I caught the AA bug when I first began to enjoy the idea and activity of backpacking. I kept watching. Two years later, during this episode, I began to wonder why I am so emotionally invested in your program. I arrived at this conclusion: AA is a brilliant display of sincere, modern men being men. The good humored camaraderie, the love, the respect for nature and each other, the closeness. Those qualities are all but absent from pop-culture. But, here it is - of all places on TH-cam. Don't take what you have here for granted; there is huge demographic and thirst for this genre, which may entirely belong to you. I say now's the time for a bigger push. Amazon/Netflix need to know your names.
Thank you so much for the kind words! We didn't even really know what we were going for exactly when we first started out, but we knew we wanted to present ourselves as genuinely as possible, and that we didn't want any fake drama or anything like that. Thanks again for the comment, and thank you for watching!
I whole heartedly concur. I do not binge on series or programs as the media culture begs this absence of truest anthropological wealth and humanistic wellness which is the reason why I seem to not be able to put this channel away. Bravo to you four for this quintessential offering of what wellness in self, inner serenity and an affinity with nature to which is we all are richer in sharing! Bliss T. Just wanted to say hello, my name is Jim, I am 50 yrs old a Michigan resident and your Lake Superior video is what brought me to your channel. My wife and I van camp a lot mainly state forest campgrounds and do like to day hike but always return to the van to sleep ? Your videos are incredible great humor when it gets tough, love the information on identifying plants trees etc. I am taking my turn with Covid as I text and have been binge watching your videos for 4 days now lol. You know what this hasn’t been to bad 😂 keep up the good work guys !!!
AN EPISODE WITH ALL 4 OF YOU IS QUITE A PLEASURABLE JOURNEY. ANDREW IS ALWAS INTRIGUE WITH EVERYTHING IN NATURE THAT HE SEE:) WONDERFUL SPIRIT AND ENERGY FROM EACH F YOU...ESPT TINDER :)!
I've said this countless times, and I'll say it again - the production quality and all around charisma of these videos is amazing and uplifting. I didn't think you could improve from previous videos, but this is definitely one of your best yet. Well done and keep up the great work :)
Hope this mssg gets to y’all. My 6th watch of y’all channel..! Love seeing y’all eat camp food and food afterwards and the small skits after ❤️ now I want a good pizza! Cheers
I love Andrew‘s commitment to explanation and I really feel he communicates his joy for all the plants. I think it’s really very exciting to learn all that
Growing up in Michigan I’m thinking “what, no fire? No overhead tarp?, no real breakfast cooked over that fire?”… You guys are great. There’s nothing like Lake Michigan, the beautiful forests & 4 fun guys, one of whom is a Fungi expert (yum) 😎 Thanks for sharing with us.
🍃🌹🍃, You guys are great! I just discovered you. Michigan is my stomping ground, born & raised here! I have never hiked or camped where you guys go, RAINING OR WINTER, Brave Y'all are! Your videos are very informative, entertaining and just plain great and fun. THANK Y'ALL & GOD BLESS & GOD SPEED🙏🌱 Mucha suerte y cuídense mucho, Dios los bendiga!!!🌱💪✌️🙋♀️👍💯
lol i made my mom watch this video while we ate breakfast.. she says 1. youre all crazy. and 2. Robbie doesnt blink. like i said commenting and liking all the videos so they go onto other peoples pages. my comments: Another video well done. and i didnt fully realize that ALL the music was produced by you. I thought a few songs here and there. thats so amazing that you guys are like a one stop shop for video, editing, music, info...like a nerd swiss army knife. its amazing. and i made a list of all the LONG hikes starting from 10 years ago, to your new ones, and you can see how much growth and change is going on.
Thank you so much! On our shorter videos we sometimes use royalty-free music, but for our "Full Episodes," we only use our own music :) Thanks again for watching, and tell your mom thanks for watching as well :)
You do know that you have ruined me from watching any other outdoor youtube videos right??? They all fail to captivate me much like your videos do. You all have a gift and I am glad you share it with us. You create a drive or stir a hunger up in people to get out into the outdoors (which I'm sure are your intentions) but aside from that, you make educate and entertain the viewer all while making us feel like we are a part of your close knit friendship.
The compassion for one another at the new year count down was beautiful. Hearing your new year's resolutions, watching in awe, I felt goosebumps race across my body. You all are living life one day at a time and I think we can all learn something from that. Much love.
BREATHTAKING BEAUTY COLORS VIEWS SCENERY VIDEO ! THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME TAG ALONG WITH YOU ALL ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED !
My two favorite scenes: 1) Your John, Paul, George & Ringo lakeside version of the Abbey Road walk! 2) All 4 of you humming/muttering/singing Auld Lang Syne ! Yet another fantastic journey...thank you AA!!
I finally made it to Nordhouse Dunes to camp with some friends and I cannot believe this is what Michigan is like 🤩 Thank you all again for introducing me to a beautiful place in my own country
After spending the last few icy and windy upstate NY days watching most of your videos while I work on freelance illustrations/design I had to "go out to lunch" yesterday. I packed up for snowshoeing trip on the mountain and cooked outside under an evergreen in a snowfall. I'm always hiking in the summer but now I find myself wanting to be out more in the winter, thanks to you guys. I just signed on as a new patron as well, these videos are worth contributing too!
So I actually came across this while sat playing Minecraft yesterday when TH-cam was doing its famous auto-play, I've not stopped watching these since. Amazing videos, they make me feel like I am still seeing the world despite being housebound so thank you guys :)
I'm impressed with how rad this hike is, even with a PNW perspective. Neat glacial terrain everywhere. The hills are moraines and the depressions are kettles. The mounds are kames.
Ah yeah, I remember learning about those in a natural history class. It is really cool seeing how the glaciers have shaped the landscape in this area. And it's cool to know they impress even someone who hikes in the PNW! Thanks so much for watching :)
So glad you guys finally went to Nordhouse! Its a place I would highly recommend visiting in the spring if you get the chance. Good weather and no crowds. Summer can be chaos.
I'm sure I never hiked in a CA snow bound area in the late 50s and early 60s but I recall the camaraderie of accomplishment being with friends wherever that took place. It WAS terrific then and it's a different kind of terrific seeing this video as a geriatric and knowing that nothing ever took my own experience from me. That's my own good luck and I wish each of you your own in decades to come! GRAZIE an' 'at : )
I am binge watching your videos during COVID. So much better than watching Netflix. I get to see beautiful places in the US, and it makes me want to travel. I live in Canada, on the West Coast. I especially want to see Lake Superior, after watching both your videos of hiking there.
Thomas why so serious? Awesome episode guys. I have to ask after seeing so many episodes more than once, I love that you guys share the food & talk about it but do you all get a full meal? You can't really be sharing a cup of noodles for 3 or 4 people right, I know you had 4 on this trip but I swear I've seen you guys eating off of one lonely cup-o-noodles? If you guys ever want to head out to Washington hit me up I live in an outdoor paradise with access to all kinds of trails. The Pacific North West trail goes through here & the cascades are about 15 minutes away, a hidden gem that rivals the best the USA has to offer. Also you guys gotta get a digital thermometer so we can get a better idea of how cold it is if you can.
I can’t decide which I enjoy most-your beautiful nature shots, seeing what you’re seeing on your hikes, or your honest and open conversations with each other. Actually, it’s the combination of all three that make your videos so interesting and satisfying for me. Kudos to Robby for his comment on people trying to improve themselves at 1:02:45. So refreshing to hear such a sincere viewpoint in today’s snarky, cynical world.
Forgot to add this to my previous post, that is the best way to bring in the New Year, out in nature. My husband and I will do this next year. Thanks for your awesome videos. As always happy hiking!!!!
I spend a lot of time in the dunes so it was a treat to see you in this local! I just photographed it in sub-zero temps. The ice shelves were amazing! Good thing the weather was (relatively) milder for you guys! The dunes succession trail may be of interest to you as you go through 7 different habitats in under a mile. Thanks for sharing another amazing video, look forward to each one!
All of you guys are special...BUT, if I had to choose one of you to, say, hike the AT with or paddle across an ocean...Brian. Even when you can tell he's not orgasmic with joy or energy, he just takes it all in stride - while not broadcasting or taking it out on others - and keeps putting one foot in front of the other. So chill. Additionally, when he does speak, which isn't a great deal, he's pretty thoughtful, to the the point, and refreshingly honest/unguarded. I can imagine he's a great adventure companion, as all of you seem to be. Nice video.
Awesome video, great resolutions, and some perfect shots! When Robby went down to the lake one last time the last shot was just stunning. As annoying of weather Michigan can have, it is a wonderful state! Really liked all the fungi IDs. that earth star was pretty cool!!
You guys give me serious ramen cravings. Unfortunately instant noodles aren't nearly as satisfying at home as they are camping. I used to basically shut myself in during the winter. Then grumble about how long it took spring to arrive. But it's your videos like this one and the dolly sods winter that really encouraged me to just suck it up and get out there. (And it's always rewarding once you're there) So thank you guys. Really, I mean it. Thanks for not turning around once you saw the rain and snow. You all set a positive example for all your fans.
Indeed insulated and lined pants are a must. Rainpants serve as a wind break too.Sleeping with warm water bottles is a pro tip too, have layers inside sleeping bag. --- Loved the video was so happy when I saw the upload
Oh and throw in a few pair of cheap diy finger less gloves so you at least have one layer on your hands :) as the video continued I wanted to provide more tips. I lived in northern MN for most of my life and I've faced cold weather camping many times. Sleep with your gloves and most things that you don't want frozen, (under your pad works if its too packed inside your sleeping bag) at 32:54 this method would have offered some help.
What i enjoy most about your videos is your campfire talks. It's almost reminiscent of childhood movies i watched such as Stand By Me" wishing i could go out to wilderness with a group of friends and enjoying that life.
so happy that you guys are constantly giving us fresh content !!!! absolutely love it !! love the music (: i can’t tell you guys how grateful i am for your videos
"I'm gonna spend the last moments of 2018 with my best friends...some of whom will be crying!"!!! Thank you guys for all the awesome episodes this past year. Looking forward to this years' adventures!
Great video!!! Watching you is cathartic for me and encouraging as well. The quality is absolutely amazing. I've watched pretty much everything several times and will probably continue to do so. Thank you for sharing this part of your lives with us.
Thank you for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video! We really appreciate you watching our videos, and thanks so much for sharing in the adventure with us :)
Ah Nordhouse. Winter camped there last Feb, a shakedown hike for my 2018 CDT thru hike last year. Gotta say, Nordhouse is a LOT more fun in the summer!
I am not a hiking person, but I have been watching you videos and really enjoyed them. Very nice original music, great video, and philosophical too. Thank you.
I have watched all you full videos at least twice. And sadly on Friday I hurt my back at work🙄 so I binged watched all you full length episodes from start to finish over the course of 2 days. Great work as always guys keep up what you doing.👍
You guys are doing amazing work. Every summer it’s a tradition for my long time friends and I to backpack a week in the wilderness. Your videos keep my inspiration going as I wait for summer. Love the videos and the podcast.

This was a really nice adventure. All except the cold, the snow, the winter. LOL But you four warmed it up for me. Thanks.
I come back to this episode every new year to watch the part where yall ring in the new year and talk about resolutions.
Such an uplifting episode. Thanks so much in sharing your journey and for sharing your hearts. It means a lot. Blessings, Teri Hope

Love how you show people you don't need a thousand dollar plus four season tent to go winter camping awesome video.
Definitely! Just some good insulation and a lot of determination, haha. Thank you for watching!
Sharing is careing,ya'll 1aws best friends forever!!!!
Godbless 4of u 😘 always 💖
You guys are great! Most billionaires would be envious of the joy and friendships you have.
No tics, no skeeters and not many people, just perfect!!

I was just hiking here. It was cool because all of the meadows you saw were small ponds when I was there.
thanks guys
Awesomeness
Always a great when Bryan is in the mix!
I love the little food sharing frenzy. I wish I had friends who were willing to go on crazy adventures like that.
Ya'll are so cute😍
The balance of voices and music, video, story, and just being yourselves all adds up to another great composition.
Best part of cold weather camping is snow keeps you dryer. Waking up you dust off your tent, instead of packing a heavy wet one. Stay warm my friends.
Loved that music when the credits starting rolling
My head was bouncing up and down during the count down with smiles of miles 😀😀😀😃😃😃
There's something surreal about watching this video in the middle of a heat wave in summer.
My two favorite scenes:
1) Your John, Paul, George & Ringo lakeside version of the Abbey Road walk!
2) All 4 of you humming/muttering/singing Auld Lang Syne !
Yet another fantastic journey...thank you AA!!

I'm sure andrew will oblige and eat more bugs lol

If I could afford to go hiking every week I would that is why I watch you guys you are some of the best guys on TH-cam
Thank you so much! Hope you get to go hiking soon, and thanks for watching :)

Hahahaha
Congrats on another great one boys. Yes it was full of Hygge. Very fun.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Haha, this was our most Hygge episode yet. Cheers!
@@AdventureArchives Hygge is key.
One thing I learned in this episode: the word "rivulet." Neat!
You guys do amazing videos!.....they just keep getting better and better! (I love the post hike meal endings).
Thank you so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoy them, and thanks for watching :) The post hike meal is definitely classic

Watching this instead of the super bowl, heyyyy!
So good. Loved the New Year’s Eve scene. You guys are so precious!
I don't know why I love watching you guys eat so much but I do!
Thx for the Adventure..

Thank you so much for the kind words, and thank you for watching :) I'm missing those grinders...

Ah Nordhouse. Winter camped there last Feb, a shakedown hike for my 2018 CDT thru hike last year. Gotta say, Nordhouse is a LOT more fun in the summer!
