you can stuff a folded over old credit card in the caliper to prevent it from pushing out the piston if you bump it while the wheel is off. they also make a spacer specific to the caliper for that reason!!

I'm planning to upgrade my fork soon. In the past I've bought used forks which came with the star nut and crown race. This time I plan to just buy new. I intend to order a split crown race at the same time, to save messing about too much. That way my old rubbish fork will be available as a spare, so I still have my bike even if I have to send my forks off for service or repair.

Great Job! Whenever something came up you figured it out. I learned and will be changing a fork on my bike soon.

5:38 you could ziptie the stem to something. I got a tray so I slide the grips in so it stays put, and I put the fork on the repair stand arm when I service bearings. this way I don't havbe to tkae off the brake caliper, but you are swapping fork here so this doesn't apply but just sharing what I do.

Thanks for pointing out the error of not attaching the crown race. I noticed the crown race was not removed from the old fork. I guess the crown race comes with the headset and not with the fork, as the crown race must match the headset in order to ensure a matching fit?

Maybe a Rock Shox Reba would've been better...and lighter. 1800g
But maybe a little bit more expensive.
Anyway, a air fork is a lot better than the one with the spring.
    What size is it?
    26"?
    And go up to 120mm
You're getting more suspension travel and a slightly slacker head angle
    By the way, nice bike.
    What did you say?
    Felt 820?
You improvised pretty good on getting the star nut in and the crown in place.
I think I try some of that by myself. 😅👍🏼

I won't ever again buy a Suntour product I had luck with the Raidon XC LO R Air fork on my Diamondback Atroz but I had problems out of the box with the shock and they never took care of it absolutely crappy customer service although the fork was great for $200.00 their customer service on the other hand not so much also with no clicks on rebound it tends to move around meaning I had to keep adjusting the rebound not a fan of them but I hope you have better luck with them than I did

interesting enough they said I bought my bike secondhand when I proved that was not the case and they knew that prior to that as they upgraded the fork meaning I had to send them proof of purchase idiots that don't wanna cover the product unless you spend big money on it
