I own the 2022 Giant Trance 27.5 X3 .... basically your bike painted in good grey, glossy black, purple accents and I love it. Thank you very much for your advice on forks and shocks settings .
I didn't know Steve Howey road mountain bikes 🤣 Solid video friend! you do want to bounce it a bit and loosen them up, then replace the rings while you stand in "ready position" with your full riding gear on.
Thank you for this. My first time having an air fork and was trying to figure out how much air to put in. You telling us about the factory sticker for the front shock helped out a ton!
Have you tried the specialized Airtool UHP? It does both Shock and wheel pump. Only thing i had to re do the air pressure on my rockshox recon siilver solo air it has a chart that says 80mm for fat riders aka my self 400lbs it says 175psi I miss read that turns out my fork is 100mm so I put 150 sweet spot between the 135 psi and 205 psi working great! I keep a mini shock pump to see if it has the same reading and it came out to the same reading 150! I was very lucky to get the UHP for 75$ cause of the money I had left in my Incycle account.
Great video i just buy an GIANT similar like yours GIANT ANTHEM ADVANCED and i dont know how much to put on the Shock is to soft when is UNLOCK the forks are to hard so we are same weight 210 lb so im going to copy and se how shes perform THANKS
question...there are 2 forks in front...there is only one side with the air nipple....does the for share the air across the pipe connecting both when you inflate?
I know the question is stupid, but when you put air in the fork you only have to put air in the left side right? Or on both sides? Like does the fork put the air in both sides by itself or do you have to pump also the right top side of the fork?
I have that kind of pump from rockshox, and i did everything as you did in this video, but when i screw it off of the bike after pumping the fork loses all air… what can i do about this? Is some part broken?
Hmmm that is odd. If that's the case it may be a fork problem. If it is, they often have warranties and that will hopefully cover the repair! Let me know how it goes!
@@mtbnoob6464 idk it worked when the seller did it with the same pump 10 months ago and when i tried it now it didnt work… the bike is a Trek Marlin 8 so it shouldn’t be a quality of fork issue. I might have to go to the bike store again to see whats wrong
@@L4T3_I had the same problem. I tried different ways and found that the pump must be at the right depth in the valve quite deep for the air to remain.
Hey! I don't believe so. A normal tire pump usually doesn't provide enough PSI to properly inflate the shock and I don't think it would be able to properly connect to the shock. I'd recommend buying a cheap shock pump! But if you do try it, let me know how it goes!

Hey I um got a shock pump maybe 4 weeks ago now I go to use it (it’s a digital one) it won’t read the current pressure so I pump up my for and when I’m done it and unscrew it all the air I pumped in just leaks out and idk what to do.
Thanks for the helpful vid! Question about riding the bike. I've noticed that many full suspension bikes are carbon now. Does the bike feel heavier because it is a full suspension alloy bike? I'm considering buying one want to hear your opinion.
I've only ever ridden allow bikes, so I don't actual know the feel difference between the two. I'm sure the bike being even lighter would be pretty beneficial and help improve maneuverability when riding. I know they usually come with a bigger price tag, so that's definitely something you would have to include when weighing the pros and cons. Keep shredding!
Hey @juffkasvennsson4609 as far as I know you should be able to unscrew the cap, hook up the pump and pump as much air as desired! Then after you can adjust the other more intricate settings to your exact preferred feel. Let me know how it goes!
Dont you have to put air in the bottom of the shock aswell?. I only ask as ive seen other video's when they fill a valve at the top like you then one at the bottom of the shock.
I use the same pump on my Specialized Epic FSR. Unfortunately, when unscrewing the pump from the rear shock, it lets air out! To compensate you need to over pump the shock by 50 to 60 PSI so the excess air is the lands on your preferred weight. If someone has a better idea is will be welcome!!!
I have a Trance X 29 2. I was bottoming out and I took it to dealer. He said air was really low and added air. After 2 weeks, it started to bottom out again. Very frustrating.
Because that front shock is junk. I replaced mine with a Fox Factory Float 34. Replaced the crap rear Suntour with a rock shox Monarch RL. Way better ride.
Dude that really blows chunks that I went out and bought a $600 dollar air compressor that you would expect should suffice to fill up my bike shock just to find out that I have to buy one of those little bad boy ones off Amazon for a few dollars. This is an outrage. Why is not specified on the shock itself. So no, I disagree with all shock related videos that claim; “ it’s easy”. And also, to add to my life of complete frustration and major delay i can %100 percent confirm that they forgot to attach the air valve on my coil shock and when I took it back to Canadian tire nobody said anything. They just laughed when I expressed how it was my duream to bike from the rocky mnts all the way out tic

Great video for a complete noob, thanks! P.s. the "lesser the air?" part was very comical...
Thx for the vid bro. I now have a good idea of how to set up my shocks.
The amount of force needed on the pump to get up to 160psi on my shock was so much I thought that I was doing something wrong.

Heard if you add Vaseline after putting air and then putting cap on, will help with the tire pressure stay for a lot longer as weather changes
add it where?

Can you use a normal pump and use a car gauge to mean the psi?

how to let air out without tools as it is way too stiff
is it normal to loose some air pressure in the air chamber of the fork. i've been using it for a month and i lost 5mm of travel
