A plant absorbs nutrients through its roots, not through its leaves. Liquid fertilizers are made to prevent the richness of the soil from depleting too quickly, and to feed the epiphytic plants that's all. If you don't have rich soil, you will be feeding your epiphytic plants but also the algae. I hope this clarifies things for you.
I've tried several varieties of AR. 2 of 3 melted away to nothing my first try. The one surviving looks pretty sad, think reddish palm tree. My second try is currently starting to melt, mini AR and rosanervig AR. I'm really hoping they hang in there like my palm trees until I can figure out why they hate me.
As a beginner in live plants, red plants seem to come across as high demanding and difficult. So I have avoided them and stuck to the plants that constantly get labeled fool proof. It's me, I'm fool 🙃 This plant has definitely jumped to the top of my next plants to try list! Thanks for this video 😀
I bought the wrong plant for my nano, i got Alternanthera Roseafolia although it grows pretty quick under good light and ferts, it always looks a bit washed out on the top side of the leaves and a bit deformed with darkish powderlike discolouration.
I completely failed with a. reineckii: it grew very slowly and was overwhelmed by a "green fuzz" algae. I was thinking it needed CO2 (which I wasn't using at the time), but you don't think it does?
Get a sterlizer, feed less and water change. You cant just plant it and forget it, you gotta put in work if you want that nice red plants to grow well.

You make planting look easy. I always have to be super careful or I pull the plant right up with my twazzls
You make it sound WAY easier than it actually is.
Hey I love your channel . When I get this in a bundle . Can I plant into substrate with no roots
Another chill axe video with great info and tips. Soothing radio voice...love it.
👍💕👍
the voiceover reminded me of a 50s informational film, nice work lol!
Do you also use with fertilization tablets in the substrate or only with liquid fertilization?

Do you prep the plants before putting them in the tank. If so, what is your process? Or do you plant them straight away and hope for the best?

Extra light is generally the issue. What you running?
How do you lay the substrate layers mixed or in a certain order?

Thanks for the video. My AR mini does horribly. Do you have this under a different light than the fluval 3.0? How big is this tank?

I'm having this issue right now. This is the only plant that has the fuzzy algae and it looks disgusting.

Are all tweezers created equal?? I have cheapies but everytime I plant, the plant pops out as I pull tweezer away. I use eco complete substrate.
D Leal after pushing in pull your tweezers to the side and up. That’s what Joel said once upon a time
how do you layer the substrate (Stratum, ADA and Florite Black)?
Whats the music?
It’s the only red plant that thrives for me. Nice voice over. 😊
try ammania gracilis also.
Thx. Great vid!
I could see a Corvus brand tissue culture in the future a lot of work jus could see it lol
It would help if you had listed the names of the plants as you said them. It’s hard to guess Latin.
I loved this video, the soundtrack is great and it has some great information.
Scarlet temple has the hardest time in my tank and idk why
Alright alright
