You even get an achievement for it!
I rode a passing Oxcart🤭 'illicit means' 👌
This is perfect lol.
Get through (run or use the cart). Get achievement. (Step out of cart if that is how you passed the gate). Get tackled and caught. Get free ride to jail... escape easily. Follow path to town. Drop Portcrystal.

My brother and I were playing the game post ng+ our pawns started chatting and one started talking about scars. After we checked. Our pawns have literally gained scars over time. My sibling who's pawn has taken the most damage seems to have deep and large scars whereas mine has a cross scar on her chest.
Pawn scarring is absolutely real.
I was wondering how my pawn ended up with a scar on her thigh.

Before i knew it i was already level 190 and i still haven't get to the dragon in the main quest.
whats wrong with trickster?

However guards will be hostile if you leave it (I left game on, went to make tea/something to eat and i was already behind checkpoint, but when i go out and moved back, guards started attacking me)
Here not sure, but either Pawns or in the city you can hear "tip" for this.
Really I didn't know there was more ways, I just used a flying sphinx to cross the border "legally"
With the Maister teachings and all, they're affinity based, not quest based it seems. Passed the supposed quest to get Lennart's for my fighter pawn. Raised his affinity and he gave me the scroll.
Except the thief’s. You get those regardless through the main quest
Really?!
For that vault I just used the knights outfit you get during one of the missions and walk right past them👍
If you save all your apples/grapes and their ripe versions until you get to bakbattahl (or are lucky enough to find the wandering beastren merchant in checkpoint town), you can sell them for 10x their base sell price and it adds up very quickly. if you don't have a stockpile of them like i do, you can buy them for the cheap price at various places in vermund, particularly in melve (until that quest happens) you can buy 5 of each, sit on a bench for a day or so, and buy more and toss them into your storage using the inn right across the street. there are also ways to make this more efficient like only selling ripened fruit or by using portcrystals and regularly using profits to grab a couple ferrystones.
credit to kibbles gaming.
And I thought it was all over…
Same, I never finished her quest and she eventually made her way to Harve instead.
Around 8:50 I got that place open by going there at night and pissing off the skeletons who broke the board guarding the door. No need for fancy movement skills.
I saw a ritzy oxcart by the border wall and just stood inside as it passed through the gate unchallenged🤣👌
1:38 a warning for people, Guerco Cave is actually FAR more harder than that.
When I approached the cave, there was a *Drake* sitting right in front of the entrance to the (chasm? Not sure what to call narrow passage before cave)
Took a long time to kill that, but I did.
Because there are a bunch of annoying bandits in the ruined houses just before the bridge on that cliff.)
Not even at the end of the problems.
The bridge isn't the only path, you can just go down along the little rocks and beaches (past the Bayside Shrine) and get to the other side
You can get a borderpass that lets you pass without being Beastren or needing the mask. Pre-coronation you eventually get a "tail" catch him, decline offer, try not to kill him Brant will come take them away for interrogation and which will lead to the non-Beastren pass.
With the tomes the guy also gives you a relatively late game (Hot Spring late) Sorc/Mage armour.(I gave him 5 fakes)
Also a side tip for those that got Mildred's house, since the initial gate to Vernworth can have large monsters spawn in including Drakes....

@@ThePhOeNiX86That is so fucking dumb. Some systems in this game make no sense
Another way to pass the time is by using the ox cart sign. You'll start the day earlier morning
Or any bench. Or any pub/tavern.
I dragged that whole crew of soldiers into the waterfall cave "on the way" to the city proper. Had to reload save a few times tying to fight the lich underleveled without also losing the main npc tied to the escort quest.
Remember to mark where you find your first Seeker token

Thank you so much for posting your videos! This is so helpful! I like the tomes for the mage or sorceress info! Thank you! ❤
Haven't heard anyone talk about this, but I just got on the merchant oxcart to get through the main gate lol.

I fear that the only way to play Fighter is a 3rd playthrough, after getting all the tokens/boxes. But who knows if ill want to play through a 3rd time. Fighting the same things, in the same locations, knowing nothing new will come of it.
i hope you found the wayfarer vocation use all the fighter abilities you like then just swap to a mages staff and levitate to where you need to go
You can also just jump into the wagon that passes through the gate. The guards on the far side will get mad, but running away and back will reset their memory.
I just hop onto the ox cart and waited for it to cross the border. Without permits or anything.
(also a LOT of all-class or very abnormally good single class armor, such as a fire resistant mage coat)
You can use this to get some REALLY good power buffs super early game, especially if you savescum certain early bosses for them, or even just abuse the steal mechanic against enemies you can't currently defeat.
The Oracle's real form can be found on the roof of that temple, find her and she teaches you a trickster skill
DO NOT USE THE DETECTION AUGMENT UNLESS YOU ARE HUNTING FOR SEEKER TOKENS. The constant sound in dungeons/citys WILL drive you insane.
I have the same thing I assume it's because your pawn has visited those areas when travelling with another player
@@jackfish297 that is the forager specialization it marks all the upgrade mats on the map.
you can also kidnap deisa and use her as a key just pick her up carry her through door for some reason it just works/wait for her to go to the vault at night if you dont want to be chased by guards
This is the first video I've seen that mentions the Guerco Cavern route. It's the fastest and easiest shortcut past the border. 👍
The home (resting save) counts as an Inn (resting save). Found out from a death loop and was stuck, so the house purchase is worth it.
near to the vernworth castle gaol tower you can climb down a ladder, where you can find an armor.
You can jump on the top of an oxcart to go through the checkpoint gate immediately, you get an achievement doing it
"Detection" doesn't ping random high quality chests, it pings wakestone/shards.
I'm just hoped owning a house would give you some buffs when you slept there as well, would be good to be able to cook just like in camp
You can jump in a noble carriage outside checkpoint camp to get through the gate. Hop out right after the gate and the guards take you to Beth prison.
The path to batahl from the coastal caves was guarded by a Drake in my save so you might want to be careful with that one.
Detection only shows you to high quality chests that have wakestone shards in them btw, still useful but should be mentioned
detection only detects chests with wakestone shards. not all valuables just wakestone shards. the daggers in the seeker tokens (when equipped) will act similar when near any chest though.
For Trickster you can go straight to the Maister on top of the temple and she’ll give you both the master ability and the class. Saves you a some gold lol
3:99 not a lich, it's a wight. There's a difference as wight's drop black crystals and liches drop wailing crystals. While also looking and behaving completely different from each other.
The specializations in the slums noted can be rewarded just for finding the missing boy in the slums.
5 unique books, u can give three to one character and 2 to another character. And take the 2 sorcerer skills and 1 mage skill normaly. Its not necessary copy them.
The slum (nun) quest line is the best so far imo.
Accidentaly grabbed (pinned down) the nun without collecting the evidence first.
They took her to court but she got out since they had no evidence to imprison her.
So the quest ended and i only got 4000$ for my efforts.
And she is probably still torturing people in the basement. 😒
im level 20 and i havwnt even finished half of brants stuff at rhe tavern.
Just loving the world!
I didn't pay attention to my pawns being this is my first dragon's dogma game so all of vernworth died. Now the first time one pawn acts defiant, they go for a swim
You should add timestamps any videos like this, they just make the video better
Does the trickster augment work if your pawn has it on?
Your pawn can't use Trickster class so they cannot unlock it.
Seeing you fly on the back of the monster makes me wish even more that we had mounts especially flying ones
Solid video 🎉 thanks for the info, friend
Waterfall Cave's Chimera becomes a Gorechimera later on in case you want the medal or materials.
I'm already level 30 if you vocations to level five or six and my main pun almost has one of his vocations maxed out
I ran past as much as I could but most enemies you could fight and even if you don't feel like you're doing enough damage as long as you don't die you can pretty much just eventually whittle down an enemy until they are dead and I did die a lot. I spent 7 hours doing it and there was a lot of dying.
1:30 I see you took the path I took to get down there. The only difference is to get from the first area to the second area. If you get inside one of the the carts the royal carts that are covered you can sneak past the border guard. I even got an achievement for doing it
If you use one of the pawn specialisation scrolls, and then want to change it to another one, does it remove the previous specialisation forever or are they there to change out whenever you want?
on topic of crossing border a cart goes trough there you can ride it through as well without any real issues
