whats up Rex, dude i just wanted to say thank you. When I made the decision to come to prime I started watching your youtube videos and by the time i began my psd training (about 2 weeks ago now) i knew pretty much everything, even how to submit my paperwork through the app, i was on the truck for a week when my trainer and i routed here to springfield for me to test out (im actually a utah resident but theres way more training pads in springfield which made it easier to get some pad training in). Today i Trifecta'd my cdl exam and im beginning my tnt phase tonight hauling a load from here in springfield up to washington. your videos rock man, i hope to run in to you one of these days
I transferred to prime from another company and got a truck after orientation then dispatched. Didn't know anything about Prime so I had to learn everything on the go. The paperwork is very easy to scan and send. Got that with the first load. Using the navigation system on the qc was also easy. Know where ur going. Communicating with ur dispatcher thru the app is also easy. All this can be learned in one day yet we have people who still don't get it. Consider urself ahead of a lot of people. The hardest part is driving and navigating the truck and showing up at customers on time or early.
Been thinking about coming to prime to learn to drive CDL class trucks. The part that worried me was the driver trainer part as Iam a very quiet shy person that does not talk and not comfortable around people a lot but if could have Rex as I driver trainer would sign up right away. Just want to be shown the right way to do the job. Love the content sir!!!!!!!
Anyone can have me as their trainer you just have to put me down on your application as the driver who referred you. Prime will link your application to my truck.
I drove flatbed for Prime in 2013 it was a decent company did the PSd training to get my cdl again and PSD training. I thought about going tank before I came off the road for local work
It’s also against the DOT rules DOT requires you to turn around and climb out facing your truck because when they had it in Cabovers the old school trucks people with slip and land back first on the steps and break their back
11:01 No lie🤦🏾♂️, I can’t wait to finish tnt so I can get all my stuff in my truck, I’d much rather go to a Walmart & eat foods I’d eat at home, plus I like to cook anyway
Hey Rex, Pats Donuts on Elida Rd. in Lima has really good donuts and milkshakes. Not a big parking lot but there's some around there. East of Chicago has great wings. That Waffle House was a fun late night spot in college, haha. Be safe out there!
Hi Rex, I was wondering, how do you know where to set you fifth wheel , for balance on your axles. Have a great day. And thank for posting videos i am always learning, Sorry about the load someone took. Thats just sad and not right, but those people are out there . Keep trucking safe .
Every truck is a little different but when you are to heavy on your drives you’ll want to slide the 5th wheel forward towards your steers. Each notch is about 800lbs ish on my international
@@truckingwithrex Thanks Rex for the reply. Hope it's cool where you are been having 110 days here, crazy hot. Today I go for my permit. I feel good to pass. Have be blessed and family. Bro Rock
don t blame that team for stealing your load......your dispatchers don t know what there doing or got paid off to let those other guys take your load.....by the way....no parking spaces...means NOT ENOUGH WORK FOR EVERYONE......find something different...good luck
Hey Rex, since you e experienced both, have you noticed a difference in the freight availability as a company driver over a lease op? Seems like they run their company drivers more than lease ops, lease ops basically get the scraps. Maybe I’m wrong with that perception, but it does seem that way.
@@DinanBMWm5honestly I haven’t noticed a difference tbh 🤔 what I do know is prime tries to keep companies drivers deadhead miles down. They won’t admit this but when I deliver eggs now that I’m a company driver I’m sent to Verona MO but when I was leasing I always delivered to Spencer Iowa and had to deadhead all the way back to Springfield 🤔
Makes sense for them I suppose since they’re not paying lease ops for deadhead I’m assuming, where as a company driver I would assume they’d be paying for those DH miles. Either way I’m glad you’re keeping busy nonetheless, I just came back on the road after a 3 week break due to a blown motor on my truck. Good to be back and good to see you uploading more regularly.
Just had that waffle house last night. Worst part about Lima is I've had my trailer taken from me overnight after I wait all day for it, then I have to wait all over again for another one.
I go to prime on the 4th of September and I’ve got 8 years experience in reefer but after watching a few of your videos I might look into tanker. I’m going lease do you think tanker is more profitable or should I stay reefer?
I’ve never done reefer but my 1st year leasing with prime tanker I pulled 105k net year 2 I pulled 117k not bad money but you gotta work HARD to pull that kinda money 💰
Hi Rex, I really enjoy your videos but please forgive my ignorance. I don't know how their detention time works? I've seen other companies that pay detention after so many hours but a lot of them really don't say how much you will be paid. After you completed your 10 hours off at the shipper, are you automatically collecting detention pay until you start driving? I've never been an OTR driver. I retired earlier this year at 60 having been a tanker driver at a Teamster union represented company. Thank in advance and keep up the great work!
So rex this is in regards to ur video recently about drivers transferring from reefer to tanker. Why do you think they want to switch? As far as the trolls you say have nothing better to do well i do my trolling on my ten hr break. At least im being productive somehow. LOL!
Have question, u have been with Prime for sometime and have driven a variety of different manufacturers trucks , but all with Prime specific . Do u have a favorite ?
Freightliner was the best truck for making money as a lease driver. The Peterbilt was the smoothest ride and had all the bells and whistles however I had a lot of issues. Maybe I just got a bad truck 🤷♂️. For me I’ll take a freightliner as a lease driver all day!
Tells the customer he was late... then proceeds to tell the camera drivers need to pay attention to their appt times and dates. GUARANTEE prime gave that load to another driver when they knew he was gonna be late.
Prime 100% gave another drivers his load knowing he was gonna be late through no fault of his own. These company’s worry about their interests first no matter what they say.
It is the teams fault and the ispstchers fault and if this is what the cs drivers do to each other i would not want to work for prime cause they are giving the drivers the shaft letting their favorite drivers put it to the other drivers
They will give the load to whoever is gonna make them money now, and the drivers will take what ever load is gonna make them money now. That’s how it is with these companies.
how you making money with all the sitting waiting and washing tanks before after each load? one of the the other prime drivers said that reefer is where the money is . tanker and flat bed is primes bastard children they dont make much ...as compared to reefer. what is teh deal with that? and now with prime- you graduate training and you got go right to lease?
@@johnwolf1475 your paid detention! You can make money in any division. If I wasn’t making money I wouldn’t be working here! No matter who you work for you’ll have to wait or deal with taking a load back but your paid for it. 👍
What happened to the bee screens? How long will they stay cool in the tanker? Or does it flow better chilled and doesn't really matter once it's in? Everyone does it with teams, OO's and trainers. Dry vans and reefer Co's too. Especially when it's a drop and swap situation
Are male trainers able to train females or is that not possible ? I can understand why it might not be but I’m just curious . In the near future I want to apply to prime and I really want to be a tanker driver . It would be cool if you could train me . I’m not into men at all so no disrespect to your wife , thought that was worth mentioning .
It may vary from company to company. I think most companies will give the women the option to with a male. Both companies I’ve worked for gave them the options.
