Ok, I’m a combat vet, I skydive, scuba, hit the gym on a regular basis, fight train and Jiu-Jitsu, firearm expert, etc, etc... I’m not saying this to brag - I just want to make a point. I framed on Cape Cod during the winter for about ONE month. It was the most physically demanding and dangerous thing that I’ve ever done. On a daily basis I was balancing on icy framing 2 or 3 stories above the ground while holding as much as 150lbs of yet to be attached roof joists and other awkward and cumbersome lumber that seemed to always be trying to leverage me off my feet and to the ground below. After a month of doing this contractor’s dirty work with no help from machinery I was like FUUUCK this! Framing is no joke, that’s some serious work and I’m not trying to work THAT hard ...I mean it’s like work married a marathon or something ...and I was doing it in winter which is bad enough when I couldn’t feel my fingers holding onto the only hint of handle keeping me from falling 3 stories onto a driveway, I could only imagine what it’s like framing in the middle of summer without an ant’s ass of shade to be found anywhere ...yeah, no thanks!
My first summer out of high school I framed. I had two falls, one when I put my foot on a sheet rock block to nail in a pony wall and the block of course gave lose as it was meant only for a place to nail sheet rock. I fell flat on my back about 14 feet to the plywood deck. I was lucky I did not hit a saw horse or wall brace. The second fall was when, right after lunch, I headed up a flight of stars that collapsed just as I was about to reach the second floor. It had only two sinkers toe nailed in, one each side. That was 46 years ago. Built a couple of sheds since then but way to old to walk plate anymore...
didnt mention anything about crowning your studs. also what are those L for facing the outside on the ends and in the middle.i understand the ones facing down but theres three up
Great video, lots of good tips. Will you be doing a video of how to square off the walls from the foundation up, that would be interesting to see your method. Enjoy your beer and keep safe.
Excellent work. I frame and do form carpentry also and will be putting out videos soon on how I build. Great videos my man keep on bringing them, God bless.
Question: how did you secure wall end, to stay in a correct line, not to go over the edge?? I did not see you putting any 2by4's, or any block/nails there, on the edge?? What keeps the wall to to fall?? Just wondering????/

In this channel, Jason (I think that's his name) has 11 videos marked with episode number. Definitely worth spending the time.

What is the purpose of the vertical 2x6” L’s and what are there spacings? You made it a point to note them but didn’t mention their purpose. Thanks

Are your studs cut to length from the supplier? Over here a 2.4m is around 2.5 and you have to cut your own, which sucks.
Gave those wall jacks everything they could handle. Time to have a beer.

Does that Dense Board qualify as wind bracing?
been waiting a while for this video its good to see you still making videos and keep up the good work and the videos rolling out

No stud crowning?
i noticed in a few of your other videos you have a red porter cable compressor is that what you run your framing gun with thanks

Oh man you and your beer 🍻 ..cheers 🍻
