uberEATS vs POSTMATES (WHICH PAYS BETTER?)

  • Here, I made a little video about my first 30 deliveries on both uberEATS and Postmates. This are my numbers for Austin, Texas, and what I got while working. I just want to compare my data and see which platform was working better.
    I personally love both platforms, perfect for a side job. Both Blitz and Surge jobs were the same. 10 blitz and 10 surge.
    Let me know what you think! Or your experience!

    My experience in south florida and orlando is that postmates is far better. Uber eats customers rarely tip. With postmates you have to finesse it for it to make sense for you. I tend to only do restaurant orders with postmates and the tips are usually $5 or more. My average with uber eats right now is $5.88 a trip. My postmates average is $7.74 a trip. Also with postmates you should call in orders to save time.

      Young Prezzy what do you mean call in orders?

    • @Gtown488
      @Gtown488 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cinemagoer_64 I think what he means is calling in orders when its a fast food delivery. I drive with Postmates and usually restaurant orders are already there for pickup.

    This was an incredibly helpful video. I really appreciate the scientific method of averages, and your technique in presenting the numbers. I started running for UberEats recently, and I was astounded at how low the pay was. I just signed up for Postmates to test them out, came across your video, and I find that your video is very helpful and well put together!

    It's the opposite for me on a bicycle in Chicago. Uber Eats ends up getting me significantly more money. Postmates will send me half way across the city, on my bike, on every other order. The most I ever made on Postmates per hour was around $17, vs with Uber Eats I've had a max of $28 per hour, with the averages being around $11 per hour with Postmates and $16 per hour with Uber Eats, counting tips on both. To improve Postmates needs to stop sending cyclist more than 2 miles from the restaurant or store. I still get on Postmates though if I've waited more than 10-15 minutes for an order through Uber, to keep the $ per hour as high as I can.

    You broke this down better than anyone else I've seen. It was quick to the point. I had my ubereats account deactivated because they said I was late. Out of almost 200 deliveries and late 3 times for issues out of my control. I signed up for postmates but never did anything with it. In fact I think I lost that card....I'll need to reconsider with them now.

    Over here in the Pac NW, like in Austin, most UberEats' customers (around 80%) do NOT tip even when they want us to deliver to their apartment doorstep but during lunch and dinner rush hours, UberEats pays a minimum of $7.04 per trip for a 2-mile (from the restaurant) delivery. My personal experience with Postmates sucks hugely, done about 50 trips. Sure, about 50% of the eaters tip but not much, $1 to $4,. For most trips, Postmates pays $4, so with tips, it's around $6 total. What is worse is, I have AT LEAST one delivery that did not show at all. Nothing. This means, I delivered for Postmates for free! Another one, I was paid $0.85 after going all the way to that restaurant that was closed that day and a 3rd one, I was paid $0.29 (29 freaking cents) AFTER picking up and reaching the drop off address when the customer canceled. Good luck getting any help from their support. Bottom line: Both companies are evil as hell - in different ways! Example: Both companies send bike delivery people up 800 ft elevation, cancel enough times, they will deactivate your account. Happened to my roommate. No ifs or buts. Will be trying Caviar soon, hope they are more human.

      Thank you so much for your input, I’ll be honest with you, there is no real “winner” when it comes to comparing these two. Yes, there technically could be a “better” one, but it’s not any better than the other. For me, I usually find it easier to just work a regular retail instead, since it’s guaranteed hours and pay (most of the time lol). For Postmates and UBEReats, some days are good and some are just horrible. I’ve had bad experiences with both platforms, so I totally understand you. Hope caviar treats you better! Good luck out there!!!

    I like that I don't see a rating for postmates and the tips are good. The app works good too. I don't know ow if I'm messing with Uber again. (I have a 4.96) the rating just makes it a mindscrew

    I’m doing Postmates for some extra pocket money and it made me realize just how cheap people are! Most people do not even tip! How are you not going to to tip on a $85 order?? I now really feel for full-time food deliverers.

      Tipping used to be part of the American culture,i often hear Canadians are cheap,well,Quebecois are well known for being cheap.But they are Canadiens,not Canadians.And Canadiens are a very small group in Canada.But it really shocks me to see how many americans have become the cheapest skates in history.Especially sadists wealthy guys..And that is a fact.I was on deliveries back to back, this past weekend and found only 1 or 2 percent tip .

    I tried Waitr and didn't like getting paid every two weeks. I only do Uber Eats and Doordash. I'm going to start Postmates this week. To me I make more with Uber Eats. I get tipped more often and more money. Also where I am at there aren't as many drivers so sometimes I get orders that have waited a while and I get paid $10 or $15 for those and still get tipped after.

    I am going to start today got all my stuff and, I am ready to go. But for some reason I am a bit nervous about doing this not sure why I have never dealt with people. I am new to Austin just moved here from a town in Montana with only 200 people. And to top it off I really do not know my way around. I am going to try the area around Mopac and 183 first. Thanks for the videos...I really hope I can make this work...

    • @AustenTkel
      @AustenTkel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KennyB, welcome to Austin though! I also moved here from a small town, so it was a culture shock for me at least ... but now I love Austin lol.
      But good luck with your deliveries! I was nervous the first time, but after a while it becomes second nature! Have fun out there! But the Mopac/183 area tends to have a good amount of orders honestly! I think you’ll get plenty of orders!

  • @JesusArellano

    So you have to order the food when you arrive at the restaurant or is the order ready for you just to pick it up and go?

      Jesus Arellano, yes for postmates you might have to order the food.
      However, for UBEReats you just need to pick it up. You never have to order anything for UBEReats

    Im in Raleigh NC and Uber is better. Surge is about 2.5 and 3x most of the time. Postmates make you order the food, etc. On postmates delivery you spend more time. I like Uber better. But again it depends if where you are from.

    They both pretty much pan out even. Because although Postmates customers do tip more, you forgot to mention Uber has promo's like twice a week....do 35 deliveries/trips, get an extra $50, do 50 deliveries/trips get an extra $40 etc. So it pretty much balances out about the same. If you're a Uber driver doing rideshare trips along with deliveries, you're almost guarenteed those bonuses....unless you're just a lazy ass doing like 20 deliveries/trips a week. I personally prefer Uber eats, less work for bout the same amount of money(you don't have to use a card or order food).

    • @AustenTkel
      @AustenTkel  6 ปีที่แล้ว
