What really got me was that Wong so easily confessed to there being copes of the Darkhold spells. Like, he was literally risking the fate of the entire multiverse for 5 sorcerers. Sure, they didn't deserve to die but they are guardians of the world and of magic. It's their literal job to die if they need to to prevent things like this from happening.
Wong did lots of nonsensical things just to drive the plot. Isn't there a part where a sorcerer sneaks up on Wanda to stop her dream walking crap, but the sorcerer doesn't even try to free Wong from his binds ?! 😂
And it's literally Wong's personality to like not break the rules and do whatever it takes to protect something like the Multiverse. I mean come on, he was willing to sacrifice America without hesitation, and always warns Strange about using spells that can impact the Multiverse. It is so not like Wong to just give up the Mount Wondagore location just for a couple sorcerers who already looked dead...
And can we all just agree Wanda is a hypocrite by killing off Mr. Fantastic after he said that he has a family and kids and she dismisses it? Like at least say something meaningful.
Bruh she’s willing to kill her alternate self to be with her kids, she only cares about herself and I mean her actual self not the other copies from various universes. I thought that was made pretty clear.
@@jamalakinade8175 she cares more than anything about her kids/family and says so many times how it’s not fair/hypocritical when strange uses the same logic to save the UNIVERSE. Then she basically goes “yeah well idc about your family”
But the sad part is that even the last line, “I love you in every universe” was over shadowed with the movie “everything everywhere all at once” which delivered the line way more powerfully and emotionally-actually, it did better everything this movie was supposed to do in every single aspect. This is comedy, not horror.
Loved it. I wouldn't have seen it, but my favorite reviewer Movie Bob said it was excellent and he has never steered me wrong (also told me to go watch Pacific Rim and that is one of my favorites.) Everywhere all at once is just perfect absurdist humor action that had me laughing out loud in my theatre.
Everything Everywhere All at Once may quite possibly be one of the best movies ever made. It balances everything it does do well and tells such a great story that I was still thinking about it days later.
dude forreal!! EEAAO is indirectly responsible of showing us why MVOM does not work. EEAAO shows how a complex, potentially incredibly confusing, fast-paced movie can still have nuance, creativity, relatability, and all sorts of other things people would never expect. It's truly brilliant and the best movie of 2022.
The actual fact that Wanda’s arc has gone from “what is grief but love persevering” straight to “hey lets murder because this book said so.” Is absolute horse sh**. Why tf did they take such a good foundation and turn it to rubble?

Rocket's best friend sacrificed himself, then the only family he ever knew got Snapped. Dr. Strange sacrificed himself on the hope that his single timeline was the right choice. @@silverscorpio24 The writers are just trying to continue the story, Wanda vision wasn't the first time we saw her. How many people has she saved in the previous MCU movies? She was influced by her loss of Vision, it seems mental illness/stress and her powers aren't a great mix. Maybe it's less of "the writers pretending she's a good person" and more that it's the logical conclusion of Wanda snapping back into reality. Wanda in WV was not sane, and then it was magnified with the darkhold. This video seems to be the breeding ground of a lot of haters though lol, it's weird too when so many fans/non-fans and critics loved this movie.

I’m glad someone’s finally brought up Marvel’s multiverse shtick. It feels like Marvel thinks they’ve run out of ideas and their only option is to use characters fans love just for nostalgia-bait Sure the Spidermen in No Way Home were used for fanservice, but at least they served a purpose in that movie
When you create a character that can pick which of the infinite multiverses that have an infinite number of possibilities. You create the ultimate ass pull device. Oh there’s a problem I can’t beat? Let me just teleport to the multiverse of super overpowered captain America to beat thanos again
No Way Home really felt like an "AND THEN" movie. It's rather convenient for a multiverse movie to stop at certain bankable nostalgia elements and then go no further. Only Sony's villains? Only Sony's Spideys? Also, Sony should just admit they don't want a Sinister Six movie. SM3 had Spidey and Harryass Goblin fight Sandman and Venom, so there's a fair fight, and Amazing Spidey 2 had Spidey fight Rhino, KnobGoblin, and Electro... SEPARATELY - the movie poster basically lied. We're never getting a 1v6 movie, cuz that requires an insane talent in screenwriting, and last time I checked, Ernest Lehman is dead.
I’m so upset because Strange and Wanda were some of my favorite characters and they completely did them dirty in WV and MOM. I already hated the messaging at the end of WV where they say “They’ll never know what you sacrificed for them” as if those poor town people were in the wrong for resenting Wanda for MIND SLAVING THEM TO THE POINT OF BEGGING FOR THE SWEET RELEASE OF DEATH. At least in WV, Wanda did show some remorse in the end so I thought maybe she would repent for what she did. BUT NO. She does a 180 and turns completely remorseless in MOM murdering multiple people including a PARENT, just to bring back some fake kids that never even existed. If you’re going to make a character who was feeling remorse and guilt for their actions turn supervillain like Wanda does in MOM, you don’t just do that instantly. That’s just not how humans work. At least show the process of her getting corrupted and descending into madness first rather than suddenly turning her bad because ‘oh motherly love blah blah blah’. It makes me angry that MCU painted WANDA, who was clearly in the wrong in WV as the sympathetic VICTIM and then proceeded to make her into an absolute devil in MOM. On top of that, Strange doesn’t even play a big role in HIS OWN MOVIE. In the end, who’s the one who defeats Wanda? America and Wanda herself(Sure, America did fight Wanda off but in the end the only reason Wanda was defeated was because she seppukued herself after realizing for herself what a horrible person she’s become). What significance did Strange even have in this movie? He didn’t do much besides magic rap battling an evil version of him(Seriously, their fight made me laugh so much and I don’t even know if that was intended or not). And when things finally seemed to get somewhat compelling, I realized it was the end of the movie. I had high hopes for this movie since, once again, Strange is one of my favorite heroes. And the more I think of this movie, the more angry I get. I’m probably being nitpicky at this point, but it seems I’m not the only one here.
None of your points were nitpicky at all. And tbh the "motivational speech" was terrible. Strange doing that was simply the wrong decision to make in that instant. He had no reason at all to think her power could do more than create portals, and had even less reason to believe she could actually do anything with those powers. The only thing he could do in that moment is tell her "im sorry kid" then cut her head off for the fate of all of existence.
Wow.... This is just wow.. You just vocalized everything I felt, this is the first time I've ever seen anyone express the truth. Because wanda vision and multiverse of madness we're already out at the time I decided to watch them I quite literally binged all of wanda vision and went straight to seeing her as this corrupted monster..... I still can't adjust
The quote in WandaVision in fact refered to the sacrifice she made during Infinity War. The show is not blaming the people to resent Wanda, it’s blaming Wanda for having made all she did. I don’t get why everyone is upset about Wanda turning dark. She was always an antihero, in Age of Ultron she quits her post when her brother dies, which causes the town to fall, and then in Civil War she loses control of her power and causes the death of civilians. Wanda was always the most controversial Avengers, everyone saw her as a dangerous threat. So I have no problem in believing that after losing the only person who sees her as normal she is ready to do everything to be happy again.
Wanda was always an antihero, she managed to control herself when she was with the Avengers, but the suffering she endured during her journey were never adressed in any movies after Avengers 2. I don’t get why everyone is upset that Wanda turned evil. It’s Wanda, the one who nearly caused the fall of the Sokovia on earth by abandoning her surveillance post, and who caused a lot of civilian damages in Lagos. In the government eyes she is already a dangerous public enemy. The only reason she is not punished is because she is too powerful and can’t be condemned.
In the comics, Wanda may have started on the wrong side of things (I blame bad parenting if you know who I mean), but after that, she was always a hero. She was a member of the West Coast Avengers & Force Works (among other groups). She didn't become "basket case/villain" until after Marvel comics new bosses took over & decided to slander/kill off all of the established heroes just so that they could introduce a bunch of teenaged non-white replacements because a vocal minority demanded it. Hopefully, the comics just die at this point, because like Disney, they're not backing off on this bs.
I hate how evil characters get rewarded for all of the horrible things and like "it's okay you've killed thousands of people, but hey you realized you are bad and know all of your past misdeeds is erased, now let's go and get a beer", disgusting 🤢
well Marvel heroes kill also thousands of people but are being held as heroes...when I watched hawkeye I just couldnt help but see Clint as a villain...total villain...going around killing people and then he has the audacity to believe that he should gt away with all of this :D and Kate Bishop is like " But he saved the world...so it doesnt matterthat he is a literal serial killer" like wtf...Clint didnt vn save the world because he wanted to save the world...he did it cause he wanted his family back :D I just dont like how some characters are villains and others are heroes eventhough both kill people :D they literally wreck cities , kill thousands and then say " hey we did it...we saved the day" :D:D

The most annoying thing is how there always has to be a new hero introduced in each movie. Even in Moonknight who JUST joined the MCU they had to give the other lady powers by the end. It’s like they can’t just focus on one character.
Yea, I wouldn't mind if they did that in season 2 or season 3. But they barely show the main character, and they were like hey lets introduce the new character and throw away the main character.
She needed the powers to make her interesting. The character was poorly developed and the acting was stiff. Her getting powers made her more relevant to the plot. But yeah that's a stupid way to write the story. Marvel keeps failing its female characters by not giving them original stories written by women.

I’m glad someone called out the writing, I was starting to think I missed something because not many people weren’t mentioning it. The dialogue was so wooden, often merely the characters stating their feelings or opinions on each other with no subtlety. Characters betray their previous motivations, and scenes are extremely contrived. The memory machine especially felt like a placeholder from a draft, like they didn’t feel like actually writing a believable relationship where Dr. Strange and Amerika Chavez build up to being more open with each other and so just have a random machine show each other their scars. It never even comes back in any way, like it wasn’t a set up just a contrived way to show Amerika’s backstory.
The memory store is where the movie completely broke me. I laughed in the theater. I don’t think I can go back and watch this one again, much like the majority of phase four-no way home being the exception. Thanks for dropping in the comments and for watching the vid!

I have 4 things to say. This movie was so bad. 1. this movie confused me so bad. Wasn't Strange's whole shtick that he wasn't afraid to make sacrifices for the greater good? That's why he's stoic and it's super useful to have an established character like that. It's what made him so instrumental in IW. It's pretty grim but you can't deny MANY people died so that one girl, America, could live. Those lives would have been saved had she been.... not saved. Strange seemed willing to make sacrifices in Infinity War but they wanted to introduce America and make a new movie so they just rewrote his character for no reason. I swear I'm gonna be so mad if after this movie they try and have him do the whole "I'm not afraid to let you die" thing again. Although I wouldn't be surprised in the least. 2. It's been months since I've seen this movie and I still am utterly shocked that this multi-million visual STORYTELLING company had their characters go to a literal FLASHBACK MACHINE. That's something I'd be secondhand embarrassed to see in a 9 year old's Frozen 2 fancfiction. a FLASHBACK MACHINE. For heaven's sake. 3. Back to Strange.. The question of "Are you happy?" Is an interesting one I guess, but it was his only arc and it had no bearing on the plot. So what if he wasn't happy in his role? The multiverse would be just fine. It's not like he COULD marry Christine, so why is the question important? It's not even a driving factor on the plot, it's literally a mini side plot. 4. Did... did they know they were going to do literally nothing with Mordo when they gave him all the screentime in DS1?? He was set up as SUCH a compelling villian who had to watch his entire worldview collapse as the person he trusted betrayed him (the Ancient One dabbling in dark power) and had him vow to kill Doctor Strange. All that set up and the payoff LITERALLY happened OFFSCREEN in a throwaway line from Strange ("You dedicated ur life to killing me" or whatever i'm not watching it again). That is incomprehensible. No, the Other Mordo doesn't count. He's not our Mordo. I simply cannot believe they threw him away like that. this movie made me hate the MCU. I used to be so into it, watched every movie and show. Now, Thor 4 came and went and I barely noticed, much less went to see it. They clearly don't care about their own movies, so why should I?
there were actually concept panels & ideas from a while ago (i think from scott derickson's team?) that set up the sequel for doctor strange that the ogs were envisioning. based on what they looked like i would give so much to have that movie be made
For your first point, honestly I think that's not a bad thing, Strange being the one to hold the knife, I mean. Yeah like you said, it might sound cold and harsh, but that's what his character is and especially for him as a former surgeon. In medical, there's something called "triage", basically sorting patients based on priority of their required treatment designated to maximize the number of survivors, and that's not a bad thing. Hell, he'd stab the knife to himself if it's what it takes to save everyone (case in example, his first movie). His own happiness means shit if he has patient to be saved. Being a sorcerer is the same. Yes, many wouldn't agree with that, but look at IW and his first movie. Whose decision was it that saved all of them in the end? Man, I just can't with how they butchered Strange and my dream of a good sequel as Doctor Strange's fan.
Another huge problem with Disney / Marvel is that they truly don't know how to write a strong female character. They have no idea how to make a female heroic or believable, which is why we always end up with cringey feminists filling shoes they don't belong in. With that being said... Wanda is def the most enjoyable female character imo.
I work at a movie theater and I can absolutely confirm how bad the pacing was by the fact that EVERY TIME the movie would start people would come out to ask me if they were in the right theater because they would most likely think they went into a theater that was midway through the movie. 10/10 pacing.
That probably had less to do with the pacing and more to do with the fact this movie was a sequel to a Disney+ series that the majority of movie-goers did not see. The references to Wanda enslaving a town and the dream sequence with her kids was pretty confusing for people who expected a continuation of Endgame or Spider-Man No Way Home.
@@Yosemite_sam694 No no these were people who had gone in already, I know this cause the theater 1 doors (Our biggest theater screen room) is within eyesight of where I take tickets. Previews are 7 minutes on average. This is one of if not the only movies this has happened with afaik. People are morons so I just attributed it to a combination of confused folk and the pacing.
I’m a massive mcu Stan and i can’t even justify anything about this movie, it’s horrible, it’s hilarious how we can go from arguably one of the best marvel movies made, to this piece of crap
One of the best marvel movies in a while I feel like, I don’t think it compares to older movies, but compared to dr strange 2 and most of the marvel tv shows, it’s really good
The biggest offender of this movie to me, was the way Marvel hyped it up with the whole "this is going to be the mcu's first horror movie" as if they were going to go full IT chapters 1 and 2 or Nightmare on Elm Street, and not even delivering on it in the slightest. Speaking of nightmares, not making Nightmare the main villain of this movie was such a missed opportunity, especially if they really wanted to go with the horror element. When they announced Wanda was going to be in this movie I wasn't opposed to it, but making her the main antagonist was a decision u can definitely tell they made last minute after they saw how popular her character grew with Wandavision
It's even worse when you realize that Nightmare was the villain of the original script for Multiverse, and then Waldron decided to not use him because "Marvel wanted to do a Multiverse film". No. Seriously. That was his reasoning.
@@LiquidTurbo More like he left due to creative differences. But yeah, really would've preferred he'd stayed on. Like he’s a ruthless genocidal maniac yet he spares the avengers lives for plot because if he just unleashed his full power with those stones the movie would have been 30 minutes long at most.
This movie is the perfect example of why Thanos worked as a villain and Wanda doesn't. Thanos went through something tragic in his young life and so he decided that no one else should suffer the same fate. He was in the wrong and we all know that but the reason it worked was because we are able to understand the problems of over-population, hell, some places suffer from it. He wanted to balence it out, kill billions so trillions could prosper (way more than that but you get it). He even went as far as to sacrifice his own daughter that he cared about so he could "save" the universe. Wanda was sad that Vision died (understandable) so she justfied that it was okay to enslave an ENTIRE town, threaten the people that are trying to stop her and then go after not only a child but kill hundreds of people just so she can kill another version of her and take her kids. In his mind Thanos was destroying people for the greater good, Wanda was doing for a selfish reason
They did every character in this movie dirty. They made strange a one dimensional character. They ruined Wanda’s character arch from wandavision. They made America Chavez some helpless damsel in distress which is FAR from the character in the comics. And made Wong look incredibly weak and did nothing the entire film

I honestly never get tired of that segment with Trey Parker and Matt Stone explaining the difference between "and then" vs "therefore/but" storytelling. I'm glad someone else had the nerve to point this out. That's the whole reason I wasn't the biggest fan of No Way Home, because the whole scenario didn't need to happen in the first place. The characters just made stupid choices to force the storyline the writers (and fans) apparently wanted.
The Illuminati scene was the dumbest shit I have ever seen. I completely agree with what you say in the video about it. Strange seems to be that character you beat to gain some recognition now. 'look she/he made strange look like a noob. They are powerful.' rather then him being one of, if not the most, powerful person in the universe.
As someone who really REALLY enjoyed Doctor Strange 1, Multiverse of Madness really felt like I traded away steak and potatoes for a 30 year old burger and rotten fries. So much for "honoring its legacy." The entire movie is really an example of what's wrong with Phase 4.
The main reason why this film made little sense and the plot did not work was simple. Based upon Wandavision, the Scarlet Witch should be a VILLAIN, straight out moving forward. But they wanted to make her still be a "Avenger" in the upcoming movies, so had to gloss over all the horrible things she does to make that work. A former hero turning bad based on tragedy is very common in comics, so it would have made so much more sense for that to happen. Plus, she was wayyyyy to OP in this movie and it just ruined any believability.
I am so, so late replying to this but the question as to why people hate this movie bubbled up in my mind and it lead me here. Haha! As for your comment, this is how she is in the comics as well. I mean she does so many messed up things and it feels as though it's swept under the rug. As for her being OP in the movie... she's CRAZY OP in the comics as well. I mean she can control reality itself. That's god-tier. In the House of M, this woman straight wiped the mutant gene from most of the mutants in earth! She uttered, "No more mutants" and bam, no more mutants. That's insane power.
@@genefactor007 Yes. It is the superman problem. The only way to make such a character compelling is: 1. To have them lose powers 2. Make the hero battle more than one person or someone just as powerful (Superman 2) 3. Inner conflict about the power (Superman and Wonder Woman). But in Marvel it really does not work and even if the comic has it, it is still boring.
@@bobross1829 To this I completely agree and I really dig your example. As a kid I was a HUGE Superman fan but my tastes completely changed as an adult. Now, for me, Batman and Daredevil are go-to heroes because I find them more interesting. Ground level heroes are simply more fun to read in my opinion. I feel when they are too powerful, they become the unfortunate victims of benchmarking and some crazy stuff is usually thrown their way to make them interesting. The way Scarlet Witch is often written always get under my skin. I mean, she does some really messed up stuff but yet she's still treated like a hero. That's something you mentioned that was totally true. However I think the way she was written in MoM worked because it dived further into her broken psyche. I also loved the Jason-like horrible aspect of her coming for them as this unstoppable force. Fun stuff. What didn't work for me goes back to Wandavision. Like, how many marbles did she lose when Vision kicked it? Was she able to hold it together just long enough to assist in taking down Thanos before completely going off the rails? I don't know. All in all I very much enjoyed MoM and Wanda was actually a big part of why. She kills it as the crazy villain.
@@genefactor007 I did not like MOM at all. It was boring and actually kind of insulting the way she went through every character. Wandavision was fine until the end just because the concept was so novel
The scene where they stand on those holographic platforms that show their most important memories made me want to leave the theater. And then seeing that Chavez killed her moms when a bee got near her just made it unbearable. It's supposed to be her deepest wound, but I laughed in the moment. Horrific writing. Raimi's direction was one of the high points for me, at least it was fun. Marvel Studios seems hell bent on destroying all the good will they worked so hard for over the first 23 movies as quickly as they can, just take-the-money-and-run.
Marvel is going all out to Push the female characters. First it was Captain Marvel. Then Black Widow now this. There will be more as they really want to hit the female power agenda
You know actually in my head, I thought this would be very different. I thought the Loki show and the Wanda and Vision were setting up something huge for Strange to figure out and fix. But no. No Loki. No Vision. Just all the wrong beats.
During the whole movie while Wanda was talking about her kids, all I could think of is…..what about vision? Does she not know there’s another vision around? Why is her alternate universe self a single mom with no vision? I just couldn’t help but find that weird. And even though they explained how the kids were real in another universe, the explanation of dreams being visions of alternate selves in universes seemed pretty complicated
(beware: This is a long one) Doctor Strange is definitely in my top 5 MCU characters, but even I have to agree that he is better off as a supporting character. And that's entirely the writers' fault. Like you said, Stephen has no arc in this movie. Except for the 'arc' they tried to push onto his character. They tried to push this loneliness and need for control that Strange has when that clearly isn't true nor is shown in any other movie. Sure, Stephen might be lonely underneath all his forgotten trauma (Don't worry, I'll get to that later) and whatever, but this man certainly isn't lacking people to talk to. He has his best friend Wong, who isn't exactly a therapist nor has the time to be one, but they are still shown to be together very often. He has his ex-girlfriend, and even though she found love during the blip, didn't want Strange to talk about his feelings. In fact, she literally encouraged him to do so. Stephen also seems to be in good standing with the Avengers, as nobody blames him for Tony's death and is even amical with him. Of course, like I said earlier, you can be lonely while still being surrounded by people, but let's be honest here: Going with the "Are you happy/aka are you sad you're single" was stupid. The second character trait they tried to push is the "Always holding the knife" one. Again, could be some sort of underlying issue for Stephen, but is in no way something we've seen throughout any of his appearances. In Ragnorok, No Way Home and Endgame it was clear he was allowing other characters their moments to shine and was really only controlling about his little thing (Removing Loki from Earth, Keeping the multiverse from collapsing on itself and letting events play out as they should). You could argue that NWH was a tad bit controlling on his part, but look at the context and it's clear why. In Stephen's major roles, like DS1 and Infinity war he also didn't exhibit this problem. Infinity war he literally gave up control and hoped that the remaining Avengers would do it right, and though I can't give any specific examples of how he gave up/didn't take full control there wasn't any instance that clearly showed the opposite. Hell, the final battle was literally based on the "You don't have true control but neither do I" concept. It makes no sense why they chose these things to push and not anything relevant to Stephen other than the fact that it loosely relates to Wanda as well. Now you might be thinking "Well do you have any better ideas?". Yes, yes I do. Stephen has gone through so much that could easily be a character plot point. He has physically died hundreds of times and seen himself and others die millions of times. He could have severe guilt over the fact that he was partly responsible for Tony's death (I mean, that's debatable but whatever). Oh, and, you know, THE HANDS. Instead of pushing these random things that don't relate to Stephen, we could've gotten a "Man lost in time" arc where Stephen regains his sense of reality through experiencing other multiverses and grounding himself in his universe. This way, we could actually mention the time stone which was one of the most important plotlines in DS1 and actually shows some of the effects the infinity stones have on its user. Why does Jane almost die because of the reality stone, Gamora and Nat die because of the soul stone, the Tesseract and power stone cause intense conflicts, but the time stone and its user are unphased? Not to mention this plotline could also relate to Wanda since they could also make it so her view on reality is distorted because of dream walking. Keep in mind I'm not a movie-writer, nor do I intend to be, but it's really not that hard to think of basic plot points that would actually be relevant. Here are a few more! -Grief. Wanda's grief with the loss of her children and vision. Stephen's grief with the loss of Tony, Christine to an extent, and all his friends from Karmar-taj were murdered (We're looking at you Master Hamir) -Pain. Kind of plays into the grief aspect, but Wanda's emotional pain and Stephen's physical pain. Severe nerve damage is no joke, you know. -Finding love and peace in what you have. Kind of self-explanatory -Getting over your past self. Stephen with his neurosurgeon-ness, Wanda with Westview. Another reason why MCU is ruining Stephen Strange is: They can't decide how powerful he is. Is he the future GOAT sorcerer supreme who breaks the multiverse open within the span of 2 minutes and takes on 4 infinity stones, or is he the weakling who can't untie himself from the mirror dimension HE CONTROLS within less than twelve hours and doesn't even bother to try put up a fight against Wanda. It's really discouraging to see Marvel waste a character with so much potential magic-wise and only use him as something to move plots along. It makes you wonder what they are going to do with future characters. They also haven't set up any boundaries with Eldrith magic. At least with Chaos magic we have some idea on how powerful it is and what its weaknesses and attributes are. Eldrith magic can do whatever the hell the plot needs. Traverse and control other dimensions? You got it. Turn literal black holes into life? Yep. Brainwash entire planets? Totally! Portal anywhere in the universe without actually seeing it first? Why not. Conjure and make items disappear? You guessed it I know it's canon that Chaos magic is more powerful then any other magic, but tbh I'd rather the kind of magic that allows me to do whatever the hell I want with no restraints. Not only that, but trained sorcerers are also martial artists. Why the hell is Dr Strange scared of Wanda when he can just make her forget that Billy and Tommy ever existed? Terrible writing, that's the answer. Anyways I could go on and on about this, but I do not want to spend the next 5 years writing about Mister Doctor Stephen Strange
There is a far *worse* issue with this film, that I really wish I saw people talk about. This film had the chance to do something great with the the Doctor, but that's where they actually did the worst. My main issue with this movie was strange himself, specifically his trial with the Illuminati. Throughout all of the MCU, we get the impression that Steve keeps violating rules in order to accomplish what he saw as the "greater good" or "the only way" and there was an implication there he always overlooked the drawbacks from this. I thought his trial with the Illuminati was going to show that those consequences were, and show him that his ends did not always justify his means. The film even has *multiple* moments where other characters call him out on it and label it as "hypocrisy" on his part, despite their arguments actually being bad since it was (according to him) the only way. Wanda and many others wanna call him out for putting "The only way" before everyone else, when he was actually in the right. The film *ignores* this, and has Strange stare at them all dumbfounded, as though he's actually been caught up in hypocrisy. The way they had to get out of this was to simply say that "Yes, it was the only way, but don't pretend that you can just play God and do as you please just because something you do is "The only way" " And did the film do that? NO Instead, the film decides to invent *a completely different Strange,* put *our* Strange on trial for what the other guy did, and then *almost immediately* forgive him since "he isn't the same guy". Hell, they didn't even have the same Mordo guy from the end-credit scene of the first Dr. Strang movie who wanted to kill him for violating the laws. It almost feels like this movie didn't even happen. This film had a perfect opportunity to give him a meaningful character arc, one that was built upon from way back in the first Dr. Strange movie, and it copped out of it by just inventing a Strange who made a mistake and almost caused an incursion, and an evil Strange for the (first) final battle. *What a wet fart.*
Yeah. I feel like NWH handled this better, with Stephen and Peter being in conflict with each other, but end up being right about some things and wrong about others. But yeah. It infuriates me how incomplete Stephen's arc feels in this movie. I like them introducing the idea of Stephen being dangerous because of his need to fix everything, which the What If...? episode demonstrated perfectly. But they forgot a key component to it; his trauma. It would be so easy to link those two things together, but nope. We only get hints of it. And apparently, Feige thought this was better than what Derrickson wanted to do.
You make such a good point! What an AMAZING story and issue it would have been to tackle his "Ends justify the means" philosophy!! Because that exact philosophy literally saved the universe from Thanos. It would be a way to further dismantle his ego as well. In DS1, his ego is dismantled by him needing to submit to the other sorcerers in order to learn, but we see his ego sort of reignite in the following films, in his constant, CONSTANT rule-bending, taking control of yet another role. You'd think they meant to do that, but it seems not! I just hope they kill him off soon before they ruin his character any further.
I’m glad more ppl are coming out and holding Marvel accountable. I’m a huge Marvel fan but phase 4 has been complete and utter garbage. IMO Loki was the only decent thing to come out, I just watched Thor and my goodness tf are they doing ?
I think Moon Knight was really good as well. Mostly because it wasn't used to set up other MCU projects and was just it's own thing. The acting was really good, the CGI wasn't an eyesore and the story was interesting.
@@godabandonedthistimeline Moon Knight was ok, I feel it dragged just a bit but then episode 5 came and hit me right in the feels with that scene where he was a kid being abused by him moms. I’d say Ms. Marvel is probably better IMO
Totally agree... this phase been so bad I'm losing interest.... it feels like rinse wash repeat stories... then you watch a show like the boys and that's been better than everything marvel has done since Infinity War with ease.... easily... and the more mature content is what I want... marvel with their super corny humor in every damn scene has got old
I haven’t checked out Moon Knight because of time / having other things to review / being burned by most of Phase Four. I’ll have to check it out after so many recommendations.
Can we just agree that Wanda calling Strange a hypocrite for dream walking while she herself is even a bigger hypocrite for killing Reed Richards, a guy with a family just so she can be with her family that doesn't even exist (in her universe specificly) like "Out of my way or you die" "I know how it feels, I have a family too" "Who cares about your family, I want mine" *Turns Richards into Blue Takis Spicy Noodles*
Thank you for pointing out the fact that Wanda could just find another Vision who's Wanda died in that universe instead of her 'kids'. I find a lot of people forget that her 'kids' don't exist in WandaVision. And if she does find her so called children, then who's the father? It can't be Vision. He's not human. So even if she do find them, she didn't had them with Vision in that universe. Honestly, this whole movie feels too complicated for its own good.
Dark books don’t exist and neither do alternate universes. Yet you question Vision being able to reproduce? Eternals can also reproduce and they’re basically robots
@@Erik_Montesinos you're trying to make an excuse for the movie being bad, its not working. Celestials and vision are different, they are not made the same way.
@@pedrocarbonaro7837 celestials wtf? Celestials are gigantic of course they don’t reproduce like us. they explained in the movie that they are born using the energy of the population. And there are plenty of other reasons why this movie is terrible. Also Vision is part organic and has tissue just like humans. Not a robot like everyone claims
Phase III is hard to follow. It was a finale to a decade long arc. That being said, it still doesn't excuse how directionless Phase IV seems. I know these films make money, and most fans eat it up with no qualms. It's cinematic fast food. Easy to digest, entertaining, sometimes visually striking, but often forgettable due to the relatively predictable nature of them. They use to feel cohesive, though. Phase IV feels like everything is becoming convoluted and bloated.
I can say the same about a lot of films these days, I’m honestly saddened by the fact most movies or shows don’t really interest me anymore, it’s consumerism, we humans take and take so much that at some point it won’t be enough, they want to consume more money and we want to consume more entertainment, no one ever has patience or time to ever make something good anymore…..
The lack of focus on Strange was the most annoying thing. He barely drove the plot, if it all. Wanda and America are the ones pushing him. He never makes an important decision. I love his character and I love how Cumberbatch portrays him. I love the creative visuals. But there is no moment similar to the car crash or conversation with the Ancient One in DS1 in this movie.
I re-watched the first Doctor Strange before doing my review. I had forgotten just *how good* that movie was. Multiverse of Madness feels more like a sequel to WandaVision than it does to Strange’s first movie. Cumberbatch is *so good* as Strange, who’s such a fantastic character, it was almost heartbreaking to watch.
@@tkm1875 Who cares about how "cool" Wanda is? I wanted to watch a Doctor Strange movie and I ended up watching a movie about a character who in the comics was Jewish and Romani but in these movies she is a white woman who volunteered for a Nazi organization to gain powers, actually behaving like the villain she was introduced as, and I was supposed to feel bad about her for not living with the kids she never even had
I didn't care for this film either. Although I don't blame Sam Raimi for that. In fact, his overall stamp on the film was really the only thing that I DID like. You said that you believe most of the problems with this film lie within the script. I believe you're correct about that.
“Characters are getting rolled over to make new ones” that is so true! It seems like most of their recent movies are just about creating hype for future movies, with little thought going into the movie itself
TBH I liked the Spiderman movie with Dr. Strange much better than this movie. I knew how the Disney agenda works, emasculate every hero to make the women look tougher and smarter. Dr. Strange was stuck in a shit sandwich.
@@hectorrico8661 ikr I heard some conspiracy Disney/mcu want to create SW 🧹 who looks more powerful like Fox's Jean Grey 💥 So weird really How they nerfed doctor strange in his own film 💀
You see thats whats crazy. Loved the first dr strange and it had plenty of character growth. I think the issue is they dont know how to handle a character like him and show further changes. Thats also why a lot of movies dont have super smart characters because it takes actual research to write someone smarter thab yourself
it wasnt that bad - relax lol. Its about at the same level as black panther. Mostly mediocre, but with heart, and something basically positive that you can walk away from.
I agree unfortunately. Each show/movie since endgame seems to be worse than the one preceding it. Im afraid the MCU might be slowly going the way of Star Wars.
@@rhaenyralikesyoutube6289 and even an end is a beginning, give the MCU a break, the movies are ok to great, with the only non great movie is Eternals. They’re slowly building to something, not every movie is gonna be a winner, but most of them are
Most of the problems are resolved when you remember that originally wandavision was meant to come AFTER multiverse of madness. Maybe we need to shift their places in the timeline.
@@BrokenSIMGlasses excuse me sir WandaVision was amazing. What do you mean both shows are badly written? We got to see Wanda experience actual pain and growth in WandaVision and her character actually had an amazing story with so much potential for a good vs evil inside her sort of thing but they ruined it all with this shit piece of a movie. Oh she read a book and guess she is evil now... good luck!
@@assemyounis8987 The dialogues. The dialogues in the second half of WandaVision are badly written. Especially the ones that includes Monica Rambo and guns. They also undermine the consequences of what Wanda has done and all punishment goes to Agatha and some officer who wanted to free the townfolks. Short pet peeve they blueballs us about the Multiverse and X-Men with Evan Peter's appearance only to set up a joke in a show only to confirm it 2 shows later. Hope that answers your question about how WandaVision is badly written. I do credit the show for having a strong start and interesting concept sadly it wasn't well executed by the end. If you enjoy the show good for you cuz most of us also did but you should atleast understand that the show was flawed.
U can tell making Wanda the main antagonist of the film was a last decision they made after they saw the way Wanda's character grew in popularity after Wandavision
I dont think NWH had a nearly Perfect Doctor Strange either, actually I think he is as bad as he is in MoM, Peter took his portal ring and “kept” him in the mirror dimension but in the first movie he doesn’t need it to get out, then his motivations are completely off from his attitude in the movies before “I dont care if you or the kids die I will protect the stone”, and his powers are completely off of what he is able to do in the movie, is like at the beginning he is powerful af and then at other moment he can’t do anything… Doctor Strange is mismanaged in NWH as well as in MoM
Yeah I think NWH also gets far too much praise for having one of the most paper thin scripts in marvel history, honestly all of phase 4 seems so subpar. The end bit were DS is like "we'll miss you" in regards to ppl who love peter when at that time he's prolly only met peter like 4 times in total and 2 of those times was on a battlefield and the 3rd being Tony's funeral.....
“Gaslight like a toxic ex..” so spot on. More & more I knew Disney has no respect for the audience & actual disdain for you if you wanted Disney to respect the source material & its characters
I enjoyed it as a casual movie. Let's be real spiderman no way home is a nostalgia aimed and pretty visual focused movie. Only reason people like it is cause of all the old characters meeting the new ones. The fights were so weak. Nobody got good attention. Movie felt so empty/lonely idk how to explain it. Dumb plot. But everyone praises it as the greatest thing ever when it did wrong what spiderman 3 did wrong. Too much going on for any one character to get real screantime and action. But it's praised because this is nostalgia filled and spiderman 3 isn't.
This was all put together so well! I’m glad you included the clip referring to how a story should always progress with “but then” or “and therefore” rather than “and then.” It’s a small thing, but it has such a big impact on the fluidity and believability of a story. I thought MOM started out good, and I was really excited to see how it progressed- until they literally wrote the characters delivering heaps of exposition in a fucking café after being attacked by a giant eyeball monster. My hope in the movie just plummeted. The first Doctor Strange had a lot of exposition scenes, but I felt they delivered them well by keeping the scenes engaging either through action or visuals. Not sitting in a public café and dumping all the info out to the audience.
My favourite part was when Dr. Strange (a guy with totally busted hands) had a full on fist fight with another magic user, and there was ZERO magic usage. Yes, just what I want to see in a film about magic users, hand-to-hand combat...
I can’t dislike this movie on the grounds that I really liked the first Doctor Strange, I got hyped when I heard this would be the first MCU horror movie (or at least the closest thing to it), and ima huge fan of Sam Raimi and consider him an inspiration to filmmakers just starting their careers. However, I was sorely disappointed by the fact that we only spent time in TWO alternate universes (I’m not counting that segment of Strange and America traveling through a dozen worlds that was literally a minute long) before returning to the main one. And I don’t consider that a high expectation when the movie title is called “Multiverse Of Madness”. Also I was expecting more cameos. I’m not saying that I was expected Spider-Man to show up at all, but when you have Charles Xavier show up in the first trailer, no shit people will think the movie have a lot more crazier stuff kept under wraps.
I’m basically right there with you on your entire take. I do enjoy Raimi, and I really liked the first Doctor Strange-but I definitely dislike this movie. Just a massive disappointment for me.
Hated the first Doctor Strange. They needed to make him likeable. He is extremely likeable now. But spent all this time inserting him in other universes never building upon his own.
@@mko-ai May I ask why, the first one showed him as an arrogant individual much like Tony Stark, who grew to realise the universe was much bigger than him and his injury. The finale was also interesting, instead of being an all out fire fight in a CGI ring.
9:53 one thing I really think you did miss here is that those ones weren't dead, the threat she was making wasn't torturing them, it was killing them over and over and over again; she used the darkhold to literally revive them.
For me, I couldn't take the movie seriously, from that fight with the eye monster at the beginning I was not able to feel like there was any thing at stake throughout the whole movie. Even though I didn't know the plot of the movie, I felt like the movie was done from the beginning.
Honestly, the cheesy, campy style and Raimi’s visual direction really carry this movie. You criticized the misplaced direction, but I think it’s the best part about it. The real issue here for me is the writing.
i agree, the fact that sam raimi didnt even watch wanda vision is horrible for me- like dude, ur writing POSSIBLY the most powerful character in the MCU, then he straight on ignores the fact that wanda went through that already 0-0
@@SD-uw7zu As far as the whole narrative goes for sure, but only because it has pre-established characters created and developed by other people and I don’t think Raimi was put in a position where he directed a film in a universe that wasn’t his own. Visually though, the film is distinctly Raimi. Not just from the blood and horror imagery but the way the camera moves too.
The decision to kill off Wanda instead of taking their time and building her up as the new big bad (which it seemed like they were going to do but someone changed their mind) instead of Kang really really has not aged well.
I'm so glad it isn't just me. Came out the cinema when this first came out feeling so confused and disappointed. I was so hyped for this film I was genuinely (somehow) more excited for this than endgame or infinity war and it just sucked. After what we got in NWH the multiverse concept had already been introduced this film should have been glorious but it was pure fucking stupid
I'd have to say this definitely is a Sam movie. I remember telling all my friends not to get excited about the movie, I told them to expect this formula: main villain shows up, has stupid motivation and is overpowered, they curb stomp the hero and then the movie ends with the villain killing themselves plus the movie has a horror camp feel. Didn't think I'd get it so right
💯💯💯. Pretty much. In terms of direction, visuals and performances, it was pretty good in that regard. Story, characters and script on the other hand…..
And why did White Vision leave in the first place? I only finished watching Wanda Vision so I'd know what the jump off for this movie was, and the whole last episode I was waiting for him to come back... but nope... "White Vision gets all of Vision's memories, including his love for Wanda... and then fucks off, because reasons." Also, I have to be honest, Strange was the worst part of Spider-Man No Way Home, "The plot happens because Strange can't be fucked to talk to Peter before casting a world altering spell."
Black Bolt can shatter a mountain with his voice. Even if that bullshit the movie pulled actually worked, the moment his head is blown everyone else in the building died too
"You break the rules and become a hero. I do it, and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair" -Wanda after having no consequences for what she did in WandaVision
It would've been cool if there was a universe shown where the villains were actually the avengers. Imagine thanos actually being the captain america in a seperate universe, crazy stuff
My biggest disappointment with Marvel was this movie. The lack of story arch like you mentioned, but also the god awful camera shots and weird style mixups. Ie wanda becoming a horror movie monster with glowing eyes when they are going through the tunnel, or Wong walking through the frame like the greenscreen was made of a bead curtain, say"where am i" really ruined the immersion and any chance to connect to a main character during the movie. It was fun to laugh at while watching tho
It’s apparent now that marvel somehow managed to capture lightning in a bottle for a few films. More hits than misses in their first three phases. But phase 4? They’ve lost the thread. No compelling stories, no real character development, nothing really tying the movies together and no sense that it’s moving towards anything. It’s almost as if they challenge themselves to create an entire phase as uninspired as Iron Man 2. Not really sure what happened but you would think with hundreds of millions of dollars hurtling back and forth that there would be a plan. What is it?
Absolutely loved the “And then” vs. “Therefore, but, because” tool for storytelling. Earned my sub. Anyone have any idea where that original vid came from?
Multiverse of Madness is far better than Love and Thunder, that's for sure. Phase 4 is a trash fire. Even No Way Home, fun as it was, is a one time watch. Come on DC, now is your chance to get up off the floor.
Probably won't be a while until DC get their shit together. The next films are Black Adam (looks really generic), Aquaman 2 (meh) and The Flash (Bound to be an absolute bonfire).
I thought it was going to be miserable given all of the critical reviews, but it panned out better than I thought. My only problems were that there were too many things going on in the movie and not enough time to flesh out all of the concepts neatly. As a result, it did not have a good focus on any of the things it was depicting. The forehead eye thing stuck out as lazy to me. Wanda's motivation was not really fleshed out. Other that that, I still enjoyed the movie. The thing that sticks out to me about Doctor Strange is his ingenuity and willingness to bend the rules to tackle the threats he is facing. I just wish that it were split into two movies to give enough time to flesh out all of the concepts and character arcs. Tall order for Disney though. Edit: Another disappointment for me is that Doctor Strange was nerfed. We know that he is capable of much more powerful spells than showcased. Nerfed to get the plot going.
It seems the arc intended for Strange was that he needs to learn that he doesn’t have to be the one to “hold the knife” or do what needs to be done all the time. He needs to trust others and let them decide together what they should do. But like, at the end of the movie he’s still telling America exactly what to do to win. Just like he did in Infinity War with Tony. He didn’t learn anything he’s still treating people like tools to be used in order to accomplish what he thinks is the best way to win.
I mean he tells chavez to do what she feels best with her powers and the SHE herself decides she wont just smack Wanda into an inescapable universe or one where shed be killed immediately, but instead shell show her first hand the folly if her ways. I dont know tbh “not getting it” or being as confused about all this in the way that the guy in the video is honestly is more of a _him_ problem than anything else.

Stunned that alot of reviews are positive on this movie. First review that is sober enough to see that this movie is a mess. The whole Wanda motivation is so boring and so Hollywood 2000. Thx you sir for this review

Can we also talk about how at the end of the first movie, it clearly set up Mordo to be the next antagonist, and in the second movie, he was just a side character?
:standing ovation: literally everything I felt about this movie - down to the laughing at "inappropriate" times, and also being completely distracted by the mole - has that always been there? I hated this movie.
I didn't think it was bad, just average. But then I rewatched the first doctor strange and that one actually felt like a doctor strange movie. Doctor strange 2 felt like a Wanda movie
Since the day I watched Dr Strange 2 I've been telling friends (after being asked, of course) what horrible movie it was. I honestly felt like getting up and walking out of the cinema but I thought, it's only HALF of the movie, let's see where it goes. Nowhere. It went nowhere. Such a pity, really.
What I hated the most was the action, they could have done so much with doctor strange, who should have the power to summon any creature or any power from any universe to help him defeat something, instead all he can do is use a bus and put it on top of a monster, then use a lamp post and stab a monster with it, are you serious ? He could have portaled that one eyed monster into a black hole, now he can only move inanimate objects ?? What the hell, just to make him look stupid and get saved by his cape. Ridiculously lazy action Wanda’s vague powers that simply destroy everyone else without a fight don’t help either, dr strange didn’t even try to fight her seriously re watch the movie he doesn’t even make an attempt .
Don't worry, in an alternate universe Doctor Strange 2 was a masterpiece
🤣🤣🤣Factz
Everything Everywhere all at Once turned out to be a bad movie in that alternate universe to make up for it.
Same with Love and Thunder

What really got me was that Wong so easily confessed to there being copes of the Darkhold spells. Like, he was literally risking the fate of the entire multiverse for 5 sorcerers. Sure, they didn't deserve to die but they are guardians of the world and of magic. It's their literal job to die if they need to to prevent things like this from happening.
If they died, the world dies, which is what there protecting
Wong did lots of nonsensical things just to drive the plot. Isn't there a part where a sorcerer sneaks up on Wanda to stop her dream walking crap, but the sorcerer doesn't even try to free Wong from his binds ?! 😂
@@pathofthetrickster WHILE SHE WAS UNAWARE DREAMWALKING LOL LIKE FREE HIM
this was just like when they tried to slowly remove the mind stone from Vision instead of just ripping it out. All plot convenience

Well, it's half right/wrong. It gives you plausible deniability that you aren't in fact, stupid.
But the sad part is that even the last line, “I love you in every universe” was over shadowed with the movie “everything everywhere all at once” which delivered the line way more powerfully and emotionally-actually, it did better everything this movie was supposed to do in every single aspect. This is comedy, not horror.

Thor watched his father die, lost his eye, killed his sister, watched his brother die, his people get slaughtered, and ultimately failed to kill Thanos before the Snap.
Rocket's best friend sacrificed himself, then the only family he ever knew got Snapped.
Dr. Strange sacrificed himself on the hope that his single timeline was the right choice.
Bruce Banner crippled himself to undo the Snap.
EVERYONE lost Tony when he killed Thanos' army.
Only Wanda went on to mentally *torture men, women, and CHILDREN* and had to be *forced* to give up her reality.
Except if you are a white male who asked out a woman in the workplace. No forgiveness ever.

The flashback machine pissed me off belief, thanks for putting into words exactly why
@@interialisms I saw those and I wish we had those instead
At this point, I can't wait for the next DC movie rather then the next Marvel movie.
"Disney gaslights like an abusive ex" is both the funniest and most truthful line I've heard in a while
Another huge problem with Disney / Marvel is that they truly don't know how to write a strong female character. They have no idea how to make a female heroic or believable, which is why we always end up with cringey feminists filling shoes they don't belong in. With that being said... Wanda is def the most enjoyable female character imo.
They had one in Mandalorian, then they fired her for having her own opinions.
@@siliconalleyelectronics187 ya I was pretty upset about them getting rid of her.

Huh ? They didn’t watch the previews? Or they showed up late ? That’s them being stupid

You know a movie is bad, when the review of the movie is more entertaining than the movie itself.

My main problem with the movie was this: the entire plot was wrapped up neatly with a bow by just showing her kids she was being a bitch. And that stopped everything. Not to mention she can “warp reality” but only did it twice with reed and black bolt, who’s skin and costume are stronger than his powers but his skull isn’t, and then she fist fought carter and never warped reality again, or the dark hold being written in that cave that “nobody has ever reached” and her and won’t fucking walk up to it with zero issue

They made America Chavez some helpless damsel in distress which is FAR from the character in the comics. And made Wong look incredibly weak and did nothing the entire film
Just sad….
What a mediocre, miserable film.
And a total waste of Sam Raimi as well.
While I liked Dr Strange 2, what was done with and to Wanda is not something I'm a fan of. She had become my favorite MCU character now that Captain America is gone and Hulk + Thor have been f'd by the writers... But now what the heck is going to happen w/ her?!
i wouldn't say ruined is the correct word choice, because we do see her reading the dark hold at the end credit scenes, what are u gonna expect? for her to be that vulnerable again? I honestly loved her character in that movie, because it showed how the dark hold has her, even strange said it "wanda's gone, she has the darkhold and the darkhold has her"

I honestly never get tired of that segment with Trey Parker and Matt Stone explaining the difference between "and then" vs "therefore/but" storytelling. It's such a simple concept on its face, and yet more and more writers in television and film seem to not know of or ignore the concept. And it perfectly demonstrates why South Park has been around as long as it has and maintains its quality.
Funny how long people have been underestimating that show.
I felt like this with Spiderman no way home. The entire movie happened because strange didn't take a couple minutes to actually formulate a plan for his spell. He just went to town with no preparation was it no surprise it went to shit. If he knew it could get messed up why not say a quick "Hey would you mind keeping your yap shut while I do this so we don't screw over the universe?"
And then to risk EVERYONE in the universe because he didn't want to send killers back to their world where they could possibly die. So to save them he takes them all out of their cages AT ONCE and expects them to sit and play nice while he tries to "save" each person. Surprise surprise....the bad guys end up doing bad thing. SHOCKER!!!!!!! LIke how dumb was Spiderman that entire movie? I couldn't handle it.
yeah while I didn't hate the movie (only the death of Aunt May. like, did we really need to do that shit again?) it's true that *how* the whole thing came about was stupid as hell and should have been rewritten
Mcu spiderman is a joke, they dumbed him so much it took 2 nostalgia baits to make him a proper arc

You know actually in my head, I thought this would be very different. I thought the Loki show and the Wanda and Vision were setting up something huge for Strange to figure out and fix. But no. No Loki. No Vision. Just all the wrong beats.
Indeed. Loki should’ve appeared in this
During the whole movie while Wanda was talking about her kids, all I could think of is…..what about vision? Does she not know there’s another vision around? Why is her alternate universe self a single mom with no vision? I just couldn’t help but find that weird. And even though they explained how the kids were real in another universe, the explanation of dreams being visions of alternate selves in universes seemed pretty complicated
Because they wanted you to know all dads are deadbeat no matter what universe they're in
(beware: This is a long one)
Doctor Strange is definitely in my top 5 MCU characters, but even I have to agree that he is better off as a supporting character.
Stephen's grief with the loss of Tony, Christine to an extent, and all his friends from Karmar-taj were murdered (We're looking at you Master Hamir)
-Pain. Kind of plays into the grief aspect, but Wanda's emotional pain and Stephen's physical pain. Severe nerve damage is no joke, you know.
-Finding love and peace in what you have. Kind of self-explanatory
-Getting over your past self.
You guessed it
I know it's canon that Chaos magic is more powerful then any other magic, but tbh I'd rather the kind of magic that allows me to do whatever the hell I want with no restraints.
The way they had to get out of this was to simply say that "Yes, it was the only way, but don't pretend that you can just play God and do as you please just because something you do is "The only way" "
And did the film do that?
NO
Instead, the film decides to invent *a completely different Strange,* put *our* Strange on trial for what the other guy did, and then *almost immediately* forgive him since "he isn't the same guy".
One thing noticed is that they made the Illuminati good, when they’re bad.

@@kjbeast677 Sad to think Derrickson wanted to introduce Nightmare as the antagonist instead. It would've been refreshing...
Dude, don't call this movie a Rick Roll. That's not fair to Rick Rolls.
The "What if Strange lost his Heart instead of his Hands" was a better Doctor Strange sequel
this!!
Evil Strange would've been an amazing villain in this movie. Wanda was wasted. Strange himself was wasted in his own movie.
💯💯💯
and the fact they teased that Strange in the trailers!! Uggghh
I definitely like the _idea_ of Dr. Strange 2. The actual movie, though? Those writers did EVERYONE dirty. 😬
After watching this film, the first thing I said to myself was "that's the last time I'm going to the cinema to watch an MCU film"
“What if the memory was him plowing Christine” hahahaha omg yes. Subbed
My favourite part was when Dr. Strange (a guy with totally busted hands) had a full on fist fight with another magic user, and there was ZERO magic usage. Yes, just what I want to see in a film about magic users, hand-to-hand combat...
I didn't like that scene either (or much of anything about the whole movie), but in that scene's defense, they were both wearing anti-magic handcuffs.
All I had to read was that the Director hadn't bothered watching WandaVision. Explained everything.
brass tacks
wandavision was dog shit. watch evil dead 2 an actual good movie
@@SNNetwork yea but you’d think that since you’re DIRECTING a follow up to a show you would watch it
I can’t dislike this movie on the grounds that I really liked the first Doctor Strange, I got hyped when I heard this would be the first MCU horror movie (or at least the closest thing to it), and ima huge fan of Sam Raimi and consider him an inspiration to filmmakers just starting their careers.
@@TheMovieCynic Can’t fault you for that, it’s definitely frustrating for me.
@@hrishiv I think you answered your own question honestly. In any case, he wasn't likeable for me in the first one, bur he's my favorite now.
Strange really did feel like a supporting character in his own movie man!
Honestly, the cheesy, campy style and Raimi’s visual direction really carry this movie. You criticized the misplaced direction, but I think it’s the best part about it. The real issue here for me is the writing.
And the lack of Sam raimi is a big problem. This really isn’t his movie
i agree, the fact that sam raimi didnt even watch wanda vision is horrible for me- like dude, ur writing POSSIBLY the most powerful character in the MCU, then he straight on ignores the fact that wanda went through that already 0-0
@@ASDFPLAYZ He’s a director not a writer? And Wanda vision hadn’t been released yet
@@jennidavis588 He is literally allowed to change around the writing if he wanted to
The decision to kill off Wanda instead of taking their time and building her up as the new big bad (which it seemed like they were going to do but someone changed their mind) instead of Kang really really has not aged well.
I came out of the cinema with the same feeling bro.. something about this movie was off
I'd have to say this definitely is a Sam movie.
I only finished watching Wanda Vision so I'd know what the jump off for this movie was, and the whole last episode I was waiting for him to come back... but nope... "White Vision gets all of Vision's memories, including his love for Wanda... and then fucks off, because reasons."
Also, I have to be honest, Strange was the worst part of Spider-Man No Way Home, "The plot happens because Strange can't be fucked to talk to Peter before casting a world altering spell."
Black Bolt can shatter a mountain with his voice. Even if that bullshit the movie pulled actually worked, the moment his head is blown everyone else in the building died too
"You break the rules and become a hero. I do it, and I become the enemy. That doesn't seem fair"
-Wanda after having no consequences for what she did in WandaVision
-Wanda to Strange after he broke the rules to save the universe
@@irisbutterfly4845 💯💯💯
Wanda is a hypocrite all the way.
It would've been cool if there was a universe shown where the villains were actually the avengers. Imagine thanos actually being the captain america in a seperate universe, crazy stuff
Dr Strange 2 was Trash
Ms Marvel was Trash
Love and Thunder was trash
Disney & Marvel are making trash now
don’t get me started with cgi for she hulk
@@thebatman4279 DC has been meh and the only thing I have enjoyed was the first Wonder Woman movie
This wasnt a doctor strange movie. This was america chavez vs scarlet witch featuring bennidict cumberbatch.
"Disney Gaslight like a toxic EX.".
now that's a legendary line.
Warm take or shallow arc? 🎶 yooouuu deeeciiiiddde 🎵
@@airbnbreviews693 ??? I never removed the ability for you to tag me. Not to mention I get notifications for thousands of comments. 🤷♂️ idk what to tell you.
Lol another average 12 year old marvel fan. When you mature a bit, you will know how dumb your comment is
This would have worked better as a mini series to flesh everything out more and give more development to strange himself, and fix all the issues in general with more time to add better plot points and a collectively better story.
Stunned that alot of reviews are positive on this movie. First review that is sober enough to see that this movie is a mess.
The whole Wanda motivation is so boring and so Hollywood 2000.
Thx you sir for this review
Doctor Strange 2 makes me think about dropping MCU’s phase4 entirely. Thor 4 sends me over the edge.
It’s just so sad because marvel had such a good reputation I really don’t think there was one “bad” mcu movie until after endgame, now they’re all over the place
Bro stfu and say that your biased💀 the guy above me just stated all the bad movies+more
@◇DAISY◇ I forgot about Incredible Hulk, but I like and enjoy iron man 2 and 3, those are fun and good movies to me, Thor the dark world was ok, I liked a lot of parts in it though with Thor and Loki, Just my opinion
