Just wanted to say hello, my name is Jim, I am 50 yrs old a Michigan resident and your Lake Superior video is what brought me to your channel. My wife and I van camp a lot mainly state forest campgrounds and do like to day hike but always return to the van to sleep ? Your videos are incredible great humor when it gets tough, love the information on identifying plants trees etc. I am taking my turn with Covid as I text and have been binge watching your videos for 4 days now lol. You know what this hasn’t been to bad 😂 keep up the good work guys !!!

So I actually came across this while sat playing Minecraft yesterday when TH-cam was doing its famous auto-play, I've not stopped watching these since. Amazing videos, they make me feel like I am still seeing the world despite being housebound so thank you guys :)

I cooked crickets for my Fish and Wildlife class for a presentation on eating bugs. They were surprisingly tasty. I thought they tasted like roasted pumpkin seeds. Everyone but one person tried them :) I tried cooking up grasshoppers more recently. I need to work on my technique. Don't worry, I won't send you any though :D Great video, as always.

I suspect we ALL have eaten some insects at one time or another----knowingly or unknowingly. Many processed foods will have its share of bug parts, you cannot totally eliminate bugs in the ointment. I remember reading years ago an acceptable limit on products for alien no-see-ums in various food stuff. For example, a candy bar was allowed say no more than one small broken roach wing, or no more than one wasp leg. Not sure of the limit on rodent hairs, and er ---"bees' knees," and cricket thighs and fly eggs etc. in flour but these things ARE there. We eat them! Can't help it! Over a life time all of us I'm sure have had a heaping fill of bugs.
I've had ---on purpose----chocolate covered ants in fudge. They were advertised that way. I must have been cheated on my allotment of ants because I could not taste any; any flavor I guess was buried in the taste of chocolate. Maybe there was a shortage of gourmet ants or something. It seems a chocolate factory wouldn't have to import any ants---they like an entire army of ants would simply come marching right into the factory. Perhaps it was easier to incorporate the ants in the recipe and sell it that way rather than getting rid of them!

Without the food reward at the end of each series I wouldn’t be able to process this insanity. I love being in nature but extremes are not my thing. The comfort food at the end is my thing 😍

I caught the AA bug when I first began to enjoy the idea and activity of backpacking. I kept watching. Two years later, during this episode, I began to wonder why I am so emotionally invested in your program. I arrived at this conclusion:
AA is a brilliant display of sincere, modern men being men. The good humored camaraderie, the love, the respect for nature and each other, the closeness. Those qualities are all but absent from pop-culture. But, here it is - of all places on TH-cam. Don't take what you have here for granted; there is huge demographic and thirst for this genre, which may entirely belong to you. I say now's the time for a bigger push. Amazon/Netflix need to know your names.

Thank you so much for the kind words! We didn't even really know what we were going for exactly when we first started out, but we knew we wanted to present ourselves as genuinely as possible, and that we didn't want any fake drama or anything like that. Thanks again for the comment, and thank you for watching!

I whole heartedly concur. I do not binge on series or programs as the media culture begs this absence of truest anthropological wealth and humanistic wellness which is the reason why I seem to not be able to put this channel away. Bravo to you four for this quintessential offering of what wellness in self, inner serenity and an affinity with nature to which is we all are richer in sharing!

Thomas why so serious? Awesome episode guys. I have to ask after seeing so many episodes more than once, I love that you guys share the food & talk about it but do you all get a full meal? You can't really be sharing a cup of noodles for 3 or 4 people right, I know you had 4 on this trip but I swear I've seen you guys eating off of one lonely cup-o-noodles? If you guys ever want to head out to Washington hit me up I live in an outdoor paradise with access to all kinds of trails. The Pacific North West trail goes through here & the cascades are about 15 minutes away, a hidden gem that rivals the best the USA has to offer. Also you guys gotta get a digital thermometer so we can get a better idea of how cold it is if you can.

Another fantastic video by AA. I am sad to say I just now had a chance to see it. I have spent the majority of the past year living and working in Europe and with TH-cam being the only "television entertainment" I re-watched all the older episodes and caught up on all your Campfire Chronicles. As has been stated many times, the Production Quality is fantastic and continues to get better. Seeing such a good group of friends just sharing their random thoughts along the way makes the productions feel personal and I am confident that many in this audience have felt they have gotten to know you from that perspective.
I was especially drawn to this episode as it I am very familiar with the area, having been born and raised in Michigan. I love to see the quality in your cinematography on these places I go quite often. It started within a minute. Was that Nader's motel in Ludington? I had been there a dozen times when I was a kid. After retirement, my mother lived in the house on the same block and just to the right of the water tower (I think it was just off-screen). From the Nurnberg Trailhead parking lot to the lakeshore to the additional unmarked dune and forest trails and the serenity of Nordhouse Lake - that area is incredible. In the early fall, camping closer to the beach with a campfire and the feel of the Lake Michigan breeze is just amazing.
Your videos have inspired me to broaden my backpacking range with the limited time I have available. I have been to Isle Royale seven times, but now Red River Gorge/Daniel Boone National Forest is another favorite, and I plan to hit some some new spots this year. I do hope you still have Isle Royale on the list. Grabbing a "Greenstone Burger" and a craft beer at the Rock Harbor Lodge at the end of the hike is the way to go.

You guys have pretty much created an entire genre of documentary, or at the very least, refined an already existing format well beyond what anyone else is doing right now and I can think of no other filmmakers, let alone TH-camrs, that do what you guys do and do so well. I would not be surprised if at some point in the future Adventure Archives becomes one of the channels that others are measured against, at least as far as production quality, audience accessibility, and efficient use of existing resources is concerned. Currently I have over 150 YT subscriptions and this channel is one of maybe only five or so that actually gives me a genuine feeling of happiness upon seeing a fresh upload... and I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that.! Again, great work and I look forward to what AA have to offer in 2019.
(Are any of you ever tempted to drop a handful of snow down someone's shirt? Dumb question, I know...)
    Edit: Twypos.

I'm impressed with how rad this hike is, even with a PNW perspective. Neat glacial terrain everywhere. The hills are moraines and the depressions are kettles. The mounds are kames.

Ah yeah, I remember learning about those in a natural history class. It is really cool seeing how the glaciers have shaped the landscape in this area. And it's cool to know they impress even someone who hikes in the PNW! Thanks so much for watching :)

Awesome video, great resolutions, and some perfect shots! When Robby went down to the lake one last time the last shot was just stunning. As annoying of weather Michigan can have, it is a wonderful state! Really liked all the fungi IDs. that earth star was pretty cool!!

I can’t decide which I enjoy most-your beautiful nature shots, seeing what you’re seeing on your hikes, or your honest and open conversations with each other. Actually, it’s the combination of all three that make your videos so interesting and satisfying for me. Kudos to Robby for his comment on people trying to improve themselves at 1:02:45. So refreshing to hear such a sincere viewpoint in today’s snarky, cynical world.
