hey can you tell me what a true warrior is and why he doesn't need a sword, the first season really got me hooked with just that one statement by thor and i kept on wondering what he meant by that?? i was so intrigued that i couldn't wait for the second season so i read the manga but i couldn't find anything hardcore atleast nothing that i could connect to... even though i do realise that thorfinn has become a true warrior and he litterally don't need a sword but to be in that position don't you need a sword first?

i still didnt get it what does it mean to be a warrior what does it mean to be a human why do we exist if we see all of this according to nihilism then nothing matters these things have no meaning but if these things not have any meaning then you have to give it a meaning or a purpose
A true warrior doesn't put his needs above needs of others, he works and tries his best to make a better living for people he loves, and his love is unconditional, passionate and generous.
That's my interpretation of Vinland Saga
Nihilism is the right start in the search for meaning my friend, but do not stop there because nihilism will not fix your problems and is not the solution. At my worst nihilistic years I found sanity by reading about stoicist philosophers like Seneca, Hepictetus and Marcus Aurelius, they might point you to the right direction too. In this time and age where everyone searches for value in external things, standing by your convictions is the battlefield of the warrior. No matter the external results, if your convictions stay unbroken, you are a true warrior. Hence why "You have no enemies" since when Thors fought, his enemies were not his real enemies, but himself by taking human lives which clearly did not sit right with his principles. So he fought another kind of war, an internal war, and when the stakes could not have been higher he won, because he did not break his vow.
