First comment I've ever made on TH-cam. Been watching you guys for a while now, and I have to say that you guys have some of the best, most thoughtful and well-produced content I've ever seen on TH-cam. Better every video too! It's just so real, educational, entertaining, and the passion behind the content is so tangible! You guys always do such a good job of highlighting the real ups and downs of exploring and experiencing the wilderness. As a fellow filmmaker, man o' man can I relate to the feeling of loss when a piece of equipment bites the dust. I've killed more than one camera during my time on the job, and it's never a good feeling. Life isn't always rainbows and sunshine, and I appreciate you guys sharing with us both sides of your adventures. the good...and the bad, and, in this case--the wet! Kudos on your success so far--keep up the astounding work! Can't wait to see more! Sincerely, an avid fan and fellow adventurer :)
it's a lot of fun, and educational due to knowledge of the flora. I feel you could start another series just about the flora of the woods with a bunch of experts like Andrew
Hey there guys I just wanted to thank you all for the times these vids helped me. I have really bad anxiety and it makes it hard to eat but watching you guys all by the fire laughing cooking simple meals and enjoying them has helped me beyond my belief! Thank you 🙏🏻
Awwww...it was a pleasant seen to see Thomas and everyone else pushed in the chair at the restaurant table before leaving. All the chairs were neatly replaced and the table looks organized. Thats how I am and my bf follow suit :). Wonderful table etiquette
Oh man!! My heart absolutely sank for you guys!! I hate that you guys lost valuable equipment, but the most important thing is that everyone was OK! You guys handled the entire trip, both ups and downs, with grace!! Thanks for another fantastic video!!
Gentlemen, living in MI I appreciate your showcasing the MRT. I have been there many times but had no idea how many wild edibles were there. Thank you. Way to persevere on an extremely challenging adventure. Your friendship with each other made it ultimately a success. Keep up the great work!
I discovered adventure archives about 1 month ago, Jan 2024. So When I saw the recent episode where Andrew and Bryan went canoeing while Thomas and Robby went on this treacherous hike, Thomas said that in a previous episode the boat flipped over and the came was lost etc. and that was t he end of the trip, I now see what they meant lol/ Dammm.... all this is part of the adventure of life but I am sure it was quite frustrating having lost expensive gears.
Haha thank you for checking out our videos! Yeah the canoe flip was definitely unfortunate, but other than that it was an amazing trip! We also came back to this river in a later episode with an electric motorboat, which was way more stable
Guys, sorry about the losses but your episodes are just getting better and better. The music, script and cinematography are making one fantastic package and I truly love it
The most important thing is you are all safe, all those things can be replaced. Remember next time bring waterproof dry bags for camera or extra lens gears 😇😇😇😎❤️
Hahah very true. It really wasn't all that bad until the canoe flip. Sometimes it's kind of fun dealing with the rain and thunder (to an extent). Thanks for watching!
Such a great video. I have backpacked the trail and kayaked the river many times. It was awesome to know exactly where you were on the trail and river. I actually proposed to my wife on the trail next to the river.
MrFink230 yes! I’m a bit late to the video but this was by first overnight hiking trip back in the day. Very fun to relive that trip through fresh eyes.
I normally don’t comment on TH-cam but yours is the best channel I ever came across on TH-cam. I watched each and every episode of yours and they are awesome. The videography, music, narration and walking us through is superb.. Hats off guys.. keep us going through different experiences.
Instead of binge watching something on Netflix I have been binge watching you guys. I used to go camping up by Mt. Rainier with my family when I was a kid and it takes me back.
Thank you for watching :) Mt. Rainier is definitely a place we want to hike around some day. It's a beautiful part of the country out there. Glad we could take you back to some good memories.
I remembered one saying in Zen which is more or less: Life isn't there to make everything nice for you or to make you happy - You have to do it for your own. This is my new relaxing and educational program while enjoying some tea sessions - I really hope you guys will gain more subscribers soon because you really deserve it. I love your "more than 1 hour" hiking videos. They are never boring even for that length and they are so peaceful, enjoyable and educational. It is amazing what you do. Please keep that concept going - Love it! I am drinking some Pu-erh & continue watching ~ Cheers from Vienna!
Just when you think the last video was one of the best... then this.... best thus far. I appreciate the realness and the unpredictable mishaps keeps you in suspense. Not sterile and perfect like most boring hiking videos on TH-cam
I love the poetic nature of all your musings and the depth and silliness of everything that you all convey. So sorry y'all lost some equipment, but that's what my dad calls "an expensive education". The Manistee area is so beautiful and yes there are bear, but it's very much worth experiencing!
Really glad you are ok Bryan and got yourself untangled, phew! I loved this episode. Serene, peaceful, lightning was exciting, all that rain reminded me of trips I've been on. Felt like I was there. Glad you are all ok and you were able to raise the money to replace the lost equipment.
I really, really enjoyed watching this adventure in particular. I think maybe it was Andrew who said, while the lightening was all around and you had to move camp - it isn't the best situation, but it does bring a sense of excitement and "aliveness" that can't be matched in many other ways. Nice work, I am blown away by every video.
The foreshadowing at the start with the lightning and thunder was the first clue. That was harrowing guys but so thankful everyone was ok and it was great to see you kept your senses of humor intact. That post hike meal was much needed! Liked hearing Robby's Japanese, had me nostalgic for his Japan Vlogs (check out Robby's Channel) and that was some mad juggling too! :)
I know this video is old, but I just got around to being able to watch it. I love the fact that you can mostly keep a sense of humor throughout the experience. Rain is going to happen, so will capsizing canoes, been there more than once. It's life and it's perfect. I recently spent the night camping with my brother, in the pouring rain, set up the tarp, put on our favorite youtube channel and enjoyed the rain for about 12 hours. Makes everything else we take for granted worth it. Obviously I prefer the nice weather, but it's not always going to be that way.
I love your videos but Brian losing his glasses and the loss of those lenses broke my semi-blind-without-glasses heart a little. Lenses of any kind are ridiculously expensive. Ouch and ouch! Great video guys, you're delivering such top notch videos. I know this was a few years ago by now, but i still wanted to tell you that this is possibly my favourite of all the videos you've done. Sometimes life isn't all sunshine and blue skies, sometimes it's full of rain and lack of sleep. Loved it, best of luck in all of your endeavours. PS - Laughed so hard at Brian wearing two pairs of glasses, Andrew's helmet and prince Robbie's hairbuns, LOL!
I have a Linden tree in my front yard. Those little seed balls fall all over my garden, walk way, driveway and cars and are a major pain in the ass. The best part about that tree is that it attracts aphids in droves, which in turn release tons of honeydew, which also ends up all over our cars, attracting other bugs which attracts spiders. On a positive note, your videos are very well done and have inspired me to continue collecting proper backpacking gear to go backcountry camping. Great work guys!
I can't believe some people leave a wholeass tent in the forest! Thanks for the awesome videos. Recently discovered a love for hiking and found your channel yesterday. I have been watching your videos all night/day!
Hi from liverpool England I happened to just come across your channel the other day an I'm so glad I did I've been watching your vids I just love them all, watching Andrew an the excitement on his face when hes found a mushroom or a plant or tree it's great to watch an hes teaching us at home so way to go Adventure Archives
I forgot to mention that the name of the suspension foot bridge is Little Mac. Named after the Macinac bridge that connects lower peninsula & upper peninsula.
This video shows the quintessential reason why I luv watching the Adventure Archives guys - no matter how bad things get, they try to find the good & try to make the most of it & they always manage to laugh at it all in the end! U guys are the best, thanks for sharing your videos
It's weird to see a very professional crew of outdoors-man on the same trails you played on as a kid. I live 2 miles from the Manistee and the region is very special to me.
Most underrated channel ever. You guys need to come a little north and meet up with Joe Robinet- Would get you some well deserved exposure. Keep em coming
The cinematography, the editing, comradery, the content, the struggle, and the music, the music three times over at least are excellent in this one. Best overall score for any of your videos so far.
So glad I found this channel. The production is top notch, you all have such great attitudes and best of all, you guys have covered many of my favorite trails in Michigan and Ohio!
Beautiful Bald Eagle! So glad they are making a huge comeback here in Michigan. We have seen 7 of them in the last year here on the east side of Michigan.
I found two massive petoskey stones in that exact clay waterfall at 37:45 while kayaking the manistee river in August!!! That area is rich in petoskey stones, which get unearthed by the streams eroding away the clay beneath.
I can so relate to the way that Brian talks about the healing and relaxing canoe trips! Just started taking it up in the past few years, loving every bit of it.
I thank you guys for producing such an experiential production show casing outdoor sports. That is certainly bush craft in practice. I learn as much from your productions as the product oriented You Tuber's that I am so very fond of following. My son is a scout as I am and he learns a great deal as well as making him thinking about these things planing solutions in his mind. I recall in my youth many of the obstacles you guys encountered but you guys tend to handle it more maturely. We used to just say "oh well," and slept in the pouring rain with only a tree for cover. You guys are great and the friendship, cooperation and sharing you guys portray is a fantastic model for all scouts of all ages and walks of life. Thanks.
I just soloed this trail, last night I started at the dam. Hiked the NCT to reds bridge, then came back on the MRT today. 20 mile loop became a day and a half hike. Beautiful trail, and I will be going back!
As someone who has canoed that river and just a lot in general, canoeing class helps a ton. It's something I'm glad I did. Also, a ridge line down the middle of your tarp and then staking four corners keeps the water from pooling. Easy to say when your sitting in a nice comfy chair watching the video. Also Robby, Google trigger discipline. Great work as always guys!
Well I sure do agree with RyGuy, Wonderful to watch You with your family. Beautiful footage, just a very nice laid back, lovely time. Oh I wish I was there. Your dad's a lot of fun and he loves his kids. take him with you whenever you can, It'll mean the world to him and you. Blessing guys, always looking forward to the next one.since Blessings from Grandma Teri ❤
Just catching this now as I discovered your channel only recently...you have quickly become one of my favorite backpacking subscribes!!! I feel your pain w this one! Having dumped my own canoe more than once, I couldn’t help but laugh...sympathetically in heartfelt empathy...because it triggered that “Oh Crap!” moment of recalled shock and horror. (Why do we blurt out w uncontrolled laughter when someone we love stubs their toe???) Sometimes you just get one of those trips where everything that can go wrong...does. Believe me, I’ve drug myself back in through the door looking like a bedraggled drowned rat more times than I care to remember. Our moment of triumph comes when we step back out the following week for more. Dealing w adversity is a life lesson I’ve honed thru backpacking that serves me well every. single. day. And I wouldn’t trade one dunking, one frozen feet night, one ridgeline hail storm, one 60 mph blizzard above treeline for any amount of money in the world. Thanks for all your hard work w these films. You deserve much respect and admiration! ❤️
Hats off to you guys! This is like the worst & toughest situation you have ever faced in Adventure Archives history, but love how you still manage to get the best out the drown cameras.
There's at campsite at that exact point at 1:21. It was the first one we encountered on the trail but the view is absolutely stunning and the nearest campsite isn't a good ways away, so we were totally alone aside from the occasional passerby. SO SICK.
Loved the return to the wild in this episode, in spite of the mishap. Fantastic episode as always guys, you really do knock it out of the park every time.
Adventure archives keep up the great work your videos and content are awesome. I'm subscribed and I've watched most of your hour long videos till the end. They show that there is so much in the outdoors to explore and that we should preserve these environments. 🍏🌳🍀
Nice video, interesting to see you cope with the weather :) About canoeing: You want to put everything (!) into waterproof bags, that are tied to your canoe or if they break lose will float if you capsize. I hike a lot in rainy Norway and use those packs anyway inside my backpack. I found this to be the only method to keep my stuff really dry. You can literally soak your backpack under water and still have everything dry - worth the extra grams for those waterproof bags.
I can't believe they were on a river with expensive equipment without storing them in waterproof bags!!! Also, I wonder if they checked the weather forecast? I mean if there's a chance of thunder, you don't camp in a field...
I love that you still enjoy play. When we go camping, we are all just building a treehouse, or a fort, and the more it rains, and the harder it is to keep your fire alight, the more you're trying to please your dad or that uncle that actually does stuff, or that part of you that will be that uncle or dad to the next generation. When we stop trying to face mild adversity, we stop trying in general. Anyway. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I love your work, keep it coming. 120ThingsIn20Years/BullwinkleII/Craig
Excellent trip and episode! Dealing with adverse situations is something we all go through being outdoors (especially us that film our trips) and you four faced it like champs, hats off to you!
It's nice to see you guys back on the trail again after the roadtrip. It's when you boys are at your most natural; plant ID's and life philosophies abundant. And I know it's not the most pleasant, but it's also kind of nice to see you can still be humbled by mistress Nature even with all your fancy equipment. P.s. Robby as princess Leia, OMG. You guys are priceless :D
This is a classic lower peninsula hike. Not many options for a hike like this in the area. I've hiked this several times, including a bushwhack along the Manistee on the west side instead of doing the north country trail part... Lots of PUDs with no view. I've got some footage of that on my channel in my Manistee river video. Thanks for sharing
Amazing video! I love how this video shows the difficulties that can happen in wild areas and that backpacking isn’t all skipping through meadows and forests. Adventure Archives is hands down the best show on backpacking that exists! No other show on television or TH-cam is even close to your level. Keep up the great work and keep the episodes coming 🤗
Well at least you can look at it as a learning experience. Sometimes it takes a spill or a wet night to help engrave lessons. This is stimulating to an experience I had in a kayak once...you can bet I keep EVERYTHING tied to the kayak now
My first backpacking trip was along the Manistee river while I was in Boy Scouts. I’ve gone on to hike and camp a lot of other more amazing places that I never would have because of that experience. This brings back a lot of great memories. Thanks guys!
I am about one week new to your site, has anyone ever been told that you guys that you are “ binge watching “ worthy ? well, you are. Kudos! Well done. Each and everyone of you are very likable, it shows that you guys care about your content and what you put out. Thank you for inspiring me!
I have enjoyed many of your videos but this is the first one that I have commented on. I truly enjoy your photographic/videographic, camping, botanical, woodcraft and culinary skills displayed by these adventures but the element that I most enjoy is your camaraderie. It's great fun to watch a bunch of intelligent, thoughtful, articulate guys enjoy the outdoors even in the most adverse conditions. From my own experience, it isn't the easy parts of the trip you remember so much as the difficult, uncomfortable ones that you reminisce, talk and laugh about. Apparently you enjoy canoeing so I am attaching a TH-cam URL of a trip my son and friend took to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway in north central Maine fifteen years ago. If you enjoy solitude, black flies, mosquitos and great canoeing you should try it. I apologize for the poor quality but it was a long time ago. I have many questions about your videos but they are for another time. th-cam.com/video/9YLBfRlFTRg/w-d-xo.html
Watching this vid, I was so relaxed and enjoying the video until the mishap during the canoe trip. I was really sad for you guys. Losing valuable equipment really sucks but most importantly you guys were safe and alright.
Hiked this same trail 3 years ago with some friends early summer and ran into a ton of rain. It’s giving me some flashbacks, this place is so beautiful on camera but it does not do it justice to being there. I want to go back!
Great job guys. When you were pealing the mushroom I was thinking about shelling peas with my grandmother. Also, you might want to tell Thomas he should be careful about his mic placement while reclining in the canoe. You might get a PG rating from TH-cam for that. I was nearly drowned in a rafting accident years ago. Long before required life vests. Didn’t seem so bad then but looking back I was lucky. Easy to get caught on a stick and something bad happen. You guys handled it very well! Hope the equipment was insured but if not no big deal. You are all ok and that’s what matters. AND FOR ALL YOU VIEWERS recommend these guys! They deserve more followers for the quality work that they do! It’s great content. Just recommend to your Facebook friends. It’s easy. Off my soapbox.... Also, wish you would come to the Cohutta Wilderness Area in the north Georgia mountains. Beautiful and largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River.
First comment I've ever made on TH-cam. Been watching you guys for a while now, and I have to say that you guys have some of the best, most thoughtful and well-produced content I've ever seen on TH-cam. Better every video too! You guys always do such a good job of highlighting the real ups and downs of exploring and experiencing the wilderness. stxmoore I agree. Love your vlogs....So sorry for your losses. Such a positive group of friends.
Longest comment I ever Edit: (saw)
You said it. We have been watching a while. Its family friendly too. We love u guys!!
it's a lot of fun, and educational due to knowledge of the flora. I feel you could start another series just about the flora of the woods with a bunch of experts like Andrew
Netflix needs to pick you guys up! Great work! I always enjoy your films.
This is the best idea ever. Absolutely. These guys are great!
I agree, they deserve only good. they are creative, original
I feel like netflix agenda will ruin their creativity.
Hey there guys I just wanted to thank you all for the times these vids helped me. I have really bad anxiety and it makes it hard to eat but watching you guys all by the fire laughing cooking simple meals and enjoying them has helped me beyond my belief! Thank you 🙏🏻
Sorry we're only just now responding to this, but I'm really glad our videos help with your anxiety, and thank you so much for watching!
How are you doing now?
Because of you guys I am going to the Porcupine Mountains on my first multi-day backpacking trip! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Wouldn't be adventure archives without some rain adventures
Awwww...it was a pleasant seen to see Thomas and everyone else pushed in the chair at the restaurant table before leaving. All the chairs were neatly replaced and the table looks organized. Thats how I am and my bf follow suit :). Wonderful table etiquette

I'm from Traverse City and can relate.
West Michigan's area I am from ❤
Thank GOD there is four of you. Imagine lone hikers finding themselves in a predicament.
Some of my most memorable outdoor adventures is just being completely alone in a predicament.
i realize this is two years later, but i really enjoy following you guys, thanks for this one, i'm about an hour and a half south in muskegon
Im in Coopersville, hey neighbor.

The motto for this trip... "Embrace the suck."

I really, really enjoyed watching this adventure in particular. Professional production..
These adventures are much better than Globetrekker
You guys motivates me even more after overcoming those obstacles. Brilliant video. You always show us the real and the worst.
If not for the rain, it would be a really great time!! Fabulous video guys;)!

That tree at 9:34! I can't believe I found that tree again on a popular TH-cam channel of all places...Manistee has such gorgeous wilderness
I can't believe some people leave a wholeass tent in the forest! Thanks for the awesome videos. Recently discovered a love for hiking and found your channel yesterday. I have been watching your videos all night/day!

I’m addicted to Adventure Archives. The banter, the videography, knowledge, humor, and of course the beauty of nature. Perfection! Love you guys! ❤️

nature show and a cooking show? this is truly next level entertainment
Wow so much joy and anguish in one video
The cloud footage at 58:20 is so stunning. Sorry for your equipment loss.
The cinematography, the editing, comradery, the content, the struggle, and the music, the music three times over at least are excellent in this one. Best overall score for any of your videos so far.
The shoutouts just keep getting better and better. Robbie in the headphones was too much. XD
What amazes me is that through it all, you still had the peace of mind to keep filming.
Episode is always top priority lol :)
you should be really proud of this content. everything about it is just fantastic.
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us
Life got ups and downs. Encountering the downs doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be looking for the ups. Fantastic video as always, thank you for sharing!
I'll be solo hiking this tomorrow, minus the conoeing. It looks like a great trail!
How should I google it to get this kind of trail so I can GPS I wanna go at the end of the month and want this same trial
So glad I found this channel. The production is top notch, you all have such great attitudes and best of all, you guys have covered many of my favorite trails in Michigan and Ohio!

(Why do we blurt out w uncontrolled laughter when someone we love stubs their toe???)
Sometimes you just get one of those trips where everything that can go wrong...does.
That over look you saw with the bend in the river, it's even better in the winter.
Hats off to you guys! This is like the worst & toughest situation you have ever faced in Adventure Archives history, but love how you still manage to get the best out the drown cameras.
It might have been said already, but the yellow feather at 13:02 is most likely from a Northern Flicker!
Even though it was a rough go in the woods and water, this is my favorite video so far! Keep it up.
There's at campsite at that exact point at 1:21. It was the first one we encountered on the trail but the view is absolutely stunning and the nearest campsite isn't a good ways away, so we were totally alone aside from the occasional passerby. SO SICK.
Oh wait he talks about it lol campsite 10 B is where it's at.
love that you have a botanist along!
Loved the return to the wild in this episode, in spite of the mishap. Fantastic episode as always guys, you really do knock it out of the park every time.
You guys do a great job showing places I might not have thought to go explore honestly. Great work!
Adventure archives keep up the great work your videos and content are awesome. I'm subscribed and I've watched most of your hour long videos till the end. They show that there is so much in the outdoors to explore and that we should preserve these environments. 🍏🌳🍀
Nice video, interesting to see you cope with the weather :)
About canoeing: You want to put everything (!) into waterproof bags, that are tied to your canoe or if they break lose will float if you capsize.
My husband uses the garbage bags for compacting garbage disposal, trash compacter. They fit perfectly inside the backpack.
Guys it's about time to start tethering tech gear. Even with the loss of equipment you still share your adventures. Thank you
You guys are FANTASTIC! But ya got a lot to learn about canoe tripping.

I can't express how much I enjoy this one and all your videos. Manistee looks great. Dry bags!
Glad you guys made it out okay! Awesome adventure, as always.
Wow, this is one of your rainiest episodes yet. Kudos to you guys for powering through the trip. Love what you did with the shout-outs!
it was definitely top 3 rainiest trips. Its always difficult to convey how annoying and inconvenient the rain is in video!
I prefer kayaks because they seem less likely to tip. But Manistee is a really beautiful place. Great video. I really enjoyed it.
MRT. One of my favorites living in western Michigan. Great choice!
❤ 💙
Well at least you can look at it as a learning experience. Sometimes it takes a spill or a wet night to help engrave lessons. This is stimulating to an experience I had in a kayak once...you can bet I keep EVERYTHING tied to the kayak now
what a trip! keep it on, guys. You will remember this forever! good luck!
I did a little cheer when I saw a new AA video up at work during lunch hour!
5:25 The legendary Aussie Granny Smith. They make the best toffee Apples.
Y'all are so calm!

Welcome to my back yard guys. Glad i found yalls videos.
I find your videos to be extremely calming. Thank you, guys.
Watching this vid, I was so relaxed and enjoying the video until the mishap during the canoe trip. I was really sad for you guys. Losing valuable equipment really sucks but most importantly you guys were safe and alright.
Liking the new start up.
Hiked this same trail 3 years ago with some friends early summer and ran into a ton of rain. It’s giving me some flashbacks, this place is so beautiful on camera but it does not do it justice to being there. I want to go back!
Quality gets better all the time, great jobs guys!
I once flipped a canoe and caused us to capsize because a snake jumped into the front of the canoe and started slithering toward me LOL.
dont stop doing this kind of video..nice one guys
great video featuring guys with fantastic attitude and impressive knowledge of nature's edibles
Pure Michigan !
