    After watching, I decided to build something similar. It is very simple and works every day of year if you live in the Caribbean.

    Good video, dude. Informative and clear. Seems like it progresses from idle to main very smoothly. I'm considering a similar setup for my twin cam mini build. The sound is nothing short of erotic.

    Hanging idle for a split sec. after throttle ,that generally is a sign that there is more aire than fuel entering the combustion chamber. Another thing is. Id get a choke hooked up to those carbs. If you have any questions about tuning the carbs shoot me a message

  • @boostaddict_
    @boostaddict_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Yeah, 4 36mm carbs is overkill. R1 carbs are overkill. These would be better than the stock intake even, people on vwvortex often don't know what they're talking about.

    I’m doing the bike carb swap on my mk3 right now, really enjoyed this and its sold me on buying 600R carbs and saving the time waiting for the next r1 deal. If I want the larger carb I can always “upgrade” to them later right?

    looks sick man! I have some experience with carbureted motorcycles so I really want to give this a try on my 1976 Opel Kadett, the car already has a carburetor setup, so dont need to mess with fuel pumps and stuff I think

    Dont those carbs need back pressure? Pretty sure i had a similar set on a kawasaki ex500 engine in a quad. You can compensate with upping the jetting but I dont think its ever the same again.

    • @user-cq8iu6et8l
      @user-cq8iu6et8l 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bottom Gear same carbs on my gsxr and they only require a air box factory due to jetting. Now once you change exhaust or air pods it changes how they function and don’t like it until you go way bigger on the fuel jets to make up for the air then it makes a already monster bike a straight animal. On a car they work the same off of intake suction vacuum so get your fuel ect

  • @watercooled666
    @watercooled666 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey man, cold starts are a nogo so there's no choke? Did those carbs not have a choke or is it just not wired/linked?

    • @TimTV90
      @TimTV90 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These carbs have choke for cold starts for sure! Seems it just not linked...

    • @BushyBeardish
      @BushyBeardish 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey im the one who built this car(friends youtube page) and the carbs do have a choke but its sized for a 600cc engine stock and i cant seem to resize it. Unlike a traditional carburator i.e. holly, edelbrock on a v6/v8, these bike carbs have no accelerator pump. So below 60*f the airs too dense and there isnt enough fuel to make a solid combustion. Im thinking about remedying this issue with a block heater; warmer engine on first start, warmer oil, easier for starter to spin a million times, quick start up in colder weather. Anything at or above 65*f this thing has no problems starting.

    What engine is that? Cos the intake/carbs are on the front of the head, I know the cars from this era the intake is on the rear of the head, unless you guys in the America's had a different 8v engine to us here in europe.

    similar setup in my stock 4age smallport... but in 45 WEBERs... even if they re still jeted set up for 2 litre engines or bigger.... i see same torque same places .. in 3.000rpm clears the misses and you can full throttle it to see max power until 5.500/6000 rpm.. i keep power a bit higher cause 4 ag's have more light internals!!! if you play wise with pneymatic and the distributor you might see better work.. watch out with em if you dont want to burn your engine!!! run it rich for its safety !!!!!

    Looking to carb swap my 2001 2.0 cabrio. Ill probably do what driving 4 answers did and install a motorcycle lp fuel pump. Long term i also want to mount the engine longitudinally and make a rwd setup, run it in the 24 hrs of lemons.

    • @Onceuponajuan
      @Onceuponajuan ปีที่แล้ว

      How does it run in a 2.0? I have a 2.2 and wanna do this

    • @Danleyson1
      @Danleyson1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Onceuponajuan it would depend on what carbs you get. So say you were stealing carbs from a motorcycle for your 2.2L engine. You need a way to compare them apples to apples. My idea is you need equivalent airflow rate. So for a 1000cc/1L bike engine for example you have 4 carbs, so 250cc per carb. Then find the target rpm (11000 rpm for example on some bike). Every 4 strokes = 2 rotations. Every 2 rotations = 1 intake stroke of 250cc per carb. So at 11000 rpm you would be making 250cc of flow at 5500 "rpm". If you follow the unit conversion and then convert to cfm (cubic feet/min) its about 50 cfm per carb. In order to be viable in acar without modification you need a similar cfm. For a 2.2L at 1 carb per cylinder at 4000rpm you are about 40cfm. At 5000rpm it is better at about 50cfm. The point where the cfms (air flow rate) match are where you know the carb will work as intended. Hope this helps.

    • @Onceuponajuan
      @Onceuponajuan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Danleyson1 thank you! Helped a lot it's for a mazda b2200 lol you saved the day

    • @Onceuponajuan
      @Onceuponajuan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Danleyson1 great example actually my truck is max rev at 6k rpm but 50 cfm sounds good since I don't need to go up that much

    • @Danleyson1
      @Danleyson1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Onceuponajuan if thats the case you need to decide your tuning range/target rpm.
      you need to calculate the cfm for each variation based on the cylinder displacement. Find truck engine displacement, call that A1. Find target rpm of truck engine B1. Airflow is then dV1=(A1/#cylinders)*(B1/2). If you calculated using liters and rpm thats ok but make sure the units of dV2 are the same as dV1. dV2 is for the carburetor host (bike). So if the truck had a 3.4L 6 cylinder engine of course 50cfm is not necessarily the airflow at 5000rpm. Say we had a 4.4L engine instead of 2.2L from before. You would double your flow at any rpm so at the same rpm as the previous example you would now need 2 carbs per cylinder
