I have never been so torn on a game. On the one hand, I love all Arkham stuff from FFG, on the other hand the replayability value seems to be lower than 2nd edition or Eldritch Horror due to the scenario based nature. But thanks for another playthrough Colin.
I think the replayabilty with 3E just isn't there, especially when you start playing the same scenario over and over. You eventually lose the immersion by being able to predict what comes next (X is about to happen, so I need to do A, B, and C to get ready for it). My biggest problem with this game is it's too on-rails.
I haven’t had any issues with replayability with AH 3e, but by the time I get around to replaying a scenario I’ve completely forgotten it. AH 3e is definitely one of my top 3 games. When I have time to play a game this long it’s my top pick!
I understand that this may be an issue, but in my opinion only if you play the game really really often. We by far havent played all scenarios we own and we dont have all expansions yet. And of those scenarios we played there are a few i would like to repeat because of a humiliating loss i want to set straight ;) I like Eldritch Horror still slightly more overall, but the scenario approach they took from the card game is one thing where i like this version better.
Played "Approach of Azathoth" scenario last night with a friend--I love Arkham Horror 3rd Edition, and can't wait to buy some of the expansions. Thanks for the playthrough!
I wanted to like this game but the map tiles are like space stations or colonies on Mars. They are just hard to be associated with the 1920s Arkham vibe. I hope they will make 4th edition more like the 2nd edition, with a big old well aged map. And of course, less scenario, more sandbox.
Thankfully this scenario let you finish with the 5 markers. Some of them remove that win condition once the Ancient One awakens, and you'd have to just fight.
Hey, for the next scenario...I can't remember the name but...the one where the characters are caught between two opposing gangs. It's from the first expansion.
How does it compare to Arkham Horror 2nd Ed? AH2nd is on my top 5 games list and wanted to know if AH3rd replace the 2nd. What I liked about the 2nd is its mood, there’s someone thematic and dark about AH2nd edition. I gave away Eldritch Horror because it didn’t have that classic moodiness of AH2nd.
I haven't played 2nd edition so can't compare but I hear this one is much less dark than the 2nd edition. The biggest advantage of this one is much more streamlined and a full narrative
I've played 2e and 3e quite a lot and they are just... different. I feel that 2nd Ed tosses you around more and is more chaotic while i feel i have more control and better decision making in 3e (but its not enough to really keep things stable). If you like the mood and the dark thematic i would stay with 2nd edition, because 3rd is somewhat streamlined and shows its mechanics more. Where 3rd edition is better are the scenarios where you clearly play through a story that escalates over time and a few of the scenarios are really really good. (I still want to replay the scenario where you have to take side in a gang war and the game changes quite drastically with your decision who to side with)
I might be getting a review copy, though it might only be the base game solo (which I've heard is not nearly as good as the solo/co-op expansion)... we shall see! - Mike
Do you know there is an errata from FFG which says the headlines affect all investigator? images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/39/90/3990f6ae-b143-43a2-a1ea-8aff693addaf/ahb_faq_9-18-20-good.pdf
Good callout except thart is only for headlines that are part of the codex, aka ones that have reckoning effects etc. The one off headlines only impact the current player!

I totally get that! I think since I play it less that hasn't been a problem for me!

Yes!!!
Was saving this to enjoy after my day winds down.
Thanks for the playthrough - Arkham such a great game!
I love this game so much... thanks so much for watching!!
Great game. Has me excited to get it back to the table myself.
Nice!!

Great explanation. This is the best way to learn this kind of game. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
your playthroughs improve any game you play!!!
Haha well thank you very much!!
Thankfully this scenario let you finish with the 5 markers. Some of them remove that win condition once the Ancient One awakens, and you'd have to just fight.
That would have been insane and fun haha!!
Nice so pumped to watch this!!!
Thanks Dan!! Happy Father's day buddy!
@@OneStopCoopShop Same to you happy Fathers Day!!
Woo Colin! Woo Arkham Horror!
Love it!!
Yet another great playthrough from Colin! I want to ask the classic question, AH or EH? :)
Such a hard question! In for adventure? EH all the way. More of a scenario based game? AH 3rd edition! That's what I would say!!
It would be interesting to see dreams of r'lyeh senario.
Hey, for the next scenario...I can't remember the name but...the one where the characters are caught between two opposing gangs. It's from the first expansion.
Oh sweet!!
@@OneStopCoopShop I absolutely love your play throughs of the AH/EH games.
Thanks so much Michael!! More to come for sure!!
I am a terrible pedant...every time you say occult, it sounds like Oh-cult. The pronunciation is Ok-kult. Great play through.
Haha!!
@@OneStopCoopShop I know, I'm an idiot. My wife tells me that all the time.

Do you know which scenario that is cause that sounds awesome!!
@@OneStopCoopShop The scenario is "Shots in the dark" from the Dead of Night expansion. I think its one of the best storywise.
Where did you get those sweet tokens?
Look up luxury tokens for arkham horror, you will find them!
Any chance of a playthrough of the new witcher game?
I might be getting a review copy, though it might only be the base game solo (which I've heard is not nearly as good as the solo/co-op expansion)... we shall see! - Mike
Doom=bad. Well now I know 😂. Colin cracks me up lol.
Just in case your didn't know.. Haha!
I love Arkham etc, but this edition just felt like work and not fun, i did not enjoy it one bit (the actual game itself not the playthrough lol)
I've heard that from a bunch of pple. For some reason it works for me!
