I'm sadden that Mattel is discontinuing the SilkStone Barbie line!!! In greater news , Barbie has gone up in sales!!! Hopefully Mattel bring out an similar line to the Silkstone Barbie's! P.S. I am a adult Barbie collector! Great video as well!

I inherited a massive collection! All are in boxes! Would love to learn how to sell them. I inherited more than barbies tho. I also have dolls from both Franklin Mint and oh shoot having a brain fart. Anyways all of them are beautiful 😍.
We also inherited a massive car collection. Matchbox and Hot Wheels and classic cars 🚗. I own like the Munsters carriage, starsky and hutch car, Steve McQueen bullet car etc. I have 2 massive storage units with collectibles. None of my toys are flea market material 😑. How can I get the most out of my collection. I inherited these in 2017, but I need to get them out of storage. Please help.

Very nice video, thank you! I take issue with only one thing that you said. You mentioned that the quality of these silkstone outfits cannot be matched; actually, the original vintage outfits of 1959-1967 definitely CAN match these, as those were Mattel's best Barbie years for quality.

I saw a silkstone Barbie online forsale from a sick lady selling her dolls to pay her medical expenses. I bought it as its pretty and a kindness. When it arrived to New Zealand the knee joint broke fell off. I told the lady and she said she'd refund me. I said no. Use the money. Ill customise her into Wondergirl.
So I glued the leg at he knee and made this version... Silkstone are very heavy barbies. I know little about exactly what Silkstone is?

While Silkstones command a decent sum, I would like to understand why they are not valued MUCH higher than rubber vintage Barbies or Gold/Platinum collections. It's extraordinarily easy to see that Silkstones are superior in manufacturing and clothing - especially the high quality fabrics, fashion & cosmetic design incorporated in every detail. Nothing is overlooked and all is of the highest standard - they seem as works of art compared to all other Barbies and dolls in general for that matter. Can you shed some light on this disparity in value? Perhaps this will soon change appropriately and Silkstones will become the most valued.
How can you not open them ?it is too hard for me not open my dolls as a collector...

Enjoyed your video! Could you answer a question for me, please? Are silkstone Barbies the same as vintage reproduction Barbies? I was thinking of giving a vintage reproduction Barbie as a toy for a little girl to play with, but if the doll is porcelaine it could break. I think the vintage and vintage reproduction Barbies have much more interesting faces.
Some reproductions are silkstone and some are plastic. The silkstones are not made to be played with. It should be fairly easy to tell the difference when you find ones you might buy. The silkstone will be much heavier.
Is there a price guide which lists the original retail prices of Silkstone Barbies and other Barbies?
There is not. The only way we can find out is by buying old Barbie Collector Club catalog.
