I just came across this a couple of days ago and today I thought I would give it a try. It didn't come out too bad. The biggest thing I noticed is keeping the tension tight and not letting it get too loose. Other than that, I found the process very doable. Thank you so much for your time making this video. If I can figure out how to post a pic of it I will.
Wow thats awsome, i am gonne give it a try on sleeves, it's seems fearly easy to put on and it looks like so much work had to be done to achieve it Thank you for sharing this tip !

There are times when I don't have any dropped stitches, but there are times when I can't use it because I have too many dropped stitches. So depends on every skein of yarn.

I'm sure that you will love your new Addi! (you got it for a good price considering that we are in Canada). Sorry to hear about your husband. Keeping you busy crocheting and knitting is a good idea.
I will be trying this pattern immediately! I'm curious how when you use the drill, you don't drop stitches or get weird doubled-up stitches. I'm struggling with them and I'm manually turning at a medium pace. If I want be certain the stitches will be perfect, I have to watch every single stitch get placed.
I don't use a drill, I use an electric screw driver because it is not so fast as a drill. Anyway, I can't use it all the time because some yarns split and give me lots of tucked stitches. Usually I knit around 10 rounds without the screw driver and then I try to see if i can crank with the screw driver. It helps if I put weights on the tube like in this video th-cam.com/video/-uTNGfVW0m4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hLYMa6NoXUww2nlZ (here you can see the weight even though I didn't use the screw driver).

With one machine you can make different sizes. If you have a knitting machine with 46, or 48 needles then you can make different sizes. The "secret" to get a smaller circumference for the baby hat vs the adult hat is in the tension. Run the yarn through the smaller hole of the tension fork (closest to the machine). If the yarn is too thick and it doesn't go through the tension fork, then run the yarn through your hand keeping a tight tension. If your machine has 40 needles, then you can make baby hats using the medium tension, or the one that is best for your yarn.
