    I have some sort of red (melon?) sword in my pond. The plant is potted in dirt and I planted it last summer. It did all the awesome stuff like flowering and sending off new plants. This thing is so insanely hearty that it survived the pond freezing over!

    Ludwigia rubens, dwarf lily, ammannia gracilis (slow growing and more intermediate than beginner plant) and Crypts but they are more brown than red usually.

    I've got a Barclaya longifolia red bulb planted in a dirted tank and initially it sent up some really nice red leaves, but they were really thin/floppy and fell off. The new growth that's replaced it is green and still doesn't have much rigidity. The leaves don't stand up but Iay flat against the substrate. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks.

    • @danieltallon85
      @danieltallon85 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@angiebear8727 I planted the bulb a little deeper to see if it helped the leaves stand up. I had a feeling it would fix or kill it, and sadly the bulb rotted and died. It probably was a low light issue.

    • @ShinyGoldBacon
      @ShinyGoldBacon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it needs more light. I have mine in a deep tank, and it doesn't turn red until it gets up near the surface. The top of the stems develop bigger, redder leaves.
      I think iron deficiency is shown by yellowing.

My moss had been doing quite well for several years but about a month ago all of my moss began to die. This has happened in 16 aquariums. Some of the tanks are located on the first floor and some on the second floor. Nothing different was done with the tanks and no chemicals were added. Any ideas?

    Sadly to say, I kill all my rotala rutondifolia/indica I whenever planted them, but yeah, I never experienced melting with crypt..Ever!!! I've gotten a three types of these beautiful crypt plants I think crypt Wendtii red, brown, green and crypt Parva and another one is(nah, I forgot the name😄) but no melting at all. I really bought a lot of these for my 15 gallon tank and fill it to the brink as the middle ground plant.(and put Vallisneria spiralis and vallisneria torta species as background and some ludwigia repens to the side plus dwarf sag and aleocharis in the front and some attached some java fern and java moss to the hardscape) but yeah, no Melting t all from the crypts, I only cut very few of the broken leaves because of the courier/shipment. So I was very, very shock because almost everyone said these crypt will melt.
    And I also have also have some Echnidorus species in good nutrient substrate.. Sadly It stay small and does not do well, but its other siblings from the same pot does Really Really really well on my small small gravel + sand only 45 gallon tank. Perplexing.
    In conclusion, buy some of these easy ones and don't be afraid of try them out on different substrate and tanks if you have some extra left of these lying around somewhere..(I dont but I tend to take the risk if it quite a cheap plant, we do have it, I've seen a very cheap Bucephalandra species online, very expensive to very cheap it shocked me to still, which I really need to buy soon with some anubias plants). But then again,I think some of the factor comes from temperature and the weather (I AM FROM MALAYSIA). so some plants don't grow that fast as some youtubers told me before since the water is warm all year round here so we do need extra CO2 for some sensitive plants. And a fan(not a heater) though I never use fans anyway.
