So what can we actually put in this case Steve? Let me check, Newegg out of stock, Microcenter out of stock, Amazon out of stock. It's nice that we can get the case, it does seem like a nice case, but what's the point when we can't get anything to put in it? Is it good at keeping my cat warm?
I wish they tested GPU temps when the case is inverted and also tested the more common 6 or 9 fan setups that are usually done in such a case. The standardized test is a good way to compare performance but let's be real, in reality you will go with a completely different fan setup if you go with o11D.
I might be late with my comment, but I use this case in the inverted mode and my thermals are pretty good over my old fractal design case... But my test is not standardized. So... 🤷
Genuine attempts innovation like this should definitely be applauded. Maybe not necessary to chuck all your money at all the different parts, but does bring up fantastic ideas. How about cases with more customizability like being able to move around that front I/O wherever you want? Exciting ideas, especially if it ever trickles down into the mid-range market rather than this more extreme pricing.
@@theboldfuture2341 agreed. I've said it before, many times... it's easy to make a box, a lot harder to make a bad box... To make a box better for the design purpose? Just falls into place. This is a good thing, but it definitely is NOT the next new big thing. It's a linear progression that should've happened(did, just not for shelf-consumers) 20 years ago.
@@theboldfuture2341 I worded my comment poorly, my bad. I don't like the idea either, hence saying "maybe not necessary to chuck all your money at all the different parts" regarding basically "DLC" parts. In particular, I think that's a terrible practice for something that should be much more like the Silent Base 802 that gets frequently put into sponsorship slots (for good reason) with its choice of "sound dampening vs airflow". But, with the ideas from the Silent Base 802 and the O11D Evo, I think that much better ability for a user to interact with the design of the case is a fantastic idea. Having the _choice_ to have one's front I/O on the top, front, bottom, or side of a case or having the _choice_ to even do what Framework does and swap out what ports the I/O even is I think would be awesome. *And with it being built into the case from the get-go.* To make myself clear.
@@theboldfuture2341 If it would be included in standard, probably the MSRP would just be 20$ higher. It is 140€ in Germany which is something around 160$, only 10€ more expensive then the Mini and cheaper then all alternatives mentioned by Steve, so the extra 15€ is fine with me if I personally come to the conclusion that the performance of the (nicer looking) Glas front does not cut it for me. In this case, I am of the opinion that selling these addons extra is a good decision to keep base price comparatively low (though the 90 bucks for the standup GPU mount is a ripoff lol)
Agreed and I personally don’t think it’s that expensive given the flexibility and costs of stocking those parts. GPU prices make cases seem trivially cheap - when you have a $2500 GPU how can you complain about and extra $100 on some great add ons
I love that the glam-shots of the case are done after spending some time with the case, it shows how easily parts get dirty. I avoided aquarium cases for the longest time because i knew the glass would get fingerprints on it.
I have an O11XL and it's the best case I've ever owned. There's 3 regular fans on the side, 3 rad fans on the bottom, 1 regular on back and a 280mm rad on top. Due to so many fans and some that push a lot of air, they almost never ramp up except under huge load. Glad to see them pushing even further. Edit: and yes I hate that redundant latch on the top but hey, early adopter issues?🤣
I use an O11XL myself and agree, it is the best case I have ever owned. I can see this evo beating it in a water cooling scenario though if you can find a way to front mount the gpu with custom water block, maybe even still able to fit the front distro plate but probably too tight. Of course steve is still right, the pci extender cable looks like crap, maybe someone will event an rgb strimmer wrap lol.
I'd love to see an XL EVO variant. I don't have any problem with Lian Li EVO options and pricing. Frankly, for custom cases, it's a complete and utter waste to include fans .. I'd much rather see higher quality materials and/or reduction in price.
Honestly for that quality these are actually cheap. Lian Li cases used to be $300+. Economies of scale certainly played a role in the price drop but still, this is very competitive for what you get.
oh yes an XL sized Evo is very much a "take my money" as it is i may have to go with the Corsair 7000d airflow ive got a rog thor 1200 psu ryzen 5800x on a Asus Tuf gaming x570 pro wifi 2 mb and i want to top mount the EK aio elite 360 sumin tells me the 011d evo would give me issues trying to mount that aio on top with all 6 fans Edit: Big News th-cam.com/video/bPUWSBn4Fys/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this... I have an O11D purchased a little over a year ago, right before this came out. I'm in the middle of finally diving into the true liquid cooling realm, and purchased a bunch of EK goodies. Everything fits this case of what I already have (pre-rebuild prep time), and the information you provided made me realize this new variant was enough upgrades to swap (that mixed with being able to build out a new case while stripping the old). You all seem pretty chill as well, which is a nice touch to the overhyptastic feel of some other channels... More of a 'these are the details' kinda deal. Thanks again for being real.
Would love a revisit of this case with all fan slots filled. I think then we would have a good idea of what the true thermals would look like. Specially with the predictability of this being another very popular case among the pc enthusiast community.
Lol piss poor engineering, the cost out does the practicality… engineering is about efficiency and cost not how many accessories and positions you can move the junk inside. That’s called a gimmick. It’s like a vacuum blower chain saw drill. Doing too many things in one.
I wish more case manufacturers would do the one single front panel connector like NZXT has been doing for a while. I've done builds in three different cases (NZXT H510i, MainGear, and Corsair 4000D) and with the Maingear and Corsair cases I hated the Medusa that was the cables for the front panel stuff the most. Seriously, that one single connector changes your life and makes me upset that more expensive cases refuse to do that more.
On the other hand, these days I find the power and drive LEDs useless at best and annoying at worst, and leave them disconnected in all of my recent builds. Single connector would remove that option
@@Konzserwas Or you could make each chunk (power switch, LEDs) their own unified connectors instead of one big connector. That would save a lot of hassle too.
It's been a few years since I owned a Lian Li case, the last one being the PC70. When I originally saw this one...it gave me ideas on how I would transition my case from the floor to my desk. The O11 D Evo is the best case I have owned. I inverted it and added 6 140mm fans in top, left, and bottom locations. It solved heat issues I was having with my old case. It is also now the best looking setup I have had since my computer modding days (back when I was using the PC70). I am very happy with it.
I was thinking of buying this case and setting it up with 2 140mm fans at the front and bottom, a 360 radiator at the top and 1 120mm fan at the back. Maybe its just too much? Would I need any of the addons for all those fans?
@@thundergod97 what could I do with the default case? 1 120mm at the back, 2 140mm at the bottom, the 360 radiator at the top and maybe 2 140mm/3 120mm at the side? Thanks and sorry for asking too much 😅
@@frikisw You can mount either 120's (3) or 140's (2) on the top, side, and bottom with the included brackets. The radiator in the top I'm not sure about as I just don't use them in mine (air cooled 100%). Seems like a top mounted radiator in the default setup for the case (glass to the left, I have mine flipped, glass on the right) would work, but I don't think I'd try fitting one if you flipped the case. As it is my 140's up top impinge on my motherboard connections up there a bit....just not enough room for more than fans up at the bottom of how ever the motherboard is mounted.
There's a much easier and safer way to invert the case with a complete build inside it. Take the case off the baseplate, set it down next to the baseplate, pick up the baseplate, attach the baseplate to the top of the case, flip the case over(roll it if it's really heavy).
@@youtubevanced4900that would be a really cool design. Maybe do a bar across both top and bottom of the front and back. Then any time you could flip it and it would be done.
Yes, THIS is the review I've been waiting for! The 011D and it's many variants are the best cases money can buy, and this is just an EVOlution of that. And I gotta disagree with including the front mesh panel. The VAST majority of builders using this case are gonna water cool. I even air cool, and I wouldn't use the front mesh panel. Two glass panels just looks nicer, and the side air intake works just fine. 1:51 holy fingerprints Batman. At least get someone to go over it with a microfiber cloth before doing a beauty shot like that.
The thing with the mesh is that it can even benefit water cooling a lot. Someone with the O11 Air Mini put a 280mm rad in the front of it and got the best CPU temps they've ever had in a case. Typically the radiator is used as exhaust but it can be cooled better as an intake you just have to add supplementary intake fans elsewhere in the case to cool the rest of the components. 2 glass panels do look good but it's too much glass for me and yeah... fingerprints.😅 Since there isn't a bigger version of the O11 Air Mini (it's a bit different than the reg O11 Air and cools the CPU better as well) this O11 Dynamic Evo with the mesh front is basically it. I've been considering the Air Mini for a while but this Evo is looking like a slightly better option. Anyway just my opinion. Good day to you.
I bought this case and then had second thoughts about no fans, but I was very impressed with building within it. The power header connections all in one piece was the ultimate game changer for me.Definitely a quality of life improvement. Also got it for a few dollars less than what it was selling for back when Steve did this video.
Should do noise normalized tests for cases. I'd like to see which cases achieve good balance between decent air flow so fans don't spin too fast and make the noise but also have some sound dampening and some panels closed off to reduce the noise coming out when it is made.
He does include noise normalized tests, on all case reviews. But obviously it's a bit different in cases with no stock fans, because the thermals:noise is highly dependent on which fans you choose. Regarding the closed panels for sound dampening, Steve's take on it is that there is a place for it, but in general just turning fans low RPM on a mesh panel is better than cranking high RPM on a closed panel, because at least you have more headroom on a mesh panel.
Have you guys considered doing a "best case scenario" metric for case torture testing? Use every single available place for fans and using the best available fans, F12/14 or Noctua variants. I run the Mesh II with every fan spot full and it is obviously far better than standard case temp testing.
This would be great, but they won't do it because the vast majority of people aren't crazy people like you and I who will fill every fan slot and (if my guess is right on your behalf) replace stock fans with good fans.
They don't need to go full crazy on the fans, but I've been wanting them to do a "typical" setup test for years. It makes no sense, to me, to test a case with fan setups literally no one would ever use.
We have done this many times over the years. It's just not that simple - it doesn't exist. Every system build is different. I think we answered this in a methodology piece about standardized fans.
I REALLY like that upright position for the GPU. So much so, that I don't even mind the price for the mounting hardware. But the extension.. oh god, the extension. At least with a vertical mount, you can hide cables behind the GPU. But with that kind of PCI extension, it looks more like a cheap pre-built than anything.
this is so cool i could imagine a board that's made especially with this in mind. If they can swap the memory slots with a PCIe it could look pretty awesome.
I have an older MATX case from Thermaltake, Core v21 that has a similar component layout and strategy for Inverted builds. However since it is a cube, it can be oriented with the motherboard horizontal also. Downside, the clear panel is acrylic instead of TG. Upside It comes with 200mm front fan.
Innovative design and modularity demands extra dollars, that I can understand. Added to that this is certainly a very niche product so volume is small and tooling is expensive. It's not my cup of tea but I can see some people wanting this.
I love cases that support inverted builds. I have a Dark Base Pro 900 r2 that can be inverted but this is sooo much easier...you basically have to disassemble the entire case and remove the motherboard tray to invert the DB Pro. This is a much better solution.
14:58 "The numbers we're showing here are the up-to-date, corrected specs from the reviewer's guide, straight from Lian-Li." > Editor forgot to overlay the specs
@@ThePowerfox18 And now that you say that, I can actually hear the line being sung in my head. It should have been in quotes to make it more obvious it wasn't a literal statement, especially for those who would never get the reference.
I agree. The XL is the first Lian Li case I've owned - hell it was the first "premium" case I owned but the attention to detail and how nice it is to work with makes me really understand why their stuff is so expensive. The price tag stings but man is their stuff made well.
An O11D XXL EVO with 420mm radiator support would probably make me regret getting a Corsair 7000D airflow. Not that I think the 7000D is bad in any way. I love it. It’s just that the thought of having 3x140mm top and bottom creating a wind tunnel around my 3090 sounds really nice and if I mount motorized remote controlled wheels underneath, it would make for a nice improvised Roomba 😄
As someone who flipped my Dark Base Pro 900 at least 3 times now. Anything that improves on the 4 hour, spread-across whole-bedroom process is welcome!
Not really loving the rising trend of DLC on cases. Especially when it seems one of those "optional" choices appears to be holding airflow hostage. It doesn't matter as much here because of side intake but I get the sinking feeling we might see this become common place. Although, that might be my PTSD from gaming in general where the slippery slope isn't a hypothetical. It's a mega lubed, smoothed out slope and everyone is just itching to jump on.
It is cheaper for manufacturers to make a single case and instead of having a regular and airflow version of it you can just have a seperate airflow panel which the manufacturer sells separately since if most people only want the glass version then the manufacturer does not need to sell an airflow version and for those who do prefer the airflow they can just buy the airflow front panel (I am not saying its a good thing but this is one of the main reasons manufacturers do this)
That's one reason I'm going with the Torrent for my next build: not only is there no bullshit DLC, but the 5 giant fans that come included with the case (including 2 _super_ giants) are like the _opposite_ of DLC.
@@zahidshabir4038 I don't really care their reasons, what I'm afraid of it this being abused. All cases shipping with glass/solid front panels with no option for mesh on the initial purchase. Got to pay $20+shipping extra for the privilege of cooling your parts. Oh, look at that, I/O is a single USB-C port now and if you want more that'll be $20+shipping. More than a single 3.5" and 2.5" mounting option? $20+shipping please. They'll spin it as "convenience" and being pro-consumer. You only REALLY need airflow for high end builds and if you are building one of those you can afford $20 dollars, right? Who needs more than a single USB-C front panel connector in 202x? Front panel audio? What for? Why make customers pay for things they don't need! Who uses 3.5" drives? or more than a single 2.5" drive anymore with M.2 being a thing now. If you need those you're just a niche. We're just trying to keep the price of the case down as low as possible by providing only the barest of features that appeal to most people. What do you mean case prices are exactly the same as they were before we stripped out all those previously baseline features! Haven't you heard of inflation!
For anyone reading and worrid about thermals like I was with the Air Mini - IF YOU FILL THE FAN MOUNTS YOUR THERMALS WILL BE ICE COLD - with an AIO, and bottom fans, your CPU and GPU thermals will be insanely low. - I had an Air Mini with top exhaust 280 Arctic LFII, 140mm fans in front and bottom, with 120x2 as side exhaust and had a silent case with insane gpu and cpu thermals - currently have an Evo with 3x120 bottom intake, 3x120 top exhaust, and 280mm AIO as side exhaust, and although the backside of the 3090 isnt being cooled directly, and that backside memory sensor reads a few degrees higher, overall the GPU and CPU temps dropped, either due to more spaced components or fan config creating negative pressure vacuum chamber
I am using this case for a few months now and it's definitely the best case I ever owned. Would be nice if the air flow from the bottom would be a bit better, but besides that? Just perfect. My setup is a full water-cooled setup where I kept the glas front panel and use two 360 and two 120 radiators in the case (and an external 200mm radiator). This is a lot of surface to keep the GPU and CPU cool and the water at 40C max even under a high load while still being very, very quiet.
I see this news literally the day AFTER I ordered an 011D XL... THIS is the case I actually want- I run my system inverted and this addresses literally every gripe I have about the 011D with the sole exception of 420mm top rad support.
I see a lot of OG CaseLabs influence here. Reversibility, the modularity of the internal brackets, the panels, the hot swap bay, and the modular front IO have that same "build it your way" feel from CaseLabs, but appear to have a much more modern and refined design. Even the hefty pricetag and a la carte "extras" fit the mold! :)
I’d love to see the 011 D re-tested with standardized fans. And also with more fans; not many run it with only 3 fans, so it’s not the most useful metric for the potential user.
Right I've got 10 al uni fans. Was watching another review and saw the o11 way down the chart on thermals and wondered what was going on. Came to this video and found them running 3 fans. I see what their doing. But this test really isn't useful. Nobody buys this case and runs 3 fans.
Love your case reviews. I also love my two Lian Li Lancool II Meshes (one white, one black) that you convinced me were worth buying. I am one who would love to have more of your suggested case improvements be made into actual revisions by the manufacturers. Especially if you never make your own cases.
I went from CoolerMaster 12Evo HAF XB to Thermal Take 900 I have NOT regretted that decision. At first I didn't want to mouth the board with the back IO on top, Then I realized that sure helps the video card in the same way as motherboard being flat. Mine came assembled and none of the issues mentioned by GN after GN reviewed it. I like to check with GN and others before I buy.
It's tricky because that approach leads to much more waste, and a box in your garage with random pieces of stamped sheet metal that 10 years from now you don't remember what they're for. I have in my garage lian Li hard drive bays (didn't need them) reservoir mounting plates (i have air cooled) and other random plates and accessories that were produced and shipped to me. Meaning i paid for it, whether i wanted it or not, and the raw materials were consumed and carbon produced. For the people who don't think they're going to use the expensive dlc, they should probably just buy the dynamic, it's still great, and it's still on sale.
@@MichaelSotoCE They could also have done 2 versions where you either buy it with glass or mesh. And then have no waste as now if you buy the mesh you get a extra glass panel with nowehre to place
@@jorisjanssen2418 Exactly they know they can charge more for airflow so they do. Otherwise I don't see what they couldn't have the two options. If they care about the environment, they'd make the case out of tweed and shit
@@MichaelSotoCE Same here. When I received my XL, the first thing I did was strip it down and remove everything removable. Then I started working backward by re-attaching what I needed. The XL is already very heavy, and removing all the unnecessary parts helps reduce the weight of the case by a little bit.
Great content, thank you for having the specific professional knowledge on specs and quality others lack. I thought from the start that you either had to buy mesh or have no front panel but it is nice to see that they included the glass front, which is likely going to be the desired front option in the case at it’s price, and it is also likely the more expensive of the two. I always wish for most things to be included in a purchase BUT always better to have a less expensive case, with optional add on’s for those that want it, rather than include them all and make people pay for what they aren’t using. Great job to Lian Li!!
This channel should do more silverstone case reviews. The new Alta G1M is nothing short of incredible engineering, and a great evolution of the FT-03 it replaced.
I have the dynamic XL, I love that case and there is no better case on the market period. Unfortunately, while they did address a lot of the shortcomings, they skipped the ones I cared the most about. I still wouldn't be able to mount 420 radiators at the bottom, side or top and the back fan is still limited to 120. If they offered it, I'd replace my current XL straight away.
Soon as I saw Jay drop a review on this sucker, I hoped the king of case reviews would be on it. Sucks about the mesh add-on. In a perfect world, I'd have the _glass_ come extra. "Thanks, Steve!"
I still love my O11 XL. Its so convenient to just unlatch the top plate, sliding it off and being basically one grab away of every component. Really easy to maintain and build with case.
I like having the more modular approach where you can buy what you need instead of being sold to the entire kit of goods for an extremely expensive price.
I'll be on the lookout for any special editions of this case. I ordered the PCMR O11D the day it was offered (months before I was ready to build in it). I love the features here, but something similar to the PCMR O11D just to set it apart visually would make it PERFECT!
I like the fact that additional parts are sold separately, if only because it will generate less landfill waste from giving parts out that the user may never end up using. Less waste is always good in my book and I don't mind paying a little extra for that. I do wish the prices were a little lower OR they gave an option when ordering to pick and choose what parts to have included for a bundled price (With some savings).
Not if it's parts you actually need to build it. Nickel and diming a customer isn't a way to keep a customer. For this kind of pricing it really should come with a few fans at least.
I'm sure Lian Li having all this extra case dlc was because they wanted as many people as possible to get it and see if it is worth bringing into the mid range
Thanks Steve, just got my large mod-mat and couldn't be happier with the quality. Even the shipping to Australia was pretty quick! Keep up the good content.
Thorough as ever. Wouldn't mind you guys taking a look at the Silverstone Alta G1M if you could get your hands on one - looks like a proper return to the old FT03.
I would like to see how this case performs thermally with all fan slots filled. They've show cases before that have loads of fans yet are still terrible. So it'd be interesting to see if it's beneficial to install all those extra fans or more of a gimmick. Or even just keep installing fans to see what the most optimal configuration is. If you're already spending this much on a case you're probably not worried about spending a bit extra on some fans.
Would love to see this as well! Most builds I've seen fill these cases with nine fans. I'd love to see the thermals for that upright GPU configuration vs standard position with all those fans running
Great review! I found the details very useful. I wanted to respond to one of your comments about the lack of fans, as this case's versatility is what drew me to it, and I don't like the style of Lian Li's over priced fans. If your point is that for having no fans, it should be a bit cheaper (which I think is what you're saying), I can totally get behind that! I think they intended to give the builder the option of choosing whatever fans they prefer as a intended design point. Thanks again for the great analysis!
I still remember and kind of miss a gaming computer from DELL I once had. It was the XPS720 with the BTX motherboard "standard". I remember it being a beast after the free mobo upgrade and it sure sounded like a jet engine of a sort when booting up. I mean, it might have been a freaking heavy computer in terms of weight but not only did the inside look cool hence it kind of was inverted because of the board layout, it also provided great cooling if not the the best air cooling compared to the ATX boards at this time. Wish Intel would have kept it alive and force pushed it onto the global market. Might be expensive to build but where cooling becomes so important nowadays, they might as well just bring it back. Well, I have just ordered the Lian Li 011 Dynamic Evo for exactly those nostalgic moments. Can't wait.. Yaaay!
So happy with my 5 car garage of a case. I got the black o11 Dynamic Evo with 7 Case fans and corsair 240 aio on top. Its quiet and very cool for the power inside. Its very quality and has Plenty of room to park more cars lol(expand/upgrade)
@@Lishtenbird yea I can't even use the current SSD cover, between the 9 RGB fans with two cables each and a extra long high end PSU, there's no space, I'll take any compromise at this point,
Because my use case is very particular (Very much want the reverse design because of placement in my space). And being on the hunt for a new case for a currently air cooled system (might eventually move up to water cooling in a future time). Glad I stopped by to see your thoughts on this one. Thank you for the info and It's very much the case I'll probably get.
"Tried so hard" "It didn't even matter" lol love the Linkin Park references. Even managed to fit "Given Up" in the mix, which is one of their best tracks. RIP Chester
People massively over estimate the effects of convection... It's very weak compared to even low rpm fans unless you have a gigantic heatsink designed specifically to encourage it
This test is interesting at best. Comparing data across multiple models with a standardized fan configuration yields minimal functional conclusive data. Although the resources required would be significantly increased, a test utilizing a standardized fan brand/model line in conjunction with a case model’s maximum fan allocation would provide consumers with data that could be used to make comparisons when selecting a case model, ultimately resulting in lower thermals. Thanks for sharing the test, and if anyone has any objections to my suggestion, please share. Thanks again, Gamer’s Nexus. You all rock.
had this come out a few months ago i would buy this one. i have corsair 5000d which i think is good case. it's been great if corsair had made it so this too. it's great option for the customer and adds value. i think lian li should have an option however to come with or without the mesh. i wouldn't want the glass front imo.
I'm between the 5000D and the O11 Evo. I was going to get the 4000D, then saw that the 5000D had some improvements, although a bit larger in size. Then I saw that the O11 Evo was indeed still coming out, so decided to wait. I really like the O11 Evo, but there are things I like about the 5000D too. I just don't like the top mounted I/O on the Corsair case since I keep my PC on my desk
funnily enough, my build idea had the gpu mounted there, im so glad lian li, despite having to pay for it implemented that feature and the builds are gonna look sick
I bought the original O11 case and was surprised my Hyper 212 was too Big I thought a case this large would accept any cooler I should have researched Better Keep up the good work
I already bought a $200 Phanteks Evolv X that I loved, but still regretted and ended up getting a $200 O11D-XL, and now you’re making me want to get yet a THIRD $200 case…
Would have loved to see the mesh panel included in the box but I guess that's my biggest issue. Now I just want these changes implemented in the XL variant. I built my system in the original O11 then gave that case to a friend and got the XL which I personally enjoyed building in way more. I'm sure that's on the horizon given all of Lian Li's recent case mounts
The front adjustable fan brackets is a trend I hope more case manufacturers pick up for front mounted fans. My Meshify 2 Compact is unbearably noisy with 140mm intake fans due to the turbulence caused from the 120mm mounting brackets in the front of the fans.
To make this case badass you'll have to purchase 1 120mm fan for exhaust, 2 140mm fans for intake AND the mesh kit. Pain in the a$$ and expensive - but end result is satisfying.
I think that price is pretty reasonable for a case. I've never minded paying that much for the exterior of my machine. Of course, it's internal layout is extremely important, but you have to look at it for years. If it fits my required needs for the parts I am using efficiently, safely, and within reason, my only other requirement is I fall in love with how it looks. I'm going to be looking at it for years until my next build. I'd pay $200-$300 for a case. I've never found a case above those prices that I have absolutely fallen for, but I would pay it if I did.

I wish they tested GPU temps when the case is inverted and also tested the more common 6 or 9 fan setups that are usually done in such a case. The standardized test is a good way to compare performance but let's be real, in reality you will go with a completely different fan setup if you go with o11D.
9 why not 10 fans ?
I might be late with my comment, but I use this case in the inverted mode and my thermals are pretty good over my old fractal design case... But my test is not standardized. So... 🤷
Genuine attempts innovation like this should definitely be applauded.
Maybe not necessary to chuck all your money at all the different parts, but does bring up fantastic ideas. How about cases with more customizability like being able to move around that front I/O wherever you want?
Exciting ideas, especially if it ever trickles down into the mid-range market rather than this more extreme pricing.
I actually stopped watching at "$20 add on mesh front panel"
Selling case functionality that should be standard as DLC is an immediate turn-off.
And dust... a bloody nightmare to make look good especially when the sun shines in. :'D

Not as big of a channel, but Christopher Flannigan did a complete review of thermals with fans and AIO's in pretty much all configurations.
@@gilmer3718 Thanks!
I love the engineering put into this! This is what more cases should be like.
And there is such a thing as "over-engineering".
@@stevenv2190 and that's not what the O11 D Evo is (yes I know you never said that but I'm just pointing it out)
Lol piss poor engineering, the cost out does the practicality… engineering is about efficiency and cost not how many accessories and positions you can move the junk inside.
@@Konzserwas wire cutters add it back in

@@frikisw you'd need the mesh front add on to put the fans in front, but otherwise I think you should be good to go with the default case.
Or just put the whole thing on your desk upside down. To each his own
Yeah really seems like you could just have screw on feet with holes on top and bottom for them.
@@youtubevanced4900that would be a really cool design. Maybe do a bar across both top and bottom of the front and back. Then any time you could flip it and it would be done.
Already starting strong in the category of mechanical design for 2022.
Did this guy really bring back Hybrid Theory era Linkin Park into this review? You rock Steve.
Add windex to the X-mas list ;)
Now your loved ones can appreciate your computer's LEDs while also saving your fingerprints in case you go missing
I have a better life than mr windex over here. Haha
Enjoyed the Linkin Park cameo.
Using all the potential of the cases it would be better for temperature testing. GN could change that for 2022 testing.
I'm curious if you have a PCI Express 3.0 motherboard, if you can use a longer riser cable and run it behind the board.
@@TheNiteNinja19 you can
this is so cool i could imagine a board that's made especially with this in mind. If they can swap the memory slots with a PCIe it could look pretty awesome.

I'm so stoked for this case to arrive.
I bought this case and I absolutely love it. Barring compatibility issues I'm probably going to use this case for 10-20 years across multiple builds
Combining all front panel cables into a single one is a massive W.
Nzxt does this with the h1 as well
Innovative design and modularity demands extra dollars, that I can understand.

As someone who flipped my Dark Base Pro 900 at least 3 times now. Anything that improves on the 4 hour, spread-across whole-bedroom process is welcome!
Steve thinks we going to miss the Linkin Park references sprinkled in there 07:00?

Man, imagine you could get a mainboard with pcie connectors on the back. This would look so good.
For anyone reading and worrid about thermals like I was with the Air Mini - IF YOU FILL THE FAN MOUNTS YOUR THERMALS WILL BE ICE COLD
- with an AIO, and bottom fans, your CPU and GPU thermals will be insanely low.
- I had an Air Mini with top exhaust 280 Arctic LFII, 140mm fans in front and bottom, with 120x2 as side exhaust and had a silent case with insane gpu and cpu thermals
- currently have an Evo with 3x120 bottom intake, 3x120 top exhaust, and 280mm AIO as side exhaust, and although the backside of the 3090 isnt being cooled directly, and that backside memory sensor reads a few degrees higher, overall the GPU and CPU temps dropped, either due to more spaced components or fan config creating negative pressure vacuum chamber
The multiple LP song references were spot on!
That scratched up 5950X made me cry a little bit in that evga ad. Great review. I kinda want a O11 EVO now.
Yeah I've got 6 in mine plus an exhaust on the top
Right I've got 10 al uni fans. Was watching another review and saw the o11 way down the chart on thermals and wondered what was going on. Came to this video and found them running 3 fans. I see what their doing. But this test really isn't useful. Nobody buys this case and runs 3 fans.
This case hyped me up so hard that I actually pre-ordered
Nice one. Makes me wonder why they didn't go for a 6mm hex mesh instead, the airflow is probably about twice as good
They probably went with a finer mesh with the idea that you won't need filters
Love your case reviews. I also love my two Lian Li Lancool II Meshes (one white, one black) that you convinced me were worth buying. I am one who would love to have more of your suggested case improvements be made into actual revisions by the manufacturers. Especially if you never make your own cases.
I went from CoolerMaster 12Evo HAF XB to Thermal Take 900
I have NOT regretted that decision.
At first I didn't want to mouth the board with the back IO on top, Then I realized that sure helps the video card in the same way as motherboard being flat.
Mine came assembled and none of the issues mentioned by GN after GN reviewed it. I like to check with GN and others before I buy.
When I buy a Case, I want the whole case. Not having to buy DLC for it!

Really wish the GPU mount was included :(. Love the case overall though. Will stick with my original 011 for now
This channel should do more silverstone case reviews.
00:30 and thats the greatest praise i remember Steve giving to a case.
The engineer that came up with the invertion method deserve a bonus :)
Lian Li is the only hardware manufacturer still innovating. Strimer cables, Uni fans, and now this.. pretty slick.
I like having the more modular approach where you can buy what you need instead of being sold to the entire kit of goods for an extremely expensive price.
the cat knows how to look great.
This might be the first actual worthy successor of my over a decade old Antec 300 case. It really seems like an improved spiritual successor.
Steve throwing in all kinds of song references lately haha
Finally, a modern inverted(able) case. Thanks LianLI. Great review GN
Thanks Steve, just got my large mod-mat and couldn't be happier with the quality. Even the shipping to Australia was pretty quick! Keep up the good content.

This case is astonishing!
And the linkin park quotes while talking about cable management almost made me cry!
Cool video - might be interesting to do a follow up video with recommended ways to use all the different variations?
Am I the only one who chuckled at the (probably) unintended Linkin Park reference?
Lian Li keeps making winners. Can't wait to see some sweet watercooling builds in these new configs.
Yaaay!
we tried so hard... in the end it didn't even matter.
I understood that reference.
So happy with my 5 car garage of a case. I got the black o11 Dynamic Evo with 7 Case fans and corsair 240 aio on top. Its quiet and very cool for the power inside. Its very quality and has Plenty of room to park more cars lol(expand/upgrade)
Loving the new studio!
Im actually so happy there is more cable space even if its harder to use, that's been my only issue with the original
And for most owners of such a case, that space will be easily filled with RGB hubs.
RIP Chester
Nice LP reference, Steve! :)
A blower cooler would actually perform well in that since it's exhausting straight out the top like a chimney.
except fans on blower cards run at like 4k rpm and no wants a jet engine in their case
Who wrote that Linkin Park reference in at 7:03 sneaky ;)
Those Linkin Park puns got me waiting for the end, so I could listen to some music 😅
funnily enough, my build idea had the gpu mounted there, im so glad lian li, despite having to pay for it implemented that feature and the builds are gonna look sick
I bought the original O11 case and was surprised my Hyper 212 was too Big I thought a case this large would accept any cooler I should have researched Better Keep up the good work
I already bought a $200 Phanteks Evolv X that I loved, but still regretted and ended up getting a $200 O11D-XL, and now you’re making me want to get yet a THIRD $200 case…
i want my gpu sticking out on the top of the case like a mowhawk
Would have loved to see the mesh panel included in the box but I guess that's my biggest issue. Now I just want these changes implemented in the XL variant. I built my system in the original O11 then gave that case to a friend and got the XL which I personally enjoyed building in way more. I'm sure that's on the horizon given all of Lian Li's recent case mounts
I leave my glass side panel off a lot but I'd love to have a mesh front on my XL
sell it to your friend for $80 then get evo makes it even lol
