Still helpful in 2024! I never would've thought to use a tack.
Great video. I hadn't thought of using a push pin like that to help guide the needle in. I always use a heating pad to make things easier as I go. A helpful hint - dip Integrity Toys and Silkstone Barbie heads in boiling hot water before rooting. The heat causes the large rooting holes that are left gaping open from the factory rooting process to shrink back down. Really helps with the section of the head where the hair was parted in production.

Are Silkstone Barbie doll head made out of Silkstone or ?
It's a mix of porcelain and resin.

Yeah they are REALLY pale. The palest mtm bodies is the 1st release purple shirt, the redhead with light purple shirt & the curvy flower leggings. You could check azone/obitsu brand bodies, they are pretty pale.

Wrap the doll in a heating pad on high for about 45 minutes. Her head came off really easy because it was so soft, and the silkstone neck knobs are a lot like vintage dolls.

Wrap her in a heating pad on the highest setting for about 45 minutes. After that long it's smooth like butter; I was surprised with how easily it came off! I am going to record the next time I do it and make a little video for it.
