    I do seem to struggle keeping my Amazon Sword alive lately, I'll have to look into using root tabs over liquid fertilizer I think. I have new growth on the bottom, but the existing big leaves are just going brown so quickly....

    • @3volk715
      @3volk715 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do not want duckweed...I got it for free from a plant from the store, it eventually almost covered my entire 55g. I found out just soon enough that if it covered the entire thing it could have killed off everything from sealing off the gas exchange. It also too FOREVER to get rid of and when it dies it leaves tiny white pedals floating that if your water evaporates they will get dried to the glass above the water and its a huge pain. Plus they have tiny hair like roots that if it dies fall off, so when you put your hand in the waterit instantly makes a huge mess. That and the fact it all ends up stuck in your filter is why I will never have it again.

    Hi, I'm not sure if I got the tip from this video or another, but you said to put pothos roots into the HOB filter to help with cleaning the water. Well, I took the advice and 2 days ago put some rooted pothos in 2 of my Flu-val 30 gallon filters. When I did a water change today, I found that the extra effort the filter motor had to expend actually almost over-heated it! To the point where the plastic of the heater that screws onto the plastic of the filter box were both melted somewhat. Luckily I caught it sooner than later, and not too much damage was done. I think I will pass on using that tip! LOL

    Hi Cory, I have 3 plants 1> Ozelot sword , planted in a glass filled with gravel and root tabs, 2> Windelov java fern, tied to a rock, and water wisteria or so they say, also planted in a glass with gravel and root tabs. I submerge the little glasses because its easier to move them for cleaning and don't disturb the established roots (when they get developed) Question, do I still need liquid fert, with root tabs? I’m just started getting into experimenting with live plants in aquariums though I’ve been in the aquarium hobby a bit. I have two big tanks I’d like to start trying some live plants in that both have fluorescence lights and I believe them lights are ok to grow live plants but I have a bigger tank that actually has the built in white leds so it’s not really set up for any other lighting fixtures and I’m in not interest to change the lid on that tank to accommodate a different light. So my question is will led lights that are just simple white in color be enough to grow simple plants???
