    Your complaints are the very things a Lincoln is known for. Complaining about the smooth ride? That's a hallmark of Lincoln. Know before you buy. Who could hate the smooth Lincoln ride? Beats me. Best ride on the market.

    I have to say, i test drove the aviator a couple of days ago and i have to disagree about how fast it is. This thing is really fast and it takes off with no lag at all. i owned a range rover sport 2014 v6 which was fast but the aviator was actually faster and had no problems going 0-6 in under 6 seconds. Insane!

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's interesting you find that! I think the throttle / acceleration overall is very laggy. I compare it to other 6 cylinders that have way more pep get up and go (BMW 6 cyl for example in X5, etc). This aviator to me accelerates and feels like a much larger car (and coarse engine noise doesn't do it for me either in here). All in all, it's not 'slow' but you have to be on it quite a bit to make it go. Again this is coming from someone who is used to 'faster' cars / suvs / sport sedans so in the real world I'm sure this might actually be seen as a car with good pickup! Glad you enjoyed the test drive! Are you in the market for one?

    • @largon2008
      @largon2008 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thedesertroad That's the thing as a previous owner of the rr sport which was fast with 340hp this aviator with 400 and for its size is super fast and i did not notice it being slow at any point of the test drive, i did use EXCITE mode of course but the other modes were also very decent when i stepped on the gas. i think 8 out of 10 people would say it has great power and a more than good acceleration. Great review by the way.

    Notice there is no mention in the video about the power plant under the hood. Throttle response in my 2020 is awesome, even in conserve mode. I always run in conserve mode. Mine has a 3L twin-turbo putting out 400hp, 415ftbs torque. Doing 70 one day stuck behind 4 left lane squatters, saw a break on the right and tapped the pedal. Almost instantly, the Avaitor jumped to over 90. The Avaitor flew past the 4 squaters in just a few seconds leaving them in the dust. Engine noise - none, it is very quiet. There is a nice muscle car growl from the exhaust. Soft ride, what did he expect from a luxury car? Lincolns are not exactly sports vehicles. If that's what he wants, should have bought a Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, Porsche, etc. I think then he would have complained about lack of space and luxury.

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had the 3.0, and was underwhelmed with the response. Many complaints online of the coarse engine noise, especially pulling away from a light / stop that was very unpleasant. No easy way to turn that off! Overall, it's a good car for the right customer - but the slew of quality control issues ./ build quality made me get out of her after a 4 month stint. Highly disappointing issues with something made after 2020! I generally like a sportier ride, but that's not what ultimately soured me on this car. Thanks for stopping by our channel today!

    sounds like you bought it for the you tube content, not the car it's self. the reason you buy this car is because of the floaty ride. this car is meant to cruise not to speed. the speed is there for when you need it. and of course it will never ride like a euro car. i cant stand the stiff ride of those cars.

She has a ton of problems with hers, but I figured since it was the first year of a new model, they'd worked stuff out by now. They did NOT. Screen going black, blue screen of backup death. Clunky transmission. On a CPO with 18k miles! Luckily Lincoln has a killer money back guarantee. The dealer did me a solid. They allowed me to return the car and hop back into my m40i. So, I did. Lincoln is still just a Ford with a loaner program. No better than the Explorer, unfortunately.

The reason I'm partial to this Lincoln Aviator and also The 2023 Volvo S90 Ultimate is due to the fact it doesn't appear to be no where as many of these on the roads compared to all the Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, etc. Love the fact of having something a little different from the masses. You’re the only person in about 6 reviews that said the vehicle is not fast enough. But thanks for taking the time to do the review. I’m going to be looking at Lincoln SUV's. Im looking forward to driving the Aviator with that 400hp engine. That air suspension sounds like the Lincolns from the 70's. I don’t think I would like the air suspension either. It sounds like you would be happier in a BMW. Im also looking at the X3 & X5.

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      To me the car just seemed to have lazy acceleration all around. It was never eager to go.
      I ended up in a X5 M50i and it addresses a majority of my complaints. What really drove me away from Lincoln is the build quality all around, and that terrible horrible infotainment system.
      The floatiness and sway over every uneven surface drove me nuts! IMHO the 40i X5 is the way to go overall, but if you must for more power the V8 ones are great. I was not a fan of the X3s. Good Luck and let me know what you think!

      Get the reserve package. 22" wheels look really great. With a 400hp/415 ft.lbs of torque 3.0L Twin Turbo, it has more than enough get up and go when you step on the gas. It has some engine growl when you start moving, but it gets very quiet as you drive, and has a very solid ride. Put it in Excite mode, and you hear and feel more of the engine. It not only adjusts the transmission, but the suspension and sound inside the car as well. I've had mine for a little less than a month. Upgraded from a 3.7L 2016 MKX Reserve, and this is a tremendous move up. I am loving it.

    I don’t have the air suspension option but it’s still very smooth and soft. It’s a great car and great bang for buck like you said, but the technology very glitchy and I never had problems like that in any bmws I owned. Definitely need a sports car as a 2nd car to make up for the lazy ride.

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed on all your points. I prefer the standard suspension to the air 100% on this car. The car feels more solid and more planted on the road. Next time I'd opt it without air. My tech is very glitchy as well, screen takes a while to load and sometimes I have random screen resets. And def +1 on the sports car as second ride. As I currently need to have two cars in one - I'm looking at M50i X7 and SQ7 for my next daily driver. Both of those offer a great ride, tons of power and bit more driver involvement. The X7 leans more luxury then SQ7 - but still adds in some sport over the Aviator which is a nice medium. Thanks for your feedback and watching!

      @@Stantep You are absolutely right. We just taped an SQ7 as well (th-cam.com/video/Cci3XqDrYXU/w-d-xo.html&t), and although the car is identical in length to the Aviator, it feels and looks smaller inside and out. The SQ7 really wraps around you and rides sporty, where as the Aviator feels full on SUV mode! You are also correct, trunk space IS smaller in the SQ7, although still 'plenty' with the 3rd row down. X7s are nice, but definitely feels a size above the Aviator when it's parked and driving, and definitely a tradeoff as well in that department as many of the parking spaces around Scottsdale here are very small. All great choices, and I'm happy I got to try an American car !

    Don’t buy a Lincoln if you don’t want everything you complain about. If you bought the pluggable option you would have another 100 hp electric motor helping with not only in your 0-60 speed but a fantastic increase in gas mileage. 500 HP and 600 ft lbs of torque makes a difference. How about over 30 MPG on the highway and 75 MPG in the city as long as you plug it in at night and keep your drive mileage to 20 miles of battery life? My gas bill has dropped $100/month just keeping my car plugged in at night. Since I only pay 10 cents per KWH for electricity, I only pay for the long trips in gas. My electric bill only increased $10/month! I only fill the tank 1x per month and we still take plenty of day trips away from home. The pay off for the pluggable option took only 2 years.

      I didn't trust buying the hybrid as the boards are flooded with issues/reliability problems. You are correct some of my cons would of been addressed by that platform, but not all of them. All-in-all it was Lincolns poor build quality, semi-uncomfortable seats, crap infotainment, floaty ride and poor dealer network around where I live that ultimately made me give it up. Appreciate your great comment! I have a corsair for the weekend as the Aviator is in for service, and I feel like the ('22) Corsair build quality far exceeds the Aviator. None of the annoying raspy engine sounds. Peppy. No squeaks, no rattles. Quieter ride. Rides superb on the springs. No swaying or any of the floaty feeling the Aviator gives. I am honestly much more impressed with the corsair package, even though its a much smaller car, and wouldn't fit my family needs at the moment.
      I am now shopping X7 M50i and Audi SQ7. Still both 6/7 passenger, premium build quality on both, both very engaging (SQ7 more so), and tons of fun with the V8 motor. Probably a few more bucks then the Aviator, but to me is well worth it.
      I really really tried to like the Aviator, but it's got too many cons vs. the pros for my liking - especially when I'm looking for more engagement for day-to-day driving.
      Good luck on the hunt. This is a tough segment for me as I'm used to sports car / small SUVs and sports sedans. Not a large car fan here! 😁

You can’t charge $80k (Black Label) and already having negative reliability reports, & that’s not based on this video! Absolutely right. It's a charmer in looks - but lincoln has a LOT of work to do to bring it up to the quality of all the rivals. This car is lacking in several areas for me, and missing that enthusiast kick I'm looking for. I REALLY wanted to love the car, and have it be part of our family for years... but at the end of the day many parts and pieces of it seem more like a homemade project then a manufacturer that knows what they are doing. Acceleration is lacking?!? Da fuq? No. I have been driving SUV’s and the Aviator is at the top of the class for acceleration. It’s not a sports coupe bro. Now handling isn’t top of class, but it’s not bad. The only suv that would be better is the Mazda CX-90 or a Beemer m series, but then you have to give up the comfort and space. In the case of the German’s don’t plan on owning it more than 5 years. You don’t seem like a guy who turns a wrench. So after 100k that German is going to start to break down on you.

    German cars are not perfect cars, when they break down they break down. Parts are expensive and the depreciation value on Audi, BMW, Mercedes is insane. Yes they are more sporty and have a nice quality feel to them but I think its an illusion, just look at the resale on some of these cars. People that buy them switch cars every 2-3 years. They also have electrical issues because of all the electronics. The Lincoln is whats known as "American Luxury". So depends what you're used to. Also from what I can see the aviator is depreciating fast so can pick up a used one a couple of years old at half the price now.

    • @thedesertroad

And it has a lot of problems and we need a new car. But we don’t need a massive SUV. We’ve had our fair share of those. We are preferably looking for a used car because the last time my parents tried buying a brand new car they were both involved in accidents. And it’s really only me that’s gonna be getting rides from them to and from school. Since my brother has his own car already. We want something that’s big but not too big and something with legroom. Audi BMW are always broken ...so much for build quality

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been driving new Audis for 10+ years now and almost never a single issue! Not sure how late models BMWs hold up. The Lincolns (especially Aviators) have obvious flaws they still need to address! Thanks for stopping by and watching our video!

      @TheDesertRoad BMW is notorious for mechanical issues, so much in fact they started including service plans with purchase. Don't get me started on Audi. Brand new RSQ8 in the shop for over a month waiting on a part for computer malfunction. I am told that because of supply chain constraints there is a delay. Audi has given a loaner vehicle but still.

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rerjr007 Wow. The RSQ8 is on my short list for one of my next cars. The only Audi I had an issue with was on my RS7 when both turbos went at 28K miles on a stock car. Otherwise nothing but great experience with them. Thanks for your feedback.

    Great car if you think $80,000 for 19 days of pleasure is worth it face-fuchsia-tongue-outI p/u a new 2021 Aviator reserve which I fell in love with same as the dude in the video has been bragging about but after 19 days of pure pleasure the entire electrical system went crazy now the vehicle has been in service 3 time for a total of 41/2 months and nothing has been repaired and even more is wrong with it The f------en car is such a piece of sh____It has been nothing but trouble for the last year and a half, Now It is sitting in a storage unit for the last 7 months because its a safety hazard and I will not put my family in it nor will I put the public in danger . Hers just a few of the issues, while driving on the highway the front end starts to shimmy furiously to the point that I have to make my way over to the shoulder. Or all of a sudden the car feels as the brakes are on as I'm driving 100km an hour on the highway Or all of a sudden the back end on the car dips as if the hatch has opened .the screen does not lower its intensity automatically or manually so when your driving at night its literally blinding you . I could name at least 5 other major problems that occur and the worst part of it all .the problems that occur happen randomly you never know when its going to happen so BEWARE!!!!!!!!! I hope I've helped you make a safe decision

      Thanks for your feedback - there have been various reports of reliability issues on these, but supposedly newer models are better + generally good to stay away from the hybrids. Good Luck with the next car and thanks for stopping by!!
