I know on my cx, that out of game mode, with allm on, too much latency compared to game mode. So your saying that you can get the color saturation back and have the same level of latency as game mode on the c4? There must be a difference in lag out of game mode.
I had a 65 A80J and recently returned my C3. It was definitely brighter but the A80J had better screen uniformity (no colour tinting) upscaling motion (if you like a lot of motion smoothing the lg will be better because it has less artifacts with high levels of Interpolation), preservation of detail and the menu/os was much faster.

Does this mean right now the c4 has better colour volume then the g4 or are your specific calibration at play? I don't remember him finding a mode where the g4 was particularly better that way while you found the opposite result with the c4 vs s90d.
Would the improvments to C4 also apply to the 42 inch, or are they linked to the increased brightness that only applies to the larger sizes? Looking to get a c3 or c4 as a monitor but it's really hard to find info about the differences at 42 inch size.

42" Sony A90k and 42" LG C4 are now the same price (LG is $100 more). I can imagine the C4 edges it out in brightness, as did the C3, but what about sharpness and detail? Is the processing in the A90k still better since the C4 didn't get the a11 chip? I'm still debating between them even though the A90k is 2 years old.

Classy! Hope all is well. I'm torn. I have a 42C2 i use for work and gaming. I was thinking of upgrading to a 32" QD OLED monitor (one of the 2024 models). Then I started thinking of perhaps using a 55" Samsung QD OLED. Then I was thinking maybe that is too big. With this video, im thinking of swapping the 42C2 to a 42C4. Or even to the 48C4. What i like about the C series - 4 x hdmi 2.1 ports, glossy screen, dolby vision, apps built in. The QD Oled monitor has a bit higher peak brightness, better color luminance, higher refresh rate, a bit more comfortable screen size. The QD OLED tv would be the brightest, high color luminance, but I'd be about 3 feet away (if gaming, i could probably scoot back but while working, id be about 3-4 feet from the screen). Hmm. Or just stay with the 42C2? Help!
I had similar considerations, and 42C4 is the best overall option. The monitors are not actually brighter either, they only measure 1k nits in tiny window sizes and the APL luminance is lower

It could be that because the S90D sells both WRGB and RGB panels, Samsung was applying a common tone mapping mode for both types of panels, and that this tone mapping was more oriented to the characteristics of the lower WRGB and that is why in a panel RGB with higher brightness and color volume specifications, is the applied tone mapping excessively aggressive?
Geez, the G4 should kill the QD oleds this year, if this is any indication. I thought the S90D would smoke the C4. Maybe if it's in it's brightest and not accurate mode, it will look better for most?

I think the colours on the Samsung look more natural, my only issue is the sizes tend to have different tech, I'll only need a 42 inch telly and LG have the same tech in their entire range whereas Samsung don't, different panels and chips for different sizes
presumably due to the extra m/s of input lag, but what none of the reviewers are telling us, last year or this year (that I have seen anyway), is what the actual m/s difference in lag is between game mode and other full colour luminance modes. Will it even make any difference to the average gamer?
LG finally upped their game with the C series, eh? They weren't available in Canada when I was looking to buy, so I went with the S90D thanks to the crazy good deal I got on it. I did a pixel refresh after about a week of using it, and haven't noticed too much of a difference. It's not by any means terrible, but it's noticeable, and I don't want to crank up shadow detail to much if I can avoid it. Any recommendations on how to possibly remedy this issue?
I have a LG CX for 4 years now and wanted to upgrade. I can't decide which to upgrade, the 95c or the S90d. I don't want to go with LG this time because of the banding in colours and woled screen is not as colourful as qd oled. Which one would you recommend?

Rather go for the g3 or wait for a price drop on the g4 rather :D
Wow the c4 is looking really good this year, great video well done.
Thanks
Youre welcome😁✌️ greetings from polish guy from Scotland🏴
Are you 100 percent sure this s90d has the QDOLED panel?
very unlikely. he didn't state the sizes. that would have cleared it up but im pretty sure it's a woled panel and not the qd oled
@@alcidescollins9126that’s the only thing that could justify these results.
7:25-7:32 he specifically says its a qd-oled.
After owning my C1 for years now, i can't see myself buying anything other than a C series again. Went to my local target and saw a C3 blow away everything else on the wall(including the Sonys).
They just have this clarity to them, its like looking through a clean window. All other TV's look dirty by comparison. This is the first time I've ever developed brand loyalty.
How does the C4 compare to the G2.
Did lg refine their filters to allow better brightness out of their rgb subpixels? I mean, how are they doing this? Spectacular.
Good morning Classy!
What would you rather get 65” g3 or the c4?
G3 still better than C4
I know on my cx, that out of game mode, with allm on, too much latency compared to game mode.
So your saying that you can get the color saturation back and have the same level of latency as game mode on the c4? There must be a difference in lag out of game mode.
Great comparison, what would be best oled to watch your video on TH-cam 4k/1080 on PC ?
Do the Samsung OLED panels come from LG Display?
Depends…if it is QDO, it’s a Samsung Display panel/tech. If it’s a WRGB OLED (new this year in Samsungs line up) it’ll be a LG Display panel/tech.
Can you do a settings video for the C4 please?
Classy, I still have a 77” A80J . Would it be an upgrade to get the C4 ?
I had a 65 A80J and recently returned my C3. It was definitely brighter but the A80J had better screen uniformity (no colour tinting) upscaling motion (if you like a lot of motion smoothing the lg will be better because it has less artifacts with high levels of Interpolation), preservation of detail and the menu/os was much faster.
I have the same tv. I'm still hanging on for another year or two. You can probably compare the two on Rtings but I don't think there is enough in it to justify getting a new tv atm.
Will your S90c settings work for the S90D or are you going to do settings for the S90D?
Which one should we buy on Black Friday? C4 or S90D????
Dynamic Tone Mapping On = C4 is brighter than S90D in HDR?
I currently have the s90d 77-in. I was thinking about taking it back and replacing with the QN90D 85 in which one should I get. I am in the living room with light controlled environment. The only thing I will do is watch movies, TV shows, a little bit of news, no video games. Is the QN90d black levels almost the same as the s90d would I be disappointed with the QN90d.
@ClassyTechCalobrations Oh No! Something just happened to my S90C and I had to exchange for S90D, which means I had a pay a little bit more money.
Did I make a bad choice? Is the S90D inferior to the S90C??? I feel sick. If you could, please let me know your thoughts so I can cancel the order if need to be.
You should be ok.
Crazy never expected that. How do both tvs compare to the S90C because i would pick one up literally right know if it's worth it. It's discounted and my C3 is getting sent back tomorrow (can't stand the colour tinting). Would really appreciate your advice. Use case is watching content/gaming (70/30)
At this point I would recommend the S90C/S89C, especially for the lower prices.
Thanks a lot. Is there a possibility for the S90D to be fixed with a firmware update. And does the S90C still beat the C4 in brightness and colour luminance/saturation. Sorry for bothering just want to make a well informed purchase 😅
@@bilalbiriri6596 yes they could change it in firmware. I would be concerned about them breaking something else in the process but if not, then it could get better.
I'll try to compare the S90C to the C4 when I'm back from vacation later this month.
@@ClassyTechCalibrations Got you. Thanks a lot for the help. 👍
The C4 is 💣
@ClassyTechCalibrations Great vid, thank you so much for your work! I am eagerly awaiting an S90D calibration vid.
Just got 77 s90d and Fak man the picture is crazy good, I haven’t calibrated anything just yet. But out the box this tv is really good. I saw s90d, a80l and g3 I kept coming back to s90d overall so I bought it. The lg clipping is bad, I’m sure you can adjust it.
Is it just me or does the image of the S90D appear SLIGHTLY blurry/less crisp when displaying motion in the video when compared to the C4?
Can you please do a review of the C4 vs the S90D at 48" where they use the same panel? Thanks.
Is the c4 still more colorful when both are in standard and vivid mode? Samsung probably purposely kept the colors muted on the accurate modes to make the tv look more accurate. Also using the color booster setting may increase the saturation on the samsung.
@classytechcalibrations would you guess that most of the comparisons and conclusions here regarding S90D vs C4 applicable when comparing the S90C 2023 77" QD OLED to the C4? Is the C4 a big upgrade over S90C?
could be hgig the problem in game mode? what if you set dtm to off and rolloffpoints to 100%?
KG just put out a long comparison of the s90d vs g4. He mentioned a couple times how the non gaming color brightness of the s90d was superior but the g4 whites were better while going through the modes. Does this mean right now the c4 has better colour volume then the g4 or are your specific calibration at play? I don't remember him finding a mode where the g4 was particularly better that way while you found the opposite result with the c4 vs s90d.
It’s a shame LG didn’t put the Alpha 11 chip in the C4.
Right, the C-series would almost be too good with MLA/new processor
It actually makes sense because the models were very similar
@@beammeupscottsp7952 your describing a g4 at that point dude lol
@@polishdude001 haha yeah at least put one of the two
Would the improvments to C4 also apply to the 42 inch, or are they linked to the increased brightness that only applies to the larger sizes? Looking to get a c3 or c4 as a monitor but it's really hard to find info about the differences at 42 inch size.
Hi! I watched your stream on LG G4 calibration, where it was mentioned that it has an always active sharpening that can't be turned off. Could you, by any chance, kindly say whether that's also the case with C4?
Hello, I would appreciate it if you could answer, I wanted to buy the S90D 65, but Samsung has not yet launched it in this size in Brazil, and it is also not shipping to my state because of the floods that occurred, the S95D in partner stores is very expensive, I'm in doubt between LG G3 or S90C?! both with great prices
When u compare g2 vs c4 do you think that they perform similar regarding picture quality and brightness ?
@ClassyTechCalibrations When using On the C4 Tone mapping Off with professional turned on do you put all three sliders at 100?
Thanks a lot
Great comparison video. Surprised by c4. Classy, as a monitor 42 inch size comparing c2 to c3, is the c2 just as good as c3 for use as a PC monitor? Thanks
C2 42 is perfect, i have fixed that absl auto dimming thing from a reddit tutorial and it's perfect, i also have x82l 75 and x90l 75 and nothing comes close to oled....
Awesome work. Quick question...Does the wall mount of the G2 fit the G4
Wow that’s incredible the C4 looks well more impressive the game mode sure is lacking but if can use filmmaker mode on games for same brightness and colour that’s perfect 👌 so instead me setting 800nits for HGIG HDR game mode, I use 1000nit on HDR outside game mode not 4000nit or until all blocks have same brightness? Thanks also can this be used on the C3 4:39
Did they nerf the s90d?
Oh damn!! G4/C4 Black Friday plus ps5 pro this year 😎

@@Kivancli79 sameeee. I was set on G4 thinking the C4 wouldn’t be an upgrade but classy is saying it’s the biggest upgrade since the C7 damn 😅
Same C4/PS5P all the way
@@RipYaHeadOff Usually prices come down a bit after 3 months for the "C" models ... by BF it should be around $400/500 off the original price. I am guessing the PS5 Pro is going to be somewhere between $550 and $600/650 tops ... dont think Sony is going to ask like $700 for the Pro, that would be ridiculous. So by BF, in November, an C4 55 inch + a PS5 Pro should be around $2000, maybe a bit less with some discounts here and there. Prices are different between the U.S. and Europe. Anyhows, we ll see!
So the samsung S90C and the S90D - 77" are both on sale here in Australia. S90C is a guaranteed QD-OLED whereas the S90D has the whole panel lottery with high chances of it being WOLED. Which one should I get?
Lg G4
@Polarbearden too expensive
Game mode in sdr? Super dim like the c3 or worthwhile improvement ?
Can you give us the picture settings for the s90d please?

Why comparing lg's Cinema home mode to fmm?

Why didn't you show proof of settings before?
Do you ever share your picture setting's? I just got the s90d and am looking for setting's. Thank you!!
My s95b. And s90c. Both developed silver dead spots on panel , this is all in under a year. The coating on all these is defective and matter of time , one has to look at screen closely
I think i saw a TH-cam video that the s90d is panel variation. You may get a qd-oled made by samsung or a woled made by lg and no matter the size. I would say you have a woled s90d as the c4 shouldn't be able to be better. Maybe you can zoom in to the pixels to see the structure then you know for sure which panel you got.
No, all 55/65 that are released in North America are QD OLED. It was definitely verified as a QD OLED.
It's a weird situation then, the s90c looked much better compared to a c3 in the store and on the videos online
@@Mile91903 yes, S90C was better than C3.
The change in tone mapping could be changed in a firmware update on the S90D so we'll see what happens later on. Who knows if they will break something else if they do that though.
@@ClassyTechCalibrationsdid you check the pixel structure?
So which one should I buy
S90C or C4 (+$350) ? And why? Can you confirm that the Samsung has better motion processing with less artifacts? If you put trumotion to 10 does it still create alot artifacts? Thank you man
So are these 48 tvs BOTH with woled because I've seen the s90d in person compared to the c4 and it definitely doesn't look like this
It could be that because the S90D sells both WRGB and RGB panels, Samsung was applying a common tone mapping mode for both types of panels, and that this tone mapping was more oriented to the characteristics of the lower WRGB and that is why in a panel RGB with higher brightness and color volume specifications, is the applied tone mapping excessively aggressive?
Could be. Seems like they screwed up this tv this year.
Geez, the G4 should kill the QD oleds this year, if this is any indication. I thought the S90D would smoke the C4. Maybe if it's in it's brightest and not accurate mode, it will look better for most?
Don't be so sure. I think Samsung gimped the s90d to create a clear and bigger separation between it and s95d. The s90c was basically as good as the s95c. As was the s89c
@@shpankeyI actually think the S90D is better than the S95D because it doesn’t have the matte finish.

I want a triple display simracing setup and torn between C4 42 inch or the new 32 inch QDOled 240hz displays. Worried the brigtness/reflections of the new QDoleds bouncing of each other will grey out the black. Are my worries justified?
42" size would be amazing for immersion in a racing sim
I think the colours on the Samsung look more natural, my only issue is the sizes tend to have different tech, I'll only need a 42 inch telly and LG have the same tech in their entire range whereas Samsung don't, different panels and chips for different sizes
Does the S90D use AI upscaling..would've that be better than LG C4's processing?
Is it worth buying a Samsung s90d or is it better to buy a Samsung s90c at a lower price.
im ready
Why not use cinema mode like hdr in c4 sdr games??
presumably due to the extra m/s of input lag, but what none of the reviewers are telling us, last year or this year (that I have seen anyway), is what the actual m/s difference in lag is between game mode and other full colour luminance modes. Will it even make any difference to the average gamer?
LG finally upped their game with the C series, eh? They weren't available in Canada when I was looking to buy, so I went with the S90D thanks to the crazy good deal I got on it. I do remember you mentioning that your S90D was crushing black a bit in the early stages of you having it, and it looks like I'm having the same issue.
S90C is my main recommendation.

Classy, your technical videos are excellent. Newbie question - Can some firmware updates impact a calibrated picture, thereby negating the benefit of a professional calibration? Thanks.
welp, even the C4 STOMPS Samsung this year in terms of clarity and depth. I expected more out of the S90D here, but probably QTV was overhyping it.
Or lg just had a bigger gun
Most of us have expected the S90D to be better than the C4. The S90D is actually worse overall than last year’s models in terms of performance and accuracy. A few tweaks in the service menu as well as calibration and you have a better set than the S90D. I know we all talked about firmware updates gimping Samsung TV, but it’s already held back out the gate.
QTV is a joke
@@icemanandbobtechandgamingHow do you know this? Did you measure the color accuracy yourself?
@@verttisyrjala2897 Yes, I am a hobbyist calibrator and have the means to do so. The S90D does not perform better than last year’s models across the board. In a few areas of measurement yes, but not in real world content. Btw, measurement numbers are meaning less and less in terms of actual content, this is why we don’t speak or show it as much anymore. One set will measure higher and perform worse, be less bright, and etc in real world content.
Why does both tv's keep showing Samsung at the top right?
