What the fuck has been netflix doing, they can easily adapt berserk and capitalize on it after so many failed attempts to properly adapt it. I still have hope though

Thors was too strong for anyone to face so they had to use archers and the high ground to cheat
Spoilers ahead.
For real. Askeladd himself was an absolute beast, able to go toe to toe with being surrounded by Thorkell's men, Jomsvikings and danish royal guards. Thorfinn was by no means a bad fighter, despite how clouded his vision got in his fights with Askeladd, but Artorius was a fucking monster. The only tims he got legitimately bested were by Thorkell's men, where it was 500 on 1, and in Sweyn's hall, where I'm pretty damn sure he let himself get killed by Canute. Those, and his 1 on 1 fight with Thors, who didn't even want to kill him.
Thors was basically a living war god.

Lo será para ti pero a mi lleno de extremo asco el ver que el hdp cobarde que asesino a su padre fue prácticamente el que lo crecio y el que le enseñó todo lo que sabe y lo convirtió en bqsura humana igual a el. Por la misma razón ni siquiera vi más de 20 capítulos del manga.
La animación no esta mal. Yo en mi caso odie esta historia. Me lleno de extremo asco el ver que el bqstardo que asesino a su padre fue el tipo que lo crecio, le enseño todo lo que sabe y lo convirtió en una basura igual a el. Por todo eso ni siquiera me vi 20 capítulos del manga.

Thorfinn wants to kill Askeladd in an "honorable" way. After Thorfinn's last duel with Askeladd, the latter tells him straight up "I hated my dad, a bit like you hate me, and let me tell you how *I* killed him : in his sleep, with someone else's weapon, and framed the dude I stole the weapon from."
From there, Thorfinn couldve easily killed Askeladd in his sleep or sucker punch him. But Thorfinn wanted to finish his father's duel the way it should have ended : with Askeladd being the loser. And we all know Thors wouldn't have killed Askeladd in a dishonorable way.
You forgot the part where Askeladd earned his father's trust. He didn't immediately kill his father, he waited years to learn what he needed and become a low suspect.@@thetheory6159

When first time see this didnt thought how strong thors he is who make ashkelad can do nothing just defend, and after finish the season and see how monster ashkelad really is, and back to this scene make me realize thors is not human defeat ashkelad with no diff.
What makes this even better is that Askeladd is a true king of England, descended from the Mighty Romans.

Askeladd putting up a fight to Thors but losing rather one sidedly really shows how good Thors was. Thors who had Thorkell beat in one swing.
Askeladd only struggled vs Thorkell's men, where it was 500 on 1, and essentially let himself get killed by Canute after slaughtering what I'm thinking is probably a dozen Jomsvikings by himself and almost killing Flokki, and couldn't land any strikes on Thors before having his blade taken away and put at his throat.

I would have loved to see thorfinn stoop lower, become even more unrecognizable before he was able to escape the grip of his anger & resentment. Plus I prefer angry thorfinn opposed to the “I have no enemies” thorfinn.
@@dukeguerrier866 how and why would he stoop any lower? he himself said he was empty after askeladd died. that was the whole purpose of him leaving behind all his family and friends and killing all those innocent people only to not even be able to get his revenge. not only that but he kinda cared for askeladd too which messed him up even more. he was pretty much completely broken and numb at that point.
and the whole second season is literally him learning to live with his demons and get back some of the things he lost and finally realizing what his father wanted. how is that not character development?
@@roninamok2477 Askeladd was a gun for hire. A pawn. To Askeladd his father’s death was transactional not personal.
Throfinn’s journey should have put him on a path to kill the conspires involved in his dad’s death. Even more so when you consider the bond between him and Askeladd.
Thorfinn’s desire to kill Askeladd was a distraction from dealing with his dad’s death. It’s just more in line with Throfinn to continue killing whomever, losing himself even more to continue putting that off. But instead Askeladd dies and he retreats to a farm? So all those kills were for what? Nothing? It sounds counterintuitive but it makes sense to continue his killing streak to justify the lives he took, to avoid dealing with his dad’s death, and possibly the guilt of knowing that what he’s become would make his father sick. His story is missing an arc or two to really flush him out IMO.

also I wouldn't say he retreated to the farm, canute made him a slave cause if he didn't he would've been killed, and that was really the only way canute could keep him alive after he attacked him in front of everyone,
