@@QubitTechnologies Well, when you put it that way... my cat has completely destroyed the terrible mouse/rat infestation on our block. Subsequently, neighbors stopped putting out poison, and now we have a flourishing bird of prey population. Owls, hawks, kites... so cool!

I can relate. 31 years of marriage, 5 cats, and they ALL loved my husband more. I fed and brushed them, etc. 😼 Didn't matter. They were daddy's babies.😊

I used to call my late husband Johnny, the animal whisperer ...because all animals gravitated toward him.. now I have six cats and two dogs and they all gravitate toward my 22-year-old son, except for the last puppy I got, that imprinted on me...because she was just 5 weeks old when I got her after her mother passed away, and let her sleep in my bed...

It's really funny cuz she goes out and buys a fake beard and wears his clothes to look like her husband and it for the most part works. Roswell actually starts cuddling with her. I watched them a few years back and it's just hilarious the things she tries to get the cat to like her.

I had a similar situation with my greyhound. He loved my dad. Whenever my parents came to visit or whenever we visited them, he wanted my dad for everything. It was impressive because he started off being really suspicious of men. And somehow he decided over time that my dad was the best human in the world.

When I met my husband, he'd recently rescued an 8 year old cat, Milo. Milo *adored* my husband, and saw me as competition. He'd stake out my side of the bed and growl at me when I tried to get him to move. This went on for the rest of his life (he lived to 19). By the end, he'd cuddle with me a bit, but my husband was still the love of his life, and I was just a very distant second choice.
He definitely is one Big Daddy's boy. What a beautiful rescue happiness to all❤
We have a serval named Shiva, and she's always been my girl. Even now at 45lbs she still thinks she's a little kitten, and while she does tolerate my wife and is generally friendly towards her, when it's Shiva's snuggle time her attitude instantly changes to, "Back off lady, it's daddy time".
Owning servals and other non-domesticated animals should be illegal.
@@letolethe3344 She is 100% domesticated, from an Egyptian-domesticated line stretching back >70 years. Also, apart from that, servals 100% legal to own in my state. So you can complain all you want, but according to the law she's the same as any other house cat (but substantially larger).

@@mpettway6982Exactly, we kill lots of kitties and dogs each year in favor of Pretty animals. cats and dogs live with humans since forever, its cruel to buy animals who belong to their natural habitat because they are fancy, it doesn't matter if its domesticated or not, they are not house pets.
I adopted a cat for myself, but she fell in love with my dad and totally ignored me. But then she began to treat my mom just like Roswell treats this wife! 14 years it was that way 😂

Best way to get a cat to be interested in you is ignoring them.
Also, we humans are enormous to cats so I've always found it best to drop to their level to ensure I'm not too intimidating.

@@Sarandib22 👍Great advice! I truly hope Lindsey takes your advice, which would help IMPROVE her relationship with Roswell. Roswell is the PET CAT--NOT The Boss. Roswell has NO respect for Lindsey; the cat should see any adult human in the family as kind & nurturing, BUT in charge. Actually, does Roswell even respect Drew--or just use Drew as a doormat? Do they establish ANY behavior boundaries for Roswell? Or is all/most of the furniture scratched up; is the litter box always used or does Roswell relieve himself "wherever," etc.

This has definitely happened before in our lives as pet parents- but sadly, lately I've discovered that it isn't exclusively just pets with the preference!

My wife handles our pets a bit rough sometimes, while i show more compassion and love so naturally our pets love me more, when they see her they act differently

Just guessing, but he may make fewer sudden movements, loud noises, grabby motions and stare downs towards the cat.

Yeah, the way she puts her hand around his head triggers a bite in some cats (around 0:40). Hands below the chin, or from the side. Let the cat approach the hand if they're really jumpy.
Any sort of hand from above can be interpreted as a paw coming in for a swipe.

Cats like men more often than not. I don't know why, they just do. There's lots of exceptions though. One of mine is obsessed with my mom and will sit and facetime with me if I'm talking to my parents.
There are several rather simple reasons - men are better sources of heat and men in general are also not as needy as women - that's a big one for cats.

Exact same thing happened with us. My cat even looks a lot like yours aside from the fact that ours only has three legs. I actually was indifferent towards her at the beginning. My wife tried forcing herself on the cat. She chased her down the hallway. She'd grab her and pick her up and cuddle with her, by force. The cat never volunteered her affection for the first week or two. Then suddenly she did something that surprised us both. She jumped up on the bed, slowly made her way between me and the edge of the bed and plopped down real close to me. This became a regular thing. I started liking her more and more. She always gives me those wet nose kisses. I named her Madam Curie. To this day she doesn't want anyone's attention but mine!!

exactly. you can't return unfriendly/aggressive actions with the same, it shapes how your cat sees you
That cat does not hate you lol. He is slow blinking you in one of those clips and that is a sign of affection. That early clip where she reaches for the cat over his head, that is scary for cats and they don't like that. That is why he was vocal toward you, he was telling you he didn't like it. Even some my cats do a little duck when I reach for their heads too fast, its instinct.
You should try taking over feeding time and be the only one who fills his bowl and gives treats. Also play with him every day with cat teasers and other toys. That way he will build a positive association between you and good things (play and food). It will strengthen your bond, and his trust in you.
It is normal for cats to have a favorite person. They tend to gravitate toward calm and confident energy.

Cats sometimes choose 1 human they prefer. My present kitty Romana..I was her world for many years but I kept leaving for 2 weeks to go visit my daughter..it was one too many times now shes obsessed with her daddy....OBSESSED..she still loves me but she loves him so much. Make sure you're the one that feeds the kitty and takes care of all their needs..they'll know you care and love you.
I have a dog just like that, it's crazy, I can't even get around my husband when he gets home from work,,lol

The exact same thing happened to me. I was the one that brought her in the house. She was a stray that lived on our deck for a year. Hubby wasn't happy. NOW, the minute he gets home from work they are laying on the floor together, having a "love fest"! After she has ignored me all day! If I even look her way or try to pet her she goes in another room. ARGGG!
I have seen this one before: the lady at some point starts wearing a beard to see the cat's reaction. And surprisingly the cat is more accepting of her.
