    All three towns are in Alachua county please what ever you do don't buy in Alachua county the property taxes are some of the highest in the state!!! If your looking to move near here there are great towns all around Gainesville within a few min. travel. After a lot of research we decided on Union county super low taxes, cheap power, friendly people, great place to live!!!

      @@kevinmullins4919 It’s at minimum with little to no traffic from the center of Gainesville 20 to 30 minutes to be out of the county of Alachua. I suppose many make the trip. Problem is business complain they can’t find workers. Well lets say you live out of the county and commute daily to and from Gainesville. How much are you really saving on taxes if you add gasoline to the equation?

    What’s it like to live in Gainesville? Higher prices for everything including groceries. Predictable gridlock. But decent people. If you like outdoor activities you will get bored after a few years. What we really need now that Paines Prairie officially a lake. Is some places to launch boats. And let us park on 441 again. We’re paying high taxes to live here but we aren’t allowed to enjoy the benefits of more Prairie access.

    Hi, could you please share if any of those 3 towns is not covered by GRU?

    • @LivinginGainesvilleFlorida
      @LivinginGainesvilleFlorida  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GRU does not provide utilities to Newberry, Alachua and High Springs. GRU provides water to some areas in Newberry but Clay Electric provides the power.

      @fireheart_7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LivinginGainesvilleFlorida Someone mentioned GRU is more expensive than the other companies around there. Is this difference significant?

    • @LivinginGainesvilleFlorida
      @LivinginGainesvilleFlorida  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@fireheart_7 It can be a noticeable difference. I've talked to a few people that moved out of GRU's coverage and their savings range from about $50-$100 per month.

    • @rolandthethompsongunner64

      @@fireheart_7 They’re not really more expensive. Actually about the same or more. Install solar if your buying or building. Because natural gas isn’t cheap anymore either.

      Any house in Florida under 100k is probably going to need at least 50k in upgrades. And in Gainesville even those are extremely scarce. It’s 200k and up or live in an undesirable part of town in a pos.

      Alachua and Gainesville both show up poorly on most crime stats. I don't think those stats accurately reflect what it's like to live here. There are some areas, like in any town that seem to have more challenges than other areas. If you have already found a house, I would suggest spending some additional time in the neighborhood, during the evening and weekends and see if you can talk with any of the neighbors.
