- In a keynote session at the INSEAD Leadership Summit in Asia, the founder of modern Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, revealed that during a meeting with Washington aides to presidential candidates, he was asked whether the US should regard China as a friend or foe.
His reply: "Neither at the moment." He then added that in 20 years' time, the US will be dealing with a different set of leaders.

I'm a Singaporean born 1964. I've so much respect for 2 person in my life. Lee Kuan Yew and Bruce Lee. They're both irreplaceable. Btw today is 23th march is Lee Kuan Yew's 6years death anniversary. Rip Sir. We missed you.

I remember drowsing in front of the TV some years ago when Charlie Rosej began to interview Lee Kuan Yew who I knew very little about at the time. It was quite late but his intelligence woke me up and I turned on the lights and began to listen. I can't agree with all of his positions but he was an extraordinary leader and human being. His eulogy of his wife is one of the most moving expressions of love I have ever heard. He will be missed.
Great leader, great visionary,leader who lead and lived by example. He tirelessly and single handedly made Singapore a model country which even big countries will be hard pressed to emulate! I was lucky to have seen, heard and felt his leadership first hand!

A few years ago while on vacation in Iceland, I met a young lady from Singapore and mentioned that I was had a lot of respect for LKY.She replied "I cried when he died, the whole country cried and it rained all day".In other words the very sky cried.
Listening to Lee Kuan Yew is always an educational and entertaining experience.

Never before in the modern era of human endeavour, have so many owed so much to one man, who cared neither for gold, glory nor honour, not even self, but strived his entire life for others, devoting wholeheartedly solely to their welfare and the betterment of his budding nation, transforming it from third world to first in one monumental stride.
A feat unparalleled, a reality out of impossibility, a miracle in the eyes of many.
To say he was a man in a million holds no justice. Aptly put, he was simply from out of this world.

I am a 17 year old American and I can say that I will cry when LKY finally departs, but I'm glad he was at least slightly in my time. He's not perfect, I don't agree with all of his ideas, but he doesn't claim to be that which he isn't, which is his monopoly in the world of politics because no other politician can say the same.

Still a long way to go as to education and wiping out corruption-nepotism. We are also a multi racial society. A far larger country than Singapore with a population of 3.8 million. It is a beautiful country. Come and visit. About 10% of our people are Chinese.

Clips about him kept me up all night. 6.30am now and I just can’t get enough of his wise words.
His foresight is immerse and certainly open up my mind. Seen these clips years ago and still managed to throw up new perspectives. Man, his words are timeless.
Every time I listen to speech nd Interview of Mr. Lee, I learn loads of new stuffs... btw whenever I listen to him, I become humble and feel like being an apprentice listening to a Master teaching...
This is just slightly over 2 years ago... i remember seeing this before and now when i see this, i still marvel at his intellectual capacity and wit. The world will miss you greatly Sir.

You and I are not upto his wisdom.but together we can create greatness through his wise words.
This man was the prime minister of Singapore when Singapore officially left Malaysia and at the same time, Tunku Abdul Rahman also held the position as first prime minister of Malaysia. And for other info he was born in 1923 and died in 2015. Make you realize how long this man has lived. As malaysian i respect him so much, Singapore become what their be today is because of him

The Indian who asked his question truly represents the Indian mindset. It is I who is this that and the other. As if anyone was interested. The response by MM Lee was specific to the issue that bedevils India. No one with talent wants to get into government. No personal sacrifice. The bureaucracy is bloated and inefficient. India will never be a new super power. it is simply experiencing a short window of prosperity. That too will disappear when economic trends change.
I believe India will be a superpower,with an economy in shoulders with China,watch it out
This man was a rare instance of forward thinking, clarity of mind, leadership on a global scale. It is surprising that he had those qualities still honed well into middle age and elder age. The world consumes many people but he instead lead and thought and made good things happen.

I miss Singapore. I worked there for two years. It was 14 years ago .The Singapore political leadership are so great. I'm thinking back if I wasn't move from Singapore my life might peaceful now.

A Thai monk taught me: In the Dhamma, you will see the Buddha. In the Buddha, you will see the Dhamma. Although he has passed on, in his memoirs, you will see LKY. And what he needed to teach you on good governance, it all there. Learn it and apply his teachings.
I know not that much about this guy, but one thing is for sure, he is smart as hell...

Mr Lee Kuan Yew is simply indescribable as a leader.. An erudite Statesman , A Colossus indeed...A succint speaker. Reminds me of the comment in the Holllywood Film "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". I quote the line spoken by Eli Wallach, " .... if you can shoot, shoot! Don't talk!!...."
