Love the video. Im going to get me that fish finder too. I recently purchased the xpower magnetic transducer mount. Do you remember me i was the guy that called while u was driving and had to pull over to chat with me cause i had a hard time getting the payment through. Damn you did a terrific job on it. That thing is so strong i couldnt really pull it apart. Lol. Worked wonderful. Also going to get the battery and the swivel mount for it.

Does the fitting on the power cable and transducer wires have any type of retainer that holds them to the back of the Garmin head unit? Or, do they just push in? I am curious to know if there is potential for the cables to pull out. Lowrance uses a twist lock retainer on their products. I am not familiar with Garmin. Thanks.

No it does not Loren. Actually, Lowrance has moved away from the twist lock connectors in their new Hook2 series unfortunately. But your statement is true of the older generations with Lowrance. All the Garmin finders we have and have used are all press fit connectors.

I have this unit... the thing dislike about it the most are the cables connecting to the unit. There are no threaded spin on connectors, just the push in type. Also the pins are very small, not sure how long it will be before I misalign the plug and bend some of them. When you fish every week like I do it becomes a pain not having any type of quick disconnect system for the cables when you need to remove the unit from your boat to protect against theft. Because of that alone I will not be purchasing another if this one fails.

I get the black and red cables with the yellow inline fuse go to negative and positive on the battery but what does the light brown and blue wire hook to?

Those are networking cables (NMEA). If you are using it as a stand alone unit, then you don't need those.

@@Fishfindermounts ok so your saying if I'm using one unit then I can just disregard them?

Hi. I'm looking at getting the striker plus 7sv but will only be able to use it on a battery. What's the battery I need to keep it going for a long time but keeping it practical still? Nice vid

sure wish someone would show and describe what those rubber pieces are on the ends of the 3 cables and how to connect them so THE CABLES DON'T FALL OFF OF THE PLUGS. THEY SHOULD BE THE SCREW ON TYPE!!!!!!!!!

Was the camera operator drunk? They kind of ruined this for you. Next time lock them out of the room and just use the tripod.

I totally agree Corsa. I didn't think it was hard to shoot something, but my it turns out my pal helping me was rather devoid of the talent unfortunately. Sorry for the poor shoot!
