Maybe in the grave. Bible clearly stated that no one have been up to heaven except the son that came down (Jesus). Also stated that no one will the gift till he returns (Jesus). Kinda makes me wonder why reference the Bible when clearly it doesn't state that. Well most don't read. This also shows evident they don't when they have pictures of a white Jesus with Goldie locks when it clearly stated he looked different. He was darker folks with hair of wool. And the crosses people wear. They was crucifying people way before Jesus. Hundreds one I think history stated. but I'm sure she'll be fine when he returns. But anyone who died is still in the ground until he returns. And if you don't believe just read the Bible. Knowledge is power. Most of these things people are prematurely saying are because people don't read. And been changed throughout the years. Go to church your pastor say a verse or two and talk the rest of the day. But there are churches that reads all the way through.

Being a child of the 80s/90s, and growing up in a small neighborhood, We had a lot of independence and freedom from a pretty young age (young as in 5 or 6). With no parental supervision, we were allowed to walk around or ride our bikes up and down the street and we really didn’t have any limits as to what we could do or where we could go as long as we stayed in our neighborhood. We would tell our parents where we were going initially but It was not uncommon at all for us to start at one friend’s house and end up at totally different place. Thinking about it today, it’s insane to think about how our parents normally had no idea where we were, what we were doing, or who we were with 95% of the time.

To me, what is insane is children being forced to be cooped up in their homes all day with a tablet in their face for their so called safety. We are created sheltered and sick children that have no social or coping skills and also lack imagination.

The box of Barbie dolls given to her by a little old lady a couple of weeks beforehand, the pretending to run away to her 'new family' and the fact her body has never been found raises the hairs on my arm.

I think it's definitely interesting the things she said to her parents. When you put it all together it definitely does sound suspicious. I know as a mother myself, none of this would be an immediate cause for concern because kids do say these kinds of things. My kids have brought toys, bikes, and coins home that I did not give to them saying someone gave it to them. But if my kids ever went missing I'm sure I'd start overanalyzing every single thing. It could mean something, it could mean absolutely nothing. It's hard not to link every little detail to your missing child I'd imagine.

I think there’s a lot more to the Matthew Curtis lead. I think it’s more than just highly disturbing, but also rather telling that he stated “if I was involved in her disappearance, you would never find her”. That’s not something an innocent person or a person with a sane mind would say. Even if it doesn’t serve as an example of him being involved, it is very telling of what kind of a person he was. The idea of him being ruled out as a suspect because there was no trace of LeeAnna or because his house was in the opposite direction from which LeeAnna was walking, I think, is a bit flawed. For one, even though Matthew lived a few houses down in the opposite direction, he still frequented the neighborhood and knew it well, and easily could have been prowling around the day she disappeared. Similarly, just because his truck wasn’t involved in her disappearance doesn’t necessarily mean Matthew wasn’t involved. I mean if he was looking at cp on his mom’s computer, he also could have been corroborating or corresponding with people nearby with similar interests. He could have been in chat rooms or forums and found other people who he could have formulated a plan with. I mean, that’s the kind of way this stuff often works. Human trafficking occurs because of networks of criminals like this, so who’s to say that Matthew wasn’t a part of one of these networks? I don’t know… I also find it highly suspicious and very telling that he took his own life the day of his court hearing. I wouldn’t be surprised if in time we come to discover he was more involved in this than we know. But at least through this case, the community was able to find out about what Matthew was involved in so it could be brought to light, for the betterment of the community and the safety of everybody’s children.

Thank you for covering Leanna. I grew up in Hibbing (5 min from Chisholm) and I had just turned 17 when she went missing. Her disappearance rocked our area. I still think of her often... my fear is the mine pits filled with water. They're incredibly deep. We have lakes everywhere. ...
And back then, no one would think it was odd to have your child walk down the block. Nothing happened in Chisholm... it was a tiny, really safe town. It was a different time then.

Even in 2008 when I was five years old, I was allowed to walk to my friends house that lived the next cul-de-sac over. Everyone in the neighborhood knew each other and God forbid anything happened, I feel like everyone‘s parents trusted one of the neighbors to see something and say something. I’m guessing it was the same situation in Leanne‘s neighborhood. I feel so horrible for the mom.

The Barbies too; yes its common for kids to 'steal' from friends but you ask where they got them and if they don't confess you call ALL the friends and return the toys and use it as life lesson.

That is strange that they didn’t look into this. I know I would of. My mom would, we had a neighbor that would buy me stuff. I remember she asked me where I got this. Our neighbor was just a super nice person.

I have to think, in a town so small, it has to be someone local that took her. Hiding a secret that long is hard. It’s hard keeping something to yourself if someone did in fact take her. Maybe with renewed interest, more tips may come in and the family can get some answers.

her shoes being left at the friend’s house is intriguing… would she be wandering the neighborhood without shoes? if she kicked off her shoes, she’d likely go around to the backyard and might have been spotted/abducted there. hard to imagine she’d walk sidewalk / asphalt barefoot

For any parents that are critiquing these parents for allowing their child to walk at five years old, should not only consider that 2003 was a different time, but also that this child knew the route and obviously was not something. her parents allowed her to do regularly. I grew up in the 1980s and 1990s and what I was able to do as a small child in that time would now have had me removed from my mother’s care in 2024. These parents need support and compassion.

I agree. My husband was allowed to walk to close friends house when he was like 7-8. But now in 2024 we don't allow our kids to do the same. We're not allowing to walk places till they're in middle school.

It's more about the fact that it was a small town than which year. In big cities, this wouldn't have been acceptable even in the 80s. I was born in the 80s in a decent sized city and it was already unacceptable then to let a 5 year old walk around alone.

    • @funlo.vingco
      @funlo.vingco 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I felt like I was back in the 70s where parents were starting to take better precaution than the decade before. I wasn't allowed to do it in the 60s. The Zodiac killer, Jack the Ripper, etc. scared the crap outta my parents. By the time 70s came around .. Manson, Bundy, Dahmer, Gacey, .. we started to see serial murders in our own communities. The late 80s took 2 of my schoolmates _HORRIFIC CRIME SCENES_ and a string of others. Everyone was on edge> In the 80s. The 90s brought all kinds of weirdos. Repressed folk from the 60s and 70s. The world's only gotten worse from then.
God, keep our children safe from harm. Open the gates of hell and sweep these horrible childnappers to their final, restless place because there's no place here for pedophiles and child abuse.

Goodness, we’re talking about 2003, not 1963. Five year old wandering the streets and playing in lakes without adult supervision was not even a thing in 1983/4 when my daughters were born.
Of course the parents deserve compassion- you’re correct- but can we stop pretending like 2003 was that much different than today? Anyone remember Madeline McCan? No one thought it was ok for her and the twins to be left alone in a hotel room, much less the street.

The world should be a place where a little girl can walk safely to a friends house and then come home and never be featured on a true crime channel. Peoole in Japan have sent their kids on their ways across the city to school alone for years but i guess there is just a higher concentration of depravity here in the US

In the 80s I was almost kidnapped TWICE! Both times were a vehicle slowly following me and my cousin the first time, and then me & my friends the second time. They stopped both times and first potential kidnappers said to get in their car to see their puppy. Second potential kidnappers said our parents asked them to drive us home. They looked sketchy so we ran away screaming both times.
I always wonder how many kids were taken back then that didn’t run away like me🥹 I pray even now years later all missing kids are found🙏🏻

You said that letting your kid walk to their friend's house wasn't a great idea. But in 2000, 2003 etc. It wasn't a bad idea. We lived in a very different world in the early 2000s, so letting your child do that would have been perfectly normal. Yes, this horrific thing happened but most of the time these things happened with ppl who are known to the family (not saying that's the case here) but for anyone to make that comment based on the time frame would show complete ignorance on the commenter's part, not the mom bc that was something almost every single parent would do back then.

I respect your commentary. In small towns there's a sense of community. Everybody knows everybody so it's not out of the ordinary for a 5 year old to go walking around by themselves. If it was the city, then I would say something. I miss that small town community feel.
