for anyone wondering, Scott purchased this .700 nitro express rifle from rock island armory for around $20,000. it's a 10 gauge shotgun professionally converted to .700 nitro express. a "real" .700 nitro express rifle from holland & holland can go anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000, and you will most likely have to have them build one for you, since they very rarely pop up in auctions.

I'm only 5.5 and 165 lbs . So 30.06 is about the biggest recoil I can handle. It amazes me. To see Scott shoot a 700 magnum coach gun . You have to have demo ranch try that gun out. I don't think Matt would like it very much.

Try 12 gauge 3 1/2 inch shot shell. At 5ft 8 and 140lbs, it's about the most I can stand.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard the sequence of a cartridge being fired through a gun. You can actually hear the hammer dropping, the primer igniting, and then the explosion of the powder firing the bullet out of the gun. My father explained this concept to me years ago and I’ve also seen cutaway videos of it. However, actually hearing the concept in action is very interesting. Congratulations Scott for reaching 4 million subscribers. That is not an easy thing to achieve, again congratulations to you and your father as well. Both of your hard work is paying off. 😊🎉

On the last shot, you can hear a small click before the boom before he cuts to the slo-mo. I wasn't sure I was hearing it right at first. But if others heard it too, at least I'm not crazy. Lol
@@ryanburns3921I played it like 4 times, not only can you hear the click, you can hear it go “bloop” as it pushes the massive cartridge out the barrel before the explosion sounds comes out behind it

Scott I'm sure you've heard by now. Adam from Ballistic High Speed just suffered a catastrophic failure from an RPG. He luckily survived and is in recovery. Hopefully he will be back soon and fully recovered. I think a collab with between Ballistic High Speed and Kentucky Ballistics where you guys share your experiences would be really cool. It's cool to see that Scott picked up a few pro tips from the slow-mo guys cause i've noticed now he has started to lower the resolution to get faster speeds and messing with exposure to see some explosions more in detail keep up the amazing work Scott and here's to another 4 million subscribers

That is one of the coolest rifles I have ever seen. Anyone would think it is just a shotgun in a coach gun configuration.
Kudos to you also my friend, you shooting that beast like it was a shotgun. In full sized 18 lb configuration it delivers 160 ft lbs of recoil energy (depending on load) that is 6 times the recoil of a 12ga shotgun. That is almost double that of the 500 Nitro express. I cannot imagine just how hard that puppy kicks now.
Regardless it is one of the coolest rifles known.
In one article it mentions that it could reach up to the 200 ft lb mark, that's insane.

Not 100% sure if your 700 Nitro is still in production. And while I'm a firm believer in the freedom this awsome country bestows upon us I can't help but hope you won't destroy that 700. She deserves to, if anything, hang on the wall slightly shorter than she started. But again, she's yours and thankfully you're still free to do as you wish...at least for now.

Thanks sooo much for including the nerf round, everybody ignores this great projectile. You should do some ballistics testing on them. The wound channels and expansion kinda sux, but still a common round. You can buy them everywhere!.
Hahahah. And the effectiveness of a nerf round depends entirely on how fast it’s going. 😁 Backyard scientist made a video of a cannon that shoots a nerf dart at like 2,000mph and it’s absolutely devastating. Would be 100% deadly at that speed XD
It's a straight-walled cartridge. I bet you could really sauce it up if you necked it down to .35 caliber!

My kids and I love your channel- it’s refreshing that I can confidently have them around without any concern for inappropriate content. In fact, my 4 year old daughter wanted me to restart this video when she heard you smack the zombie head with the helmet the first time. Thanks for the entertainment! For science shoot various calibers at blocks of clay. The clay doesn't return to orginal shape so the full effect is seen.

I am not gonna lie that first shot made me think you were going to finally be defeated by recoil and get knocked flat on your back, so glad you're still the recoil king. Would love to see some of the other guys attempt to shoot it. However, congrats on the 4mill milestone it is well earned and well deserved, here's to 6mill more!

The last time I saw a fireball that impressive coming out of a muzzle, I was a U.S. Army Tank Platoon Sergeant, and the muzzle was the business end of a 105mm main gun of a M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank (first generation Abrams) when I was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX during night fire qualification!

The flame from the muzzle was awesome!!! So bright, you were illuminated as if in day light. That recoil must have hurt a little bit since it pushed your shoulder back at least 12".

Yeah prolly not,the biggest thing I shot was a 300 weatherby mag when I was 16 weighing 168 and it bruised my shoulder. I don't want to do that again but would love to own a 375 h&h mag tho.

It makes me miss shooting with my son's at our old house, we had 12 acres of land,,, so, once in a while we would take the guns out ( I would also teach my son's safe gun handling and safety.... Occasionally while out driving around, I would come across an old toilet tank for us to shoot at... Yes, we had fun, I miss those day. But your show brings it all back for me.... Amazing video (as usual). In the later shots I was having trouble seeing the recoil, it looked like a picture of a yellow Volkswagen, secondary knowledge from watching SlowMo Guys for so long, in lower light you can use a precision spotlight to illuminate yourself while picking up other light sources (the fireballs) in high-speed recordings.

Muzzle velocity and ft.lbs of energy would drop off drastically due to not getting maximum powder burn.
He would, but his chronograph keeps getting mysteriously broken.
I really like the rifle with the shorter barrels. Maybe you can do a breakdown on how velocity was affected and useful energy levels compared with full length barrels. You have to have a chronograph somewhere that you haven't shot yet.

I think making a 700 nitro express coach gun was a better idea than having it destroyed. Congratulations on making it to 4,000,000 subscribers. @@Sonicgott That 4 Bore is WAY too rare and valuable to destroy like that. Even this 700 Nitro is so far beyond anything you would ever see somebody saw the barrel off of. His 700 Nitro was likely worth between $10,000 to $30,000.

Am amazed to discover .700 Nitro Express only costs $80 for a box of 50 (just a $1.60/shot), but the double rifles chambered for it are extremely expensive, starting at about US$10,000 and selling up to US$260,000 in 2015, and have generally been replaced by repeater-rifles using rounds such as the .458 Winchester Magnum.
The .700 Nitro Express (17.8×89mmR) is a big game rifle cartridge, typically charged with around 250 grains of powder, in addition to a two grain igniter charge (to reduce the tendency of the cartridge to hang fire from such large powder charges). The cartridge was introduced in 1988 by the boutique gunmakers Holland & Holland (H&H) of London, England. The .700 nitro express ballistics develops an approximate average of 8,900 foot-pounds force (12,100 J) of muzzle energy with a 1,000 gr (65 g) bullet at 2,000 ft/s (610 m/s). Handloaders can push the cartridge to generate as much as 15,000 foot-pounds (20,000 J) of energy in a modern bolt action, by using a 1,000 gr (65 g) bullet fired at 2,600 ft/s (792 m/s). However, doing so necessitates a rifle so heavy it is almost inoperable for hunting purposes.

10k isn't bad if you can get one for that considering a m107 is around 12k and cheap bulk ammo atm is $3-$4 a round rn
Although looking further, other places, like Nyati, sell 700 Nitro Express for $500 for a 10-round box ($50/round). Most others are out of stock.

That last shot was pretty delayed😅 but this is what I imagined the Doom Slayers shot gun would be instead of the sawed off that Scott used and I know it's supposed to be a shotgun but it's close enough. Plus if you put slugs in it it's pretty much a rifle anyway. Also the fireball from the 700 nitro looks exactly like the fireball from the Doom Slayers shotgun in the game.

On one hand, I'm sad to see such a beautiful gun get such extreme and irreversible surgery.
But on the other hand, actual DOOM Super Shotgun.
Since you are using a shortened barrel you should change your load on the cartridges so that the powder burn completes before the bullet exists the barrel. So maybe work up a load using pistol powder. I think you will be able to get it to kick harder.

Dude! I'm a huge fan and my job gave me the opportunity to see Kentucky again for a cheerleader competition. We brought Bungie jumps so those who got bored. Really nice up here in Louisville. Too bad we don't get a day to look around any.
