Released on VHS but never on DVD or Blu-ray, ‘Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country Special Home Video Version’ is, in my opinion, the best cut of the movie. You’ll understand what I mean if you watch the director’s cut released on DVD.
Mike, even I can't long for VHS. 🤔 DVD gives us the ability to buy entire seasons of shows. 📀 Also, it gave us on the go flexibility. 📀 I have to travel a lot. And my laptop that plays DVDs 📀 helps A LOT. As does my tablet that plays DVDs. 📀

I prefer the Batman 89 vhs to the Blu-ray. I’m also watching the Lord of the Rings extended editions on vhs. They are fine. The audio isn’t as good as the Blu-ray/dvd but image quality is fine. I love how you just stop a vhs and you go back to it it’s exactly where you left.
Well this is a hard one to pick from. Bc VHS from the 1980 to 1997 was king when you wanted to see and rent or own some of the coolest movies on VHS. And the only downside to VHS was the picture quality & how easy the tapes broke after years of viewing of the movies on the tape. But what was so good about VHS compared to DVD or any other format that has ever come out so far. Is that VHS had the most quantity of movie catalog titles ever available on one format. And DVD format is pretty in having quantity of catalog titles available too. But still not even close to what was available on VHS format witch was the true king of the format with the most catalog titles available
@@megamikethemoviemanwell from what I read over the years was. When dvds 📀 came on the market in mid 1997 the only movie studios that back dvds 📀 from the beginning was Sony & Warner bros witch was behind that format 💯 percent. Unlike Disney & 20th century fox witch wear really the last two major studios. To jump on to the DVD 📀 format. And it took those two studios once they did jump on the format a couple more years before they would even release there blockbusters movies on the format. And in the vhs era the studios would just release almost every single film they owned on vhs 📼. Bc people bought vhs 📼 tapes Unlike dvds 📀 or any other format. And it is a shame that the studios didn't support dvds 📀 like they did with vhs format. And it still blows my mind to this day that we still don't have alot of vhs catalog titles still not available on DVD 📀 to this day. And yes we have gotten tons of catalog titles available on DVD 📀 but there is still alot more that should have gotten a DVD 📀 release by now. But if you have noticed every time there is a new format that gets release. The studios would release less & less catalog titles on the newer format. And I say that bc look between vhs format & DVD 📀 format there is alot less catalog titles available on DVD 📀 compared to vhs format. And it is even worse between DVD 📀 format & bluray/ 4k format witch has gotten the worst of all the formats. And the sad thing is that even laser disk format has the second best catalog titles available behind vhs format
There was also Betamax but they lost the format war to VHS but according to people who had both they say Beta was superior but being able to record on it for 6 hours and being cheaper gave the victory to VHS. VHS degrade? Of course because of the physical contact with the heads. I have VHS from the 80s. I have a Venezuelan VHS with the factory stamp of August 28 1983! It's 41 years old and it looks and plays fine. But some of the early DVDs like the original Star Wars trilogy had disc rot and had to be replaced. I got my Sony Psych DVD player in 2005 and some of the movies from those days no longer work. Including boutique labels which can't be replaced anymore and are good horror movies. But DVDs came out usually costing just $20 while VHS at the beginning were $50-$70! And DVDs look and sound better and a lot of previously unavailable movies came out on disc. But not all there's still lots of horror movies lost on VHS probably due to legal rights or the prints seem to be lost. Anyway I'll still give the edge to DVD since they were also easily available since the beginning. Good topic and cool video Mike!👉🙂👈
@megamikethemovieman I don't know we'll see in 2045 when my first DVDs are 40 years old. Will my VHS collection still work by then? Who knows maybe or maybe they'll crumble to pieces or be decarbonizing.🤔
Horror movies on VHS has become a niche market and the same movies on VHS are more expensive so you're better of buying the DVD or Blu-ray. Back when everything was coming to DVD I sold 100s of VHS including 100 Venezuelan ones. Now I'm sorry and I'm trying to get them back. Well at least the American ones I sold the movies in P.R. so I'll probably never see the Venezuelan ones again. I think most people that still collect VHS are old geezers like me and a few young people that see how cool they are and what a marvel of technology VCRs are. I still collect VHS but have slowed down because there's so much horror coming to disc and I only have so much money.🤑
@megamikethemovieman almost none are cheap. The cheaper ones might be $5 but that's rare most are $20 and higher. The most I paid for an old VHS was $50! Back in the day I paid $69 for Phantasm II and same for Hellraiser II! Venezuelan VHS were $49 a pop but that's O.K. because they were imported.🤔
@megamikethemovieman those are the most common and mainstream titles. But occasionally you'll find a second hand store with horror or any movie for a quarter. But I've seen videos in other states that they sell physical media and the horror VHS have prices according to rarity or how popular they're or if the movie only has a VHS and no other version.🤔
