    I would like someone to do a video on blitz because I was just notified of blitz and went online but didn't get blitz. So I just have no clue and post mates like all other app jobs doesn't teach you anything.

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      While there is a blitz period. Personally, I think blitz is more of a lie, to get people to hop on out to work when there is to much order volume and not enough workers out working. If you are lucky. Blitz is where they are charging customers higher prices for their orders because it is a prime time of the day for ordering food. Such as lunch and/or dinner. So you may get paid an extra 25 cents to 5 dollars depending on the order and percentages they are charging customers. But in the two, almost three years I've worked for them. I've maybe hopped on to work like 7or 8 times and gotten blitz once.

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's almost like a lottery. The first few who hop on may get the blitz. But I've always thought it's honestly just to get people out working because postmates needs help. Not necessarily because you'll get paid for it.

      BlackCloverTRG Because I drive a lot of miles and have about 200,000 miles on my car, I drive a 1995 Honda Civic. It was passed down to me by my dad, and I haven't proceeded to get a new car yet, cause I'm not sure I want all those miles on a new car. However, the city people live in may be smaller or bigger than mine, so mileage may vary! 😊

    I can tell u first hand and living in a military/college town people don’t tip. They think u should know where the fuck they live...even though they live in a confusing and fucked up community or apartment complex where what should be driveways are actually streets....or they live in the projects where every building looks the fucking same and ur suppose to know exactly where they live. People are always assholes even if u show up with a smile and a friendly attitude. U never get paid cash tips...NEVER. And the number one pet peeve you’ll deal with is when people don’t pre-order their shit...u will be wasting time waiting for $4 from some fat fuck that ordered a tripple whopper with cheese. If ur a customer please don’t be a dick, pre-order you’re shit at least....and tip at least a buck or two. Trust me, I’m learning quick and I’m not getting fucked over by the same assholes twice. Next time I’m calling shit in myself because assholes don’t think ahead.

      Right! Like its not to be mean! But we do see when you don't tip! Tips help a lot!! Great tip though, maybe ill start saying that!! :) Cause Even the best days can sometimes be crap when you aren't making those tips! haha

    • @LVScooter1
      @LVScooter1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. I like saying to them because their subconscious mind picks it up and tell the conscious mind to take care of the courier. I even had a customer ask me about me about the $3.99 delivery charge. She thought this literally goes to us when it does not. It goes directly to the company. I even told her that you take of us and we will take care of you. We love our customers. I have come to realize now that if the customer wants to tip they will. Their mind is made up before we see them. The ironic part is that Vegas is known as a tipping town. Now this is a big lie. I can tell you how many times I have been stiffed.

    • @LVScooter1
      @LVScooter1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have learned it is always good to ask for what we went. One would think it would be common sense to tip the courier. I do not like asking this. However, I feel I have no choice. If I knew every time I would I wold not ask. I try to have a smile on my face which shows I enjoy doing this gig. The worst ones are the ones who are waiting for you with their arms crossed. You just know they are gonna stiff you no matter how nice you are to them. This is just sad.

    When you do a full 7 or 8 hour shift do you just stay in your car the entire time? Do you return home for lunch or just eat in your car and stay in the city? By the way, what are the best times and days to work on the postmates app? Your videos are really motivational and i've been seriously considering trying postmates out. I'm 18 and need some money to move out of my familys house , (i love them and all but i'm trying to be a grown independent adult lol) do you think it's possible for postmates to pay the bills and rent in a small apartment ? sorry for all the questions, i'm just super interested !

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great Questions!!! Thanks for the support love!!! I usually stayed in my car or found a near by park. I didn't live inside, or anywhere close to the boarder that Postmates had to start work in, so I usually had to drive 15 minutes to be able to work and about 30 minutes to get downtown and into the city Hotspots. I would eat lunch in my car or the par, and on days my friends or my dogs would come to work with me, we'd go to lunch, or I'd take my dogs for a walk around the lake, if I took a lunch! :) The best times to work Postmates are around lunch and dinner I say Tuesday through Thursday. By Tuesday people are usually in the groove of working and aren't looking for a reason to get out of the office, like Mondays! Wednesday and Thursday is when work sets in and people are trying to get stuff done before Friday. If you work the weekends than you'll definitely make more money. But for a "Normal" work week, I worked Tuesday through Friday, and Sunday! You are for sure going to want to take a day off, so choose a day that works best for you. I chose Saturdays to relax, rest, hang out, clean, and things like that! Not sure what the prices are like for a small apartment in your city, but I would say as long as you stay motivated it is perfectly possible to live on your own and make money with Postmates! I work Postmates and now Grubhub cause I just wanted a safe cushion! and I'm going to make a video about Grubhub soon! But there are plenty of delivery jobs that you can do along with Postmates if you aren't sure! I feel like in terms of Flexibility Postmates is perfect. in terms of having a safe money cushion Grub Hub is also worth it!! :) No need to be sorry!! If you have any more questions let me know! :)

    A dude said that he switches to scooter so that he can see the items to pickup before he accepts it. I was thinking that that would not be legal and that postmates would ding him if he was caught (or taxes would be an issue). What do you think about that?

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean, the only negative kick back to that would be worrying about declining a lot of orders. Postmates generally looks at that, and won't send you a whole lot of opportunity orders. But that's just more of my opinion, not an actual fact. Legally it's not a problem because your a contractor that signed up with a 1099 tax form, so you are responsible for reporting your deductions properly when you file at the end of the year. So even legally it wouldn't benefit you whether a car or a scooter you still have to report your mileage. Unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to take it, I think Postmates doesn't care much about any of that at all, they care about the Order and the money. I also feel, even though its nice to be able to see the order first, depending on what city you are in, I almost feel like that would limit you from making more money with higher paying orders.

    Pro's about Postmates... 1) You're not sitting in your car giving rides to Lyft and Uber passengers and you can get out and get exercise..... 2) You don't have to keep your car clean all the time since you're the only one in your car.... 3) You don't have to put as many miles on your car to get the same amount of $ you'd get for driving people around.

    Thanks for making this video! You’re the first person to cover it so thoroughly. You may or may not have covered this, but I’m asking questions as I watch. Lol. So when you have to use the prepaid card to pay for orders, the customer has to pay you upon delivery?

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically! The customer will have already paid through the app and postmates will preload money to your card for purchases. If the card gets declined, just request in range how much more you will need preloaded on the card in the app. If it comes to that. But you should never, ever pay out of pocket. Unless the order calls for that. Which it shouldn't. 😊 Thank you for watching my video! I am here to help!

    I started two days ago and I like it more as part time! I always have to go to the red area? Because I have done it and it has not been satisfactory! I prefer stay in my house or near restaurants that order many orders and for me have been better! But I still have doubts, it is better to go to the red part and wait for the orders? How can I do more orders? Many times I do only one or two in an hour.

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aldo Segui Yeah, part time is a great speed if you like it that way! No, you don't always have to go to the red area, that's just what's recommended to get a quicker job! But if you know what restaurants are poppin, and what areas are most busy when you are working, then by all means keep doing that! Depends on your state and city too, in my state, always going to the red spots means there is way more volume, so you may or may not get a job fast. But I do what you do, when I figure out the actual "hot spots" I just work around there!! A lot of times you'll only be able to do one or two orders an hour anyway, do to drive time, restaurant wait time, and drop off time. That's how it is with Grubhub a little bit too! The best thing to do is stick to areas you know have more volume of people, office buildings, apartment places, small neighborhoods. and of course really busy and/or popular places to get food! :)

    hi, i like to sign up postmates, my question is how about the policy of car Insurance do i need update my regular insurance to commercial insurance?

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Artslourds Some say you do just to be safe and some say you don't because while on the job Postmates already has insurance that will "fully cover" you while you're on the job. I personally do not have commercial insurance because then you have to buy commercial license plates, and have to go through a longer process to get approved and they may have to come check your car to even see if it's worth it. Plus, the rates vary so you might not even be getting that great of a deal while on the job. I heard esurance can help answer your questions or may provide you that sort of insurance. But it's up too you whether it's really important or not. I just have your regular full coverage insurance, and am backed by Postmates "on the job" insurance if I really get into a pickle.

    Do you give the customer the receipts? Sometimes the app says do not give them the receipt, and I know the prices on the app are different for the customer than what we pay in person if using the prepaid Visa. Also, how does it make you feel when you can't leave a tip for the restaurant employee as they prep the food for these to go orders and we have to leave $0 on the tip line as we close out the order for the delivery? I apologize and say, "I'm sorry this isn't for me, it's a post mates order."

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I always give the customer receipts...not sure why it would say to not give them their receipts unless it's already a prepaid order. If it says not to give it to them I guess it's your choice whether you do or not...if you feel you should give them their receipts, I'd say just do it.
      And I am completely in the same boat as you! I have always felt a little guilty for not leaving a tip. But that's just part of the business i guess. Some restaurants charge up for postmates orders, thus, taking tips for themselves anyway. But most people know by now that postmates orders just dont tip.
      And, not to sounds a bit selfish, but they are getting paid for doing their job as employees. You just happen to be doing the delivering, which they would have to do if the customer came in to dine. So you do on some level deserve the tip. You are just finishing up the waitress/waiters job.
      So try not to feel to bad...I had always walked in and said order for Samone. from postmates. And when I'd call in the to go order I'd say this is a postmates to go order. Just so they'd know, it's not my fault I cant leave a tip! You are doing great though!!! 😁😁

      I usually try to write things off at the end of the year, to help me save more. You are an independent contractor. So they have you sign a 1099. It cam be a little tedious. That's why I like apps like mile IQ. That you can switch on when you're on the road and it helps you keep track of everything. And yes you do have to verify the age. I believe they make you scan the back of their IDs. To make sure. Haha

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      SEANA SPARKLE Really?? That's new! You used to be able to deposit in either, you'd just have to check which one it was. Did they let you redo you deposit situation?

    • @SeanaSparkleTV
      @SeanaSparkleTV 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ended up going back and forth with them for couple days in emails and they just kept saying the same thing to make sure it's a checking account. I just don't get why it doesn't say that right on the sign up page, because then if you go to the help page that's where it actually says that savings accounts will be rejected. But like know no ones gonna know that or think about going to the help page unless a problem happens when signing up! So I called my bank and set up a checking account, and since it's a different number it went through when I entered it. Just finally got verified and now I'm ready to go.

      Rebecca Mendez unfortunately, you just have to cancel it...which ducks. Just let the customer know what's going on...and if they have any problem, they can contact postmates on their end through email. And the you just have to cancel the order.

    Hey I just finished my first day for postmates. I started off with just three deliveries because it was starting to get dark out...I actually really liked it but I do have a question: Are you supposed to give the receipt to the customer or do you keep it? I took a picture of all the receipts and I had to use my prepaid card for all of them. When I got to my customer I wasn't even thinking to give it to them...does it matter or should I keep it because I used the card? Thanks so much this video was very helpful

    I've been a driver for Postmates for about a year in a half I let me tell you. When I started a made more money than now. I had since February with out working for them, I pick it up at the end of October. Lots has changed even the pay, before on a short trip was making a little more than 5 dollars, now it is only 4 dollars which is outrageous. I live in NYC and it takes me 30 to 45 minutes just to get to one place to another. Then to make it worse, when you driver more than 4 miles you still get less than 10 dollars. It really sucks, all this run around, blowing up your car for to make 5 or maybe 10 dollars in one hour in a half. Now we can even see our tips, wtf. Now you can't see the Damm tips, how the hell we going to know what actual tip we got. Bummeeeer!

      I'm not exactly sure honestly! There is such a high demand for food and liquor, that's what I delivered almost the entire time I worked with postmates. It was very rare I delivered something other than food. If you have a local mall, or an outlet area you can try sitting by there, and you may get a different order. But postmates is known for being able to deliver food from most select restaurants...😬🙃

But you must check there IDs before drop off. In some cases they may have you scan it. In order to deliver alcohol you have to have a carry a liquor permit at all times. I guess there is one you can print out from that link.

      Suzy Well Welcome to postmates love!! When I first started postmates I wasn't hitting it very hard like I did thus past year, I was kind if on and off about it, so I made about 6000 from when I started to tax season. I got about 700 back I believe, but don't quite remember how much I had to give. This year will be a lot better to answer those once I do my Taxes! I did postmates full time this past year!

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nicole McNeil Unfortunately postmates doesn't give you a physical pay stub. They do direct deposit! if you made less than 600 dollars with postmates then they won't send you a 1099 form, if you did they will email you a link to get your 1099 form for your taxes, to your email address you signed up with and use to sign in! :)

      Look into an app called Stride Tax. They are what I use for driving mainly Lyft, adding in Uber this past week, and soon Door Dash and Postmates maybe. The app is free and works great! BTW Sam, for taxes you can claim mileage OR expenses (gas, oil changes, car repairs, etc)... NOT both! Of course other customary business expenses can be written off, cell phone plan that is used exclusively for your business, or if you use your personal cell, you can deduct the percentage used for business. I would also assume anything else that is for your customers needs, like buying more hot bags, mints if you give them, etc

      I use the MileIQ app! Its free! But if you don't want to use a mile tracker than I usually save my gas receipts as well as, the day of tax day, I record my new mileage on my car, and at the end of the next year I also write down the amount of miles, subtract them and that's how many miles I drove that year, then I usually take another 15,000 to 18,000 miles off of the total for personal driving usage.

If there is ever a point that you just don't want to get out of your car, just request the customer come get it from you. So at least you can stay in your car. On the rare, you can cancel the order if its just to much! That's how I try to help make myself more comfortable.

    Can you do it in south Carolina?

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks like it isnt currently available in South Carolina, but maybe send Postmates an email about it. Let them know you are interested and wondering if they are going to open up a city to work in your town soon. They should respond within a few days.

    Is there a limit on how many hours you can work in a day?

    • @drinkswithmo
      @drinkswithmo  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No there isn't. It's just not a lot of people are up at 3 in the morning and not a lot of places are open usually. At least where I am from, so jobs and stuff are limited.

      Jae Beast unfortunately they have to clear you. You can get the fleet app and log in. But your card won't be activated and that won't send you any jobs until you're good to go!
