Thank you so-so-so-so-soooooo-SOOOO much for this video! I tried to do a few customs back in high school and always wanted to try this method of re-rooting but I could never understand it from the other tutorials I saw. Doing it on paper first, then on the doll made this super easy to understand and I can't wait to try it :).
Thank the Heavens! If I saw one more ten year old stuffing doll hair down a doll's head I was going to scream. This was extremely helpful, thank you so much. Now I just have to figure out how to get the dolls head off. Got to love life's little challenges.
ZOMG!!!! This is gorgeous! I have been using the knot method (and hurting my fingers with my dollar store needles. I am totally trying this on my next MH reroot...only issue is actually ordering hair instead of using from other dolls (not long enough) Thanks for the video!!!!
Thanks Robin :) I have been using the knot method for years and I have always wanted to do it this way but I didn't really understand ,much easier now I have seen it.......it looks so professional...thanks again:) jen
Hiya :) Any of the methods used in the 3 videos should be fine to use on a Bratz doll, you can use any hair you wish really! The Nylon, Polypropylene or Saran that I stock are the best types of doll hair you can buy so it is personal preference which you choose to use! I hope that helps :)
Thank you for posting this tutorial. I always used the not method for rerooting a doll head but I so LOVE this method better and will use it next time I root a head.
What doll do you have? If it is a soft vinyl head then making extra plug holes is as easy as poking a needle through :) I will often give my dolls extra hair plugs to cover any bald spots - glad the video is helping! ^_^ x
you can use a glue which has a bit of tolerance to it - Fabri-tac can be washed up to 40 degrees for example - if you use ordinary PVA / tacky glue then yes, be careful when washing as it is water soluble xx
I realy wanna do this for my old Sunday doll , I just love Sindy , very expensive for a original ballerina Sindy , ps where do u get the hair ? Guess u order on line ? Somewhere :)
Hi please can u explain about rerooting a braTZ DOLL head! PLEASEEEE. Because i want to do this but erm i dont know what hair to use.. and if it will work also i have brought pink hair from you before :D
synthetic doll hair - saran, nylon or polypropylene are the best! :) If you do a search for "My Little Customs" you will find the full range of colours and materials there x
There are so many tutorials out there, using fancy tools and not telling you how to secure stuff. THIS. IS. BRILLIANT.
this was an awesome tutorial. I appreciate the fact you made it simple with the paper, then showed on an actual doll head. wonderful ! thanks!
This technique gave me headaches when I tried but I used it on a Blythe scalp which is a bit easier. You're brave for trying on such small head!

For a Monster High, because the work space inside the head is quite small, I would recommend using the knot method instead of lock and loop :) x
You did a great help because i want to lock and loop my doll but where did you buy the needle
Great way of doing it - thank you for explaining. But how do you end it? Do you tie a knot at the last loop?

you could but it would take a LONG time!! Have you looked at the "Knot Method" if you preferred to do it one hair plug at a time? x
Thanks Robin :) I have been using the knot method for years and I have always wanted to do it this way but I didn't really understand ,much easier now I have seen it.......it looks so professional...thanks again:) jen
I've been using a variation of this method myself for years, but I'm probably going to revise my method to match yours. Thanks for posting this!

the loops shouldn't break as they form a chain to hold themselves in, however, should one break, a dab of glue will secure it into place :) x

This video was a HUGE help to me as I am just starting out on this new venture!! Thank you so much you are the best!!!!
Its Robin, I used to run MLC before Elise took over :D
cant I tie end of each 1 stad of chaining it?
How do you secure the last loop?
I tried to do it on a barbie doll and got it right but the problem is the hair, its uneven not same lenght so it just looks messy.
Oh I just found this and I’m so thankful! I will try it soon!
wait... you didn't explain how secure the last plug. if that one plug isn't locked then all the rest come out.. what do you do with it?
thank you very much for taking your time to make this tutorial - it is a great help!
But if I wash the doll's head, will not remove the glue?
Thank you so much Robin, for your great tutorial, your an angel.

I think it's a great video, very knowledgeable, but you said when you are done to tie the last 2 together, I'm confused! Thanks for sharing the video
Hi, im into making monster high dolls, i plan on buying some hair from your website, how many hanks of hair should i buy for a monster high doll head?
I guess u just tie a knot at the end , but the hair seems to stick up ? How do u get the parting ?
will this work for bratz dolls hair? it seems like it would be to difficult to do since they have small neck holes.
Hi please can u explain about rerooting a braTZ DOLL head! PLEASEEEE.
Because i want to do this but erm i dont know what hair to use..
and if it will work also i have brought pink hair from you before :D
