It is what it is, a R52 3F Jinty built from spare parts out of my scrap box, It's not by any means perfect but is still a pleasure, and makes me smile when I run it on my layout

There is one of those in the loft of my father's house in Wisbech along with a Saddle Tank 0-6-0 running number 748 they are both from the early 60s when I was 6 years old. Who needs DCC for sound. It brought back a lot of memories. Thank you, Mark. Martin. (Very hot in the Train room in Sakon Nakhon, Thailand.) It must in the lower 40s C outside. Just checked 39 degrees.

You got it running well for a collection of scrap parts, I have a few bits and pieces myself from old Jinty's and the trans continental pacific. One early Jinty body shell is very warped though. I may try and get the pacific built up one day using parts from a Princess Elizabeth class as I intend to get the modern version of her.

Thanks Rob, It's one more loco, and it's good enough for my shed layout. I try to save as much Tri-ang as I can on my limited budget. I'd rather have something old that will last a while, instead of something that is only guaranteed to last 100 hours. cheers and stay safe. Mark

I have three scrap box locos, well more like hybrid locos. I've a black Triang clockwork "Top Tank" body on a Lima US Porter 0-4-0T chassis, which looks like Triang Hornby could have produced it that way.
I also have a Triang Hornby clockwork 7321 body on another Lima Porter 0-4-0T chassis.
The third is a Welso Brimtoy clockwork body also on a Lima Porter chassis.
All three run very nicely and look the part on my mid 1960's themed layout.
If you want to build your own you need to remove the cow catcher / shunter's platform from the front of the ubiquitous Lima Porter chassis and then simply fit the Triang or Welso Brimtoy body shell. The Triang body shell will need some filing to clear the cylinder block tops, but the resultant loco is worth the effort.

Just goes to show, The Lima Porter is a very good platform for such projects, cheers and Stay Safe, Mark

Well done Mark, love to see old locos running. Just shows you don't need to spend mega money to run a layout. Have you had any problems with the couplings on the old girl?
