Talking about capital penalty for drugs. I love how Mr. LKY was very straight to the point, not like typical politician circling around until they themselves do not have slightest clues what they are talking about. A legend!

I cant believe i didn’t get to watch this interview sooner like 16-17 years sooner, if i had my thesis on Asian studies would have scored better marks😁 A powerful interview indeed, as usual the founding father of Singapore was very shrewd in the way he managed Singapore. He was a born leader and manager combined and it’s hard to find such talented person like him. The things he said about China,Japan, America and Europe are all come to light. If he’s still alive today what would he have commented about today’s issues, i wonder🤔

Example the American has rights to consume drugs. The right to self centerly not get vaccinated? Every country comes about in different circumstances and changes. Singapore might be totally different if in 1819 where the sultan of Johore is smart when negotiating with raffles Johore could be the capital of Malaya.. Well that's for what if.
My understanding of rights is not just for myself but need to consider the person nest to me. My action will impact not just me but others around. Human rights, the right to free speech need to be hold responsible if is baseless

Although Mr.Lee was an anti-colonialist, he ginuely gave a good advice to American about their hubris right here. He say that America was ahead, but soon the scale will tip in 20 years. Now in 2021, that couldn't be more true.
He say we should co-exist and respect eachothers to be prosperous. We can teach eachother and learn from eachother. Being an adversaries doesn't mean we can't also be an allies and both profits.
Yet, during the last 5-6 years both Americans and Chinese are getting further and further away from eachther, and both of their economies are slowing down. Be it the fear of American that don't want to let Chinese taking over their place, or the fear of Chinese that westerners would back stab them if they're too vulnerable.
It's 19/9/2021 now. With the threat of Corona virus and downfall of traveling economies, each countries took a hit all the same. To recover, and prosper, maybe they need to take a step back and try to change the course of their decision during the past 5 years.

China is partly to blame for the deteriorating relationship. They became predatory and aggressive in their economic policies, openly challenging to overtake the US. China is too overly ambitious. It is a pity because a positive relationship between US and China will be most beneficial for the progress of mankind.

Some of his views are still applicable today. Amazing, brilliant and capable leaders. S’pore is very fortunate to have LKY as a Prime Minister whereas, it is a total loss for Malaysia to reject him.

It is what it is. To say that us the Malaysian are loss for rejecting him? I don't think so. His idea at that time is too 'adventurous' for malaysia. He should understand that in malaysia we have our own culture n identity. It is not sth that we can reset it just like by pressing a buttons.

Malaysia would have already achieved developed country status in 80s and now on par with Japan/Korea if LKY was Malaysia PM.
And with Malaysia rich natural resource, Malaysia would be the richest and powerful medium size country, not just in SEA, but in Asia, respected by countries near and far.

46.22 because Science means you are able to muster the universe, change nature, to the advantage of man and through technology make the world a better place for human beings. But I am also concerned that in our exuberance, and our inability to have that (model?) balance, we may change the world to such an extent that we may threaten our own existence. How true.
