Ive always wanted my Transformers to be toys that not only can I display,but most of all - play with. Without fear od scratching paint or breaking something. DS seem to be Perfect choice for me - all of the above,low price and toon accuracy to a fault. Perfect! 🥰😍

I have to admit I love the fact they painted the bicep in two colors to match the rest of the arm around it. So many companies basically have it as one solid color so you have this ugly rectangle jutting into a part that isn't the same color. And while KFC's offering is obviously amazing looking with the metallic paint job, it just doesn't fit very well alongside most other MP figures because of it. And let's face it, it's an old figure.
While I would wager good money the FT version will be better, this version will be both infinitely cheaper and far easier to get.
i really like how this turned out but what a shame they did not master massshifting smh. All jokes aside it'd have been cool if they had included a mini tape deck accessory similar to the one that came with MP tracks
Well done, you! I think he looks as good as can be without FT price tag! I'm a sucker for animation accurate figures.
Not as well built/painted though. Ima get both this one for play and FT for display I guess it all depends on why you collect
I have DS Blaster on pre-order from ShowZ & i can't wait until he ships because he looks amazing to me & goes quite well with RP Acustic Wave as both have a sort of mat finish appearance...I'm keeping my KFC Blaster as I've kept my MP Soundwave because I have the same metallic version as u & I think they look extremely well together also...it'll be a kind of now & then display for me but I think they all look gorgeous on display together...I will say this, DS are now beginning to get a really good stamp on bot builds as I can clearly see the esthetic similarities between this Blaster & their Seekers & I'm loving it!
I _REALLY_ like this growing trend of good-looking plastic instead of paint everywhere. Some paint is fine, but it keeps you from enjoying the figure as a transformer. Always worried about chipping. I really liked transforming MP Megatron, except now he looks like he's been cutting himself shaving. Same for MPM Jazz. I waited specifically to get the non-painted red plastic KFC Transistor too. Give me more like Robot Paradise Acoustic Wave, please!!
Can’t agree more!!! Paint, although pretty is overused on figures that transform whereas they should be a “statue only” type thing.
Dammit. You’re right about that sliver of red above the yellow tape door in bot mode. Maybe we’ll be able to mod the door to sit lower or shave a bit off the top edge. I checked google images for the fanstoys blaster and of course they have the sliver of red.
Ooh, that looks lovely! Might have to pick one of those up. Crimson Wings is fantastic, if a bugger to transform, so id be ok with buying from this company again.
And there's no such thing as too cartoon accurate in my book!

One thing I'm really hating with new tf is the holes and screws all over the place. They need plastic plugs you can pop in to cover them up. Maybe 3rd, 3rd party releases. Sort of like toy hax for the sticker side. But a company to do some 3d printing to cover all those unsightly holes.
The silver screw on the back is very distracting

Looks really good. If it was cheap like the TE Mirage I might be more tempted to pick it up but at over £100 I'll wait for the better painted Fanstoys.
Just got mine for 90 dollars.
A fanstoys version would cost way over 200.
Also this is a much bigger figure than mirage

Wow this was quick! Great job posting this review so early! Thank you! I generally do like toon accuracy at times but to me this doesnt look great. This is a better quality figure no doubt but I’ll stay with my old KFC figure which just needs to stay on my shelf looking good. I rarely manipulate or transform my figures.
Ahhhh!! I was hoping for butterfly 🦋. I really like the sculpts of Transform Element/Deformation Space but that one articulation issue keeps them from being a perfect 10/10. I don’t own any FansToys but is my same exact gripe with them. I like to pose my MP’s in ways that make them more lifelike not just spread dynamic action poses. Great review BTW.
I love butterfly joints , it seems so odd they used the double shoulder and not angle it to come forward and back

The tape can be transformed with keeping the guns on but yeah, I imagine it's easier to just take them off and the put them back on after you have it in tape mode.
Yeah it can , just copying the instructions but yeah no need to remove them (although they pop off very easily)
That's the future of ab crunches that don't break the mold.
I love the look of this Blaster. For the G1 toys, I always prefer the closest to cartoon route.
On on this fellow, as he looks toon accurate (which is what I'm after), and I've not been disappointed with any of the TE/DS bots. Plus the transformation looks fairly intuitive. Thanks again for this review Ben.

Nice 1st look at him. Looking at the FansToys renders the tape part looks to be sitting in the same place as the DS one...
Wow that is wonderful. I have the Legacy one in my hand and he isn't far off being as good looking, but the Blaster you have is perfection. If the mainline figure had the headsculpt of the 3P version, he would be even closer to it. I just bought the SG TE01 for my son and I am so impressed with these guys.
This is the Blaster for me. Absolutely want the MMC Autobot Cassettes for him. Still hoping MMC gets around to Ratbat Slugfest and Overkill.

Quality video. If I didn't have the unexpected chomp balance to pay off this would been the figure I got, such is life. Looks fantastic tbh and I very good price. Not a fan of ramhorn though.
Even though I will buy the Fans Toys Blaster I will also keep supporting this company and buy the DS-02.
It seems we finally have an actual contender for the best 3rd party MP TF action figure company to go against FT.
It will look like MS competing against NA on the legends scale, being that DS is the MS equivalent and FT the NA equivalent.

The biggest gripe for me is DS’ yellow tape box seems too high and small in radio mode. Proportions-wise I like Kfc, but toon-accuracy I like DS. I’ll hold out to see FansToys. They have solid figures and love their Springer.
after seeing some reviews and some hq pictures of this guy, I think I will be sticking with my KFC version. The quality looks good and he is a great representation of the toy. But its lacking some extra oomf to the details that I feel the KFC version pulls off better. Having said that, if I were to have to choose between the two right now, I would probably end up going with DS's due to price point, and simplicity, but since I already have KFC, I dont think I will be swapping him out anytime soon. Im pretty happy with him as is and dont feel the need to move over.
I HATE XTB, but for some reason I love KFC's Blaster. 100% agree about that oomf, as I personally am going with a Studio OX style collection, the empty slabs of the toon accurate look normally would make this a hard pass for me. Luckily ShowZ had both for $134 so I nabbed both just to be sure, cause man that ab crunch is crazy and I can always swap parts.

I’m a sucker for paint and I’m with everyone here In regards to sticking with kfc version.
With that said- hope I don’t change my mind 3 to 6 months from now. Which I’ve done on more then a few items on impulse buys I’ve regretted
Seems like am MP version of the Unique Toys figure. I'm fine with the matte red Transister version.
The DS version is very impressive but I still love the KFC version. I snagged one for a great price with all 4 cassettes. The KFC is not toon accurate but that's never really bothered me. I mean he's still Blaster with a different aesthetic. I may still get the DS version. Maybe they will release him in a set with all 4 cassettes.
My copy had too tight bicep rotation, the screw for it on rear upper arm had been over tightened and the Phillips head “cross” groove was torn up; also plastic stress marks on the booty. The orange plastic is a good toon color match to my naked eye but looks like a budget friendly choice after all the paint on the DS seekers. Ram horn is a tight squeeze in the tape deck, especially with his pointy horns poking out a tiny bit in tape mode. I’m mostly satisfied with the figure but disappointed in the QC on mine and don’t think it’s a contender to beat the toy coming from FT. Of course, it’s cheaper and can fill the Blaster spot on the shelf, particularly for a toon accuracy fan.

Waiting for Fans toys . This seems superior for people who like flipping their figure around which I completely respect but I’m a display guy so I’ll wait for Fanstoys as we al know it will be painted and built better.
I am not a fan of Blaster but if I was this would be the version for me. Great bot, great transformation, and great alt mode. Wow they're making some of the best transformers of late.
I don't have Transistor. I'm not a hypertoon fan so hopefully I can pick up Transistor cheap. Once this guy starts hitting collections.

they're both fantastic, However I prefer the cartoon accurate personally
Design wise it looks great, love the toon look. But yes, you’re right the plastics looks too flat and a little cheap. If FansToys didn’t announce, I’d be all over this. But at least it’s much cheaper than FansToys.

A Marvel G1 comic/G1 toy style head or face should've come in the box...not sure why they didn't do it, and I don't buy "bcuz hypa tuun ackrit" for a split second...largely because the KFC/XTB offerings (Blaster & Twincast) didn't do it either, and they're anything but an anime accurate offering. And they can't say "nobody wants that", not when the alternative G1 toy style face is a thing with MP36+ (to be fair, they still haven't done G1 toy style heads/faces for MP10/MP44 or MP11 mold/MP52 mold to this day, soooooo...maybe folks really don't want that??).
Either way, whichever one I go in on, I'm definitely gonna have to get another Soundwave to go with it - that Hasbro Year of the Goat Soundwave and his Minions just ain't cuttin' it anymore. 😆😆😆
While I do think he's a little better than Transistor, I don't think he's "time to upgrade" better. If that makes sense

That seamless abcrunch is amazing.
These guys have a serious problem with that type of exposed screw and not covering it. The one on this figure I'm referring to the backpack swivel that comes over the top of the boom box. That silver screw is just aesthetically too apparent for my taste. On the seekers it's in that manifold thingee on their shoulders. Looks also like the plastic on this figure has quite a few visible spru marks. I have the original color KFC, kind of wish I had the metallic red, and while it is SUPER dated, I just don't think I'll replace him with DS.
Too cartoon accurate...for me that makes him perfect. The closer to the show the better for me.
I like the Seekers but, with Blaster...the Too Toon is Overdone. The Reds an Yellows needs to be more vibrant. The Torso needs to be a tad wider and there are NO Boom Box details on the sides, That is a big turnoff.

I think that mouth is too wide, from corner to corner, on the closed lips sculpt. Makes him look a little Dolly Parton-ish. Otherwise, he's a gorgeous looking figure.

This is amazing in pretty much everything except the pain, its just so flat, same as the seekers, I wonder why they choose to do such a disappointing painting choice....my metallic Transistor is vastly inferior but the metallic paint makes him so much more pleasing to look at.
One reason could be they were going off that cartoon matte, g1 to a fault as some say. Another could be the material they use: nylon infused plastic don't mix with paint is what I've heard. But it would be cool if they give us different paint job options

Yeah, it's a shame they aren't doing more toyetic paint schemes in addition to the toon offerings. It definitely kept me from buying their seekers. I've got zero interest in the toon accurate look.

Toyhax ReproLabels. They sell whole sheets with multiple different sizes of logos, and you can even pick different styles of logos.

Let’s stop lying here the KFC version was not good people just like settling. The KFC couldn’t even spread its legs apart. It was a good place holder but it had shotty materials and no weight to it. It had a decent sculpt and don’t forget it had zero paint until it came out with a metallic version. Yes this one is matte but atleast it’s painted. If you like your KFC still then good for you I’m happy for you but let’s not keep telling lies.
I like it, but don't love it. The face is too.....lippy? Like he's taking selfies and puckering up. I'll wait to see how FT looks. I do think that, considering it's probably eight years old, the KFC has held up well. He had a good, long reign.
