  • With the introduction of the first-ever #IntegraTypeS, the latest #Acura #Integra becomes a MUCH more desirable car for enthusiasts looking for something a little nicer than a #CivicTypeR. Borrowing essentially most of the hardware from the #TypeR, the new #TypeS Integra promises to be the luxury oriented track ready driver's car that more mature buyers wanting to drive a manual transmission are yearning for.

Happy Monday everyone! We're SO excited to finally show you our full review with driving impressions on the first-ever Integra Type S and this car doesn't disappoint! The sound alone will make Type R owners green with envy. Do you guys feel the extra $7k on the Acura is money well spent compared to a Type R? Let us know below!

We are conditioned to believe that FWD is only bad and AWD is the only good....what started to solidify that thinking for me is this: Would Acura sell this car in Canada if they weren't confident that FWD is all you need? My thought is no, absolutely not. They're basically saying, you really don't need it with this car. Review after review, what comes out is the surprise over how well a FWD grips the road in this car. I do very much agree with the minimal complaints like not having an arm rest in the backseat, memory seats, power passenger seat, etc., but I have no desire to compare it to the TLX when I'm looking to buy until they offer a manual transmission. Great video, y'all - thanks much.

      Things that not many say
      1) Can't run difference size of tires. They all need to have exactly the same thread level. Especially if they come with LSD. Blow up a tire you might need to buy all 4s if the there is a significant thread level difference.
      2) You need to change rear diff fluid
      3) You need to change transfer case fluid
      4) Cars with AWD are typically heavier an attribute that have a negative effect in handling.

The type S in blue and orchid interior is just perfection. When they start talking about how little importance AWD is I had to roll my eyes. As someone who needs a year round vehicle driving int he rockies with snow you will come to realize the importance of AWD + snow tires in the mountains with snow. The RDX with SH-AWD is just nuts how competent it was this past winter. Just not really fun to drive like this would be.

If it had AWD it wouldn’t be an integra at all. It would weigh at least 600lb more, would need more HP and torque to move that weight, which means even higher price tag.

I still don't understand why people are complaining about no sunroof, no AWD, and no automatic. Go get the TLX Type S if you want a sunroof, AWD, and an automatic. At the same time, if you want a vehicle that is 1,000+ lbs heavier than the Integra Type S that is going to likely get dusted by the Integra Type S from a power to weight ratio standpoint and weighs as much as a RWD V8 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, but gets defeated by every car in its class and in its segment and out of its class and out of its segment, the TLX Type S is for you. Yes, it's a nice car, but cars like the M240i, M2, G70 3.3T, Kia Stinger GT, Lexus IS 350 F Sport, IS 500 F Sport, CT4-V non-Blackwing, CT4-V Blackwing, CT5-V non-Blackwing, CT5-V Blackwing, Audi RS3, S4, RS5 sportback, AMG C43, AMG C63 S, AMG E43, M340i, FK8 CTR, FL5 CTR, GR Corolla, MK8 Golf R, and again, the DE5 Integra Type S will all destroy the TLX Type S. Before anyone tries to discredit me for bringing up the CT5-V Blackwing, yes that costs way more than the TLX Type S and 313hp more 305lb-ft more than the TLX Type S, but it (the CT5-V Blackwing) still has the same amount of weight as the TLX Type S. If you want more weight in all corners, the TLX Type S is your thing.
Yes, I get that there are things that Acura sacrificed for the Integra Type S, but old Integra Type R's from the Japanese-spec DB8 Honda Integra Type R sedan, global-spec DC2 Acura Integra Type R liftback coupe, and DC5 RSX Type S were all 4 seaters, never had a sunroof, definitely were not AWD in North America, and manual transmission only. The DE5 ITS follows the same formula and stays true to the roots of its predecessor Type R and Type S siblings before it.
As for the price, nothing is going to cost the same from 1986-2006. The price of a DB8 if it were sold here in North America years instead of just being a Japan only vehicle, a DC2, and DC5 in today's times money equals out to what the DE5 Integra Type S is right now. This is a post-pandemic high inflation semi-recession economy we're living in here in the 2020s decade in 2023, 2024, and beyond. If you want this car, you got to pay-to-play and that involves picking up extra hours for overtime or get a 2nd job.
Everyone has a right to feel however they want about the car, good or bad, but if you're someone who's just being an absolute hater of this car, you're not the targeted audience for this car for starters and you can't afford it no way and these are the same people who say they will choose a German car over this when the options for those cars will cost them way more in price than the ITS. Tell me how that sounds without telling me how that sounds.
