i am a singaporean living in macao n viewing the hk situation with growing distaste each n every day. mm lee didn't wild guess back then that a streetfighter will be needed as a leader in hk today, he visioned that with the 1c2s in place for 50yrs n the cultural turmoil we went through 50yrs ago in singapore, being the maths major he was with a lifelong passion in politics, he put 2 n 2 together n foresaw that, IF, a soft CE takes office in hk, he/she will not be able to quell the cultural differences n political sensitivity btwn china n hkers which will, slowly but surely, simmer to the boiling point it is today. the streetfighter he metaphored must be able to convince hkers that the 1c2s is a cold hard truth which they must make the best of it even though they hated it while fending off china's stealth ruling n sporadic intervention on another front. he/she must lead hk with conviction on both homeground n beijing fronts n not be like the yes-man CL is. we as singaporeans adore mm lee to death, his rule was suffocating at times, but a necessity without the slightest doubt. u have my utmost respect, mr lee kuan yew sir.

sigh. In the heart of Lee, even at that time, he still felt the pain of leaving his Chinese and Indians comrades in Malaysia. He can only made up by giving more jobs to Malaysia Chinese and Indians when Singapore is better off. He got his people support through the socialist core in Singapore but he swiped them all into cells. When the opportunity presented, he contributed to help China to reform and took a first step into genuine socialism where a billion Chinese are lifted out of poverty. To me, at this age, his legacy is a positive one.

Lam Par 3 weeks ago LKY is not interested interfere in China affair because he is not a British Imperialist or American white supremacist. The British governed China with an iron hand and now urge the Hong Kong rioters to damage their own country. American white supremacists cannot forgive China for daring to be Communist and still do good for its people. Their National Endowment for Democracy (CIA in disguise) give money to the rioters and other anti-China to buy masks, money and skill to make petrol bombs, also give the American flags which the rioters proudly wave while at the same time they throw the Chinese 5 Stars into the sea.

Trump has proven his skill and valor by beating Hillary against overwhelming odds. LKY is overrated, though there are other leaders who had advanced Taiwan and Hong Kong economies and never had to brag like LKY.
We really miss LKY so much 😢🇸🇬
Yes
What Senior Minister LEE said is so true on how china's relationship with HK till today. So over the years you can see how the RICH Hong Konger's have left HK for good. What he say about Europe is also true.
Singapore now lacks a leader like Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who could navigate the country amidst the political climate of the time. He is deeply missed.

Sad thing nowadays is majority of world leaders are with the “heart of stone” not like Mr. Lee who had the wisdom of the “crystal ball”.
LKY lives on in our hearts....I truly feel so...I think many others do too..I think very few people in authority can lead a disciplined life like him.. he showed us how intelligence and determination can change the lives of millions of people.

No he does not , he say Hongkong needs a street fighter chief executive.

Not only Luck. It was hard work by all Singaporeans
i am a singaporean living in macao n viewing the hk situation with growing distaste each n every day. mm lee didn't wild guess back then that a streetfighter will be needed as a leader in hk today, he visioned that with the 1c2s in place for 50yrs n the cultural turmoil we went through 50yrs ago in singapore, being the maths major he was with a lifelong passion in politics, he put 2 n 2 together n foresaw that, IF, a soft CE takes office in hk, he/she will not be able to quell the cultural differences n political sensitivity btwn china n hkers which will, slowly but surely, simmer to the boiling point it is today. the streetfighter he metaphored must be able to convince hkers that the 1c2s is a cold hard truth which they must make the best of it even though they hated it while fending off china's stealth ruling n sporadic intervention on another front. he/she must lead hk with conviction on both homeground n beijing fronts n not be like the yes-man CL is. we as singaporeans adore mm lee to death, his rule was suffocating at times, but a necessity without the slightest doubt. u have my utmost respect, mr lee kuan yew sir.
A great visionary leader of all time.

But the situation is differ, singapore seperated from malaysia and being let alone, hong kong is returned to a ruler with different policy
We do need a street fighter as our chief executive. The enemies are ruthless and dressed in tuxedos!
wisdom, humility, a great man indeed
He is a great man.. I like the law in Singapore because I am live in Singapore.
A very great man.
Very articulate and thoughtful.
Speak with clarity and using simple words, speak like a Jedi master.
One of the most brilliant man, the World ever had. With great respect!
Absolutely worth spending 49 min. to revisit the visionary insight about HK & beyond from the contemporary World's grestest leader, on our best historical track record.☝🏻👍🏻🥇🏆

What a joy to listen to Mr Lee wise and well thought of reply .
This guy predicted what was going to happen in 2020 when none of the other leaders had a clue. The covid prep was already done to a certain level in Singapore. What a true leader.
omg listening to this in 2023 and everything MM Lee said turned out to be bloody truths within our latest years 😭 he has been such great leader who saw though to the future!
There is none like him be they Oriental or Occidental. He is one of a very, very rare breed. Singapore is LKY and LKY is Singapore. Period.
As long as Lee Kuan Yew’s lifetime legacy from his PMship, SMship and eventual MMship, carries on and on for Singapore’s present and future development, Singapore shall be sound and prosperous continuously. As we Singaporeans, we sincerely miss Mr LKY very much. Even last month March on the 23rd day, my family and I still recollect his death anniversary after 8 years in 2023.❤❤❤
How can you not like him..
Always master of the situation
Casino gaming or gambling very very evil. Nothing laudable.
@人间正道是沧桑 He used the communist
lingo to gain power . He is not anti communist in his approach , using some of the communist methods in his governance . But he is a smart man, combing the communist with the capitalist approach to his governance.

I listened to his tiny part of his speech live before.... The charisma .... when he talked, the whole room is quiet, except for handphone ringing tones ....
I really hope HK can think of a better way to tackle the problem, no protest please..
It would be much easier for people of hk if us and uk stop to interfere.

Lee's comment to former head of Hong Kong government, Tong Jian Hua, fits today's Carrie Lam. Hong Kong has not had a real strong politician (street fighter) as the head of government. Most of them either are government administrators or businessman.
Under british rule, nobody talk about politics. After that, all suddenly so involve in it. Can't understand.
Small country world grade leader. We miss you, Mr. Lee ❤️
even if he didnt live in hong kong , it is wrong to insinuate that he doesnt know what was going on in HK..He makes it his business to know about the political climates of the world...Shes lucky he didnt put her down !

Mr. Lee passed away at the age of 91yo in 2015.
Should he still be alive now, he would turn 98yo in a week time.
It would be very interesting to listen to his assessment of the world today in particular about the USA, China and China's close neighbours.
The situation in the world today is very much different than it was when he attended this interview.
Oh how I wish he were still with us now.
LKY is not interested interfere in China affair or present any conjecture in public, he prefer to talk about Singapore where he is the citizen and an elected PM, not of China.

LKY is not interested interfere in China affair because he is not a British Imperialist or American white supremacist.
Mr LEE, you are right, we need a street fighter for Hong Kong as the CEO
I miss his insights, wonder what advise he will give HK now.
Me too looking at the state of the current chaos. 😅
Mr Lee Kuan Yew, our Founding Father of Singapore will always be fondly remembered and always missed by many, in our home land and other countries as many can see when he passed on. Far sighted and Great Leaders like Mr Lee with such sound wisdom will be very hard to find and come by, at least not in the near future.
We wish Hong Kong a return of peace and prosperity soonest. 🙏🏼
If he were the leader of China back in 1984, he would insist one system.
@@papayajia Unlikely, the 2 societies are too drastically different to be governed under a common system in 1997. There would be clashing of gears, exodus of Hong Kong born citizens, and an even greater loss of talent and capital.

Leaving Msia may not be a right choice but LKY made it right. Stop at 2 may not be a right scheme now but it was necessary at that time. Better or worse, he has a brilliant mind that many leaders lost to him. He's way too clear-minded for a guy that age.
@wksoh it's not kick out.
