    Thank you for having both child and adult sizes. We have 100 students in our elementary school, and every October we have Hat Day. We- are a few ladies, and this pattern will make lots of great hats for the kiddoes.❤😊

    Have just ordered one of these , arthritis and shoulder problems has limited my lifetime of knitting. I’m hoping I can use up a lot of my stash and produce beautiful hats like yours 😊 thank you for a very helpful video , you and another TH-camr have inspired me to try this machine 😊

      There is a drill bit attachment you can order on Amazon to put onto your knitting machine if you have difficulties with cranking the machine by hand.

      You might not be able to Goffstown, or do 180 rounds in 1 sitting, but it easy to set aside and come back.

    • @DianaLevineKnits

      That happened to me for awhile too! It depends a bit on the humidity, the kind of yarn. Sometimes the machines "like" a certain yarn better than other brands. I would try a different yarn!

      @kimberleypierce7981 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I saw someone who said their yard was "sticking " and not moving on the machine that great. She suggested running a Bounce sheet down your yarn as u go. It made it work better with that yarn.

    • @trishrobbins9942

      Some looms have shorter “teeth” and there is no way to work without dropping stitches. The Addi looms are expensive, but provide more successful projects because they are well made.

      You can achieve a finished look by wet blocking the hats. It’s what I do for all my yarn work. I use the steam from my iron holding it over, but not touching, the work and tapping the stitches even. Then I pin the piece down on a blocking board and with a small fan or hair dryer, begin gently drying it. I let it sit for 24 hours so the fibers will set properly in place. You can also use a small garment steamer for this method. I have a little cheap one I got from Amazon or Walmart that works well. I made a wool cardigan on my Incredible Sweater Machine and blocked it. I then lined it with double-brushed thick fleece but blocked the main piece first then inserted the constructed, sewn fleece inside. It came out so well my friends thought it was store-bought. Please don’t give up on the machine and your ability to make someone happy with a thing you’ve so lovingly made. Just take your time “playing” with it until you get the hang of it. Let your Inner Child take over, maybe, to help you enjoy your creativity? And no, I don’t work for the machine’s manufacturer, nor do I know the young lady of this channel; I’m just another fiber artist who has plenty of experience with hand and machine knitting. God Bless you! 🙏🏽

    • @joanieonie4135
      @joanieonie4135 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JCAM-z9r Good tip. Blocking is key. You don't need a special blocking board...straight pins into an ironing board work just as well.

    Looks like I’ve taken up the same hobby my Mom loved - making hats. She did all her hats by hand, which adds that touch of love but I wanted to take it up a notch by getting down quicker 😊 … Recently, lost my job due to health issues so I decided to learn how to crochet & a bell went off in my head to make hats like my Mom used to. Your video was so easy to follow, I can’t wait to make hats & scarves 🥰 - thanks for sharing!

  • @cookie761
    @cookie761 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    For those with larger heads, like mine, you would want to do the adult hat on the Sentro machine. The Addi machine has less needles and a smaller gauge.... so it makes a smaller hat I can't wear hats that are made on that machine unless it's real soft yarn. Thank you so much for these patterns. I may look into getting your pattern book. I don't see anywhere the weight of the yarn you used. Is it a number 4 or number 3? I believe the Sentro is 48 needles and Addi is 44. The gauges are also different.

    • @DianaLevineKnits
      @DianaLevineKnits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I always use Weight 4 yarn, it's just my preference personally. And definitely go with the Sentro if you want a larger hat. All knitting machine hats fit a little snug, but the Sentro is 2 needles larger so it's a bit bigger than the Addi for hats!

    Question ❓❓❓ some videos you let the project slide off the needles on it's own and other ones like this you run the yarn thru with the darning needle and do it by hand. Why? How do you know which ones are ok to roll off and which to take care of? Ps I do appreciate any time you give as much as I do the videos I'm learning from ❤️

    • @DianaLevineKnits
      @DianaLevineKnits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi! I think you're referring to the scrap yarn cast on/off or picking the stitches up. Generally for a hat, you pick the stitches up at the end (because you'll be cinching the stitches closed) but if you want the piece to be flat, you use a scrap yarn cast off, which looks like the stitches falling off themselves. Hope that helps! Scrap yarn helps keep the stitches "live" so you can crochet them closed.

I bought my machine and it arrived and i tried with the yarn they sentvwith it, but I continuasly has three stiches falling, so I tried with the same brand you used here and seems it will be Ok. I am mosfly bothered with the noise it makes. It seems like it needs "oil". If it continues to drop the stiches it is going back. Hope all works...

    Thanks for sharing! So you can make a childs hat with the 48 needle machine? I'm in the market for one and want to make sure I order the correct item. Thanks again.

    Thank you for the great video. Very helpful. Can you tell me about the gloves you wear?

      Thanks for watching! I started wearing them when I film my videos because it helps my lens autofocus on my hands :) Otherwise the focus goes in an out and it's super annoying to constantly get the focus back! And then I just kind of got used to wearing them TBH, it's nice for when tying a lot of knots etc. They are linked in the description of the video if you want to order a pair! They are just regular fashion gloves, not particularly warm or supportive or anything.

    I enjoyed your tutorial but I have had to discontinue the use of the feed on my Sentro because the feed caused my machine to drop stitches. Other than that I think I will be able to produce a lot more with the machine and your beautiful hat patterns.
